      Lord Doomer That's just what the Nights Watch turned into, it's not what it originally was. It used to be considered extremely honorable to join the NW but over the years people forgot what it was really meant for and meant to be, so it basically became a glorified prison camp. As they state in the text and show though, "The North Remembers", which is why there are many more northern nobles who freely join the Watch than southern ones. They remember the original purpose of the Watch and that they are important to the defense of the realm.

Who knows, maybe Bronn is Luke Skywalker's lost brother or son or nephew or second cousin 17 times removed. I just wonder how many of the smallfolk are really lost sons/daughters of lords, presumed dead and forgotten, having elaborate plans that never come to fruition.

    I feel like Bronn represents the perfect survivor in the GoT world. He steadily works his way up the ladder, staying out of trouble unless the risk is worth the reward, making as few enemies as possible. He's in it for himself, but there's definitely a tiny bit of kindness there, based on his treatment of Tyrion - this pretty much represents a realistic human mindset, not a shiny hero and not an evil villain, but a grubby and less than perfect guy that, with a little bit of luck and hard work has manage to improve his condition.

    Bronn's fighting style draws more from the Bravosi Waterdance than Westeros knightly swordfighting. He uses movement, he never wears heavy armor... don't know who he is but he learned to fight in Bravos.

      I think the reason he doesn't tell anyone who his father or his family is, is because he doesn't know either, bronn has been killing from a very young age, since 5 years old, he doesn't fight with honor but he fights with skill, these are the marks of someone who does what they have to, to survive when they have no one to protect them and everyone is potentially trying to kill them, i think bronn is nothing but an orphan and a street rat who's tough upbringing among the cuthroats, thieves, rapists and mercenaries of the lower class has turned him into a viscous, brutal and skillful warrior

      @s-g-b1670 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      For the moment, nothing confirms or denies this idea.
      The fact that Jacken is Rhaegar would explain many mysteries:
      Among the characters of Bronn, Podrick, Brienne, Shae, Varys, Illiryo, ect ... some work for him.
      For example, Daario is a faceless that Jacken ordered to protect his sister Daenerys. How many times Daario saved daenerys?
      Why does Bronn protect Tyrion?
      I think the theories about the fatherhood of J Snow, Silvio forel = Jacken H'gar are right. But they are not sufficiently developed.
      Rhaegar, alias Jacken, is the father of jon, the brother of Danaerys and the protector of Arya.
      > Jacken is fond of arya because she physically and psychologically resembles Lyanna.
      > Jacken is Rhaegar and ... Silvio Forel, teacher of ...!

    Syrio did say a sword must be part of your arm. But he also had a giant speech about how sometimes a cat is just a cat. And I think that's the case for Bronn. He's just the kind of character who is cooler when backstory is left unsaid. Nothing more, nothing less.

    I dont think Bronn is nights watch or a wildling, I believe him when he said work, probably something very shady and high paying, possibly when he was younger and more reckless than he is now. I think that scene was just to show how well traveled and seasoned Bronn actually is as a fighter, since he is one of the few warriors on the show who isn't a knight or a war vet(although he may well be a war vet and just not want to talk about it).

  • @julialefebvre1718

    I think the theory that he could be a surviving Reyne of Castemere is fun. And it could be several things. He could very well have been like Arya: a child surviving Tywin's masacre of his whole family, adapting to survive, found his way to Braavos maybe. There are more than the Faceless Men knowing how to fight in Braavos One can fight with a Braavosi sword fighting style without being No One. I find that theory very appealing, because it's be a parallel with Arya. He would have bid his time, learn to fight, learn to blend in, done the odd sell sword job here and there (you can go North of the Wall by the sea, so who knows why he was there, he is not very forthcoming so we can't assume he always speaks the truth either). And now his time for revenge has presented itself, and he goes for the slow and long run.
    Him being a wildling also is a good theory. We know that Tormund has climbed it "half a hundred times" (Ygritte in S03E06), so Bronn could very well have climbed it the one time and discretely learned life south of the wall... But the fact that he can read is strange as wildlings don't seem to be able to.
    In any cases, it was an interesting videos, with very interesting theories. Why did I wait so many years to check this type of videos out? I have been having a blast lately, and to come across one about this character that has gotten me very curious was very nice indeed. :)

