@@HipsterTactical mines 98. But what I’m finding “production date and actual manufacturing can be different. For example had a 5946 made 2016 smith told me Nypd contract surplus they had set aside . Here’s the thing the little envelope with the empty casing was marked a date in 2014 . So made 2014 but the factory didn’t release it to 2016 because the Nypd didn’t end up using it and smith released to the fffls.
@@RichiesHouse Oh nice! I remember when those late-production 5946s showed up on the market. There were some 3914DAOs around that same time. Like you said, made around 2013-2014. I think they were the very last of the 3rd gens. Though there were some melonite 4566TSWs made for the WVSP made around then too... I'm not sure which were actually later. Thanks again for the comments!
I've actually thought about doing something on my P239 in .357 SIG. If fills a unique niche and I love the gun... and the cartridge. Thanks for the idea!
Bwahahahaha - "where can I find a H&K P7...." So good. And I just got back from the range! Now, I'm really motivated to excessively and passionately clean the intimate inner workings of my fine machines' innards.
Just give me all the guns. If it goes bang, I want it. Especially if it looks clean, simple, but still stylish. I modded my P320 EDC, simply for aesthetics, minus the trigger and gas pedal. Those were more for comfort, but doesn’t effect my performance. I also have an Icarus Precision ACE Compact grip module because polymer makes my hands sweat. Being in FL, they sweat enough. And I like the little bit of extra weight. But I stilling loved it before all that. If anything I modded it because I love it and wanted to personalize it a little more. To reference nutnfancy, it’s the second cool factor. I just like it, but it wasn’t needed to be a good firearm. It’s not a crazy gucci gun by any means. It still clean looking, but had a little flair now and I enjoy the fact that I have an all metal P320. I dont like glock, but if there was ever a metal grip with a more 1911 style angle, I’d get one. I dont think Glocks as a platform suck, but I think the angle and polymer suck. I get it saves weight, but I grew up shooting all metal guns and it’s what I prefer. A few extra ounces isnt much to me given what I carry anyway. Usually that stuff, 3 extra mags on my body and a 15 lb backpack. And I walk 5 miles to work every day. Weight doesn’t bother me. Especially as an ex Scout who’s used to hauling heavy loads on miles long hikes in all kinds of weather conditions. It’s really just what I’m used to. Plus, I do like the weight because I’m used to how it feels and I KNOW it’s still there. Like if I were carrying a LCP, that thing is so light to me, I could drop it 3 miles back and not notice. I KNOW when my Sig is and isn’t on me because the weight distribution is way off and unbalanced. Everything I carry has a spot. Even in my backpack. Just by putting it on, IK if i have everything or not. Or if I have too much. Ik my EDC very well, especially by feel. P320 right side apendix, 2 18 round and one 13 round mag in my left pocket (.40 S&W), pocket knife, and headphones in my right pocket, typically Cold Steel Drop forged Survivalist on my right hip, phone back left pocket, wallet back right. Backpack has my chargers, work apron, a change of clothes for after my walk, Bose Bluetooth speaker, a back up pocket knife, multi tool, back up S&W 7 fixed blade with serrations, a toothbrush for cleaning dust and lint out of small ports on my electronics, field sharpener, IFAK, Ipod, a bottle of water, a bottle of Gatorade Zero, a light snack, lighter, flashlight, an extra charging block, an extra pair of wired headphones (IEM’s), a 2 way radio that I have connected to NORAD, so I can get whether updates on my walk (I get no cellular service out here unless I’m connected to Wi-Fi), a few pens, a marker, note pad/notebook, some para cord (around 15 ft), and sometimes I’ll carry an extra pair of shoes and socks tied up in double layered plastic bags depending on the weather. Sounds kinda crazy, but I’m in the middle of nowhere and I have to worry about large animals and other hazards. Again, being in Scouts I got used to having everything I may need at some point on me at all times. I feel naked without it all. And again I have a 5-5 1/2 mile walk each morning (my wife works the next town over and it’s a 30 min drive she has to be up at 4 AM for. So I hoof it and save money on a second car payment and still get my exercise in then work a 9hr shift. A lot of people think I’m crazy for carrying all of that over such a long distance in 90+ degree weather with high humidity. I do just fine. Does all of that make me a tactical hipster? I mean I wear flannels, a beanie, slip on vans w/o socks, or sandals