One of the few videos out there that actually compares microphone quality. The back to back sound quality test for the microphone is really appreciated. I suspected _any_ BT headphones with microphones would be appreciably worse. This proved that, not that Logitech is going to have the best microphones, or even better than Sennheiser. Overall, this type of review is exactly why I come to TH-cam for reviews. Thank you!

Honestly, if you'd like different headphones without the mic, I'd recommend getting DROP's HD6xx's. Much better sound quality.
I have the PC38x's and the HD6xx's and just swap between them when I do and do not need a mic.
I used to use an Antlion mic on the HD6xx's but the additional cables were annoying and it developed a short in the line that killed it.
Much as a removable mic can be nice, I find the removable ones are more prone to failure than something built in.

Quick note. For the concern about denting in the outer mesh, it could easily be popped back out with anything that will fit into the mesh that is sturdy enough to apply pressure to. A sturdy sewing needle or thin metal probe, etc. could do the trick.
I purchased the 37X in March, 2019 and loved it from the start. Then in March of this year I bought the GSP 500 in an attempt to upgrade my sound quality even more, but found the comfort level to be the worst of any headset I have used. So I am very interested in the 38X, however, one issue I've experienced with the 37X is the mic picking up my breathing MUCH more than the GSP 500 due to the length of the mic arm.
I wish Sennheiser had reduced the length of the mic arm to keep it out from under the nose and not directly in front of the mouth. My GSP 500 mic is still a better quality and does not pick up incidental sounds as much. As much as I'd love to get the 38X, I will instead look for ways to better pad the top bar of my GSP 500 headset.
Side note: I also bought the GSX 1000 Gaming Amp with my GSP 500 and am very pleased with it. However, I also have the EVGA Nu Audio sound card and find it provides much better clarity and mic support. So it is something to consider if you are looking for an audio amp.

And for anyone reading this that doesn't have one of these sets, definitely get them. Typically gaming headsets aren't good for music, but these definitely don't fall into that stereotype (no pun-intended... ok maybe a little intended).

I really cant agree on this - As an Aussie I purchased from drop got them sent and after much research I confirmed that the mic was inoperable/broken; This after ALSO purchasing an EPOS amp to run them through thinking this might be a fix. Yet no. Via various boards across the internet I found this was a common issue. So in contact with Drop they are happy to exchange *if* I send the item back to them that would take about two months of postage time and of not having a headset. Essentially I'll have to buy another headset if I want to get my headset fixed ...So while this might be an option in the US/Canada I cant recommend the headset for other customers.

With open-back headphones it's not really that necessary (although it'll be a neat feature), because it's like you're wearing nothing. I have the Sennheiser PC360 G4ME, which is basically the Game One, before they added all the red, wich is basically the PC37X, and when I put them on it's basically like wearing nothing at all, you can hear everything around, including your voice. But I've also used a headset with side-tone and it's very helpful too, specially to avoid screaming.

To be more exact i am a console player (PS4/5). Been using astro A50s since PS3. I have been looking to do a custom setup to get better quality and value in the $400 range. But, when i start to research i get overwhelmed by all the information and stats to the point that i get confused or just give up for awhile.

Open back is a personal preference thing rather than a right or wrong choice in a lot of things. In comp gaming it has use in better sound depiction and pin pointing and it helps with talking into a microphone and normalizing your voice. Try plugging your ears and talking and youll see what i mean. Closed ear are still very good tho, more of a bass option and better for louder exterior environments

Dimitri The reason why the GSP 600 and GSP 500 are big and bulky and their ergonomics in terms of design is so you can use them while you using a VR headset because otherwise you wouldn't be able to use them with VR headset without them being extremely uncomfortable or break and to prevent hot spots with people with wide or tall heads

It isn't difficult to bend the metal grill/casing on the
Drop PC38X headset, back properly to it's shape if you end up bending it inwards.
Can use any wire bend it in a shape of a hook ,just make sure it can fit and go through the metal grill and easy to work with.
    For example(steps and warnings):-
Just use a safety pin ,
you can use the U shaped end of it to hook in the bend metal frame out ,
may require a few/many of em to do it evenly and properly at a time to not mess up more.

    Questions for PS5 users.
I’ve had these for about 1 1/2 weeks. Mic is loads better than my PS Golds. Sound is better but not to the extent I expected, so I might be missing something. So regarding FPS games (namely R6):
    1) Stock or Val our pads?
    2) 3D Audio on or off?
    3) Hifi or Night Mode
Not an audiophile so please be gentle with your replies. ;)

I'd advise against buying this now. I'm seeing a lot, and I mean A LOT of issues with this model. The drivers, the mic, and the pads are really inconsistent between each unit, and I saw 1 or 2 where the DD just straight up died after a few hours. if they sort out these manufacturing issues it would be an excellent buy.

    • @rudy_dstroys1821
      @rudy_dstroys1821 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I haven't purchased from Massdrop (DROP) in while but I can agree to the build quality of their stuff, it's not always the best and the longevity of the quality seems to be short term or have short lifespan. My K7XX number 69 (I was one of the first ones to get one) started having driver issues, when lows would hit the driver would rattle. I exchanged it for a new one 2 years later, right before the warranty was over and to say the least, it didn't have any driver issues. However, the build quality of the headphone itself has gone down considerably. Pads are now faded black, the headband support where the strings reside, which act as an additional support that adjust depending on your head size, have deteriorated a lot that it's function is no longer how it was from the beginning, headband pleather already wearing out and plastic feels like it creaks more than before.....all of this while trying to baby it as much as possible and not using it very often....
With that said, DROP does offer some good deals for a cheap price, especially when it comes to headphones but just remember that a lot of these products are made in or around China with better standards than usual but still fall short of their original origin of fabrication and assembly. You get what you pay for.
