  • Travel video about destination Hungary.
    The land of the Magyars is considered to be one of the oldest cultural regions in Europe and whose history dates back to primeval times. Hungary is a gateway between East and West, with a remarkable past and is a diverse country of nature and culture. In 1991 the Fertö Hansag National Park was founded on the Hungarian side of Lake Neusiedl, a protected natural area in which grey Hungarian cattle populate the soda veldts of small salt ponds and where water buffalo enjoy to wallow, while a variety of water fowl stop on their annual migration. Köszeg is one of Europe’s most beautiful castle cities, with typical courtyards and the little main square has a Marian column and Captain's Gate Tower. The square is dominated by the tall facade of the Saint Emmerich Church that was built above an ossuary by the Hungarian Calvinists in around 1615. A beautiful Baroque building contains yet another treasure, the Jesuit Apoteka, in which remedies were prepared according to ancient formulae. Budapest is the capital of Hungary, pearl of the Danube and ever-changing cosmopolitan city. In the south of Pest, historic buildings are located within the Gozsdu Courtyard and close by, in the Jewish quarter, the Great Synagogue, the second largest Jewish sacred building in the world. One of the main landmarks of Hungary’s capital city is the Parlament, an imposing Neo-Gothic building located alongside the Danube on the banks of Pest. At the confluence of the Tisza and Bodrog, within the northern tongue of Puszta, is the world famous wine growing region of Tokaj where the tradition of wine growing goes back several centuries and brought the area much prosperity. The southern Hungarian town of Kalocsa is located near the Danube and is a centre of paprika growing and folk culture that is well worth a visit. Hungary is a land of many faces, a glorious gem set in the heart of Europe.

      a trip to a country in eastern Europe...at the time under the yoke of communism....I thought it would be a boring experience...how wrong I was!...turned out to be a delightful, enriching experience...did the pre-requisite Americans returning to their roots thing that many of us do...only to find nothing but a gravesite...too late, too late...then I decided to learn about the place..[who knew there were Hungarian cowboys?]...by the way, that was explained nicely in the movie "Brady's Escape"...and how the resourceful Hungarians were able to cope with all the restrictions placed upon them...had the required bowl of goulash which tasted very familiar..I was raised on something very similar...right down to the paprika...how, when they were restricted to one house..they chose to rent an apartment in Budapest while building that house out by Lake Balition...watched them light up the chain bridge...bridges and tunnels...so similar to my home city of Pittsburgh...a ride on the danube past the island that shared the same name as my mother as we watched the hydrofoil go shooting by on its run from Budapest to Vienna...many interesting things to see here...probably not nearly as cheap as it was then...but well worth the trip.......

    Didn't Attila the Hun live in Hungaria ?

    • @aldrinsmith7016
      @aldrinsmith7016 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      He lived here, his empire's centre was here, but:
      We are Hungarians, not Huns. Our name is similar, because the western kingdoms, and people thought, our ancestors, the Magyar tribes were Huns, because of our ancient religion, and our nomadic culture. King St. Stephen, and his father, Grand Prince Géza make Hungary a christian kingdom.
      The Huns were Turkic, we are Finno-Ugric.
      (Sorry if I messed up the grammar, I'm just learning the language :D)

    • @palacsinta3475
      @palacsinta3475 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Baz theblue wrong.... we are not finno ugric just the braibwashed people thinks that. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE WE HAVE MAYBE 150 common words with finns and more then 2500 common words with türks? how... First of all Árpád was the grand grand grandson of Attila the hun... and he was magyar.... the whole finno ugric theory was created in the 18th century... there is a lot of documents from the 15th century where we called hun scythians....If the magyars were not huns how is it possible that we can read and understand the old hun runen(alphabet)??? Same folkmusics were founded in innen Asia, where are magyari tribes. Legend of Hunor and Magor(Hunor tribe called huns, Magor tribe mag(y)ars. They were sons of Nimrud. The finns has other folkmusic, stories from the ancestors... Read and learn idiot...

      Először is ne hívjon idiótának, csak mert más véleményen vagyunk.
      Zoltán őszintén nem szeretnék bele menni ebbe a vitába. Valóban a szavaink kb harmada finnugor, harmada türk és harmada egyéb eredetű.
      Én a finnugor teóriát preferálom az egyértelmű nyelvtani azonosságok miatt. Nem szégyellem hogy finnugornak tartom magam, örülök hogy egy rokonságba tartozom pl a finnekkel, vagy észtekkel. Viszont nem szégyellném azt sem a türk eredetű lenne a magyarság.
      Mivel a történészeket és nyelvészeket, tehát a szakembereket is megosztja a kérdés, nem gondolom hogy Ön és én fogjuk ezt megoldani. Viszont arra hogy magyarok vagyunk mind a ketten büszkék lehetünk.
      Nem kell idiótázni meg lehülyézni valakit csak mert egy vitás kérdésben az Önnel ellenkező állásponton áll. Ha kapok erre a hozzászólásra választ, és az hasonló stílusban íródik, részemről a beszélgetésnek annyi.

    • @palacsinta3475
      @palacsinta3475 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A gyökereink közép ázsiába nyúlnak vissza, nem pedig finnekhez és az uralhoz. Népvándorlás során átvettek, átvehettünk szavakat, de ezek elenyészőek. A törökben viszont sokkal több a közös. Isztanbulban voltam pl ahol egy török árussal beszélgettem magyarul(perfekt magyar volt). Ő speciel nevetett ezen a finnugor teorián, mikor szóba került. Az igaz magyar mindig is büszke volt a gyökerére, hazájára és képes lett volna bármikor meghalni érte nem úgy mint most... Finn mesevilág, népzene irányzat, kultúra nem azonos a magyaréval... Mindenkinek megvan a saját véleménye, de én inkább ázsia felé húzok. És mi mai magyarok hunok is vagyunk, csak összekeveredtünk a németekkel, szlávokkal, románokkal. A mai székelyek között több az igazi magyar mint a magyarországi magyar...

    • @aldrinsmith7016
      @aldrinsmith7016 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A népvándorlásnál nem értünk egyedül egyet, én pont fordítva gondolom, hogy a türkökkel keveredtünk. De igazából nem ez a leglényegesebb kérdés. Mint ahogy mondtam, arra viszont büszkék lehetünk hogy magyarok vagyunk. :)

    If you're going to narrate a documentary it would be good if you could correctly pronounce at least the places you're speaking of. Start with the pronunciation of the letter "S" -- pronounced like "SH" in English, as in "SHopron", and "BudapeSHt". Learn the pronunciation of letters in the Hungarian alphabet. Thank you.

    Hungary in Europe is an anomaly. The language is Asian, but the population is European, mostly Slavic . And these Slovaks are the original inhabitants of the Carpathian Basin. The absolute majority of the population of the Republic of Hungary is not ethnically Hungarian, it is predominantly Slavic .And continually European. Only the Hungarian name and the agglutinating language remained. There are no Hungarian genes.
