I have actually owned both. The N is just by far a more "Fun" car. The tech is better. The speed is quicker. And obviously, it sounds better. A punk kid smashed it and I couldn't afford to replace it with another N, so I got the WRX. For the money I paid, I got a deal (2K under MSRP). It's a good car. Reliable and it actually corners better than the N, but it just doesn't have the same spirit. I'm sure I'll be happy with it over the life of the car, but I won't forget the fun I had with the Elantra N.
@@ybbyung_barber_boiii3298 Simple, I work at a Subaru dealership, WRX's aren't selling, nobody likes the redesign, I assure you we are literally giving them out like candy because they will just sit at our dealership for months.

@Lawnmower 65 Of course. When you're commuting 70 on Phoenix highways (lots of rocks), you're gonna get scratches on anything. I just had them all touched up. That's just part of living in Phoenix.
This review of the WRX is so real. As a owner of a 22 WRX I share the opinion of the reviewers. I bought my 22 WRX last April and I was and still is impressed with my WRX driving dynamics. It’s a fun car. I don’t mind the black cladding. I predict that this car is going to be a legend in a few years.
I've done over 40k on my Kumho all weather in the EN. Not being glued the to ground make the EN even more fun and PS4S become overkill for street use. Even without the dedicated winter, I'll still pull the worst snow filled hill Ontario has to offer.
I had my first experience with the Elantra N last weekend. It was a 6 speed w/ a piggyback ECU tune and a small exhaust mod. I sat in the passenger seat as we bombed down a twisty road and I got to say.. I absolutely slept on the Elantra N! What a performer.. sounded great, I was laughing like a kid.. I was blown away. I understand the exterior hesitations by some but the interior was also so well put together and polished. Fantastic value proposition
there was one of those Elantra N last Sunday when i was driving back in the canyons, we had a little cat and mouse but i had to push my Cayman a little to catch up. i had to get up close and was like.. what the....an Elantra?!!
@@jmmch3358 it's an S but I was heading in the other direction, there's this park I turn around and go back so that's why I had to push it to catch up with him but when I did, he tried to lose me but couldn't
In a sea of car reviewers, you guys are absolutely among the best. The new face of the ‘24 Elantra N definitely makes me want to wait to buy one. Great work…as usual.
agreed. Before purchasing a Civic Si, I paid attention only to EveryDay Driver and Savagegeese. Best two review channels for the critically thinking enthusiast.
If they had a track did one lap time i would say they wer different but honestly they all sound the same. What reviwers need is more instrumented testing objectivity not i think or i feel or i believe.. other than that i like these two but i feel like the samr info can be had anymore, how did motor trend separate themselves from the rest? Lap times, head to head ignition god i miss those shows!
Disagree. New facelift looks like every other new sedan on the road. New rear is a downgrade too, black is extended on the sides. 22/23 N has a unique aggressive front.
The critics of the old WRX said it was not grown up, too rough, interior was cheap, and geared to more of younger generation. The GT has check all the boxes of the previous past complaints. Now the GT WRX is not as fun because its not a manual. The interior now is great looking, the infotainment is solid, the options of all the driving is great, and the looks are not as flamboyant, but the car is solid. Elantra is good but at the end of the day, its FWD. There are companies like COBB that are all over these new WRX's and can really push the engine on this WRX. To each their own. I did the new WRX. I have a 2011 WRX LTD and will stick with it.
My wife has a 2015 Kia Sorento, fought with Kia about burning oil, after going through there testing for months, they finally replaced the motor. They STINK…
I've been saying for years Kia Hyundai use poor cheap wire harnesses which turn into electrical problems on the vehicles & now fires, I had a 16 Sorento what a nightmare almost everything broke electrical issues up the a** battery continually dying, moon roof wouldn't close just a disaster, they entice with the designs of the car but reliability eventually catches up to you... I remember Hyundai back in the 80s Pony Stellar were also disasters.
