I was looking at the 8R after doing a demo ride of the 8S last year. I was a little butt hurt by the shade you were throwing it, but glad that you came around! Mine's the bumble bee yellow too!
Can anything be done to the suspension to replace it with fully-adjustable suspension front and rear? I wish Suzuki had just done all-black with the yellow. I don't like the grey/don't see the need for it.
@4684334 my friends is at 92 hp Wouldn't mind having one, only thing I didn't like were the brakes and the rearsets(too low). Both things can be modded-- engine is killer! I actually enjoyed this bike more than the ktm 890r duke cuz had more character and growl even tho heavier and less power.
This thing with a flash goes up to 92-95 HP, is SUPER torquey and smooth and with full exhaust is loud/beasty sounding. A friend got one and I tried it out.... very impressed for the price point.
Bought an 8R a month ago, the bike has some bark, the akra on it doesn't make it obnoxious either. I am getting my tune atm by 2WDW and installing an open airbox lid with a DNA with velocity stacks and block off plates. TST has been the best when it came to early mods to this bike.
This is the video series I've been waiting for! Upgraded to the 8S last year as my second bike and I love it tremendously. Fast and responsive without being uncomfortable or too overbearing for the street. Enough power to have fun with and grant passing power but not savage enough to get me arrested. I love the 8S and expect to hold onto it for the next 2-4 years. Look forward to hearing your thoughts, I'll be here for every video in this series.
While I’m sure I would love to have it, from his description it would seem that the Honda CBR 650 R does everything that the gixxer 8R is intended to do except the CBR does it better.
Not at all. If you flash the GSX8R and put on an exhaust you gain 10-14 HP and it offers way more torque and bite than the anemic CBR650R. It'll blow it off the track and twisties.
@@grtbgf I disagree that the Honda is less comfortable. Almost the exact same riding position on the cbr650r as he demonstrates here (about as close to a naked bike as you can get in a sport bike). There is less torque but I prefer the top end speed for the ease on the engine at highway speeds and the Honda is significantly faster with more horsepower. After testing one of these out at my dealership i think these are definitely top 5 daily sport bikes. Its comfortable, sounds nice and definitely not slow for an 775cc twin.

After having 5 different CBRs for the last 20 years, I purchased this bike in blue about a month ago for something different, and to help my wrist and lower back. lol. It’s a really fun bike! I did put the full Akrapovic exhaust , and some minor things like a dna air filter, and a Yoshimura tail tidy to get that horrific fender off the back. Got the ecu back from TST industries, and it did make a huge improvement. :)
Honestly, I'd like to see a direct comparison of this with its competitors. A true head to head. Especially with the 2024 Daytona 660 coming in at an MSRP of $9195, it'd be really cool to see how the two compare.
Oooooh pretty! except for the naked A on the side, that should be covered in the same yellow plastic as the rest of it. and the exhaust... it needs to be blacked out more, or have a brushed Aluminium cover. and the tail, too short, it needs a grab handle to reduce how far the whale member pokes out! (and give somewhere to put a storage bag) My god... that exhaust! it sounds worse than a Toyota Camry Hybrid without the ICE running!
A lot of people in these times forget the old school rule from the early days of sportbikes. Whatever the size of the V-twin cut that displacement in half and that gives you the 4-cylinder equivalent. So just like this thing....800cc twin....give you about 400 cc 4-cylinder levels of power. Maybe a little more with modern efficiency. Hence the old Superbike rule for Ducati running twins they could be twice the size for half the cylinders. My 1993 FZR 600 made more power than these things.
Okay guys. Please hear me out. My first bike was a parallel twin. Then I progressed through larger and larger displacement V-twins. Finally moving to an inline 4. I feel like the parallel twin is a step backwards. I know inline 4's are peeky and like high rpm's. But that's what you want, when you want it. I believe that the naked inline 4 is a perfect balance of needs, wants, and necessity. I hope the big 4 don't abandon the inline 4 all together.

The lack of cruise control and small OEM saddlebags are deliberate choices to encourage people to get a GSX-S1000GT+ instead. And yes, this sits like a VFR minus two cylinders and a hundred pounds. I'd still pick a VFR or GT+ for hardcore touring, but for shorter trips this looks great so far.