      One of the things that makes Bronn one of my favorite characters is the fact that he doesn't need to be some form of walking enigma with a higher connection to anything other than a Sellsword. I think in a way that makes him and what he has achieved more special. I always assumed he was a well-traveled, experienced fighter who learned how best to fight in a way that works for him, that being a combination of excellent form and the cleverness to forgo the concept of honor on the battlefield by way of fighting dirty when needed.
      To me, Bronn is exactly as he seems: A skilled fighter who has fought all over the world, seeing and learning much along the way. He isn't (to my knowledge) anything more than that, and I hope he stays that way. Bronn is just that...Bronn.

    I think it's also worth mention that Jerome Flynn portrays Bronn with a Northern (English) accent, specifically that of Lancashire. Perhaps I'm thinking about this too much, although since Jerome naturally speaks with a southern RP accent - why would he bother to put on a northern accent if his character isn't from the north? Time and time again we've seen actors putting on this accent to denote that they're from the north. Just a thought :D

      With Bronn, I don't feel his accent really matters. He may just be putting it on just to seem like a northerner. His backstory is so mysterious that you can't put any weight on any of his actions. It is pretty clear that he will betray the Lanisters at one point though, whether it is due to convoluted backstory or re-acquaintance with Tyrion.

    • @p0sn
      @p0sn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That's true, he could be putting it on as Pycelle puts on his old man act or Daenerys feigning ignorance when it came to Valerian. As to the Dornishman mistaking his accent from that of King's Landing I suppose we can forgive this given the inconsistencies with the city's accent (see Davos). I agree with you that he'll almost certainly betray the Lannisters, what I think is the pertinent question now is what his motives will be.

    After reading your comments I must say that I get it. The hand with attachments would need the robotics of today's world to really work. But then again their world might not have our technology but they have magic. He would not sport a war hammer, but I think it would be possible to have a hand that could attach blade or shield if he wanted to search for such a thing in his magical world.

      So true, but would it not be better than no sword and just a gold hand. Although that gold hand is good for punching someone in the face. What would be amazing is if he could have a special sword made. He has enough money for many different types of weapons that he could attach and switch up as needed. His brother had a special saddle made for him to ride, that was what triggered the idea. His brother could design some wild weapons I bet. I am glad guns are not in this story not because I am against them but because they take the fun out of the battle. I wish we could all carry swords and daggers and make armor the new fashion trend. Imagine the models on the runway with light armor skirts and blouses etc.... I would wear it I bet many other women would also. Maybe I should design and make my own. Anyway, I am off to dream some more.

    Bronn is the son of the current night king, and yes they are both from castamere. Bronn was 5years old when his home was destroyed, and he learned that men shit themselves when they die. He survived the exile North of the wall, but his father and others from castamere didn't. So they were among the first turned to white walkers, and hence rule as the night kings court. I don't think Bronn was surprised by the white walker that was brought to kingslanding to show cersie either. That's my theory.

    You answered a lot of my questions about Bronn. I do not read the books so I have to rely on you and Kyle for the majority of that kind of background. My suspicion is that Bronn was squire to a hedge knight who traveled to Bravos. The knight was killed in service to some lord or other down there and Bronn was stranded. After that, he learned all he could and sold his sword. That would explain a lot of his knowledge. Work beyond the Wall might have entailed transport of slaves. Didn't Ser Jorah disgrace himself by selling slaves beyond the Wall?

    I'm thinking son of a bravosi man, freefolk mother(she hit harder). They had to climb the wall when he was younger and made their way to flea bottom. He picked up the accent there, eventually got into fighting and found money, women, and wine in it. Then he spent his life using his skills to gain said fancies. This is only what I figure.

    • @TheDzudas
      @TheDzudas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He was propably willdling that got cought at young age, so they sent him to catch wildlings (because he has knowledge about willdlings), then he stops work for slavers or run away from them. Then goes to Bravoos,because there slavery is banned so he spend some time (learns some new tricks). After that he travels to Westros to sell his services.