@@kuyre2239 Just because you "remember Hyundai back in the 80s" doesn't mean they are the same now as back then. They very much are not the same thing, 40 years is a lot of time for a lot of changes, and a lot of good changes have happened. It's not brand specific, either, every manufacturer has had problems of varying degrees at one point or another
@@kuyre2239 I'm really sick/tired of people living in the past. Did Hyundai have this issue, yes, without a doubt, but every manufacturer learns and evolves ! Get with the times and stop living in the past !
I like how you guys describe the driving experience of the cars you review. You don’t just spew stats, but really make me feel like I’m driving the car. I love the Elantra N. I’ve owned a Stinger but I’m now interested in the N.
This is what we strive for, we hope you come a way with a sense of what the car is like to drive! We’re glad to hear you found us and enjoy our work. Thank you for watching!
As an owner of a WRX GT, I can say this review is spot on. Everything they said about the car, I have said about the car. Since 2002, I’ve owned five WRXs and WRX/STIs. This is the only automatic I’ve had and I like it.
Great review, the only thing not mentionned is that even if the N is more fun in summer.... WRX Is waaay more fun in the winter with one feat of snow... so yes, a very hard choice 😅
Given lighter winters, here in Toronto, EN's easily is a more fun car for the winter, especially with intuitive hand-break and 6MT. A bumper that can easily. bash through snow banks (by plows) also helps.
the subaru wrx is just super interesting because it’s sales are down 40%+ compared to last year’s previous model design. What is worse is that while the Honda Civic Si has a $5k mark up; the Acura Integra A-Spec Manual is selling for $4K under msrp. Honestly the WRX needs to be sold at under msrp too.
There’s a lot of dealers selling the WRX under MSRP as of late to make room for the 23 models. Recently at a local CA Subaru I received an email that they were selling the 22 models for 2k under MSRP. They’re very good capable cars and a huge improvement over the last model
I just drove a base wrx ( the trim I would actually buy) and it was the only one on the lot in base but had several higher trims there. I here you can get good discounts on the Wrx which is a good thing.... I am still leaning WRX but the 24 facelift on N is intriguing I am not a fan of the red trim etc.... to boy racer on the N though
I am still loving my 2020 Veloster N. It has become my commuting entertainment. Almost three years and I still look forward to driving the car each time.
The real magic of the VB WRX doesn't show up until you tune it. I know you can tune any car. But the VB WRX makes huge gains on very mild/safe mods in a way that none of it's competitors do. A VB WRX with $3K in mods will match or outperform any Elantra Ns, Type Rs,etc with equivalent mods. It's the AWD for me.
8:08 - There is a reason many cars, including the Elantra N, don't do that: noise limits. The EN in sport and N mode likely fails a number of states' exhaust noise laws, and in California at least, the testing is supposed to be done in the loudest mode that the car can be in at startup. By putting you back into normal mode, it ensures that the exhaust is not loud enough to fail the noise test.
@@gs98999i looked at a few other states, some are even 85 db! looks like the elantra N is basically illegal in most states. probably the reason why it's being dumped in the used car market on autotrader so hard. too bad! also, I read the 400z had to get a new muffler because it was loud too.
I wanted an elantra N but all dealers around me wanted 10k over msrp. I got a fully loaded 23 wrx limited for 39k. Was left overs at the dealer. Got it 0 down 0% intrest for 72 months. I know the elantra n is more track oriented. Im happy with my wrx thoughm
For MT enthusiasts: I had a 2013 Genesis Coupe and someone at Hyundai thought it was a good idea to combine the clutch slave cylinder & throw-out bearing into a single part. The first one started leaking brake fluid at 45k miles which was bad, but the second one they put in under warranty only lasted 19k miles and failed completely with no warning while I was on a road trip in Oct 2022. It took Hyundai almost 6 months to fix everything (still just under the 10-year warranty thankfully). As soon as I got it back, I traded it in on a 2023 WRX manual, which uses the time-tested separate clutch parts setup. Time will tell, but I love it so far. If Hyundai is using the same part on the Elantra N manuals, I wouldn't buy one.
I have a 2018 Elantra sport manual with 160,000 km's on it. No issues. I am considering trading it in for the wrx, but only because of the awd. Winter with a fwd sucks even with proper winter tires.
