@@gabriellavedier9650 i mean, there is *some* resemblance, but i really cant see it at all besides the antenna and the vague shape if the appendix dorsalis and cerci (the three "tails" on silverfish) and a lil bit of the head shape. to me, pheromosa very much resembles a cockroach, specifically an amberwood or german cockroach. pheromosas translucent back highly resembles wings, their head and eye shape, the two claws some of them have, and cockroaches also have cerci themselves. contrary to popular belief, cockroaches are very clean and are condtantly grooming themselves. one of pheromosas pokedex entries say that it refuses to touch anything because it senses the uncleanliness of the world. another pokedex entry says that theyre very common in their world, like cockroaches are here. also many of pheromosas foreign names are derived from cockroach. i dont know much about copepods, but i know a lot about insects and pheromosa is about as cockroach like as a pokemon can get
@@gabriellavedier9650 true, true! although cockroaches aren't /that/ big on their underside, their wings make them look bigger. plus, the brown banded cockroach is pretty fuckin thin. i dont even think pheromosas "torso" area was meant to resemble a bug, it looks more like a bugs segmented body mixed with a dress. i really dont mean to be a know it all but they just resemble a cockroach so much to me. plus i plan to be an entomologist (bug scientist) one day and ive been studying bugs as much as i could fir quite a number of years. im still far from knowing all of what i could know but id say i know a lot more about insects than the average person. but i guess we'd have to ask satoshi ourselves to really know for sure of pheromosas inspiration!
There is a book by Dan Brown, "Deception Point", which takes the point and runs with it. The plot revolves around a meteorite discovered in the Antarctic which has fossilized insects within. It's an ok mystery/thriller. I won't spoil how it ends.
Madison Taylor no more being late... everyone would flip out in either disgust or wonder... no one would pick fights with an 8'02" millipede that can summon earthquakes... yeah, it would be pretty dope.
I'm certain that some of them are more like mediums than actual spirits. This is mostly the case for Alolan Marowak (their camaraderie in overcoming the struggle against Grass-types gave them a sort of sixth sense, therefore letting them use ghostly powers) and Sensu-Style Oricorio (which borrows the power of spirits in battle with its dance). Froslass and Decidueye are a little harder to explain, though...Well, Froslass is a little easier in this case. Recent Dex entries for Glalie and Froslass suggest that they are a boulder or icicle possessed by some sort of spirit. If that "spirit" is Snorunt, then Froslass might be making the most of its spiritual powers - hence, it fully harnesses the Ghost-type. So what makes Decidueye gain the Ghost-type? Well...not much is spoken of on that. But owls are seen in multiple cultures as wielders of shadowy powers, and harbingers of death - just hearing an owl's hoot supposedly signals someone's doom. So perhaps Decidueye is just harnessing similar "deathly powers".
So then why aren't Krabby, Kingler, Corphish, Crawdaunt, Clauncher, Clawitzer, *catches breath* Binacle, Barbaracle, Crabrawler, or Crabominable bug type? All of them are based of crustaceans (though Binacle and Barbaracle are pretty...out there interpretations of a barnacle).
Yeah, part of why I'm annoyed by this is because the Bug/Water type is a really cool combination that we've only really seen used to its potential in generation VII (yes, Surskit is gen III, but it wasn't really...using Bug/Water to its potential). Araquanid and Golisopod are really neat Pokemon, and I feel like Krabby, Clauncher, Kingler, or Clawitzer would appreciate having the second type to help them stand out from the plethora of other mono-water types (though Clauncher and Clawitzer already have a degree of uniqueness).
I've thought about this and I think the type name is supposed to be a pun, things that BUG you, basically a pest type, or an annoyance type. this would make sense with all of the other things that aren't actually bugs; crabs, mold, spiders, etc, those things are annoying, it would also make the type advantage against psychic, because they annoy them and brake their focus and divert mental energy with distractions
I'm sure most people have seen the Swapped Butterfree & Venomoth speculation. Where Butterfree has Venonat features while Venomoth has more similarities to caterpie than venonat.
Raphael Luiz what you just did is explain a theory. That’s not a source, that’s not confirmation, it’s theorizing. Unless Game Freak themselves confirm it, it’s a theory.
I never knew that about Burmy's line. I just thought Mothim being male exclusive was just sort of a counterpart to female-only Vespiquen. Now I can go away and impress everyone with my bagworm trivia... ehm... woohoo?

