Quaithe riddle may not be as complicated as people may feel. It's overall explaining Daenery's journey, her path, before she can be whom she truly is she must journey to become that. "To go north, you must journey south, to reach the west you must go east. To go forward you must go back and to touch the light you must pass beneath the shadow". Before addressing the issues North of the Wall, Daenery's must take care of the South. Before Daenery' can go to Westeros, she must accomplish things in the East. To go forward you must go back, she needed to return to the beginning of her journey, with the Dothraki before going forward to conquer. Touch the light you must pass beneath the shadow, this is pure duality, before you can reach your highest potential (the light), you must know and overcome obstacles (the dark).

The shadow clearly refers to Asshai. George decided not to go to Asshai later on but it’s clear in that he at one point intended for Dany to go there.

I still don't understand why they introduced Quaithe on the show to just drop her character from the show, maybe it was a decision to keep her true identity in the book a secret until the new books.

MAYBE the Lord of Light is a reader of the books and is a GRRM fan and is hedging his bets. Even the Lord of Light has no fucking clue who Aror Ahai is! Maybe Jon, maybe Dany, maybe even fucking Sam! So, he spreads around different visions regionally knowing that ONE of these has to be right. Just a theory.

When Princess Rhaenys is hiding,her black cat is with her. Arya chases him down. He scratches Joffery. But the big thing to back up my tin foil theory is...in Epilogue of ADWD, Cersei, Tommen, and Uncle Kevan r having supper. Tommen complains about the cat watching him through his window. I personally think that the lord of light only gives visions to explain to the red preist their purpose. Melessandra purpose is helping king snow so that is all she sees. On a positive note that means king snow is super important and won't be permanently dead anytime soon lol

Related to the Melisandre line I always thought that she was shown Stanis just because she needed to be at the wall to resurrect John. This was the only way she could get there.

Melissandra acts like someone who has been BURNED ! The Onion Knight kept her from Stannis' side at the battle of Blackwater. Her fix-it strategies didn't work to put Stannis back on track. She ended up being wrong about Stannis; he and his army were destroyed. BURNT ! ! ! !
Mellie learned that real life can overwhelm prophecy. She cannot waste time arguing with Jon or his protectors including Davros. Jon coming back to life is everything to her. It renewed Melissandra's faith. She has to get this fight for humanity going in a winning direction. Supporting Jon and Dany is our best hope for victory in the battles to come.
Best way to avoid Davros and watch Jon's back is being disguised. Would Arya see through her youth disguise ? Probably. Mellie is risking much at a time her powers are weakening. She also needs to muddy the waters. Mellie must keep people like Varys , Davros , and Arya off her trail. She has told Varys a truth and a lie. Solution. Leave as pretty Melissandra; return disguised as her old self.

I think Dany fits the prophecy of the prince that was promised but it's a little to obvious for GRRM in my opinion, I'm still convinced Jon is the PTWP or both of them are. Then again I love Jon so I might be bias

I think the Followers of the lord of light are like many other religions we have in our own "realm" there is the Bible and there are baptists, christians, Catholics etc. all interpret and praise God differently. When dibbing and dabbing in magic there's too much room open for Interpretation which is why everyone has the same info but all are interpreting it differently.

The Golden Company when we see them marching into kingslanding some have on their breastplate the same pattern as Quaithe an Melisandra so what does this mean we know they are from Essos an as some of them are Targaryan exiled soldiers after the Targaryan dynasty got taken out thanks to Tywin the Traiter Lannester so I thought that was interesting

I think the difference between Melisandre and Quaith is that Mel is too vain and ambitious to be vague. She will draw specific conclusions from her visions, and share them, even if they don't warrant it. She is not content with I told you so. She wants to lead the charge.
The Perfumed Senaschal was the name of the original ship Tyrion, Moquaru, and the dwarf girl were on that sank. Then they got picked up by the slavers with the exception of Moquaru who goes with Victarion.
OH!!! I have something interesting to say about fire when it is around Daenerys Targaryen!! The other day my husband pointed out that whenever Daenerys is getting ready to strike with fire, you hear that strange sound, specifically noticed when she calls her dragons to strike. However, we noticed that sound started when she was in the Dothraki temple seconds before striking the Khalasar & his Kos. We both wondered if it was Dany using some sort of fire magic that's handed down to the Targaryen's. Just an interesting idea from the shows that isn't in the books.

