    I wanted to add, this is the 3rd loom I've bought in several weeks. It's the least expensive AND the easiest to set up. Friends, pls don't think that because it looks simple that it is no good. It's great.

    Hi there! Thank you for this wonderful video. Just a tip. According to the designer of the Jewel Loom, you are supposed to remove the rod after you string the warps, before you begin weaving. That increases the tension and keeps the threads tight.

      @@crystalsaphrias Yes, really. The instructions it comes with even say to remove the metal bar before starting to bead. Makes the thread super tight.

    You definitely explain this much much better than the original creator of the loom..you show each step (even something as simple as threading your needle) and you do it at a NORMAL pace. You also string it much easier thanks so much!

    This video saved my sanity! Working with two hole tile beads and removing the rod, consistently caused my bracelet to buckle when removed from the loom. By leaving the rod in, the tension was perfect and the bracelet lay smoothly when removed.

      I wondered about that. I watched a bunch of videos from beadalon about this jewel loom and they leave the metal rod in. The instruction book that came with my loom has different instructions about how to set up the warp threads and it also says to remove that metal rod once the threads are in place and tied off.
      I've followed the instructions in this video. What I've noticed is after around two years the center of the loom is starting to weaken and at some point it's just going to snap. You can actually see fractures in the plastic of that center curve. When it finally gives out, I think I'm going to try the metal and wood combination loom. As nice and convenient as this loom is, I want something longer lasting that I only have to buy once.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stephanie Miller If the seed beads themselves are uneven, then the edge will be too unfortunately. I recently saw a cool bracelet design with chain stitched to the edge, you could try something like this and that might hide the unevenness. If you are looking for a good quality even seed bead for looming, I would recommend Toho seed beads.

    @Smartfastgurl101 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just started this project and your video was very helpful. but there is one thing I don't understand. Why don't you go back through the previous row to connect your rows together? One side of my project is together because that is the side the needle come in and out of, but the other side can be pulled apart. Am I supposed to weave the project together at the end of the project?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see what you mean. You do not have to go through the other side to "tie it up". Whichever clasp you use should hold it together. For example see our Loom Kits and the clasp used there as well. We have a full video showing you how to finish it off and the rows sit snuggly so that this should not be problematic. • @dianepeter3625
    @dianepeter3625 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've heard that these can break after 1 to 4 uses, is that still an issue or has that been fixed so that you don't need a new one all the time. I think that would get annoying fast. I want a loom I can use for several years at least before replacing.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We still have a jewel loom from around this time in our studio space, actually it might be the same loom. Over the years we've sold a ton of these, and there have been some bad batches which we're always happy to replace, but from what we've seen they can and usually do last for years. If you want to be extra cautious do what we tend to do and leave in the bar, it's quite possible to get good tension without it and it makes a good handle.

    I thought you were supposed to remove the metal rod before starting to bead to make the tension just right???? (According to the designer of the loom) You don't do that on this one?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do not remove the metal rod with this beading loom. The tension will hold because you have anchored your threads to the back of the loom. You only need to remove the metal rod when you are storing this loom.

    • @beanjean60
      @beanjean60 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Beadaholique I went back and looked at Julianna Hudgins (?) youtube video. She's the designer of the loom, and she definitely recommends that the rod be removed once you have your warp threads. It adds just a little more tension to the threads. I prefer your video for the rest of the how to, but I do think removing the rod works better for the right tension. Each to his own opinion! :-)

      It's possible for them to crack with age but with good care they should last for years like any high quality plastic tool. If you purchased the jewel loom from us at Beadaholique just recently and had it crack contact us at service@beadaholique.com and we'll see if we can help

      There are two version of the loom on the market now. The kit version which you see in the video includes the plastic carrying pouch and a needle and thread. There's also a less expensive version which only includes the loom. It sounds like you may have bought the less expensive version.
      If you bought your loom from us at Beadaholique though and you didn't received the plastic carrying pouch please let our customer service team know. We only sell the kit version so you should have received the pouch with it. Our customer service team can be reached via email at: service@beadaholique.com

      I'm not sure where you can buy one in New York. Many craft stores and bead stores carry them if you're looking to support your local businesses. If you don't have any craft stores near you then you can always buy one online from us: beadaholique.com/products/beadalon-jewel-loom-kit-weave-necklaces-bracelets-and-more

    U forgot to remove the metal rod to it tightens the worp threads. I know this because I watch a different video with the person who designed this loom. Not only that there is a secondary securing method which I didn’t do and now I will have to be really care full removing my project.

    Has anyone used elastic cord on the loom to make a bracelet?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not used elastic cord on a loom before. It's an interesting idea I think you would just need to be really careful that the elastic was at a relaxed state when you do your warp threads. If it's at all being pulled, your piece will not look right when you take it off the loom (will probably look great while you are making it).

    • @glacialimpala
      @glacialimpala ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beadaholique I made it work by making the threads not as tight and starting the project closer to the middle so the threads have the room to come closer together, if you know what I mean 😄 But it sure would be nicer to have a loom that is dedicated to even smaller beads! Thank you for reading my comment 🥰

  • @DeeLightfulCo
    @DeeLightfulCo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    you need to remove the rod once you have strung to put the tension on the threads. The creator of the loom has a video here: th-cam.com/video/Hs3JLbrNbXE/w-d-xo.html

      @rejgin588 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +DeeLightful Co Personally, I've tried both ways, and definitely keeping the rod on. The wires loosen up and one of them even went over one groove at one point. Believe me it's not funny having to start all over again and waste thread.