    Catelyn did not hire Bronn. Bronn accepted Tyrions coin for his room because the inn was full. Bronn tagged along with Tyrion in hopes of making more easy money, that's why he fought for Tyrion in the trail by combat. Enjoyed the video QOT.🌹 👏👏

    Perhaps Bronn is former member of the golden company! It would explain a lot. And as far as him asking Tyrion what happens if you default on a loan may have not been a question but a way for Bronn to make sure Tyrion would take the iron bank seriously!

    Isn't there a theory that the Faceless Men have a pact with the White Walkers?
    I keep getting this feeling that they are quietly getting their people in position. (If Arya becomes a confidant then I will add her to this list.)
    - Bron
    - Podrick
    - Missandei
    There is something about these three that doesn't add up. They know things that they shouldn't know only things that high born people should know. They are all also the "aide-de-camp" and confidants of their "bosses" Bron/Jaime, Podrick/Brienne, and Missandei/Daenerys. At this point, they have acquired their explicit trust and allegiances.
    Not sure what it means but it isn't haphazard.

    • @BossJones
      @BossJones 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Missandei has been a translator for majority of not all her life so we can assume shes gotta be pretty sharp.
      Podricks from a well known family and is a squire. Podrick Payne, of House Payne. He's like a cousin or something minor so it makes sense that he knows a bit.
      Bron has traveled a bit.
      Out of these ppl Id say Missandei has greatest potential to be sleeper but I doubt it with all three.

    He is the guy who learnt the hard way that if you want it, you need to go and get it! No rules, as rules are made by those who have the authority, hence the quote " we must adapt to the circumstances, learn some new tricks!'. He understood that advancing his fighting skills would be useful to everyone, and he did it. Roaming around the world, he visited places, made acquaintances everywhere, learnt different cultures, traditions. He is the survivor. Leveled moral compass to know what is right, but doing things when they need to be done, as the situation demands. He is as morally corrupt and wants things as we all do: Money, Wealth, Tits, Booze and all the party in the world and there is no limit in the way of achieving this. Loyalty shifts based on the ability of people to control wealth and achieve power. He is no different than all of the Lords of Westeros. He is the guy who deals with it! This is what we have, this is what we can do and if that takes us closer to our goal, then fuck it, let's do it. And the goal is: Shitload of money on you account, fancy Mansion with a lot of half naked girls. Or to put it in GOT reference: I want a castle!

    In the books, he is a very minor character. The TV series uses Bronn to cover many characters, which is useful for the audience for continuity. Bronn is one of the deadliest people in GoT, that's about it. Have to see how often he says, "not today."

    To be honest, i'd love any of those theories to be true, but if he turns out to be just a sellsword, that wouldn't mind me either. In fact the best thing would be if we never found out. Having that air of mistery around him, makes Bronn so much better of a character:D

    Bronn is just awesome. I don't think he's a faceless man just because he keeps going on about getting paid, his castle, and marrying a highborn beauty. He's literally been harping on that since he won Tyrion's trial by combat. And that's the only reason I think he's still with team mad queen, he's waiting to get paid. He's been adapting to circumstances since we first meet him.

    Bronn probably got his north-of-the-Wall gig through one of the northern houses that was hard hit by wildling incursions. The Umbers, for instance, knew that the Night's Watch was worthless, and that if they needed some wildling chieftain gone they'd have to pay good money for it. Bronn is as seasoned a vet as there is in Westeros, and as long as he could deal with the harsh conditions beyond the Wall, he would have been as good a candidate as any to serve vengeance on behalf of a northern house.

  • @ladydewynter674
    @ladydewynter674 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lady Gray, you have developed good evidence for various explanations of Bronn's origin. He has stayed alive with a whole skin because he's smart, skilled with various weapons, and he's quick as a cat to size up any situation and turn it to his advantage. He could be just a very canny, successful sellsword on the make. He might not do much more in the books as Bronn, but in the show, he may be taking a storyline from another character in the books, one possibly from WOW we haven't met as yet. Thanks for another fine video. Cheers!