I just bought my ‘22 WRX Premium for $31k OTD. That leaves me $5k to spend on upgrades before I get close to the EN out the door price. With that money, I’ve got Ohlins, 4-pot Brembos, 19lb wheels and PS4S tires on the way, and I already have the car on a conservative e30 tune making 330whp/360ft-lbs. The EN does seem good for those that will leave it stock (and those that can deal with the awful ride quality), but for an actual tuner car enthusiast the WRX is the best performance per dollar proposition on the market right now by a long shot.
I test drove both for a whole weekend. Wrx is faster off the line but seems to fall over from 3rd gear.. Elantra N is difficult to launch but far more roll on power. They are very close but for ray to day I’d go Elantra N, it hangs with plenty fast cars roll on where the wrx would get gapped.. wrx launches hard but you will break the car if you do this repeatedly.
@@moneyparharidk about that on the fa engine….but on the ej you may have an argument…either way I’m taking the Subaru over the Hyundai…and deff not in the automatic….but I’m not in the market for a new car…I’m happy with the 3 cars n 2 bikes I already own
Great review as always, and love the roads that you use. But these two cars need a rematch, with manual transmissions. I have a manual '22 wrx premium, and it is a blast on mountain roads. It doesn't need adaptive dampers or all of the other high tech modes, sensors, and other stuff to make it a great car.
As soon as they make the GT available in manual, I’ll be interested. Based on their sales numbers of auto versus manual for the last Gen alone, there’s no way that car should’ve released in CVT only. I’m glad it’s not a trash option and that people preferring a non-manual have a decent offering. I just think it should have a manual as well.
@@r3games1985 if only it were that easy. Last quote I received for a GR Carolla made it almost as expensive as my M3. While I love the Carolla, it’s not worth more than MSRP.

Seriously though, you two have put out another kickass video! Thanks SO much! Cheers!
I bought a Fiesta ST six years inspired significantly by your video of it vs. the Abarth 500. Now you're making me think I want an Elantra N. Damn you (I think)! But seriously, you guys really get to the core of what a car is about and what it's like to live with, and that's what's great about your channel. Please keep up the amazing work!
We're thrilled to know that our work has been helpful in you getting a car you enjoyed (That's what we want for everyone!). Thank you for the compliments on our work, and we appreciate you watching!
@@peterkruse2427 Congrats--the EN should be a more-than-worthy ST successor, and unlike the Civic Type R or GR Corolla, it sounds like it's possible to find one...maybe even for MSRP or less. I really like the front end restyle; I'd be inclined to wait for that but I don't know how far off it is.
I went from a ST with a torsen and all the mountune stuff to a EN. It's faster, but be warned it's much, much larger and it drives like it. I would hang on to that ST. They will never make a 2600 lbs. hot hatch again.
Paul called it out - there is near zero steering feel in the new WRX. I have a 22 WRX and when I go from that to my Evo X, it's so clear that the 22 WRX steering feel.
Love my 6sp Elantra N. Over a year and 27k mikes into owning it and I STILL can’t wait to get in it every day. Never thought I’d be saying that about a Hyundai 😆
The first and possibly one of the only new cars that I'll get. 95% as capable as the CTR but close to 20-27K cheaper in the real world for the average joe. Have fond memories of watching this channel and working as a dishwasher while I was going to college. Fast forward 9 years later and I actually have a vehicle that you guys are comparing. Love the EN and honestly the more I drive the more I think I'm going to keep it till the wheels fall off orrre, until a 2.4 L comes with a higher power band. Edit: the 6 SPD with a few "feeling" mods really transforms the experience.
When the engine failed at 87,000km in my 2016 Kia soul, the staff told me they had 30 engines in the shop the previous year with same problem. Defective premature engine failure. I've also read many reports of people having a new engine put in only to have the same thing happen quickly. Fix your mess Kia!
@@dark6c159 I'm not sure what this comment has to do with anything I've mentioned...all I have to say is every manufacturer has had major recalls in the last 20 years, sometimes catastrophic.
