    This is easily the best resource used to describe how this game is fundamentally different than dota or league and I send this to all of my friends who try it and get tilted

    This is very good but the people who don't know about this, the people who tilted you into making this, won't come across this as they simply don't care.
    They just mindlessly play the game, sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. When they win they congratulate themselves, when they lose they look at the minimap or at the stats or talents and look for anything that they can blame the loss on other than themselves. They lose an objective, they have no idea why, they just blame something random and then they requeue and do it all over again.

    Very informative, but this isn't the fundamentals. This is Masters. The real basics are: What are the advantages you can have (Numbers, Talents, Current Siege, Composition) and what to do with advantages at any moment. And how to kill core, which most people don't understand. These are the basics that result in the winning swings in most games. This video touches on incrementally built advantages, versus the mistakes and mistake punishment that define most games.
    In other words, the most important advice I can give is to ask yourself: What am I doing? Why am I doing this? Having any reason, even if it's dicey, is better than all the mindless lemmings out there. Bonus points because this works in life as well.

    This is a great beginner guide to PvP competitive HotS and to some extend MOBA in general. Just maybe don't start to delve in fighting game analogy, MOBA is already a lot to unpack.

    Are the timestamps when camps should be captured on each specific map written somewhere, like in a list?

    • @derbestimmer1148
      @derbestimmer1148 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can look the camp spawn times up on the wiki. On most maps you want to take camps right before an objective becomes active and slightly after the enemy takes the current obj and you want to take them slightly after your opponent takes the opposing camp, so his camp hits your structures with your camp, gets cleared and lets your camp push with your minions into his structures.

    the reason i like to invade is not about trying to get value out of it but to deny the enemy team value for the time that it takes for the camp to respawn. but i usually want to invade only if i can immediately take my siege camp right after and do the correct push with it
    just my 2 cents

  • @tomcoleman8702
    @tomcoleman8702 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Omg. I thought this was going to be a good fundamentals, but by 36 minutes in I’m very confused.
    At 1 min the opposite side takes camp, and at 2:30 takes bruiser camp. Meanwhile the other team takes their camp at 1 min, and then moves to bottom camp at 2:30.
    If the one team invades the other sides 1 min camp, then you give it defend and keep on track.
    If they don’t, then you can decide to give first objective and push the camp. Oddly, the other team can make that same decision as well, but we didn’t cover yet what happens if both teams ignore first objective. But one team may have to push camp if the other team set up a blocking rotation from the team that did the lower camp, so they may have to push the lane instead and give first objective.
    What’s starting as fundamentals is turned out to be severe micromanagement of different case scenarios and my brain isn’t reconciling the information dump yet. I was expecting more on xp, but I guess that’s one of the fundamentals I was mistaken on. I’m going to take a break before coming back and watching more, as I think there’s good information here. But it’s a lot to take in and process.

    • @tomcoleman8702
      @tomcoleman8702 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Okay. First mention of xp is 1:28:35. But it’s definitely not a beginner video because I checked out several times and lost focus. I need a severe baby version of this.

    • @tomcoleman8702
      @tomcoleman8702 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im at the part where he goes into his replay, but I think I’m done.
      Sadly, I’m sure I’m the player that tilts him. But thankfully, I doubt he’ll ever encounter me in as I’m a lower league. I’m not sure this will help me advance or tilt him less.
      It felt like he’s trying to teach me advanced calculus and Getting frustrated that the more he explains it, the more I’m trying to say, x times x equal x2 right? How does that apply to advanced calc?
      Everyone needs to know the exact timing of the first three minutes of every map. That’s the fundamental I think he’s advocating? This is such a doom and gloom video. If I mess up the first three minutes, I’ve ruined it for everyone. Now I understand why high level people want a surrender button.
      I guess I need to find people who want to run the first three minutes over and over under I master the fundamentals. But I’m sorry man, that I’m that guy that tilts you because all that explaining did not make it any clearer. If anyone has any baby videos to recommend, please let me know!

