    I’ve been looking at videos & reading reviews of all the different looms available, at the beginning I was really leaning towards one of these as they seem very popular and I love the idea of not having to finish off heaps of threads, but one thing has totally put me off investing in one, and they are much more costly than a lot of looms available - why on earth would they not at least put serrations into the little bars to keep the threads separated ? I honestly don’t understand why it seems every single loom has the built in separators but this one has decided to make keeping them separate a torment on people and I can imagine the amount of people getting crossed over threads and/or loosing tension. 🙈 I think I’ll spend my money on a cheaper loom and spend the surplus $$ on beads ! Still a great tutorial as always girls 👍

    In the instruction booklet that comes with the loom, it does address that issue. It says "...Simply make the project in sections and stitch the sections together using the square stitch technique, making sure your pattern matches at the stitch point." Square stitch should work fine for this, it would be a nice neat join.

    I made my own loom about 4 years ago. But I can see how this one is totally superior! it takes me a few hours to tie off all my ends and sew them back through my work so I don't have to have a backing on my bracelets. Even when I do back my bracelets, it takes a lot more time than just having two warp ends instead of the 40+ (between two ends) and wastes a whole lot less thread. the only question I would have is how to round off the ends. (decrease the warp at each end to round off the ends.

  • @neesiedavis4062
    @neesiedavis4062 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I think you should put in the warp separator before you space the warp threads close together. It makes it easier to put the separator in when the warp threads are far apart.

      I tried the silicone ring adjusters but that was a big flop. I'm going to try tiny jump rings to keep my loops from running together and the ring adjuster cut just long enough to keep my project from shifting on the top bar.

  • @lauradrew6481
    @lauradrew6481 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    this loom is fantastic at saving time as you only have the two warp and weft threads to weave in, instead of...up to hundreds! the main downsides are you have to know exactly how long your piece is going to be before you start, and there is only a few inches width to use (so bracelets only, no bead tapestries/ purses etc.). if you want to taper the ends you have to do it afterwards, off the loom, which is a bit of a pain.i wouldn't recommend it as someones only loom,but for bracelets its great.

    I have a question about any beading loom. I want to make a headband, but I want to use power cord elastic or some kind of beading elastic. Should I use the elastic for warp and weft threads?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never used elastic with a beading loom. I don't think it would work very well, because you would have to pull it very tight to work with it, and then it would bunch when you removed it from the loom. I would recommend using regular beading thread for the beaded piece, and then adding in a short piece of elastic at the back to make it stretchy.

    • @PACERGIRL68
      @PACERGIRL68 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @PACERGIRL68
      @PACERGIRL68 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to experiment, because that is the only way you will learn. Don't pull the warp tight. Just warp the loom like you are using regular thread and don't pull it tight. I would use 4 lb monofilment if you want to try the wood beads again because it will not get snagged. If you ever do use Nymo again, don't use it for the warp just the weft and use the monofilment for the weft so it does not stretch out of shape. Good luck and have fun with it. I have all kinds of "ideas" that did not turn out the way I saw them in my mind. Have fun !!

      You would usually determine how long you want your finished piece to be and then adjust a pattern to fit that length, not the other way around. But if you do want to figure it out that way, you'll need to do a test piece to see how many rows fit in 1 inch of weaving. Then divide 100 by that number and it will give you the finished length in inches.

    Delica beads suck. They look like a plastic tube thats been cut. Real sead beads are rounded and look WAY better than Delica beads which are flat.

      Lol. They ARE basically cut from a tube. Both delicas and rounds are seed beads. They're just two different styles. Delicas give a more refined detailed look where as rounds can look cheap or elementary
