    Back then I was a Chargers fan because I'd lived in San Diego for a few years before moving to Idaho. Once there I remained a Chargers fan for the next two years, and then in 1983 came: *Chuck Knox,* who when I grew up in LA was HC of the Rams, and he built some juggernaut teams back then. Went to Buffalo for a couple years and then the Seahawks got him, and at that moment I became a Seahawks fan for life.
    I'd always had some affinity for the Seahawks, for no other reason than they were home-based in an area of the country I'd always wanted to live in; AND they had Steve Largent. I finally got my chance to live in WA just three years after Knox arrived in Seattle and I've lived here ever since. So I'm now a lifelong Seahawks fan, through thick and thin -- and I'd seen a lot of thin in the 90s.

    I remember seeing this game back then! It was a thrilling comeback by our Seahawks! Dave Trout’s field goal was just like what Blair Walsh of the Vikings did against us in the playoffs nearly six years ago. Wide left and not even close!

      Awesome. My son was 5 months old on this date, my wife and I had been married 3 years by then. Chances are I didn't see this game, because we lived in Idaho Falls at the time and the only regional games we got on local TV was the Denver Broncos; they were considered the regional team for our area.

    You want to know something wild? When Michael Dickson got that punt blocked, it became a live football, because a Ram player touched it. So, when Dickson got the ball again and kicked it, #28 for Seattle picked it up, and the referee called it down right there. #28 should have picked up the ball and walked into the end zone for a Seahawk touchdown. That was a live ball, but nobody (except me) realized it...not referees, coaches, players, announcers, fans, nobody. That is the biggest sports blunder I have ever seen, and nobody is talking about it. But, thanks for this upload, I look forward to watching it...GO HAWKS!!!💚💙

      Given it was a few days after Trenton Cannon cost the Niners a touchback against the Hawks (and Cody Barton would do the same against the Steelers) it probably was a good idea not to chance it. Besides, Tre Flowers' (in his thankfully last Hawk appearance) dumb ass probably would have tackled Amadi or tripped him anyway

      KC @ DEN-Criqui/Brodie
      BAL @ NYJ-Costas/Trumpy (the infamous Richard Todd/NY Post "argument" game where the two argued whether the NY Post truly had done a hatchet job on Richard Todd for nearly the whole 3rd quarter-virtually ignoring the action on the field)

    F that game. Steelers were up 21-3 and lost 24-21. Then with a chance for OT the K missed a chip shot FG. To add insult to injury the Steelers plane got fogged in so some went to a country western bar where one of the players broke his hand punching a mechanical bull. Bad bad day. Steelers age was really showing this season. Ham, Greene, Greenwood would retire after this season. However as weak as this team was if they had not blown late leads to KC and Seattle, they would have made the playoffs as a wild card.

    • @briane173
      @briane173 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CorePositionTrading Biggest reason why replay is such an integral part of the game now. Back then there WERE no replay officials; the NFL couldn't use what the networks were taping. Replay didn't play a part in games until after Super Bowl 40 and the phantom TD by Roethlisberger and the phantom holding call on Seattle. Mike Holmgren was on the competition committee for the next season and saw to it that there was a system in place to challenge calls on the field using replay, precisely _because_ of the jacked-up officiating in SB40. Ironic that the Steelers were involved in that debacle as well.

I think where instant reply became a real talking point was another Steelers game ... i think it was the 1978 or 1979 AFC Championship game with Houston and Renfro's catch in the back of the end zone being called back yet clearly he catch it ... changed the entire momentum of that game.
