I bought the Audeze Maxwell a couple of months ago. Easily the best headset I've heard. Magnificent for gaming & music is phenomenal. Only downside... it's hefty. It's on the heavier side. Plus side is quick switch from wired, Bluetooth (for work laptop) and 2.4GHz. Gaming experience is truly amazing.
@KGB-FSB I got used to the extra weight. The audio is phenomenal and quite configurable. Yes, they're on the heavier side, but well distributed by the head strap.
Yup. Returned mine because they're so heavy. For closed back gaming I use hd 620s but If I need a microphone I use either cloud 3 wireless or a separate XLR mic
I hope you get a chance to review the beyerdynamic mmx300 and mmx330 them not having a detachable mic is bit concerning but I feel like wired gaming headsets are a rare breed in 2024, great vid as usual.
From someone that is trying to do a build where almost all cables remain as non visible as possible, the steelseries battery system is really enticing. Both seem to have very good sound.
@@TheProvokedPrawn That is my thought but still have to test the ROG Delta 2, a few years back I tested the ROG delta S and the Ear Cups were super confortable.
I’m one of those few people who actually prefer the heavier, more hefty feel of headphones, it’s just more comfortable for me. So it actually just makes them overall that much better overall in my experience
Very nice information on the Maxwell. I've been interested in them. You are convincing me to get them. I've noticed that Amazon has a discount that is nice.
You mentioned that the ear cushions on the Nova Pros wore out after some use. How many hours would you say you used them before you had this issue (or just how long did you have the headset if you dont know how many hours)?
Hours wise I couldn't tell you exactly, but it was well over a year of basically daily use for like 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (except when I was reviewing other headsets obviously) See here - th-cam.com/video/VmY_DobX-Ig/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the video ! I've been using my Steelseries Nova Pro Wireless now for about 2 years now and they're absolutely fantastic. From the transparency mode which makes using headphones with others in the room a breeze, to the different profiles for just the right game, to the ability of simultaneous bluetooth and 2.4 (spotify from phone while gaming for instance), they are just awesome! Not to mention the easy battery switch with one battery always ready to go. Only thing I'd be able to change is the earcups. Leatherette versions like these tend to get a little warm when wearing for a while. I'd prefer to be able to switch to airweave, but they're not available for the nova pro.
Get some Wicked Cushions, there's hybrid with leatherette on the sides but breathable cloth on the side that touches your head ...it also has options with cool gel on the inside, the memory foam is a bit thicker and firmer, it's the best upgrade for an almost perfect wireless headset.
I just got my maxwells. Please do your research on the sidetone static and crackle/pop. They sound great, crispy clean bass and are built like a tank. They definitely feel like quality headphones but the “sidetone on” will give you a feedback. I’m returning mine.
Don't know if you ever tried the Philips fidelio x2 hr for gaming? They were 300 when they came out. I picked some up for 80. WOW the sound is incredible and takes immersion to a new level
I can see he has a bias for the Nova pro and there’s nothing wrong with preferring them more but Am I tripping or did he make it seem like you can only tune the Audeze using the phone app over Bluetooth and not mention the superior Audeze software for pc tuning?
Friend I need advice because my brain is smoking to find a solution. I have some Steelseries Nova Pro Wireless and its microphone is horrible, and the sidetone is too low to hear my voice (this point is essential to me) But I found that the wave 3 has latency when used for the sidetone in a wireless headset. How can I get this problem solved? Do I have to buy wired headphones with jack? if yes, there are similar to the comfortable structure with separate headband like the steel?.. or there is another type of external microphone that I can use that gives me the opportunity to hear my voice in headphones without latency?
How do these compare to Razer Blackshark v2 Pro? I was thinking of switching my headphones to something better. And are these considered as "audiophile" headphones?
Owned Nova Pro but returned them. Even when using GG Sonar the sound quality is far inferior to Maxwell especially for Music and FPS. Maxwell is amazing for open world games and music and movies and pretty good for FPS especially when you enable Dolby Atmos. However I’ve found Spatial Audio for FPS is best on Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. At the end of the day Maxwell just has the best overall package for daily use
when i bought my steelseries nova pro wireless i was intrigued by the Maxwell, eventually the only downside for me was, i could have bought the nova on amazon at MRSP on amazon (actually i got a 10% discount) but the maxwell werent available in my region, coul only find them on ebay but with a 25% price increase, so that put them out of the competition for me. I eventually had the chance to try the maxwell out a few months later, and out of the box i was really impressed by the quality. All and all i gotta say i wouldnt swap my nova for them though, it is true the nove might not deliver such a good sound as they are but the parametric EQ coming in with sonar is a game changer and offers up so much flexibility and potential which is hard to beat imo. im happy with my choice, the nova are also easier to carry around, as long as you dont throw some WC freeze pad on them you can also used them as a daily driver to bring outta home for music and multimedia contents on the go, and being able to host the mich in their body ready to come out when needed is a plus. They're both great and i think you can hardly miss out with both of them if you aim at sound quality, the nova offers up a much better full package/experience for me personally.
The Maxwell are too heavy & I didn't find them comfortable at all. That was the deal-breaker for me. Great audio, but I'm not a fan of the bass delivery - it lacks punch. The clarity has no equal, however. I prefer the Nova Pro Wireless overall. If a headset is uncomfortable, it's pointless.
I use this headset for rainbow. Six siege on PlayStation five is very good. The Maxwell is the best headset for any PlayStation five games. It’s much better than nova pro nova pro’s garbage.

Totally agree with what you said. I love mine as well.
Whats everyone's take on the weight for those long winter hours of gaming

@@znoozaros I had 6 pairs of them, they keep breaking and eventually audeze offered me a refund instead

Yeah you can nestle the control box out of the way no issues.

Did you post the video on your ASMR channel with the audeze Maxwell unboxing?
Not yet

Thanks for the tip
Do they not reduce insulation from external noise by being open?
@Cri_91 no you could do with being in a quiet environment or at least turn up the volume. The sound is sensational

If i did that wasn't the intention. I showed the software in the review.
Audeze Maxwell's Hammer or Maxwell Smart? :-)
Really, really nice.
Thank you.
Busy afternoon? 😀
@ No, but only just got up at 1pm so playing catch up! 😱
For the late comment, I do apologise.
@cheekster777 ha. Never apologise for watching. I don't expect it. Hope all is well
Great video! can we expect to see a review of the new Astro A50 gen 5's?
Probably not. Logitech doesn't want to send me things for review at the moment sadly.
Great video!
One question, I bought the Nova Pro to use with my Xbox, can I set up SONAR on a laptop and then use it on my console?
I don't know I'm afraid. I don't game on console.

Idk I see a lot of ppl say the build quality is bad on the Maxwell but they all say the sound is good but not for Call of duty footsteps

Maxwell would be
This was exactly what I wanted. I had the steelseries ones and I just wasn't that happy with them. Their price just wasn't worth it
Maxwell mic sounds really good!! tempted to upgrade
I have the Maxwells. The sound so great but they are so heavy and uncomfortable
The Maxwell is truly special
Tried both prefer Maxwells ❤
👍

Novas suck big time. Gaming headsets in general are bad but Audeze is a good audiophile company
Have you used them?
The Audeze Maxwell definitely isn't Audeze's "flagship" lol

Funny cause footsteps should be pretty bad on the maxwell if i understand imagining right. That‘s the weakpoint of maxwell
