Mike Kenn #78 played in the NFL from 1978-1994. He spent his entire career with the Atlanta Falcons after being drafted with the No. 13 pick in the 1978 draft out of Michigan. He started every one of the 251 games he played in over his career. No one has more starting seasons as a tackle in the history of the game. 5x Pro Bowl selection 3x First Team All-Pro 2x Second Team All-Pro 1991 "Whizzer" White NFL Man of the Year Here is what some NFL greats have to say... Chris Doleman "He was the prototype at the time. He moved well, great technique. He had great success against some great players. Hall of Famer? Yes, in my opinion." Art Shell When asked about the Hall of Fame and Mike Kenn Shell said, "Does he fit with that group? You're damned right he does. "He's a future 'Hall' guy, sure. If the folks who do the voting have any sense about them, he'll walk right in when it's his time. He's a master at some forgotten skills, a guy who still pays attention to the detail stuff that's foreign to a lot of linemen nowadays.''
In 1981, Mike Kenn was voted to his second Pro Bowl and was voted second-team All-Pro. He allowed 4 sacks and was penalized only 4 times while starting all 16 games. Additionally, Kenn played every down (1,144) of the 1981 season.
I don't think any football historian would dispute that the Falcons were one of the three best teams in the NFC in 1980. Yet they had a losing season in 1981. The primary reason was their defense. In addition to giving up 34 points to the Steelers, they gave up 30 points to the Bengals and 28 points to the Browns. Their inability to defend against the pass, more than anything else, was what kept them out of the playoffs.
They also lost a lot of close games, undoubtedly in part because the D couldn't stop people when it counted most. They scored almost 70 points more than they gave up, but lost games by 3, 3, 3, 1, 5 and 2 points.
@ , that's not entirely true. The Falcons made the playoffs one last time under Leeman Bennett, in 1982. Once again, they blew a game they could have won, against the Vikings on the road (final score: 30-24). The 1991 team was a bit of a fluke. They sneaked up on the NFC and somehow swept the 49ers before upsetting the tired Saints in the wild card game. Then they were totally outclassed by the juggernaut Washington team in the divisional playoffs and never enjoyed another postseason under Jerry Glanville's "leadership."
How refreshing it is to hear commentators who know how to let the game breathe and focus primarily on football. Bob Trumpy broke the game down in simple terms, rather than useless jargon. No wonder I learned so much and grew to love the sport so immensely. It was all about football, with a dash of PERTINENT stories, rather than pointless banter and silly pop culture references. Damned right you better get off my lawn, amateurs!
Love how Bob Costas had penciled in DALLAS COWBOYS PHILADELPHIA EAGLES MINNESOTA VIKINGS & SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS as playoff teams after Week 11 little did he or most everyone else knew that the VIKINGS would lose 5 in a row miss the playoffs EAGLES would lose 4 in a row before winning their last game of the year nearly missing the playoffs themselves with a valuable lesson to learn never assume anything
The Falcons beat themselves badly in this game with some ugly turnovers, making a declining Steeler team look like it was in top form, especially Terry Bradshaw.
I don't know whether those 4 super bowl the steelers won had a lot to do with Bradshaw performance, he was playing like his first 3 years and a rookie. It seems as if Bradshaw stop reading the defense and threw the ball no matter if the receiver were open, he played as bad as Malone and stout, and it cost the team maybe 1 or 2 more super bowl.
James Conner reminds me of William Andrews. Too bad Andrews got injured and had to retire. One of the all-time underrated players.
Didn't Atlanta set the trend in the early 80's for NFL teams to employ the One-Back offense?
I had read in Football Digest that William Andrews had to retire because he couldn’t use the bone to tilt his foot up towards his shin
@@suffix345 Yeah he tore his knee up so bad that he had nerve damage and ended up with drop foot. Non contact injury no less.
@@cfoster81 I guess I always thought that was the Redskins with Gibbs with Riggins and Joe Washington in 81 but I could be wrong.

I'm a Steelers fan but Fulton Kuykendall is about the best name ever.
Thanks for this
Thanks for posting - fun to watch Bradshaw's buggy whip arm again.
Awe the 80s when some MLB and NFL teams shared stadiums lol😂🏈Fulton County Stadium looked packed that sunny day
Looks glorious doesn't it? 👍
William Andrews caught 15 passes in this game. Still a Falcons record!
Robin Cole should be hall fame.
Not having Dave Scott (#70) and Warren Bryant (#66) in there did not help the Falcons' offensive line.
Amazing how the Steelers kept getting gouged on the flair pass to the RB on the flat.
lambert my favorite Steeler. the falcons backfield.more Steelers.
This Falcons loss was very disappointing to me. They were awful against the AFC Central that year and they had better personnel.
Better roster than the 81 Steelers? Not even close.

Franco Harris late in 4th quarter fumbled while running to the right with the ball in his left hand.
If I saw William Andrews running at me full speed I would piss my pants and run for for my life !!
Bob Costas on the mic?
Surprised Steeler offense didnt average 44points per game .
Lynn Swann's last TD
Not true, he scored a TD a couple weeks later in a 24-0 win over the Rams.
1980-81 steelers were so disappointing. Aging. David trout must have been the worst kicker ever.
if a team is old and aging, how can they be disappointing?
@@cityofchamps66I was 10 years old and expected the 70s steelers

What is your argument?

Georgia Bulldogs and Iowa Hawkeyes?

We need Weegie Thompson!!!
Say what you want about Bradshaw he won 4 rings what's ur claim to fame not to mention the major hits he to and gave in 13 seasons no regrets
Well he was MVP In 2 of them so I'd say he was a huge reason they won them.
