    You can use many different materials to back your bead weaving. Some popular choices are ultra suede or leather, or a nice sturdy fabric.

    Thank you so much for this demonstration! I want to create a project I saw on a beading supplies catalog, which wraps around the length of a stethoscope. I am guessing to do a wrap around I will have to sew the edges together, and build the flat strip by intercalating the beads on the edges, leaving opposing blank spaces. I love this stuff!! thanks again.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is possible to weave the warp threads into the beads when you use a larger seed bead, so theoretically, if you got the pony beads to work, you could weave the ends in, as long as the beads could accommodate all the cord strands.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bead loom projects usually need a backing. There are too many threads on the ends to neatly weave them into the bead work. However, you could try to experiment and see if you can find a different way to finish it off. In my experience, these pieces look best with a backing.

    • @jessicahughes3118
      @jessicahughes3118 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beadaholique you definitely don’t need a backing and you can weave in the ends of smaller bracelets with no problem.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    For a piece that long, you'll need to roll your warp threads onto one side of the loom as I showed in the beginning of the video. The biggest challenge will be keeping them tangle free while you get them into place. We do not currently have a video showing how to add fringe to loomwork. The closest video we currently have is the How to Make Brick Stitch and Fringe Beaded Earrings. You could give that a watch, the general idea for the fringe portion would be similar.

  • @CRAFTINGAGANDMORE

    Very good demo. Have the incentive to get back to weaving after 10+ years of not doing bead work. Thanks!

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This loom is generally intended for seed beads. I've never tried it with anything larger than an 8/0 seed bead, and as we don't carry pony beads, I can't try it to see if it would work. My thought is that the threads would be much too small to hold the larger beads in place properly. Thicker cord wouldn't fit into the ridges in the loom.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't have the loom that you have to look at, so I'm not sure about the holes in the dowels. It's okay if your beads are slightly larger than your warp threads, but if they're a lot larger then yes, you can try stringing every other space.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    This can be tricky, and won't always work for every situation, but I did a project this way, B1044 the Hope Bracelet. • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a little difficult to say exactly. From end to end each warp thread is going to be around 11 inches, so for 3 warp threads that'll be around 33 inches. How much thread you'll need for the weft threads will vary depending on how many inches you bead. When we sell loom bracelet kits we usually include a 64 yard bobbin of nymo thread like this, and it's enough to make several bracelets in a wide variety of styles beadaholique.com/products/nymo-nylon-beading-thread-size-d-for-delica-beads-white-64yd-58-meters

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      max17937 The reason you should back it is because you have all of your warp threads that will be sticking out of each end. The ends will be very bulky if you try to weave in all of the threads. So we recommend you back it. If you don't want a backing I recommend Rick's Beading Loom and we have a full video telling you all about this type of loom and why it is different. For the metal loom how do you tie it off when ur doing the faster version of the weave

    • @beadaholique

      Benjamin Taverner With this particular loom, you will need to back the piece. If you are looking for a faster method of ending your work, I recommend the Rick's Beading Loom. We have a video to show you how to use this loom. www.beadaholique.com/t-video-How-To-Use-The-Ricks-Beading-Loom.aspx Another video that might be helpful is How to Finish and Back Bead Loom Weaving. www.beadaholique.com/t-video-How-To-Finish-And-Back-Bead-Loom-Weaving.aspx

    Could you use black thread next time. It's hard to see white thread. Thank you

      Great suggestion! If it's a straight demo, we try to make sure to use contrasting thread. If we are working on a finished jewelry design, that is when we usually choose the thread that we would want in the actual design but we can try to make sure to use a contrasting beading mat or something that will help show the thread better.

    All the beads I have bought are not symmetrical. Are there beads that are symmetrical in size and shape?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +max17937 Yes! What you want are Miyuki Delicas. They're precisely machined seed beads that weave flush up against each other. Take a look at them in the 11/0 size, that's our most popular size and it's a great place to start with bead weaving on a loom www.beadaholique.com/c-60541-delica-beads-size-11-0.aspx

    how do I know what thread to buy? I have some Supplemax 0.25mm and it seems hard to work with. Is that a good size for 10 or 11 size seed beads?

      That seems a bit thick. I really like using Nymo thread for loom work. Here is a link: www.beadaholique.com/c-60433-nymo-beading-thread.aspx Size D is a good choice.

    What kind of thread do you use for beading??

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Broncos Fan For a bead loom, you can use whatever type of thread you want. Our designers tend to use Nymo because of it's strength combined with flexibility. For beadweaving, we like to use Wildfire or Fireline. I hope this helps!

    So, to follow a pattern you work one strip or row at a time, but do you work from bottom right corner of the pattern, like I do when I'm knitting a fair isle pattern? Also, if one bead falls out, instead of undoing the whole row, can I just re-thread through the beads a second time? John 3:16-21; Romans 10: 9-13

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on where you feel the most comfortable starting. You can start at either end, but you can also start in the middle of the pattern if you are unsure if you want to make your project longer or shorter. Our designer Kat goes into more detail about this subject in the following video:
      th-cam.com/video/g42imsTu624/w-d-xo.html
      We also have a video on how to repair a dropped bead, available here:

    after cutting the threads at the end of the project, and gluing them on the back of the work, how do you prevent that from looking bulky or lumpy?
    Can you just put glue on the thread ends, let it dry, then cut threads? Put a clasp on?

    not true u can weave them back threw makeing the bracelet or wutever it is ur makeing and thaat dosent mean u need to use pony beads lots of people make bracelets and weave back threw and do not need to glue it or attach it to something, u can use delica beads or dyna myte beads they work good u can use nymo thread or wildfire or fireline which are really good