Hey Mama Gray, I recently thought of something and I need your opinion. This is related to the the House of the Undying (show version). So Dany goes beyond the wall and when she goes beyond the wall she sees Drogo and Rhaego. Do you think this could be foreshadowing the fact that when she goes beyond the wall that only Drogon and Rhaegal are the only dragons to survive and that Viserion will be the dragon to die. And along those lines does this foreshadow the ending of the series in which she leaves the throne and leaves to be with her husband and child (in Dragon form) to places unknown or possibly lands of always winter?

If the hexagonal shape is unique to the red priestesses and priests the I believe Quaithe is the first of their order and hece the most powerful and so her strong ability to see future events
If the shape is not unique to them and just an Asshai thing, then she could just be a magical priestess or the people from one of the theories

I just don't understand who the Red God is and why it's identity/origin/purpose vs the Children of the Forest isn't of more curiosity. It seems like it's The Red God vs The Others (created by the Children) - why do they battle each other? The pawns (the main characters in the entire story) only serve these two gods....shouldn't these two gods then be what everyone theorizes about?

It does seem very odd they don't seem to talk to each other since they study at a temple. We never hear any like minded thought either
there is definitely a relation between the god of light and the targaryens. the targaryen power came from the flames of the dragons. i honestly believe the god of light is real in a way. so far we've only seen his priests/priestesses actually *do* something.
i have doubts about melisandre. all the red priest(esse)s in essos seem so much different than her, which makes me think she isn't truly a red priestess. she seems sketchy to me, but on the other hand she summoned jon back to life, and he has the blood of the dragon.
for me got "conspiracies" are more unpredictable than any other thing. i applaud grrm for having created the most plot twists the literary world had seen so far. at this point, almost all theories make sense, and almost all theories sound bollocks. i guess that's what makes the wait worthy.

This is a year later (and after S7, heh), but I've re-read again and if you mix book and show, and think the "powers" come from one ancient source (and not two opposings): I think Quaithe MAY BE future Daenerys. Hear me out! In S7, Dany says she believes in HERSELF; and she's surely been THE power since Vaes Dothrak (leveled-up huge!). I think she could have the "power" of the NK, the 3ER (greenseeing-plus, possibly whispering to the past, making prophecies), but she may be WAY more powerful than Bran/NK. She HAS guided *herself* (the hard way: I'd guess Hizdahr is one of many perfumed seneschals), and while "show Quaithe" is pathetic, I can imagine a future, bored Daenerys deciding to guide herself (in a way her old self would accept) to possibly BEWARE ALL. (Sadly including Tyrion, Varys, and esp Jon). Quaithe's the only one who told her "back to Vaes Dothrak"; I think future Daenerys could be "warging" the body of the masked-Quaithe, but otherwise mind-to-mind with Dany (as if a schizo, but "the voices are real"), to avoid some awful fate. Not once is she told to avoid the North or the cold, though (that would've been key - IF the North isn't where Daenerys "belongs", so maybe Quaithe has already "fixed" a wrong that happened in a "wrong" timeline?)
Even in the books (or ESPECIALLY in the books), Dany's finally headed to Vaes Dothrak, and while she's told to "beware ALL," Quaithe also lists only ONE "Lion," apparently ONE seneschal (and in the books that seems obviously to be Hizdahr), etc. In the show, Cersei would be the lion (I think Cersei's more dangerous to Daenerys than Tyrion... impossible to translate book Quaithe to show Quaithe)... Jorah seems to be an exception, though "beware ALL" negates that. UNLESS Daenerys (or who I used to think was Rhaella or friend-of-Rhaella) is just keeping Dany on her toes in Qarth. Not a bad idea to "beware ALL".
Just a thought. I wouldn't have thought it without the S7 speech to Jon, and her "voices in her head" in Dany X, ADWD. If Bran can affect time, Dany can blow it out the water! (Plus it would be neat if "the powers" weren't limited to 3ER and CotF/Others, but part of the same power that was in that world before man "tamed" dragons... which was Valaryia's downfall, which show Daenerys knows now.)