if I’m not wearing work boots. All jokes aside and sorry for the novel, but my point in, I do things differently and out of the norm. I just like being prepared for whatever inconvenience is thrown at me given where I live, and my daily routine. I’m in the middle of nowhere with no way to contact anyone if something happens. I need to be ready to take care of myself in a moments notice. Between the borderline hear stroke, the 2 massive and mean dogs 3 miles up the road that always try to chase and eat me, sometimes jumping over their fence…leaving me to walk backwards while they bare their teeth at me growling and my gun pointed at them, the the occasional bear encounter. Sometimes the cars that almost hit and kill me and the lone meth head who’s always tripping and being weird, I got a lot on my plate before I even get to work lmao
I think you win the award for the longest, most detail post on my channel. Thank you, buddy! And double thank you for embracing your hipster-ness in all aspects of life. I mean, we live the lives we want to live... we do our own things, our own way... we carry the guns we want to carry. That's the American way, brother! Props and mad respect for walking 5 miles to work every day. I'm sure it keeps you in shape. I'll say that mean, aggressive dogs are one damn-good reason to carry a gun. Well, aggressive dogs and meth heads. Anyway... thank you so much for the insightful comment. Good luck, do you, and be safe!
I was issued my P239 in 2012 when I promoted to CID in my old agency. It's chambered in .357 Sig and I got a rare 8 round mag for it. I still carry it every single day, despite it being a complete tank of a pistol, but it tames the hottest .357 Sig rounds out there... just a beast of a weapon with miles of character and soul, which simply cannot be found in *any* pistol with a Tupperware frame, including even the stupidly overpriced, overrated 2011's coming out of Florence, Texas. And yes, I am one of those who will debate and rant about Sig extractor differences...the older stubby 'Legacy' extractor is far more preferable to me, functionally and aesthetically, than the newer, silly surfboard style. So there.
Haha. I shot my P239 in .357 recently… so accurate, so solid, so sexy. The thing just thunders with hot SD loads. It’s a rush. And yeah-I think they designed the “surfboard” extractors to work better as a MIM part. Though they did (and do) make MIM versions of the short extractors. So… I dunno. But… appreciate the comment! Thanks and carry on!
@@HipsterTactical I had by chance a long conversation with a Sig armorer who'd spent a considerable amount of time in the mothership. I asked 'Why the change?' because as the misanthropic iconoclast I am, I hate change. He stated that the machine that milled the stainless slide with the short extractor was getting a bit old, and Sig evaluated the costs of buying a replacement machine. The old machine reportedly had to drill three times at three angles to complete that slide, but if a new machine were going to be bought as a replacement anyway, a longer extractor system would require only two drillings at two angles, thus manufacturing the slide could be done faster and simpler, thus more cost effective. He did stated that neither style categorically proved to be demonstrably better in terms of reliability, but it is interesting to note that the still-manufactured P226 Mk 25 continues to use the short extractor; maybe due to contractual obligation, or maybe the SEALS know something they're not saying. Also, I noted many of the recently manufactured P220 based .45 ACP pistols used the short extractor til the very end of production. Either way, the surfboard style does work, I have an M11/A1 that I've run hard and it works fine, but I can't get over how goofy and obvious it is. I'm old and a stick in the mud... don't like it. It's not as blasphemous as the ugly lock hole in the side of 'modern' S&W wheelguns, but I don't like it. Anyway, thanks for the video. Cheers.
@@texas-raider Wow! Thank you so much for sharing that. That’s the kind of insider info I love hearing. Yeah-it’s interesting some Sigs continue to use the short extractor; though I guess only the lower-volume models. And “less machining” being the impetus for the change makes sense… because I know both short and long extractors ended up being MIM… so, I suppose that means the MIM shift wasn’t the reason for the change. Anyway… cool stuff. I may reference this tidbit on future content… all due credit of course 😁
Nice! I've never actually shot a CZ-82/83. I hear they're very nice shooters. I have a Makarov... but the CZ82 design seems a little bigger and maybe more comfortable. Though I can't say I dislike the Mak--it's a nice shooting little gun. Thanks for watching!

