Fun fact, Jackolanterns come from a very old Irish tradition, but what the Irish used to make them were giant beets and turnips that were hollowed out to look like lanterns, they even have a story called "Jack of the Lantern" where a guy named Jack made deal with the devil to not be taken into Hell then proceeded to make it so he couldn't get into Heaven and then tried to break into Hell only to be chased out by the Devil then use one of the coal's from Hell as the light for his own makeshift lantern which was made by hollowing out a giant beet or turnip, depends on the sources you use, but when the practice was brought over to the rest of Europe and North America the lack of giant beets and turnips led to the using of gourds as a substitute. So, if you really want to do things the traditional way with Jackolanterns go and buy a sugarbeet and hollow it out into a lantern then put your candle in there. Makes me wonder, would they make variants of Pmpkaboo and Gourgeist that are beets but keep the typing when moving into an Ireland-based region?
That fits well enough. Clean air is a byproduct. Photosynthesis is a major activity that plants do. In a way it is a reverse burning. Plants take in water, carbon dioxide and sunlight. Then they produce sugar and oxygen. The sugar is a source of food and energy. Oxygen is fresh clean air. It is essential to make something burn. A regular fire needs oxygen to burn. That is why using bellows can help a fire burn. They blow in extra oxygen. Humans and animals need oxygen too. They breathe that in. Then they use the oxygen to burn their fuel to help fuel their bodies. Resperation involves some really complicated chemistry, but basically it is like burning. It is as if each animal has a little combustion engine inside. If Leafeon can perform photosynthesis, then it would probably give off fresh oxygen too. I hope I cleared things up.
Just a quick thing to add onto sawsbuck and deerling. In one of the xyz episodes of the anime, they seek out a man who is able to repair wood for pokemon. Being famous for reattacking a swasbuck's antler. So it kinda implies that the antlers themselves are wood. I don't know If this would change their placement or not but just a random thing.
Just so you know you're sort of using the term symbiosis wrong. A symbiosis is a close interaction of two different species regardless of the effects on each. Mutualism is what you confused with symbiotic a couple of times, its where both parties get a positive thing out of the relationship like the clownfish and anemone. Commensalism is where only one creature gets and advantage and the other is neither hurt nor helped, and parasitism is where one benefits at the others expense.
Also, I don't think Rowlett and Turtwig are in a symbiotic relationship with their leaves, because unlike Bulbasaur and Parasect, the leaves are PART of them. That's like saying a mythical griffin is in a relationship with it's eagle wings...
Decidueye is definitely partly based on stilt owls. Extinct, long-legged owls that lived in Hawaii. The fact that they're extinct makes more sense as a reason for ghost type than deciduous trees "die" in winter, because they don't. They go dormant, like hibernation.
Well technically parasitism is a type of symbiosis. There are three types actually, parasitism where one organism benefits at the expenses of the other, commensalism where one organism benefits and the other is not affected either positively or negatively, and mutualism where both organism benefit.
Yesssss. Roserade, Sceptile, Snivy, Decidueye, Turtwig, and Levanny are my favorite pokemon. Grass and Ice are my favorite types but grass takes the cake. 😙 Cant forget Abomosnow.
Cacturne is a cactus AND a scarecrow pokemon. Why? There is no Murkrow in the desert. But it has a reason why is a Scarecrow Cactus. Is the Night Desert Terror, Imagin that your alone in the dark cold night desert and then you find cactus that it looks like a scarecrow, and when you keep walking... Something is following you... I can't. Too creepy.
They're not the only Pokémon that make the desert hazardous. Trapinch are desert ant lions that use pit traps like our favourite Rockets; Krookodile and Flygon have a symbiotic relationship that nets them their prey; Sandile can bite you on the leg if you cross paths with one; and even if you are alone in the desert during the day, there might be the odd Mandibuzz circling in the sky.
An interesting point about Sawsbuck: one of the few episodes I saw in passing of the anime had the Braixen's trainer seek out an old man who fixed a Sawsbuck's antler to fix her Braixen's stick after it got damaged. At least according to the english version of the anime, a Sawsbuck's antlers are at least made of wood, if not outright living trees. Dunno why I felt the need to add this to a three-year-old video, but eh.
"But I'd argue that rather than these guys being vine like snakes... they are snake like vines!" The fact that these Pokemon have Contrary as a hidden ability supports this idea and that similarly goes for the Lurantis line!
03:47 It doesn't just infect ants. Cordyceps can infect a variety of bugs in general. In the case of ants and colony based bugs, the infected seek out the colony to infect the colony. Fungi separated from the lineage animals are descended from after plants split off with animals. The fact that they have chitinous cell walls suggests fungi may be most closely related to arthropods or mollusks. They literally had the guts to say "I know I said I was all for movement but I'm switching teams." Mushrooms are basically just sessile bugs that get nutrients the way plants do.
.....Ok, I noticed your "True Facts" reference, but you kinda misused the quote. Sea anemones don't have butts to have fish in, unlike sea cucumbers which the quote was originally taking about. Don't clown fish just clean the anemone or something?
I actually think that Sawsbuck should have been in the symbiotic category as it has two abilities that hint at a symbiotic relationship with the foliage on it being Chlorophyll and Sap Sipper respectively. Although the connection with Père David deer conflicts with that so it really could be either one.
It's fun to imagine how a real human (with accessories) could achieve most types then. Maybe besides Psychic, Ghost, Dragon, and Fairy, we could have access to 14/18 Types! (Could stretch it to get Psychic or Ghost too. Some people believe in those.)
@@runningoncylinders3829 Some people in the Pokémon world have psychic abilities (to the point of being a Trainer class). 17:57 so I actually have a Pokémon card that says when leafeon is laying in the sun it is using photosynthesis to produce clean air.
@@c.d.dailey8013 That also explains both of Leafeon’s abilities (Leaf Guard and Chlorophyll).

Commensalism is where only one creature gets and advantage and the other is neither hurt nor helped, and parasitism is where one benefits at the others expense.
manta965 i was thinking the same thing haha
Huh, that's weird, in german symbiosis (Symbiose) means an interaction with benefits for both sides
@@SingularityDan weird what is the general term for an interaction. Basically the German translation of the English word symbiosis.
manta965 English comes from German, not the contrary
Also, I don't think Rowlett and Turtwig are in a symbiotic relationship with their leaves, because unlike Bulbasaur and Parasect, the leaves are PART of them. That's like saying a mythical griffin is in a relationship with it's eagle wings...
Decidueye is definitely partly based on stilt owls. Extinct, long-legged owls that lived in Hawaii. The fact that they're extinct makes more sense as a reason for ghost type than deciduous trees "die" in winter, because they don't. They go dormant, like hibernation.
the german Translation is also "Plant"-Type and not "Grass"-Type

Well technically parasitism is a type of symbiosis. There are three types actually, parasitism where one organism benefits at the expenses of the other, commensalism where one organism benefits and the other is not affected either positively or negatively, and mutualism where both organism benefit.
Slowbro and Slowking are examples of mutualism, right? :)