the west and east part might have meant that deny must go EAST to vaes dothrak willingly or not, why you ask...to get the dothraki so she can have a bigger stronger army to take with her WEST to westeros. the north and south part might have meant that while she is at dragonstone, eventually she will have to go NORTH and help deal with the walkers but first she has to go SOUTH and take the iron throne and unite the 7 kingdoms to fight together in the great war. again you ask why not just go north deal with the walkers first...because with all denys, jon and the vales resources at full strength they don not stand a chance and that lannister queen will not help, and they need all the might of the 7 kingdoms...even then it's still might not be enough, dragons or not.

I was wondering why the LoL didnt tell Mel she had the wrong dude! She was with Stannis for years. What was that about? If everything that happens is the will of the gods....That storyline bugs me.
Maybe because the purpose is to position Stannis or Jon to fight the Whitewalkers (if we assume that the LoL is the Other's opponent), not to tell Melisandre the truth, whatever that is. Maybe the visions are for "actionable items", for the LoL's purpose (or whoever has the technology for fire visions).

Quaithe warned Dany. They will want her not just her dragons cause she brought the dragons to life. Its dany who's born again not her dragons. And the warlocks became powerfull when dany came. Thats why they kidnapped her as well. I think Quaithe is to dany as bloodraven is to Bran. And AA just means "helper of mother". And AA awakens dragons..so he helps mother by awakering the dragon...dany needs to awaken her dragon like all her ancestors tried to and failed (and remember who she is). AA needs to help awaken the dragon probably using stone...dragonglass? I think the dragon IS lightbringer...the maiden made of light. Her words are fire and blood cause its what they used to awaken the dragon (and what she used to awaken her eggs so we know the bloodmagic works...just wrong "dragon"). But I think thats what they tried at summerhall as well. And why one drank wildfire...its not the eggs they are trying to awaken but the Targaryen herself. Its why the witch killed drogo...he and her unborn son was the kingsblood needed...add fire...I think she tried to awaken the dragon...but she didn't know dany would put her eggs in the fire and kill the witch....3 bloodsacrifices for 3 eggs. Otherwise it would have been just 1 dead baby. I think it was meant for her....like summerhall. Bloodraven guided bran to become what he is meant to become. And quaithe guides dany. Personally I don't think her dragons are the "awaken dragons from stone". I think either Jon is AA meant to help dany awaken the dragon. OR (little) Sam is AA cause he will read how to awaken the dragon...or Sam will find out who AA is and tell AA what he is meant to do. I think Mel saw it correctly...she saw snow...could be jon but sam was also in the snow with jon. But its probably jon. Sam knows what AA is for, mel knows bloodmagic and can practice it, jon is AA who does it and dany will be lightbringer come again. I think its the old prophecy about the blood betrayal by the little brother....thats why the woods witch used the valeryan word and didn't just say "your little brother" to Cersei.... not to be vague but cause its THAT little brother....Euron pulling the same crap as the original one...we don't know what shit he pulled before he went home. The guy is hording warlocks for crying out loud. He sailed to Asshai so he probably knows about the prophecy and went to Valeria...thats too coincidental. The dragon must have 3 heads isn't about literal dragons. I think its about the pact at the Gods eye...fire AND ice. Dany passing beneath the shadow to reach the light fits nicely with her becoming Lightbringer as well. She still has one more fire to light as well...screams bloodmagic to me. And one more person betrays her. Very blood betrayal of the younger brother.
Dany and AA I can place especially when they started to call Dany mother and AA means helper of mother. Thats one dragon mystery "solved" for my own peace of mind. Why Quaithe guids dany is obvious. But the ice part of this story will be more interesting I think. What did bloodraven try to guide bran towards? I saw someone online who thought bran would warge into the other brans and build the wall. And in the end warge into the nights king cause its one of the starks. That person pointed out how bran was laying in the same position as the NK was when he got stabbed and the children apologised to bran. But why would bloodraven guide bran towards becoming the NK..the NK killed him for crying out loud. I think it ties into the secret of house stark. House Targaryen is easy, all want to awaken a dragon...fire and blood...duhh. Mels bloodmagic....the burnings...kingsblood...to try to awaken the dragon or make lightbringer. She just doesn't know the sword isn't lightbringer...the vision was correct her