0:47 for those people wearing headphones, that mosquito sound made me swing my hand to my right of my head to scare it, and realized it was the video, and now I feel very stupid.
Crustaceans are arthropods, just like insects, arachnids, and myriapods. I'd give Nintendo a pass on that, since crustaceans are basically bugs with gills.
shuckle is actually based on an imprisoned god that can only escape when the stars align. you can see this in that one particular strategy you can use to make shuckle commit war crimes. its very complex, and i have no idea how to do it, but its hysterical to watch a shuckle do a ridiculous amount of damage
Uhh.... not anthropods..... insects, arachnids, and crustaceans and myriapods are all part of the phylum Arthropoda, not anthropoda... Arthropoda literally means “those with jointed feet. “anthro” means human so anthropods would be “those with human feet....”
I noticed that he commonly mispronounces certain words. I am sure it was something like that but it really is annoying to me as well. It only take a little time to practice to pronounce properly and there are so many other groups that are much more difficult to pronounce. I am happy someone else caught it too.
I wish this video had an update to include the newer bug Pokemon. I would like to know what bugs Blipbug, Dottler, Snom, and Frosmoth are based on. Also, I think Shuckle might be a parasitic mold inhabiting the shell of a bug, but don’t quote me on that.
Do you not sort comments by "Newest first" often? Recently I posted update comments myself on every type video because I also wanted to see where the newer Pokémon would go; I just finished on Sunday night. None of them has gotten any interaction, however, so they do not appear high under "Top comments" except for me. Feel free to look at those. Note, however, that when I looked at all of them yesterday while I was signed out, they did not appear on the Normal and Electric videos (although I still have them signed in, so they have not been deleted), so you might not be able to see those two either, although the other sixteen ought to be visible without problem.
I normally think of this as the “Invertebrate” Type. If a Pokémon is not specified to a certain type (Crabrawler in both name and design is Fighting incarnate), and is not mammalian to be Normal, it becomes Bug. Pheromosa is not Fighting enough to be pure, so it gains its Bug or more appropriately Invertebrate typing. That’s also how spiders and other arachnids can join the type. And to explain Drapion; though it is an Invertebrate, its brutal nature makes it more specific to be JUST a “bug.” Finally, my explanation works beautifully for Crustle. These crustaceans are still Invertebrates, but Crabominable is also an Invertebrate, yet is definitely Ice with it living at the top of mountains and Fighting due to being based around boxing and finding tricks to fight to the top, so it’s too specified for the generic Bug. Crustle, on the other hand, only has the crust on its shell, so it’s only partially the type. The Bug is the generic bottom part with no traits to pin it down to something else.
14:03 do you mean arthropods??? theres no such thing as an anthropod. edit: also bug is a colloquial term. We say "pill bug" when in reality Armadillidiidae are terrestrial crustaceans, isopods, not insects. But we call it a bug because bug is a very very loose term, if gamefreak wants to refer to all arthropods as bugs i would support that decision.
There's actually a very strict definition of "True Bugs" that is much more inclusive and wouldn't qualify 90% of bug types as even being bugs, so it's not even worth nitpicking.
@@stevevieber5348 That's not how metamorphosis works. The pupa is nothing more than a case that allows the body to make more drastic changes than a simple shed of the skin would allow. Think of it like vomiting up all of your organs in a large package, including your brain, and restructuring yourself within this package. Larval insects retain simple memories from their larval stage once they mature, such as being conditioned to human contact, so they can't be a totally different organism. Some moths actually develop important memories in their larval stage that they will need once they grow up, such as detecting signs of environmental hazards.
Im leaving a comment to send some love. I've been going into work early and i would watch your series explaining each type. And ive been loving it. Thank you! Love from New Zealand! ❤❤❤
Yet in the Pokémon Gold Alpha Demo, Paras apparently had a baby form where it ate it's way out of the mushroom. So it turns out that Paras was the true parasite all along!
Nah, it's a continue fight for survival. The fungus grows to control Paras and kill it, but Paras leaves eggs inside it that are eventually born and eat the fungus, and because they eat it it's spores start growing on top of the baby paras and grow enough to control it, and so the cycle continues.
That is true, but the pill millipedes he compared Venipede and Whirlipede to actually are a different animal that are a type of millipede. They just look and act similar.