As an older gentleman, the WRX's ability to loaf around is a +. If I drove the Elantra N as a daily, I would be more inclined to rag it out all the time and when I wasn't doing that, I would be thinking about what I could do to soften it up. So adaptive suspension +. Looks are in the eye of the beholder. WRX is, dare I say less boy racer, which suits me better also.
@@HarryTwatter Love some unbiased true info. Was wanting an EN end of last year but all dealerships were charging markups. Bought a Lexus instead and constantly feel like I'm chasing the EN/WRX feel in a lux car with every mod I do. Love hate relationship
I just moved out of NYC to Upstate, NY and immediately bought a WRX. To me, it fits the rugged personality of the region. I would NOT wanna lower it, and I dig the cladding all the more. To each his own.
I sold my Elantra N manual after 9 months. It was fun, handled well and I loved the tech. However, it’s fit and finish was poor. The front wheel hop was horrible. I have not pulled the trigger on a WRX yet, but I eventually plan to. The N is not a good daily. Plus, the clutch and transmission where just too light and not very good IMO. If I got an N again, I would get the DCT. If you turn down the exhaust noise, I actually found the N to be boring. Even though the WRX may not have the same performance feel, it is the better car to own. If you want to have a track car, get the N. If you want a good daily get the WRX.
Great review again guys, glad it was auto vs. auto as well👍 No sense of me talking about the driving dynamics of the EN because you just watched the video, so I'll talk about something that pertains to everyone...gas mileage. During our Chicagoland winter I got 20 mpg but now it's up to 24 and this is pure city mpg. Last fall on my trip to the Tail of the Dragon, doing +5 mph w/ cruize on & ECO mode, I got 38.4-39.8 mpg (using the calculator method, not shown mileage) Keep in mind the elevation changes here, so that's REALLY impressive!
@EverydayDriver thank you and I look forward to getting in the EN everyday and always look back at it when walking away! I get why people don't like it's looks and I'm never offended when comments are made😉
The Elantra N doesn't leave you in N mode when you come back to the car because of the db levels of the exhaust. The default setting has to be under the allowed levels of sound upon start up. This is their way around it.
Yeah that’s why when I got pulled over I turned the car off. The officer was complaining about my “obvious” aftermarket exhaust. I said it’s stock and then he has me start it. It was normal mode and he wondered why it wasn’t loud. Lol
Here's what I think this boils down to. The WRX is an aging rally legend, a quirky and fun rally car that has grown up, gone to university, and wants to settle down, but is still able to have fun along the way. The Elantra N, that is the WRX when it first exploded onto the scene in the 1990s, all look-at-me-I'm-fast.
Honestly these plus the new ctr and gr corolla are all great cars. We are living in a golden age of asian sports cars and every competitor makes a great car. You will be happy with any of them!
Wow... the same is true for CVT's apparently! The best CVT's are the ones that are bad about being CVT's; That DON'T put the engine in the ideal ratio all the time, they fake having gears! Let's be real about why there is CVT in the WRX. Subaru doesn't have the budget to develop a new torque converter auto. They've gone CVT in every other slushbox subie for the past 10 years. Unless they wanted to release the WRX as manual only, they had to take their CVT and make it shift like a DCT or traditional automatic with gears. It's not because CVT's are any better than a traditional auto or a DCT for the application, its simply that Subaru has to work with what they've got. Good job, whoever writes the software that controls the CVT.
I have driven the Elantra N automatic, it's a fun car to drive! I have had around 15 Subarus over my lifetime. My favorites were the 2004 Subaru Forester XT, and the 2004 WRX wagon. None were as much fun as the Elantra N. I used to think I had to have AWD because I live in Ohio. The newer Michelin snow tires convinced me that I don't. I think AWD kills some of the fun in a car. I just drove the GR Corolla, AWD doesn't diminish the fun in that car.
I had an 04 Forester XT also, my friends made fun of me driving a 'mom' mobile station wagon. It felt nimble, peppy and lythe, but lack of sterring wheel controls, terrible MPG's, loudish road noise and turbo lag got old after a while. The new owners seemed happy though
@@asfdafasdfwfrg explain why my VN has 80k miles and has never been to a shop for anything other than tires, alignment , my elan sel has 122k🧐 stop the bs if you take care of it it’ll take care of u.