The cz82 is basically a more modern Makarov. 12 rounds, ambidextrous mag release , the thing with the CZ though, is it buy the surplus mags. Any other re-pop mag works horribly. Cz82 is 9mak and Cz83 is .380 caliber. Thanks!

There is a P88c w too mags and P9s but prices are raising fast on them. So that little rubber piece on p9s wears/tears and what you had problem putting new one in right?
Thanks, Dan! Appreciate the comment as always. You just gotta love the P239--they're heavy, but they still conceal well. And they shoot as accurately as anything. Yeah, the rubber/plastic buffer on the P9S is a pain in the ass. You need three hands and the strength of Zeus of to compress it and capture it. I couldn't do it. And the only armorer who knows these pistols is in South Carolina... and I'm not. I may take it to a local smith to see if they can do it. But... you DEFINITELY need to check on that part if you get an P9S. You'll F up the pistol if you shoot it without a decent buffer installed. But, other than that, the P9S is an incredibly pistol. Beyond accurate and reasonably slender.

Dude... Johndeere1951a for president! Thank you so much for your continued support and all your comments. You're in good company here. We all embrace our mutual gun hipster-ness :) And I think our grandmothers would have gotten along--mine was born in 1912. Be nice. Be courteous. Don't act be a _rick. Pretty easy rules, if you ask me. Thanks again, my friend! Take care.
Lovely.
Thank you!
Glad that I discovered this channel. This is the first time in almost 20 years that I've come across someone who values the Sig Sauer P239 as much as I do! And since--IMHO--your other references also ring true, I believe I am dyed-in-the-wool gun hipster. But perhaps with one caveat: there is no mention of revolvers! Would this make me just a plain old codger instead of a gun hipster?
Also , you are a hipster if you know that it’s possible to have a German 220 with no proof marks because it was assembled in US.
Yes! I had one exactly like that-I’m guessing it was early 2000s.
I do think ars look weird without a carry handle.
Yeah, man! I mean, that's how Eugene Stoner designed it. Thanks so much for watching!
Would love to see you make a video on the 357 sig
@@HipsterTactical You bet. Ciao!
I was laughing out loud at this. Literally 😂
Haha. Awesome. When I watched it, I kinda was too. The cheesy music brings it all together... Thanks for stopping by!
Oh man I may be one. Cz82 fan boy. Own two of them, only handgun I shoot
Nice! I've never actually shot a CZ-82/83. I hear they're very nice shooters. I have a Makarov... but the CZ82 design seems a little bigger and maybe more comfortable. Though I can't say I dislike the Mak--it's a nice shooting little gun. Thanks for watching!
@@HipsterTactical great video! Haha yeah I love the Mak too. It's gorgeous. The cz82 is basically a more modern Makarov. 12 rounds, ambidextrous mag release , the thing with the CZ though, is it buy the surplus mags. Any other re-pop mag works horribly. Cz82 is 9mak and Cz83 is .380 caliber. Thanks!
Amazing video, how about loving and owning way too many old pre lock Smith and Wesson revolvers, does this make me a gun hipster? Maybe not but I hope so.
Haha. Definitely, my friend! And so does that TS2 (aka, EKS) 😁 I love the old-school wheelguns. I had a 66-1 for a minute. Snub. Miss it. Now I’ve got a Colt Trooper .357. My “Hipster Magnum.” Thanks for watching and keeping shooting cool guns!
Is preferring the Ballester-Molina to the Colt 1911 a symptom? Should I be worried?
It's not a symptom... it's a diagnosis. Welcome to the club, buddy! I hear the Argentines made damn-good 1911(ish) pistols back in the day. Carry it, shoot it and... drink kombucha... with pride and dignity, my friend. Thanks for the comment!
I need a Beretta 84BB in my life to balance out my zoomer (P365X) and boomer (S&W 442) handgun collection.