I thought Pheromosa was a silverfish, which is definitely an insect.
Also, people *do* call lobstery things "bugs." Just come down South and ask for some mudbugs. 😆
Pheromosa is a cockroach (which are white just after shedding) and/or a copepod.
@@awesomecat42
Have a look at a silverfish. I've kept them as pets and the resemblance is no joke.

Fair point. She just looks so thin. No cockroach would ever have an abdomen like hers. Seems like she could be some mix of both.
I have always called shrimp, lobsters, crabs, etc. "bugs of the sea".
There is a book by Dan Brown, "Deception Point", which takes the point and runs with it. The plot revolves around a meteorite discovered in the Antarctic which has fossilized insects within. It's an ok mystery/thriller. I won't spoil how it ends.

Maybe what type of ghost, lore, what their based on idk ghost and dark are a pain to my brain
sk2bradley Hes doing every type
This guy gets me!
I need this in my life. I love ghost pokemon.
In Japanese, crustaceans like crabs (蟹) and shrimps (蝦) use the 虫 character which means bug which is probably why they refer to them as bugs.
But… but clauncher…
So then why aren't Krabby, Kingler, Corphish, Crawdaunt, Clauncher, Clawitzer, *catches breath* Binacle, Barbaracle, Crabrawler, or Crabominable bug type? All of them are based of crustaceans (though Binacle and Barbaracle are pretty...out there interpretations of a barnacle).
Some of them also really do feel and look like bugs of the ocean's imo.
So I can definitely see why they gave them that typing.
The mono type crustians should have bug type added.

Laura The creator of Pokémon is Satoshi Tajiri, not Masuda.
And yet he made bug one of the worst types
WRONG! Masuda was the director in charge on most of the Pokémon games. Satoshi tajiri was the creator
Laura Masuda did not create pokemon. Satoshi Tajiri did. Thats why Ash is called Satoshi in Japan. to honor the series creator.
Sir Parker to be fair, there was a programming oversight that made bugs WEAK to psychic instead of super effective
Crustaceans are arthropods, just like insects, arachnids, and myriapods. I'd give Nintendo a pass on that, since crustaceans are basically bugs with gills.
Look up Pancrustacea! Insects evolved from crustaceans, in a way insects are higly specialized terrestrial crustaceans!
Pillbugs are isopods that decided to live on land. They even still have gills!
But they're still not bugs, as bugs are a subset of insects. Strictly speaking, bugs are insects with piercing beaks and a specific wing structure.
shuckle is actually based on an imprisoned god that can only escape when the stars align. you can see this in that one particular strategy you can use to make shuckle commit war crimes. its very complex, and i have no idea how to do it, but its hysterical to watch a shuckle do a ridiculous amount of damage
Uhh.... not anthropods..... insects, arachnids, and crustaceans and myriapods are all part of the phylum Arthropoda, not anthropoda... Arthropoda literally means “those with jointed feet. “anthro” means human so anthropods would be “those with human feet....”

Crustaceans are the bugs of the sea. :D
Dragon's Beard Gamer Agreed. It's the only thing that really makes sense.

edit: also bug is a colloquial term. We say "pill bug" when in reality Armadillidiidae are terrestrial crustaceans, isopods, not insects. But we call it a bug because bug is a very very loose term, if gamefreak wants to refer to all arthropods as bugs i would support that decision.
There's actually a very strict definition of "True Bugs" that is much more inclusive and wouldn't qualify 90% of bug types as even being bugs, so it's not even worth nitpicking.

he also said that in real life no caterpillar turn into butterfly... wtf
@@rilluma I think he was joking
@@stevevieber5348 That's not how metamorphosis works. The pupa is nothing more than a case that allows the body to make more drastic changes than a simple shed of the skin would allow. Think of it like vomiting up all of your organs in a large package, including your brain, and restructuring yourself within this package. Larval insects retain simple memories from their larval stage once they mature, such as being conditioned to human contact, so they can't be a totally different organism. Some moths actually develop important memories in their larval stage that they will need once they grow up, such as detecting signs of environmental hazards.
So that explains why Yamna evolves after learning Ancient Power

so are fungi bug type?
I'd have made them plant
Yet in the Pokémon Gold Alpha Demo, Paras apparently had a baby form where it ate it's way out of the mushroom. So it turns out that Paras was the true parasite all along!
Nah, it's a continue fight for survival. The fungus grows to control Paras and kill it, but Paras leaves eggs inside it that are eventually born and eat the fungus, and because they eat it it's spores start growing on top of the baby paras and grow enough to control it, and so the cycle continues.
