- Salutations, Ladies and Gentlemen! Today, I'll be discussing a delightful offering from Rosecraft Blades. This particular piece is known as the 'French Broad Jack'. Named after a river with the same title, the French Broad Jack is a wonderful example of quality craftsmanship at a good price.
French Broad Jack:
D2 tool steel (swedged) Wharncliffe blade with half-stops. Brushed steel bolsters, liners and spring. Nickel-silver pins and 'rosebud' shield. Red smooth bone handles. Made in China.
Overall, the Rosecraft Blades French Broad Jack is an excellent piece, especially for it's price of 50 GBP. (Around 86 CAD) It would make for an incredibly elegant Gentleman's (or Gentlewoman's) EDC, and a particularly charming one, at that!

This is a great a Rose Craft 👍 knife for sure. Thank you very much for a wonderful video.
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers!
Thank you so much for showing us this one,, I've done my usual "pause the video thing" for HH availability, and I'm surprised that the surgeon's knife is slightly cheaper, and would be my choice between these two I think,,
Thanks again, and all the best my friend, from across the pond,, 👍😊
I prefer the Surgeon's knife, but the French Broad is a *very* close second. Either way, they're both outstanding pieces.
Cheers, as always!
Both fantastic!
Good stuff as always, mate👊🏻
Thanks for popping in!
Cheers, as always!
Very nice color on those covers. I've liked just about every RC knife that I've seen so far, but I don't own any of them yet. I may need to remedy that soon👍Cheers, buddy!
They're a great knife for a very fair price. I'd recommend one, highly.
Cheers, as always!
Excellent addition. I nearly got this one myself but went with the Ocoee river kayak. I really love it.
Great video!!
Ooh, that's a great choice! Frankly, I'm a Wharncliffe addict, so I had to go for this one.
Cheers!
Looks cool! I haven't had a rc traditional yet. I've been expanding my gec collection. Now I have 4 slipjoints and 2 little fixed blades from gec and couldn't be happier.
GEC are already hard to find...but in Canada? Practically impossible!
Rosecraft offers very similar quality, just at a lower price and with better availability. Sadly, they're not 'artisanal' like GEC.
Cheers!
Good review 😊
Many thanks!
Cheers!
I am not a huge fan of the Wharncliffe but that one having a wider blade and not tapering off to soon is one I would be happy with, as the blade is just under three inches overall yes it is legal to carry I would have no qualms carrying it in public, Rosecraft only gets good reviews or at least I haven't seen a bad one, as I am doing my best to abstain from adding to my collection I probably won't get one however the French Broad Jack is a knife I would certainly have liked to have had in my pocket back in the day. 😁
I love Wharnies', so the French Broad was right up my alley. The blade isn't too thick, so the knife still keeps a certain degree of sleekness, but it isn't so thin that it becomes fragile looking.
I figured it was UK legal, but always get scared of offering advice to people that could (possibly) get them into trouble! 😅 I probably worry too much.
Also, the French Broad Jack (along with the Holston River Surgeon's Knife) is getting put in "the vault". So I'd highly suggest grabbing one before they're removed from production.
Cheers, as always!
@@TheKnifeRaven Thank you for the info but I am old now so giving up collecting knives, I just look these days enjoy seeing what you reviewers add to your collections. 😁