    Fantastic, really agree with this so much for people to watch! It's like GM level macro.
    But the reality is this is a team game and most of the time by not helping your team you will lose the game.. The best thing to do mate is grind out a high masters / low gm rank then people fulfill roles and you lose by getting outplayed which feels better than losing because malthael wont go solo lane or do camps. It's like the metal chain analogy, you're only as strong as your weakest link, and the rest of the team must follow where the link gets dragged or its lost, which is why qm or low ranks simply dont work as the same game, its not hard for one person to lose the game..! I also agree with @oded that only players like us who also think about these kind of things will watch this video.

    • @tomcoleman8702
      @tomcoleman8702 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. I wish he didn’t label it as “fundamentals.” It makes it sound like beginning level understanding. It’s not. It’s super complex, involves contingency, and eventually devolves into map explanations.
      Is map strategy Macro strategy? Are those synonyms? If that’s the fundamental, and when they say “macro strategy” it really means “map strategy”, then that’s the core concept I need to hear. Often people say that we are missing XP soak, so I was under the assumption that XP is a large part of macro strategy. But the core axioms don’t include XP, so that is a big game changer in my way of thinking. Only I don’t feel that I got a very good understanding of macro strategy, only of map strategy. But maybe that’s what I’m missing. They’re one in the same?

    Why people dont understand macro? Its easy. Cause most people that play heroes of the storm either havent played any other MOBAs or RTS, or they just want to ARAM all the time cause fighting is what's fun for them. It's the same with every MOBA there is. Most people just dont use their brains for the game and they just rely on their mechanics to win.

    The keep and fort "wall" are not the same. Keep towers do more dmg and has more hp. They also used to yield like 4x more exp, but I dont think they do that anymore :)

      Keep and fort side walls are the same. Keep and fort towers/gates are different. Fort towers award 125XP, Keep towers award 400XP.

    sounds nice but its no use being the only one in the team thinking about this. thats why many pretty good players got stuck in lower ranks. they try to do camps and keep track of timings but the rest of the team is midlane brawling muradin.
    its no use to get the camp right in time but the rest of the team doesnt know what to do now or next. they usually never follow pings, worse than that, they do the opposite even more likely cuz who is this sonya to tell us what to do...
    after all the nova first picks, frontline jainas, lvl 20 sololaning zagaras, i decided to only play aram. everything else is a waste of time, if you dont have time or commitment to play 6-8 hours every day with friends also knowing about how to play maps.
    on the other hand, in the evening after a long working day i just dont want to remember timings and stress myslef into perfect sequences in order to win, i want to PLAY. this is, what a GAME is about. playing and having fun. if need to know all of this information to being able to play this, this isnt fun, its work and under this circumstances i just basically dont want to play this game.

    • @DerHouy
      @DerHouy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you loose constantly because people don't know what to do is just not fun. Would be the same as playing soccer over and over again with the majority in your team having no knowledge about anything in the game apart from "hitting the ball away". You wouldn't continue to play with them I bet.

    • @eugeneh22
      @eugeneh22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @WorstMedivh one is not only a good player, if they know and can execute all timings perfectly. i mean, i know about the heroes, i know the objectives i know stutterstepping and the fact, that camps are useful. i know the ults, and which one are good combos. most players in lower ranks dont even stutterstep. they stand on one place and attack until theyre dead. they dont even dodge bossattacks while taking it. thats what i mean "im a pretty good player". but the rest of the team usually sucks. when i ping the camp, i geht "stfu", no one cares. when i say "dont stand between towers with the dragon, try to stand besides, so one of them cant hit you = 50% less damage" i get "stfu", no one cares. i dont say im superpro gm, but im not bronze3 for sure. last game i was tassadar, did 30% more dmg than enyone else, had the least deaths, was mvp but we lost, cuz our ana healed 40k, enemy lili healed 150k. what shall i say... bronzie picking ana and cant aim properly. and often, when i watch twitchstreams with some "bronze to gm" there are players in gold or platinum still not picking up the turret after taking the camp in hanamura ot still not able to dodge deckards scroll which takes 3 SECONDS to finish... how cant someone not walk out within 3 seconds? and i ask myself how the hell did they get there?