Yes! The Beretta 80 series guns are awesome. I have an 85FS--accurate little bugger. Shoots like a little laser. The 8X Berettas and the Makarov PM are my favorite straight-blowback pistols, by far. You may already know this, but if you get an F/FS 8X Beretta (as opposed to a B/BB) you get the decocker--if that's important to you. Thank you for chiming in!
Let’s not forget brand loyalist
Can't forget the brand loyalists...
Lol, You so funny....Hello, I'm Daniel, and I am a Gun Hipster. I just let a SW99 .40 slip by...I should have got it since p99's are going crazy expensive now. Always looking for that 239 buy...though not sure if I will really carry it more than a couple times because of atrocious weight to capacity ratio.
@@HipsterTactical so...if van get a 239 .40 someday reasonably and since a company still makes a plus 1 base for it that still makes sense (245 damn nice but pricy a w 8 rider in it that height is full size). See all my comments on ur 245 vid
Is there any overlap between the AK community and gun hipsters. Asking for... a friend.
Good question. I feel like the Polish/Beryl AKs qualify as hipster AKs. Probaby Dracos, too... I mean, virtually every rapper since 2016 can't be wrong. I'll even throw Romanian WASRs a bone... but I think we've gotta draw the line on the Century-made stuff... especially with cast trunnions. Hipsters gotta have standards, bro :) In any case... thanks for the comment, dude!
If my P7 weren’t worth more than my pancreas I would carry it regularly, like my other organs. Now I guess it’s the 92G Elite compact LTT, or P01 in OD green, I guess. My PX4 is going to LTT for a dot and trigger work, sorry for that. I have owned G locks but that’s just like experimenting in college, right?
Hahaha. You’re allowed to put dots on PX4s-that doesn’t violate the gun hipster creed. Plus, that OD green P-01 can forgive just about any gun-related sin. Even those fast and loose Glocks you fooled around with in your 20s.
@@HipsterTactical I hope it works out with the PX4. btw, I owned a P239 many years ago. Got it for a song from a shop going out of business. It was a .40 so it was a bit brutal to shoot. Sold it for a profit. If it were a 9mm it would still be here for the cool factor.
Yeah, if I could only one caliber in the P239... it would definitely be 9mm. But I do like my .357 P239. It has its place--it's a solid, accurate little powerhouse. Thanks again for commenting and watching, my man!
Move the cue card further off camera so you have to look even further to the side
Holy shit.. I'm a gun hipster..😱😱😱 Ar Handguard?? Need my 92FS out when I watch Diehard(Or PX4 if I watch "Live Free or Die Hard)? I like Ruger P Series?!!
You’re among friends, brother. Embrace your hipster ways… I’ll pour out a little kombucha for you next time. Haha.
EDC a 659 and a 59 . Guess I’m hippy .
Hell yeah. Embrace it. I carry a 5906 and a 4506-1 from time to time. Just got a 3914, too. Thanks for watching!

@@RichiesHouse Man, I love the 4506-1. I had a 645... nice gun... but for me, the 4506-1 shoots better. I carry mine in the winter, fairly often. Thanks again!

Does my lust for the hk usp count?
YES, MY BROTHER! Yes it does. In fact--I just bought a USP .45. Granted, I'm not a smooth-talking contract killer with frosted hair and a designer suit... but... if anyone takes my briefcase... I'm prepared :) Thanks for the comment!
I myself pick up a USP 9 , Granted I’m not a stoic , reserved , minimalist high-line crew leader taking scores , but I’m content to subscribing to gun hipster label regardless
Always thought gun-hipsters were the other way around: glock loving, red dot using, AR fanboys. Think you got it mixed up 🤔
Look inward, my friend. Seek the wisdom of the HK P7, the Walther P88, the StG-58 and the T-Series Browning Hi Power... and you too shall embrace the true spirit of the gun hipster.
No, those cats are basic. Glocks are the Applebees of handguns. CZ’s and Hi Powers are a cool artesian burger joint in a former Chinese Opium Den in the warehouse district of your downtown that only 12 people know about.
