I am just starting out, and want to use stretch string. But still looking for a video on how to the attach the ends together to make one loop, almose seamless.
I really like the way that looks. It's also great for someone who can't wear metal due to allergies. Also, can the beaded part be attached directly to the leather strip? Basically using leather to back the entire piece of beadwork?
You could attach the leather portion to the beads. We have a video showing you how to attach bead work to backing: www.beadaholique.com/how-to-finish-and-back-bead-loom-weaving.html
Yes, you can loom with pearls. You will just want to make sure that their holes are large enough for your needle and thread to pass through them twice.
For longer projects, we recommend using the Rick's Beading loom and joining two loom segments together. You can find more details in the following link: beadaholique.com/products/how-to-attach-loom-pieces-for-longer-projects

Hi Bette, we have a lot of videos that can help you learn the basics. Take a look at this project page of ours on how to make a long beaded lanyard, the technique is very similar to a hatband and the instructions include links to videos that will teach you the basics: beadaholique.com/products/funky-loom-lanyard
Take a look at our loom playlist then, we've got videos using several different kinds of loom, and many using the short jewel loom: th-cam.com/play/PLdGWVJ-tb1bFe9VgdksRZ7H3MzQiffh5g.html

Hi Jeannie, our favorite method for finishing loom pieces is to use slide connectors. If you're subscribed to our channel you've probably seen these a lot recently, if not you can see our video about using them as a finishing technique here: www.beadaholique.com/how-to-finish-off-traditional-loom-work-and-add-a-slider-clasp.html We're doing a lot of loom work these days and if we discover any other finishing techniques for loom pieces you can be sure we'll do a video on it.
Beadaholique Where is the slider clasp video on TH-cam? I watched the link you provided that directed us to your website, but I'd like to save it on TH-cam so I can reference it later. I found a similar video that is 45 minutes long (which includes the finishing method portion) but it's a looming start to finish video. I'm looking for just the finishing portion of the video (like the link you provided) on TH-cam.
Beadwork is a really flexible form of crafting, I don't know that one length is any better than another. The loom you use will determine how easy it is to make longer projects however. The Jewel Loom we feature in this video has a working area of around 10 inches, which is large enough to bead many common bracelet sizes. However to make longer projects such as hatbands, belts and guitar straps we recommend a different style of loom that's sized a little longer and which ends its pieces with single threads. Those longer, clean finishing strips of beadwork are easier to join together seamlessly, here's a look at how to make them using the Ricks Loom: th-cam.com/video/0IwYbv7bjz4/w-d-xo.html
This is so wonderful. I have never seen this done before and it makes so much sense. My work is nice and right through the whole project and then you take them off the loom and the ends are floppy. This looks very neat and strong. Thank you. I am now a subscriber. Sounds like a silly question but can I use real leather for the processing with the glues that you use?
Absolutely. The glue is going to sink into the felt, so depending on the quality and thickness of the fabric it's possible you could see some slight darkening, but don't let that stop you. I think there's lots of room for experimenting with this technique, the fake leather just happens to be what we had on hand.
I worry super glue might be too thin and watery to create a strong hold. We use E6000 for this technique because its thick consistency fills in the gaps between the circular beads and the faux leather, creating a firm surface for the leather to adhere to.
May have been already asked, but where in uk can i but the leather bits ie the squares and the thin strips please, have been looking for hours yet no luck, are they called something else, Thanks in advance Jill
The squares I believe we cut from the strips. I'm not sure what craft and fabric stores in the UK might call these but we see a lot of names and phrases for imitation leather on the market; faux, mock, synthetic, cruelty free. We still sell the strips in our store in a couple of colors: beadaholique.com/products/create-recklessly-symphony-faux-leather-10-x-2-inch-strip-1-piece-fudge-brown beadaholique.com/products/create-recklessly-symphony-faux-leather-10-x-2-inch-strip-1-piece-black
HI JULIE... IS THERE ANY WAY TO SHORTEN A PIECE OF LOOMED BEADWORK WITHOUT RUINING IT? IT'S TOO LONG FOR WHAT I WANT TO DO WITH IT... MAKING A HAT BAND FROM AN OLD BELT. THE BEADWORK PATCH MEASURES 26, AND THE HAT BAND IS 23." I HAVE TO CUT IT DOWN. THANKS
Hi Brett, This is a good question, we haven't done anything like this ourselves but I'm gonna try to answer it as best I can. It should be possible to cut a finished loom piece and still salvage some of it. The tricky part here is how much you'll be able to salvage. I can't really recommend attempting to make a 26 inch piece into a 23 inch piece, because I could easily see you loosing a few inches on either side and not having quite enough to work with. If you're determined to give it a shot I'd suggest finding or making a smaller piece, say 7 or 8 inches long, that you wouldn't mind messing up, and practice cutting and re-finishing that. The whole thing won't fall apart like a house of cards if you cut it, but it will start to want to unravel immediately, and the threads may be under a bit of tension so that unraveling could happen quickly. You also might see a bit of wrinkling in the piece once you cut into it and free that tension. You'd want to have the piece lying flat as you cut it, and to secure it somehow with a bit of weight so that the weft thread that's cut can't wiggle loose and start unraveling from the warp threads that form the length of the piece. You'll also have to consider carefully how you want to finish the piece. This video has a technique that I think would be a nice finish for a hat band, but you might have to remove a few extra rows of beads in order to make it work, or live with gluing the leather over the beadwork and having it be a little bulkier.
I love this.....loom work ....I used the bigger beads , my eyes are no good....I want to use seed beads....what size thread? What size needle...to use...I mean
Another way to finish off this style of beaded loom work is using Beadalon Slide Connectors, with Extension Clasps. Here is a tutorial: th-cam.com/video/q1wE0padwNw/w-d-xo.html
Hi. I am working on my first loom project. I’m using faux leather cording and just doing a single row of beads. How can I complete this bracelet? Would you tie the ends in a knot ? Or add a clap of some kind.
Hi Denise, if I'm picturing your project right that sounds pretty similar to what we'd call a wrap bracelet. We like finishing those by threading a button onto one end of the leather cord and then tying a few knots into the cord at the other end in order to make a loop to hold the button. If you've already got your looming done this technique might not work for your unfinished piece, but take a look at how we do it in this video, you may be able to adapt the technique: th-cam.com/video/o9NpitdwpC8/w-d-xo.html
Our favorite thread for these is this size D Nymo: beadaholique.com/collections/nymo/products/nymo-nylon-beading-thread-size-d-for-delica-beads-white-64yd-58-meters
Adding something to loom work is difficult so my recommendation would be to create two separate pieces and attach them to either side of the watch face. Here is a similar example: www.beadaholique.com/stella-watch.html
I liked the tutorial very much. Was reading the comments and was wondering do you find using Nymo D thread gives you the best looming thread consistency? I've used others but have only free hand woven with Nymo thread and not one so heavy.
We do like using the Nymo size D. If you prefer something lighter you can use a size B. Nymo size D offers us many colors so we can match the beads better than a simple crystal or smoke in perhaps a fireline, which we use for most of our off loom weaving.
question, shown how to wave the thread at the end of you project. but I'm having a hard time in the begining of my project, try to wave the thread but it come all wrong. now my question is, do I start beading first and then do the waving with the thread and then go back beading again?
We use NYMO thread in size D for these bracelets. You can see all the colors we carry here: beadaholique.com/search?type=product&q=NYMO&_=pf&pf_t_size=0-Size%3ASize%20D&pf_t_size=0-Size%3AD