While I've not driven the N I do own a manual VB and let me say that you have a lot of fun. You don't get the fancy modes etc, but that's because manual it's always in sport and you just choose normal sport or track sport which just defeats the traction control (which does make a noticable difference still). You don't get the pops sure, but it's also a tuner car still and drop a new intake, exhaust, and tune and suddenly it's fighting in a different class entirely. And winning. The wrx stock loses to the next level up, but not by much. Then minor upgrades and you are pushing 340hp.
Best a WRX STI in my 23' Kona N from a dig the other week, it was absolute madness - I won by a few feet if that. Do not sleep on the N series cars by Hyundai, they're a ton of fun
Pls show the footage because I call bs. I had a 22 Veloster N before and currently own a 21' STI. The VN is neck and neck if not marginally quicker off a roll but from a dig it loses to the STI every single time unless it bogs (which happens alot since getting a great launch requires high rpm quick clutch slips/dumps, AKA abuse).
don't sleep on the DCT. There is a built in timer and launch control in the N cars. The community regularly posts 5 second 0-60 pictures. 5 seconds in the STi is with a real nice launch and god 1-2 shift. Also, the Kona and Elantra have a bigger turbo than the vn making more power. They are both faster than the vn.
@@BDA0531your veloster wasn't DCT though? My Kona N is. That's the only reason why I took it. Idk why you're getting so bent I'm not going to go around and tell fake stories lol, believe me or not idgaf
@@AnonAnon-qi4ts There has been people able to achieve sub 5 0-60s on stock STIs but its incredibly hard to replicate. Yeah the EN DCT is quick theres no denying that but youre comparing apples to oranges with the manual. If you wanna throw in the DCT then compare it to the Golf R
43k for that WRX experience seems really steep when good F80 examples are in the 50’s. Imo I were in the market I’d wait and save a bit more for the M3, but that’s just personal preference. The N is really in a class of its own for mid 30’s though.
I think the main thing you missed on the Elantra is people who buy it need to respect the car. If you turn off the stability management/traction control you can get the back end very loose and it will slide around you if you aren't careful or you aren't expecting it. It is a dangerous car to drive if someone drives it hard and they don't know this could happen. I have an Elantra N. The car is a blast! It is way better than I ever could have expected.
Great review, I really enjoy my 23' WRX. My daily roads are very windy and with a lot of change in slope and elevation. Can't complain at all. With the endless supply of aftermarket parts you can essentially make the car whatever you want it to be. I'm not familiar enough with Hyundai's part market. But it seems to be growing as well. Either way can't go wrong, just all depends on what you value in a car. Test drive both for sure.
Another great review as always! Im a huge fan of N performance and also Subaru. I had a 19 Veloster N for 2 years which was fantastic but traded for an M2 comp. But today im in a 22 WRX Limited and its absolutely fantastic and probably my favorite car i’ve owned. But i absolutely in love with the rally vide of this gen with the cladding, and its light video game/rally steering while paired with the handling of the chassis and AWD system. I feel like im in a rally car. Perfect comment about in person looks cause i did not get the styling at all in pics and videos. But fell in love in person. Would like the Recaros but there is no way i can have a drivers car without a manual. I got a Limited to get the better seats over the premium and they feel and look better than premium model. This gen WRX is just freaking awesome
This gen wrx is awesome? 😂 So you had an M2 for less than a year? Must have lost your ass buying that at a high price and then selling it for way less.
Yea man, its a great chassis.just a shame they decided to not offer an STI for it. Definite mistake made too early. But yea About 11 months i had the M2. But i never pay high for a car. If a deal cant be had i just pick a different car. How i ended up in the WRX now instead of type R or GR corolla.
Interesting comparison. Subaru whiffed on the steering feel and the GT has gotten pretty darn expensive. Adding insult, they've abandoned the easy-to-use rotary knobs for the HVAC that I have in both my Forester XT and BRZ. I have to agree with Todd. As much as I'm totally enthralled with the N's performance, I just cannot warm up to the looks. I see there is a refresh coming, but IMO it only made the front end better, while making the rear end much worse. And it still carries the "mark of Zorro" on the doors. Too much going on on the exterior. Good review, as usual. Hope Paul mends up soon.
