I have a Sennheiser PC38X. I have it hooked up to a UGREEN USB-C to 3,5mm jack. It sounds fine, but it doesn't get very loud. I want to add more volume to my headphones and use Dolby Atmos. I'd imagine that this will be more than adequate to give me more volume given the very low impediance (32 ohms) of my PC38X.
@@ryanhostudio Yeah, the $100 amps seem like overkill and are needed for 100+ ohm impediance. I am just looking for something to add a little more juice and let Atmos or DTS:X handle my surround.
I just bought these headphones and one thing i noticed that NO TH-camR HAS MENTIONED is that the mic pics up audio from the headset. This is very annoying when it comes to being talking to friends and gaming. Has anyone experienced this? If so, whats the fix besides lowering the volume?
On Discord, I use Krisp and other echo cancelation stuff. Only downside is that when I laugh loudly, it cuts out this issue happens with alot of open backs I think.
well most of open back headphone have that kind of issue, you can tune the mic and active background noise cancelation although it may affect your mic quality tho ( not like a walkie talkie but, still )
Nice video! Switched to the PC38x from the Beyerdynamic 770pro (which I still love) due to the open acoustics so that I can still hear the baby monitor or my wife or kids if they call for me. They sound different but still very good, especially for gaming. Music wise I still prefer the 770pro
This headphone is Cheaper on Drop............................. $169 for either the black or yellow version versus Amazon $180 for the black and $210 for the yellow ! Drop baby..... Your welcome, peace out.
I got the Sennheiser PC363D which I've owned since 2014 (10 years now) and they are still working great and sound great. Super light and I've dropped them countless times without any issues and ran over the cable with my chair. After 10 years the volume knob on the right ear has been a bit broken but I re-soldered it to bypass the volume control. The mute function by flipping the microphone up is also not working correctly. The rubber on the microphone is pealing off. I've purchased new earmuffs for them. Great set. If these are anything close to my PC363D's they should be solid.
The only issue is that it isn't wireless. There are some options for wierd headphones for example adding a mic to an HD6xx series. For wireless headphones I found the steelseries arctic nova pro wireless to be the only option if you care about audio. Out of the box its a bit too base heavy and treble light but the software allows for full EQ and there are guides on how to EQ the crap out of them to a as flat as possible frequency response curve based on measurements. After EQing them they sound pretty awesome even for music, and they are wireless and have swappable batteries.
Wireless is dog shat unless high end WiFi who cares wired = high res lag free perfect delivery who cares wireless.. these are the closest thing to a hd599 so there good very very very good I'd still choose a hd599 and a added mic
thank you sir. i’ve been using hyperx cloud 2s for 3 years and they’re awful🤣im looking to get a new headset with great quality and not an awful mic but don’t wanna break the bank. i do a lot of gaming with discord open and music playing. im stuck between these and a used pair of astro A50s. which of the 2 would you recommend? or is there a better option in the $130-$200 price range you would recommend?
The mic is amazing. All other headsets I've had picked up my son's voice in the background. (He games in the same room) With this headset they never hear him. I will say though the ear cups are a little too small/narrow. That's my biggest complaint.
In comparison to the HD 6XX which I own, this has better sound stage, less shouty at the mid range and detailed but pleasant treble(unlike my Beyer's), I heard this one and was surprised at how much I like it more than the HD 6XX, I agree that this is "under hyped", I heard it through a simple Apple lightening audio adapter and it sounded better than my desktop setup, that I think of ditching my setup and simply buying PC38X to run off the motherboard audio, I wonder what the next upgrade would be that maintains this tuning but improves on it and requires a DAC/AMP?
@@aeon7748 there really isn’t much out there with same profile. Maybe the sennheiser hd660s2 but i think it’s upper midrange isn’t as shouty but that could be thing too. I am using the diana MR and it’s basically an upgrade and very similar tuning as well but very expensive
Are these still viable in 2024? Want a great gaming headset with good sound stage/imaging and heard the hd560s are great too but dont want to do the whole microphone workaround with it.
more than viable i still use mine all the time because its light weight and the tuning is really good. Personally one of my favorites and i really doubt any other gaming headphone company is going to beat this one anytime soon
The cable is at least detachable , but is the hole for the 3.5mm jack able to fit a Bluetooth adapter like the COMSOON Bluetooth Receiver which visibly has a wide jack? I just want to turn these PC38x into Wireless ONLY when am not on desktop.
So what’s the incentive to upgrade from these for audiophile music listening? I got a DT 1990 Pro (EQ’d) and I really couldn’t tell a difference between that and this for music listening. I found the tuning to be more pleasant on the PC38X. Essentially- I went back to the PC38X. Why would I want to upgrade from it? Especially because it’s tuned like an HD 600. Like- detail, tuning, etc.
if you like the tuning of pc38x you would only upgrade for more resolution. But there’s not many open back headphones tuned as good as pc38x. I imagine the pc38x sounds better than dt 1990 pro, that one has way too much treble for me to handle
Currently in the market for new headphones, my previous headphones( epos gsp 500) have been dying on me for a while now and it’s pretty much time to switch, I’m kinda on the fence between the pc38x or astros a40, Im not sure which one I should go for cause they both seem good but I really want something that will give me a competitive edge
ive tried them twice, the first time prototype, second type like a month ago at canjam! I thought they were decent i think the tuning was on the bassier side, it definitely wasnt as natural sounding as the pc38x. I was only able to demo for music listening and not gaming though
maxwell is heavier, sounds more detailed and has more bass, the pc38x has better directional accuracy, more open sounding and lighter for longer gaming sessions
Hey! I bought these a while ago and started using it on my Xbox and my I’ve noticed the mic volume is extremely low, do you know if there is any potential fix?

Have you tried this with an apple usb-c to 3.5mm dongle? I have one but no improvements to the mic. Also what volume do you have set for the pc38x mic?
@ headset mics are just a bit annoying and not really much you can improve on. A usb-c dongle does actually help, but it was just boosting volume to the audio, not the mic (unless it did, very tiny difference) - but it’s cheap so it’s worth it. I think I was trying to improve it for OBS and iirc, I settled on just accepting that headsets mic are just decent, and getting a standalone mic is what’s best. Using filters to stop the digital noise (look this up and go down a rabbit hole) was what worked, etc. I’m not an audiophile and my ears aren’t perfect, but that’s my experience. Also it’s been awhile so sorry about that.
lol I wasn’t being literal but good I’m glad to hear other people are watching him. Him and ask these other TH-camrs make me want to buy the pc 38x but I play ps5 so I’m not sure if I should or not I use the audeze penrose RN!
