Wish the Jonny had a pedal option as well, I would be all over it if that was the case. Looking forward to the Vibe Shearwater that has the option for all three.
That’s the dorado
Buy a hobie Mirage drive or any pedal drive and build an adapter to drop into the hole.
Awesome video on Jonny boat! Thanks for sharing. Sorry uour battery was too lite electrically!!! Glad you kept your paddle handy!
I have the exact same boat with motor pod....same color too. Lol
I absolutely love the boat and fish all day from it on our many local lakes, ofcourse with a much more formidable AGM batter. Lol
Actually bought 2 batteries, one is a Duracell 26 ah and the other a Vmax 35 ah.
About the only improvement I can suggest for that pod, is with the steering assembly. Putting the throttle also on the steering I think would be a great move on their part.
I like this setup better then any of the other setups Ive seen. Reason being is because it gives you the motor for propulsion but still leaves the back of the boat empty for crates or coolers and all your other junk. Most of the other motor setups Ive seen hog the whole rear cargo area of the boat up. And personally I dont like that.
This setup also seems to weight the boat much more evenly, which I like. Many of the outboard setups I've seen look weighted too heavy in the rear, with the gunwales almost hugging the wake the front end is kicking up.
Man I love your videos! so informative. Wish you guys were in DFW area. I am a big guy 6'2" x 250 and with all the model clearances going on (Feelfree, Bite, Field and Stream models, Pelican120, ect, Crescent, Vibe, Big Fish....), I am so confused as to which would be the best fishing yak for me for the buck to use in our Texas lakes. Kinda leaning to this one and maybe the Ascend H10/12. Smaller package but will hold my big butt with gear! That motor pod is really well thought out for sure.
Ron Ragan
I am in the same boat as you. Pun intended lol. I am a big fella too. 6”4 260. I am looking hard at the A10 and 12 too.
I just bought a jonny. So what battery does jonny recommend ?
If you were about to hit a log. How would you keep your motor propped up when you're still fishing? Is there like a kickstand or how would you keep motor in the upright position?
What would you recommend for a river with a decent current.
Seems like this boat would definitely need the motor pod. Looks like a beast if you had to paddle it and the design makes me think that you'd get blown all over the lake on a windy day.
Yes its short and fat and meant to have a motor. I would hate to paddle this thing back to the ramp.
I see a solar panel rack over your head, shade for you and keep the battery topped off, lol.
Looking forward to your review with the proper battery. Would be interested in how long the battery last when out fishing for the day. Also interested if there is room for 2 batteries depending on the normal battery life. Also interested in the turning radius with the pod and your impression of how it handles.
I’m assuming you need to put the motor in before putting in the water. Does that make it awkward to slide it in?
Lawrence Welp , I was kinda against this little badass , when I first saw how it paddled tbh , on sacred grounds its not a real , or " traditional " kayak , but after seeing this set up , im a believer 100% I need this ! . . . Now . . .
Thanks for all the Jonny videos I so want this boat but not sure if I should wait and get a pelican catch pwr 100 instead! Are the motor pods available they are not listed on there website?
From what I've seen on TH-cam, the Pelican Catch PWR 100 paddles much better than the Jonny Boat. Neither are designed around paddling, but getting stuck with a failed motor is inevitable, so paddling can be pretty important depending on how far you are from the launch.
@@Internetpilot Good to know I'm patiently waiting for more info on the 100, thx!
have you tried the mokai? supposed to go up to 20mph. they seem pretty decent watching the videos on youtube.
Have they upgraded the motor speed control to digital to stop that massive battery dump?
Would be interesting to see how that motor works on a round boat.
Would love to see a demo on big fish 108 pedale drive👍
When I was in Navy basic training we got a very short training session in the Navy whale boats, the model we trained in steered from about the middle of the boat, the handling was very screwy, not easy like a normal rear drive boat. We might have caught on with more training but I only got maybe 5 minutes at the helm, not enough to really learn how to handle it. I've seen some with a regular rear rudder which should be a snap.
do they have the Jonny Walleye version?
Been waiting for this for awhile. Thanks for posting! Got a weight on motor pod without battery?
The Frustrated Fisherman not yet.
Did you get a fee for how fast it was going? 4mph? I'm testing a trolling motor this weekend on Jonny (rear) and I'm taking to energized outdoors lithium batteries 50ah just in case lol
Aliex Folgueira honestly I’d say maybe 2.5-3mph but any time I hit full speed it cut out. I’ll test again with a GPS.
@@HeadwatersKayak bixpy max was 3mph in the rear and torqeedo 403 was 4mph
Do you guys have a video of the fixed pod for the Jonny on the water
I’d be interested in seeing how a shorter, lighter person would in it. You put the seat all the way back for trim. I’m wondering if a lighter person can get it balanced well and still reach the throttle. Thanks
Great video thank you sir for sharing cheers🍻🍻🎣🎣
It looks great.
Great review - it was unbiased
Where get one
How much is the boat and trolling package.
Did you ever do the future test with the right battery?
Yes when I went to Ashville. It’s on here for sure. Check the review playlist. It was last October.
Headwaters Kayak yeah for some reason I can’t find it in the review playlist or any of your vids
The thing I've noticed is none of the props are drilled for cavitation which should make them quieter and a little faster.