interpretation is just off a bit. But the Starks are more difficult to crack. Apparently the north doesn't remember what they are meant to remember and what winter is coming means or why there needs to be a stark at winterfell. But I think Ned knew and was about to tell jon (including about his mother) before he died. I also think Lyanna knew and she knew about the prophecy rhaegar knew from the wood witch...so she would know about jons destiny and so would ned have known. They were kings of winter, that means something. I think the WW are the Starks, just like crester and the nights queen knew this. I don't think its human sacrifice to give the kids to the WW especially cause they apparently grew up and came for their brother...there is still humanity in there. I'm not sure the WW are evil. Their symbols represent the gods eye for a reason. They are communicating this for a reason. I haven't figured this out yet, but why would bloodraven...a Targaryen guide bran especially if the guy online is right and he will be the NK....why would a Targaryen want that? Aren't Targaryens more into awaking dragons? Or is the NK another dragon? I had a weird thought about old nan though. If and I do mean IF the guy online is right and bran becomes the other brans and he flies by communicating through time through the bird. Nan could know the stories and thinks all the brans are one...cause she knew they were one..or will be one in the future. But if she knew about the past and knew about bran in it....Why would old nan tell bran not to listen to the bird? Why tell the boy not to listen to himself? Why tell him the story about the nights queen? And that would make nan really old.....uhh how sure are we the nights queen is dead? She can be an icy version of Melissandre....she could be old nan. Could she be the woman who needs to be avenged from the vision? This ties together I just don't know how yet. But 2 families with magical blood....safe bet those are 2 dragons. We probably know more when they dive into Lyanna I guess. Can Quaithe be Shiera Seastar? She did blood magic to look younger and if bloodraven was still alive to guide bran why can't she be as well to guide dany. The sibling probably discovered some prophecy they are for filling. I don't think Quaithe is just like mel or the rest of them....she hides her face and knows what will happen better than any of them and is more powerfull.....even in Dany's vision she saw Quaithe as stars.
Oeh just saw another one of the guys vids and it got me thinking. Its links so beautifuly to my own thoughts (eventhough he doesn't know it hihi). He talked about brans vision of a white haired woman doing blood sacrifice infront of the tree AT WINTERFELL. A white haired woman doing blood sacrifice to the tree. Nights queen or woods witch? Or it doesn't matter which one did blood sacrifice at winterfell. The nights queen probably did the same thing at the wall. But if it was the wood witch at winterfell...that later talked to Rhaegar...interesting. Or if its the nights queen.
.. .why was she doing blood sacrifice at winterfell? And he linked Winterfell or what it was before winterfell was build on it...a tree with caves just like bloodravens. I think we need to look at the WW differently. And we need to look at the Starks differently....they are the more human version of the children of the forest....probably a mix or something..just like the wood witch was/is. The children fed their dead to bloodravens tree...and the starks their dead to the one all around winterfell. Its the same blood sacrifice to the tree. The north remembers....yeah the trees do. There must always be a Stark at winterfell...yeah to feed the damn tree. Just like Ned cleaning his sword infront of the tree..again feeding the blood to the tree. Blood magic turned into customs they don't know the meaning of over time. The crypts are simular to bloodravens cave...to the children. If the children made WW...they sacrificed a human to create a WW with dragonglass. What if thats the awakened dragons from stone part...dragonglass through the heart awakened the dragon...they did a human sacrifice. AA is meant to awaken dragonS from stone....its not just dany. I think to crack the Starks and the WW we need to look at them through the eyes of the children. The WW are kinda like the rat king..he can only feed on his own young.... needs to be Stark blood to be turned into a WW.. Starks blood which is children's blood. But wouldn't that mean the WW they turned was also one of their own distant offspring? 🤔 Also it makes sense for bran to build Winterfell....it protects the tree and probably the entrance to the cave is probably in the crypts. Bloodravens cave had spells to keep them out and winterfell has spells to keep them inside. This shit is linked. But again we don't know enough to understand it. But it is interesting that bloodraven...a Targaryen gets into the Stark business...while I'm guessing the wood witch did the sacrifices at the tree and told Rhaegar about the AA prophecy. Its connected.

