The stalk is not just for turn signals you need that wiper button on the end of it because the auto wipers are never going to work correctly. I think they should have to change the label to "random mode" until they fix it and then they can change it back to "auto mode".
Indicator stalk is a must. I just hope that the programable buttons on the steering wheel can be set to drive and reverse. If so It will be the replacement when our current Model Y is out of manufacturer warranty.
Indicator stalk seems to do just indicators, the top left button seems to be the wiper button now, not quite sure how well that works in practice? Maybe current Model 3 Highland owners might know.

Hi Ian, decided to buy the new one as soon as available if it includes the acceleration boost, 20" wheels and colour. Only thing I don't like is the silver wheels so would have to get them powder coated to black like my existing one........
I am currently driving a model s and wouldn't want a harder suspension. Reckon all modern cars should have a heads up display so you don't have to take your eyes of the road to see basic information. Finally, regarding external washing of the cameras, I would add washers for the headlights as well.
I'll trade my Y in and get the new one. I shall stick with the LFP as it's plenty fast already and will be a bit faster plus I can plug it in and forget it.
The Model S headlights are the single most iconic part of their entire lineup. Those headlights alone were the head-turner that made me aware of the entire Tesla brand in early 2012. I had to go home and google cars by logo and scroll until I found the Tesla Logo to learn what the heck I had been looking at. If that "lightbar is part of their design language" extends to a Model S refresh I'm going to be BIG SAD
I have the autoshift beta in my M3H. I never touch the screen to shift and I park by taking my belt off. Indicators was a bit tricky to learn quick as I live in the land of roundabouts but I do it without looking now correct every time. Like learning a new gaming console controller 😀
I hope the indicator stalk is optional. Overwhelmingly people put their #1 con of Highland as "No Stalk," and overwhelmingly their 1week/1month update admitted they got used to it in 1hr and it wasn't actually that big of a deal. I was actually looking forward to the cleaner look so I hope there's a checkout/configuration option for stalkless.
Hi Ian I like the new design if this brings Tesla forward then why not staying with the same would be a step backwards and that's not Elon's style, thanks for the vid Ian 😀👍
I’ve been waiting for this. I saw the Asia market launch last week and got excited. I had a model 3 on lease for four years and handed that back the end of last year in anticipation for this Y refresh. HOWEVER; if it doesn’t land in the UK before April then I might have to bite the bullet for a current gen Model 3. I can’t justify the wait for a more expansive model AND paying the additional UK taxes. I’m a big fan of the current 3 but the addition of the indicator stalk in the Y is a big factor. I reckon they’ll add this back into the 3. But not for a while. I’m torn. I’ll hold out until March then make a decision I think.
I recently replaced my 2022 M3 with a long range M3. Before deciding whether to change to a MY I drove both the old MY and M3 Highland back to back over the same test route. The difference was like night and day, the M3 being so much quieter and sophisticated compared to the MY - the costs of both cars was virtually identical so I could have purchased the larger MY for the same money. I prefer stalks but you do adapt and the automatic gear selection works well, again once you have got used to it. One correction, neither the M3 or MY have ventilated rear seats, indeed on the M3 you no longer have a central rear heated seat as you did on the previous model. If the MY Juniper is anywhere as good as the M3 Highland the improvements will be really noticeable and from the initial reviews there appears little if anything to criticise it for. Tesla’s are already expensive in the UK - perhaps Vice President Musk could use the £100 million he was going to donate to Reform to reduce the costs and stop meddling in UK politics!
Glad to hear they have fitted buttons as well as the stalks. My Highland Model 3 is great with the buttons and I much prefer that method. No more Disco Indicators!
It’s the only issue I have with my Model Y. Getting driven home after hernia surgery in the Y was incredibly painful. Every drain cover and road craggle was a knife in the gut. Fingers crossed they’ve found a way to soften that.
Disagree - the front and back of the car both look completely different. And if the suspension is better that's a major improvement. A refresh would be a new bumper and move the badge, don't change any of the functionality and call it a day.
Just took delivery of my MY in December. Not seeing huge benefits. Rear screen would be quite nice and the front camera might be depending on how it’s implemented. I do miss the front camera I had on my i4 that you could set to auto enable at tight junctions that you regularly use, it went into a fish eye mode that you could see if it was clear before pulling out.
Just to say I have the same issue with the rear camera on my Ioniq 38 kWh, at this time of year I'm often giving it a quick rub with my thumb when I get out after a journey.
Indicator buttons work fine if like I do you have CyberTruck due to electronic steering. Not ideal if you have to turn the steering wheel more than 180 degrees. I think Tesla has realized the mistake they made on the updated Model 3
Another great video Ian. Agree re the lights, in that I’m sure we’ll get used to them, but currently I’m a bit meh about them to be honest. I personally prefer the m3 refresh lights. Really need a rear camera washer!

The difference between the 2022 long range and the 2025 Long range RWD is night and day, the suspension being one of the biggest its so much smoother, more akin to a high end Mercedes, if the model Y is anything like that its going to be a winner! All else being equal I'd get one because of Elon.
Thanks to one of your previous videos I purchased a brand new 2025 Model 3 Long range RWD a week or so ago, I had a 2022 but with the new tax changes coming in, it was a now or never situation. The difference between the 2022 long range and the 2025 Long range RWD is night and day, the suspension being one of the biggest its so much smoother, more akin to a high end Mercedes, if the model Y is anything like that its going to be a winner! The indicator buttons are odd but after a couple of hours of driving it was second nature and I don't mind them, more room behind the wheel is nice and the camera and wipers being on the steering wheel is WAYYY better as we all know how poor the tesla auto wipers are haha!
Perhaps Tesla wants to distance themselves from Mr Musk at the moment. Best if he doesn't mention the new car.
Unfortunately there's no cure for sycophancy.
Indicator stalk: YES! Swipe to drive: NO! This drive to minimalism is just unergonomic.
Just don’t buy a Tesla.
Swipe to drive is simple!
I will never buy a Tesla under any circumstances just because of Musk.
He only owns 13% of Tesla. What about the atrocities being committed in China? Do you buy anything from there?
He won’t care Neil
I will buy 2 to make up for you.
But two, and you will lose 100 grand overnight, so knock yourself out 😂