I think at the end of the day it's easier to just throw a Honda 2 h.p motor on the back?
Hi my question is how much is a boat like that I’m a guy that lives off of pretty much minimum-wage loves camping and fishing I can’t afford a camper but I got a tent and I’d like to have something like that with a motor like that what how much to kind of those things both cost
I wonder if this would work on the Bonafide SS127 instead of the dry pod?
Not its not even close.
@@HeadwatersKayak thanks
Will the pod motor fit in a bonafide dry pod spot?
I have been wondering that myself.
What website can i buy 1 that you and i can trust
jonnyboats.com/
So would I have to register this with a motor
Depends on your state
What is the discount code
Sorry, don’t have one
I got the Johnny trolley and it had Jonny 115 on it and the 100 I know you guys saw that to
the prop looks awfully close to the bottom of yak.......how close is the rotation of the prop to the bottom?
Got about 20 hrs of fishing on mine.....never hit
Thanks Jonny boat can share feelfree propel pedal.!!! Can you trying for us? 🙃😃🤗
I have the steerable motor pod with 8ball steering handle but i looks like the mounting plate pulls on the track and i feel like it won t hold up for too long. It pretty hard to turn the motor eith that handle. Anybody had similar problem?
That’s the first I’ve heard of it, but there may be other folks out there with more experience in the Johnny than me who have also experienced that. Might be worth posting in the Jonny Boat Owners Group on FB to see if anybody else has had a similar issue and had a fix.
How much Indian rupees
For that price you could get an actual Jon boat with all the bells and whistles including licensing 😂
1600$??! What are you smoking I want some.
How does the motor pod cost? Also, how much is the 2 rudder system? Curious bc I'll be buying a kayak soon. Thanks.
But, now you have to register this if you plan on using it on anything that is considered a waterway.
Yes true
@@HeadwatersKayak Any kind of pedal drive that is compatible with this?
Tell me the discount code pse
Sorry, don’t have one
I want to buy your kayak.. Can your send to indonesia? How much dollar brother?
It definitley looks like a fail. Maybe if i found one on craigslist's it would be worth it.
That "Seal" leaks going upriver.I know why they put that drain with a flap under the side.
Motor and battery together comes out to around 750 dollars 💵.
Hey Dan, any idea what top speed is?
SOCObassin with this motor I’m going to guess and say 2.5 but honestly I can’t really say until I get the proper battery.
@@HeadwatersKayak Gotcha. Just wondering if this Jonny Bass Boat setup is more economical than a torqeedo mounted on a Titan 10.5 or similar. Looking forward to more vids on this.
SOCObassin yes seems like it would be way cheaper. Even with the top of the line Torqeedo travel motor your still under the cost of a titan basic upgrades. But the big difference is you are forced to motor and you don’t get the huge advantage of having pedals once you get to your spot. I’m going to give it more testing and see how it works out. I’ll let you know. O
So there is not even a single rod holder on this kayak? 😮
you left out the most important thing! getting it in or OUT of the water! you cannot put it into the water and THEN lower the TM mechanism, obviously, because water would rush into the kayak, so the motor mechanism must be installed while still on the dock/dry land: but NOW: that prop blade is sticking out well below the bottom surface of the kayak, which means, you must awkwardly lift it, without damaging the prop , to get it into the water: similarly, when you are coming off the water, you must now lift the entire kayak out at the same time, again, taking care not to damage the extruding prop. With a normal trolling motor situation, whether at the bow or transom, the TM can come up and away, preventing that problem. Depending on the age/physical limits of the user, this could be a very bad problem. If the motor prop itself was retractable without having to break the seal of the module it is fitted into, that wouldn't happen.
that thing sounds loud! or is it me?
Soy de Puerto Rico no entiendo inglés, yo tengo un Jonny boat Bass 100 tengo el motor eléctrico original pero no tengo el ocho ball cómo conseguirlo cualquier comentario en español por favor
they don't come fully charged.
Don’t like the fins
It’s okay going through thick stuff but catches everything when trying to back out
Sorry WiFi is crazy...can’t see if anyone asked if the pod would fit in a Bonafide?
I am popular in Japan
Would like to see a video where someone that’s supposed to be a pro doesn’t hook a trolling motor to a friggin flashlight battery!
seems WAY over complicated,... lots of things that could break.
I still don't understand why people want a motor on a kayak. It seems to defeat the purpose. Unless you have a disability (then I get it), isn't part of the appeal that you can go places on your own power? It is for me
I used to agree with you, but I recently started fishing much larger water up north where bass are spread out further. And I now find my self thinking about getting a motor for long runs. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but I'm looking at the market.
1st!!
Put a 5 hp engine on it hehehe
We put a 6 hp on one 😁
.
32k subs and your still filming on your phone buy a camera
in motion if it’s easy to do I’ll do it, if it takes work I won’t. For now I’ll keep using my phone. Although this weekend I’m filming some white water sea kayaking with a GoPro.
piece of crap i prefer my catch 100 pwr
Glad you've got something you like.
God, if I had a bigger vehicle other than a Mini Cooper I’d damn sure buy one and keep it storage 🥲🎣