i think you are overthinking the cats paw blade message. HBO would never foreshadow the death of a major character with hard evidence. I think that the blade is given to arya by littlefinger to awaken trust in the two. Littlefinger has spies and may well know how lethal arya is and that she is best your ally not your enemy. PLS GET BACK TO ME AND/OR make a video on this

I first want to say I really enjoy listening to your videos. They're very insightful. However, I disagree Quaithe is a follower of R'hllor. You made a great observation about Quaithe's mask being similar in design to the red priestesses' chokers, but that is only for the tv show. The writers of the tv show may had assumed Quaithe was a follower of the Lord of Light but I highly doubt George R.R. Martin intended this. Why would Quaithe warn Daenerys about Moqorro if they believe in the same god? It's because they don't.
In the books, George R.R. Martin implies the religion of R'hllor is a sham and the priests are charlatans, which is true in Melisandre's case. They incorrectly interpret visions based on what they see and what other people want to believe. The red priests in Essos think Daenerys is Azor Ahai because she best fits the description. If Jon been in Daenerys place in Essos instead then they would believe he is Azor Ahai reborn. There is a lack of communication between the red priests because they have no means to communicate such great distances apart. Quaithe on the other hand has a glass candle and she's certainly not letting Bennero, Moqorro or Melissandre use it.
Also I think Quaithe is Shiera Seastar for a few reasons. There is a significant reason why Quaithe was the only one out of the three representatives of Qarth who spoke to Daenerys in the common tongue. She is Westerosi, not Asshai'i. Also, in Daenerys dreams Quaithe's mask was made of pure starlight. It's no coincidence Quaithe appears to Daenerys again in the Dothraki sea as a guide. Shiera Seastar is meant to be a play on Stella Maris, who is not only the Virgin Mother but also a star sailors use to navigate in the sea. It's also not a coincidence the Dothraki word for star and comet is 'shierak'. Daenerys just so happens to follow the red comet shierak to Qarth where she meets Quaithe for the first time? As far as being a guide, Quiathe's prophecies are literally telling Daenerys where to go. Quaithe wants Daenerys to go to Westeros, not Asshai by the Shadow as Dany assumed. She wants Daenerys to go east, not west... perhaps south too if it led to where Bran is in the land of always winter. If the world of Ice and Fire is round, then Westeros is east of Asshai.
Even if Quaithe is not a Westerosi, she is still not from Asshai as the books and wikis say. Her full name is Quaithe of the Shadow. Asshai is called 'Asshai by the Shadow. ' it's near the Shadow but not actually apart of it. This means Quaithe is literally from the Shadow. The city that's in the heart of the Shadow Lands is Stygai. It's a city that's rumored to have dragons amongst other things. Not. A. Coincidence.

She is from Asshai which is the easternmost place in Essos and she has journeyed all the way to Castle black which is the northernmost place in Westeros ( if you only consider the seven kingdoms). She has journeyed quite far.
