We spent 1.5 hours there in total. At first they wanted to spray Meguiars spray wax on the parts missed to clean them which I declined since I had just paid to get it all polished and didnt feel them spraying wax on dirt and road grine and then wiping with a microfiber was the best choice. So we waited in line nearly an hour for a 2nd “partial” wash (that is when the tank cover washed off) and the tanks/ect were washed but they came out very streaky despite my wiping it all down so I gave up and left to get my Taco Time.
Part of me feels they used brighter on that 2nd wash (I always decline brightner on my wash) because my polish job now reflects that something acidic was used. All in all, waste of time and money.

One word of advice. I never open the doors until I’m ready to bump the dock. Product temperature can give them another excuse for load refusal.

It’s sad the Streaking Beacons have really gone down hill. I realize they aren’t a detail shop but they use to do a better job but I feel your pain on them missing everything. Hard to find good help these days.

Well your absolutely right Alice. The reefer industry is a mess. If a truck has an appointment for 11:00 then get the truck loaded. If not start paying by the hour. Oh if the company is short staffed that day then that company fixes that problem or pays for the waiting unit. The driver or O/O always pays the price for all the screw ups of the company’s they load and unload at. One of the reasons why reefer is not always the best freight to run. If it was a perfect world yup reefer could be attractive but not the way it is set up. Waiting 24 hrs with a reefer is not uncommon. Glad to see your handling it well. Love the drone shots, especially from above, let’s the viewers really get an idea of what the facility looks like where you are loading or unloading. The more info or the more you show the viewers what’s going the better your videos become. Trucking Together videos are right up there . Thanks for posting guys. Have a great and a safe day. Drivers have been fighting for detention since trucking was established in the 1930s.... We fight not only the shipper or receiver but also the broker who sometimes gets detention paid to tgem but never passes it on to the carrier, driver.. Safe travels guys
If you send a comment card to blue beacon they usually respond and sometimes give you a free wash ticket. They at corporate really do try to give a good value wash wise.
They wanted U to drop trailer so they could use it for cold storage. They thought they were slick😅🤣😂😬🙄🤯

This really holds true for every commercial driver out there... RV'rs,Boaters, also... We put our paperwork away but WE NEVER leave our whizzbang devices behind
Photo copy your reg book also. stash it somewhere in the truck where it cannot be found and stolen
40 years ago, I started trucking hauling produce from Salinas, California to Huntspoint, New York. It’s sad that things have not changed in 40 years. Seems like the truckers always get screwed.😢
Beacon is only concerned with one thing,speed and making money, there isn’t any competition that’s 24 hours, so they don’t care

It’s a sad situation when you have to accept all the stresses just to keep your lifestyle.

The sad reality to the higher rates the produce pays is that because they pay you more they feel they can jerk you around more.
The time that you spend waiting actually comes out of your yearly income
If you get a cheaper load, but you load right away
Because when you get produce, you’re on a limit load now deliver in two hours

What you said about the trucking industry applies to the towing industry as well I did that for over 20 plus years once you get in you don't get out it becomes your lifestyle not a job Because of the money that you make doing it in this situation with the cooler breaking down and them making you sit there and wait I don't know how the trucking industry works or what the rates are but it almost seems like sitting there all that time idling because of the heat and not getting any detention You're losing money more than you are making it on a load like that I don't know how that works I don't know how I would have handled it I probably would have started looking for another load and told them look you can find someone else to haul your stuff I got another load but I don't know how that works anyway

Good to see you guys back in the saddle again , but the industry has not changed for the better.
Waiting hours to load or unload after breaking your but to get to an appointment on time is why I quit…so much wasted time, and like you said..shippers don’t think your time and equipment is worth squat.

It's good to see you & Martin moving product. The shippers/ receivers don't give a hoot. The shipper in the Potato state should charge COSTCO because that's where the dominoe effect started & you arrived on at receiver. The streaken becon,yeah that's bull pucky about no one doing their job & not saying anything about the fuel tank end cover.

