There's a lot that can go wrong with wireless controllers. For example, someone can connect to the switch with a wireless controller and do a match, then forget to unpair the controller. Then they can accidentally or intentionally disrupt the match.

The gamecube adapter only needs the black usb to be plugged in, the gray one is for the rumble features.

Idk why but this makes me feel so sorry for you lol. But as a melee elitist (not really like play all of them. Just prefer melee) the only reason the game cube controller was used is because it has been the most responsive for competitive play. But if we find that the pro controller offers any advantages we will switch. Other than that it’s all preference

although I can't speak to the official Nintendo adapters (either Wii U or Switch) with the mayflash adapter - an extremely popular 3rd party alternative - this isn't true and if you only use one cable then having multiple GC controllers plugged into it will cause their inputs to overlap; e.g on char select screen me and my buddy were both moving the same hand when we tried this.

I had a feeling there was some input lag here and there; I've been using the Bowser themed Pro Controller for awhile and while I do love it, I think I might go with the Zelda PDP controller as I feel for me personally, especially in competitive setting (if you really wanna get serious that is) that every second matters and the lower response time I feel would make me do better. 8.5 is a huge leap from 7.5.
Not only that, but as someone whose used the Gamecube controller since Melee, I love it all around and it has such a nice comfortable feel. I have noticed that switching over to the Pro Controller does give me a rather awkward feel so it makes sense to swap eitherway. But hey, I figured I'd give a different controller a try right? See if it worked or not and it did to a point sure, but, doesn't exactly feel the same.

Thanks for your video. I appreciate your work. The controller you mentioned at 9:21 has been the best one for me because of its size/weight/reliability.
I bought a PDP Sonic controller, whilst I bought the Mario one for my friend. But I have a bone to pick with PDP. Both of our “A” buttons stick. And mine just happened after 1-2 weeks of playing. So my pretty sonic controller is just sitting around for its looks right now. It was $60 brand new and hard to find. I’m a sonic Mainer so I was so happy to find sonic themed controller and I wasn’t mad that it costed $20 more than my friends Mario controller. But as you said, the “A” button is the focus of the right side of the controller. Not happy at all. Have been trying noninvasive cleaning to fix it. But nothing works, because it’s not dirty. I’ll be calling them up to see what they will do. And I’ll advise if there’s any feedback.
Does your “A” button stick from time to time on your Zelda PDP controller?

I have the pdp one, and I've been using as my main controller. It's so nice. I really love it! The reason I'm doing this is because my pro controllers left stick is dragging really badly. So it's unusable. And apparently every single pro controller has this problem, so I didn't want to shell out another 70 dollars for a doomed controller. I was using an Xbox one controller with the 8bitdo adapter, but it only stays connected for about 30 minutes and takes longer to connect. A ps4 connects faster and for longer, but it kept making my switch shut down completely. So I'm extremely with my pdp gamecube controller. Plus I main link in smash so it's cool that it has that design. Thank you for reading my novel!

I have the powerA controller and I love it. ONE major problem though is i went to a tournament and it was a major pain to connect it every time I switched stations. It also kept connecting to the other console and I had to start taking the batteries out so that i would not interrupt the other players. I went back to the cord.

I have one and the L stick rubber has started to rub off after just several hours of use. I may have to return it or get a replacement.

It plays just like the Pro controller. Actually the switch thinks that it is a pro controller and not a game cube controller. @Griff -

The OG GameCube controller will start your shield right when you press it, don’t have to press all the way down so travel time won’t matter on smash.

Yeah, those shoulder triggers don't poll strictly at 1 or 0, instead traveling between 1 and 0 based on how far you push down.

It's less about the travel for activation as much as it's annoying to have a button travel so far that you have to use so often. It's very much usable. It just has no real use in a fighting game.

Analog triggers with a Digital button in the bottom, Games can (and sometimes did in the gamecube days) map both to different functions.

If you do press it all the way down the buffer can keep it pressed after you release it

a note to anyone watching currently: the pdp controller is both ridiculously priced in most cases and also, when notched in the downright/downleft notch, in ultimate specifically, it will walk forward as opposed to the normal GCC which makes you crouch and still inputs a downward angled f-tilt when you press A. i also had this problem on multiple Power A wired controllers after about a month or two of heavy use each. never had this issue with any OEM controller

Satisfye grip helps a lot in portable mode as far as the right joystick goes. The buttons are still somewhat annoying but at least I'm not cramping my thumb trying to flick the analog stick to do a special.

Was the input lag any different with it plugged into the usb port?

For the game cube controller adapter you don’t need the grey USB port, that one is supposedly for vibration, so you can take it off and it would still work.

2:00 your gamecube controller shoulder buttons go down very smoothly but the ones i bought make a clicking sound and it wears out after a while making it feel weird to press.

I got that same PDP controller, as I prefer wired controllers. A few problems I had with it were that the joystick area is huge compared to the other controllers. You have to move the stick roughly 50% further to fully tilt. Also, the most glaring problem, after about a month of playing with it, tilting the left stick to the right to walk, made me instead... attack left... And taping left made me walk slowly. I'm not rough with my controllers at all, and that thing broke almost immediately. I'm using the wireless controller now and have had no issues. 👍