Does the ultra suede have to be used if you want to add leather to it or can a clasp be used?
@@beadaholique thanks ! That’s perfect !
@@TheDuckylove1 Glad I could help!
What size thread do you use for the loom ?
Our favorite thread for these is this size D Nymo: beadaholique.com/collections/nymo/products/nymo-nylon-beading-thread-size-d-for-delica-beads-white-64yd-58-meters
I would like to ask if it is possible to center a square watch in the center of the bracelet
Adding something to loom work is difficult so my recommendation would be to create two separate pieces and attach them to either side of the watch face. Here is a similar example: www.beadaholique.com/stella-watch.html
What other glue besides super new glue can you use that is way too expensive
You should be able to use E6000 glue, just test it out first to make sure it doesn't bleed through the faux leather and use it sparingly.
Thank you
How to get this loom. I need one. I am from India

Great Video!! Thanks
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
Hi .. i just wanna to ask you ... What kind of thread is used ????
We use NYMO thread in size D for these bracelets. You can see all the colors we carry here: beadaholique.com/search?type=product&q=NYMO&_=pf&pf_t_size=0-Size%3ASize%20D&pf_t_size=0-Size%3AD

Hello! We sell lots of glues on our website: beadaholique.com/collections/adhesives
Threaded rod or fine thread bolt...probably about 4" long epoxied to a wood frame with a screw on each end will make a loom.
The only thread I have is the Supplemax illusion cord- 0.30mm, can I use it to weave?
We are not familiar with that type of thread. It sounds like it may be too thick. We use Nymo thread size "D" which is quite thin, 0.14mm.
what kind/sz needle are you using in the vid....
We are using the Tulip Loom Work needles: beadaholique.com/products/tulip-loom-work-beading-needles-90x0-5mm-3-pack

Hi Mariela, glad you like this piece. We call it the Lakeside Dock Loom Bracelet. We're got a tutorial listing all the materials you need to make it here: www.beadaholique.com/lakeside-dock-loom-bracelet.html
so what if you don't have the leather or the tube clasp thing
I will braid my left over ends an put pony beads on them.
I have also used embroidery floss on my loom the different colors actually ad a different type of dynamic to my piece. Then I braid the ends and put knots in the them.

Why do you leave the metal thing in the loom. ?
I was wondering the same thing. The creator of the loom always removes the bar after putting on the warp threads. :)