I've got a question I see you drinking all this coffee and eating tacos and all kinds of crazy food what happens if you're stuck at one of these places waiting to get loaded and suddenly your stomach gets very upset and you've got to go potty? I can get what men can do if they have to urinate but what do women do? I'm not trying to be stupid here I'm legitimately curious, because as I get older trust me I plan my trips when I'm driving I'm not a truck driver for instance but when I'm traveling I stop at hotels because they have really nice bathrooms in their lobbies instead of going to the bathrooms at gas stations. For instance I'm a Hilton honors member So if I have to use the bathroom I stop at Hilton brand hotels, Hampton Inn, Tru, brands like that they have really clean and nice bathrooms and always a good place to eat and they welcome people to do that cuz they make money from us buying things.
Lots of B.S. with Brokers,Shippers,Receivers can DEFINITELY gett 2 U sumtimes. DEFINITELY need SERIOUS NEGOTIATIONS on RATES bcos TRUCKERS TIME is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT as any other persons time
have you called brokers lately? most won’t negotiate on retention or layover, too many trucks out there that don’t care. It’s hard enough to squeeze an extra $300 on loads these days
They don't call it the streaking Beacon for nothing. I got out of reefers years ago for many of the reasons you are experiencing. There is a fix for all the waiting time we experience in this industry. Time clocks! Punch in when you check in punch out when you leave. Minus negotiated load and off load time.
I went through that bullshit with watermelons on a flatbed. They were picking them out of the field. Sit there a very long time. In southern California by Arizona line.
Yep, the sucky side of trucking, no compensation for tying up our equipment for hours while waiting for shippers or receivers to take care of their products. I run a reefer and a flatbed, really prefer flatbed but reefer freight in my area pays a little better right now, but haaaate the bs with door swinging!
To have a weight at both ends and spending $114.00 and getting screwed over at the beacon it was a bad time all the way around. But at least you got your Taco Time. Hopefully it was really good. And I hope things get better. Truck safe Alice. Hi Martin.
I spent 20 years hurrying up and waiting to load/unload.
For final 15 years, I got into hauling fuel, where my customers were actually happy to see me, and I unloaded upon arrival! 👍🏻
Sometimes, it took an hour or so waiting to load but never more than that.
Now I'm comfortably retired!😊

I feel your pain and frustration. Shippers and receivers get paid while we are not getting paid sitting still. No detention is complete bullshit. Drivers need to just stop going to these locations
lol when I seen that setup I figured it was a Costco I just went to one in Dallas same thing packed but they didn’t take long to unload though

The labor shortage is a by product of too many people getting free money for sitting during the COVID fiasco. We cant hire good people because they do not want to work. They sit in an interview and tell us what they are willing to do. Hang in there Alice. You and Martin are doing it right, and are also good, responsible parents.
Thanks for the great reminder why I quit pulling reefers. You’re way more patient than I was. It’s usually no one’s fault it just is but it doesn’t make it easier to deal with. Stay safe.

I never had that obsession of washing my truck constantly if it got wash three times a year it was lucky but i tried not to get it dirty and sometimes a guy would wash it at the yard when ever it was there... blue beacon sucks i couldn't see myself forking over that kind of money

the lifestyle was easy adjustment, i don’t deal with brokers but my “team leaders” now they are…happy little glass lickers. i am all set to just camp, fish and lounge around my country next month, will never hurry up and wait again soon. stay safe
I tried never to pull out of the wash bay until I inspected the job they just did not saying it was the answer every time but sometimes if I said something they would wash the spot they missed.
When you open your trailer doors and drive around it is hard on the rear doorframe

It appears you may have found the worst Blue Beacon in the United States, which is quite an accomplishment. So frustrating.

Refer loads has always been a wait and wait and wait. Don't know why you get an appointment when they don't unload you. Refer loads should get more money for loads because of the waiting periods. It cost money waiting to be unloaded. Refer is running and truck too for many and you can't book another load until your empty. Thats why they need to pay more money for detention that way they have a motive to get trucks unloaded.
Our heart goes out to you Alice. Nobody should have to put up with that crap.Id be blowing my.stack by now.

I'm so glad that I don't pull a reefer anymore, same excuses and by some miracle I bet the cooler was working the next day, I've been there and all it was is the workers probably wanted off early on a Saturday or the product still wasn't picked. Good luck to you all

Ridiculous that they want a $400 fee if you are late, but won't pay detention if they can't get you loaded within 2 hours of your appointment time.

That Flying J in Twin Falls is a nightmare for parking unless it’s the middle of the day. I prefer the Garden of Eden where you were at. They actually just finished that new building not too long ago. Tore the old one down and rebuilt it
yes, when we had our flatbed Martin actually brought them siding or something for the new building when they first started on it. It came out so nice! We’ve been going there for years

Carry spare reusable rivets for the chutes. When I pulled reefer during Covid, forklift drivers were notorious for ripping the chutes down. Then I would get to the reload, & have to pin the chutes back up. 🤬
