seems to be a theme, but also used this at my mother's funeral this past February. My grandmothers name actually was Beulah, that's what sort of led me to even finding this and discovering this beautiful song, and the Peterson's wonderful music and family as well!
I was looking for a rendition of this song to send to a friend. I listened to Jamey Johnson and Shenandoah and they were musically very good. Allison Kraus's voice is always beautiful. But this one ... This one gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. I have no idea why. Maybe it was the pretty gal singing. Maybe it was the lovely harmonies. I think it was because they understand, above the other singers, what they are actually singing about and the Spirit was in it. Thank you.

Hi guys and gals. I am 55 years old now but when I was in the USAF at the dreaded Minot AFB, which I still love, I was volunteered by the hospital commander to sing at an Officers Club function. My commander played his 1950's Gibson and I sang "Annie's Song" By John Denver. I blew the words to the second verse but I decided very quickly to make a comedic effort. When I finished the song we received a standing ovation. I was sent to Wilford Hall in San Antonio TX after my time in Minot. I became very ill and it was determined I had developed asthma and severe allergies. I guess a lot of people do that when they go to Texas for an extended tour. I did some singing when I could but my airways were injured enough to cause difficulty singing. I was discharged after almost 16 years of one form of military service or another. I began my career as an airman Basic and ended it as a captain. While in college studying nursing I was in the US Army Reserves and stationed in UAE during Desert Storm/Shield. Unlike my brothers I never experienced combat but my career did result in physical and emotional injuries, which have ended my ability to function as a nurse. For 5 years (Until Covid 19) I was acquiring and giving stringed instruments to children in my small community. I would teach them what I could and when I didn't know something we learned together. I would also sing and play for them on demand. I am now able to sing again albeit a little differently but with some strength. I also have acquired a small digital recording device, which will allow me to record multiple tracks. My goal for now is to develop a small amount screen presence so I can show the children (After Covid) how easy it is to share themselves safely with the world. You have inspired me to learn some of the Bluegrass techniques you have developed for yourselves. Your Gospel efforts are beautiful and while I cannot go to church due to the use of colognes and perfumes by the rest of the congregation I still celebrate the words in my own way. I have always believed in playing for the self and then to share. This way you learn who your music is for. I thank you for reminding me of a way to learn that is rewarding for myself and those around me.

I was 16, and playing guitar for a nursing home when one of the gentlemen living there asked to play this song with us. Hearing all the members of the nursing home sing along in the chorus is one thing I’ll never forget, nor the work Mr. Bob had put into me and helping me with music. God, I wish I could go back....
*LYRICS - Sweet Beulah Land*
------------
I'm kind of homesick for a country
To which I've never been before
No sad goodbyes will there be spoken
For time won't matter anymore
Beulah Land, I'm longing for you
And someday on thee I'll stand
And there my home shall be eternal
Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land
I'm looking now across that river
To where my faith is gonna end in sight
A few more days I'll wait in labor
And then I'll take my heavenly flight
Beulah Land, I'm longing for you
And someday on thee I'll stand
And there my home shall be eternal
Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land
Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land