Kind of where I'm at. I don't mind the mark of Zorro but I like that comparison haha. The design on the side skirts and, to your point, the rear are a rough look though. The red lining is tacky and the paneling in the back makes its butt look turned up and floaty rather than strong and grounded. Wonder what some small tasteful mods would do.
I tried buying a Golf R and all the stealerships were marking them up & forget about trying to buy a GR Corolla or Civic type R but I dropped by my local Hyundai dealer & they had two Elantra N's with the manual transmission & no mark up. I almost bought one until yesterday when I heard a better looking Elantra was coming.
Where do you live? I'm in San Diego and every dealership wanted a 5k mark up or charged none but wanted a 2k unrefundable deposit...(I only found 1 dealership out of 6 that would do this)

Yes. Rather have a 10 year warranty from Hyundai and some dealers extend that warranty compared to a 3-5 year warranty from Subaru and with how many people complain on Subaru pages and forums about dealing with Subaru dealers warranty process Hyundai is less painful to deal with. They will more than likely replace and engine no questions asked over US domestic brands or Subaru.
Id 100% have to go with the WRX, the elantra N may be slightly more fun to drive on DRY pavement. But if you live in a place with dirt roads, bad winters, or both. The AWD capabilities of the WRX will allow it to take you places the elantra simply couldn't follow.

If you live in a snow heavy environment, it would be wiser to get the WRX but with snow tires, the Elantra N works well. If you are strictly looking for fun, hands down...Elantra N wins period. No doubt the Civic Type R is the FWD king but it's at the very minimum $9,000 more expensive excluding the markups. I'm happy with 90% of the Type R at $10K in my wallet.

I went to buy a EN after I sold my VN for the same price as I paid for it the year before and I put 17k on it. I ended up buying a KN after driving them all. I couldn’t be happier.
Great vid ! And I agree with all your points, although as a side note. If your an enthusiast looking to modify your car. The wrx aftermarket support is probably going to be hard to beat. But as a out of the box car .the en is clearly fighting above its weight class. Hopefully Subaru can pull thru with bigger brakes and better rear end for the refresh. As it is I’m enjoying my 2022 wrx!
If you live where there is a ton of snow in the winter like I do, FWD cars are a no go for me. We own an Acura SH-AWD and a Subaru and i will never go back to a non awd car ever again.
I shopped both the Elantra N and the WRX.....as well as the GTI and Civic Si. I ultimately ended up buying the WRX base model for right at $30k. Here's why. The Honda dealer had a $5000 "market adjustment" on the Civic Si that they didn't even have in stock yet. The Hyundai dealer had one $36k Elantra N that was already sold and didn't know when they'd get another one. The VW dealer had no GTIs available, but they did try to sell me a $50+k (with markups) Golf R. Then I went to the Subaru dealership...one of 4 in my area (all had WRXs in stock). I wanted a manual, so the GT was out. I drove a Premium trim and the base. I didn't want a sunroof. I didn't want big screens, and prefer analog gauges. I didn't want any driver nannies. I just wanted a car that felt as close to the sports cars I drove in my youth (RX-7, Corrado, Conquest). The WRX was perfect! The mechanical grip of the car is amazing. The base model is a performance bargain with some paying under $30k for it. For $40k...no...the WRX is not the car to buy....but at $10k less...nothing touches it. Nothing comes close. And AWD is not just for inclimate weather. It's fantastic for getting up steep gravel driveways (such as mine), shooting out into traffic on a busy road when it's raining, and of course, it's a major benefit in the dry too. You can feel it pushing you through a turn.
Thanks for subscribing! We'd had many requests to drive the DCT Elantra N (having driven and compared the stick shift on a few occasions). So when Subaru dropped this top model WRX, only in CVT, it seemed like the right pairing. Glad to have you watching!

Subaru has less to prove. They have people who will only ever buy subarus. Hyundai is slowly gaining that type of fan base, but to most people, they are the alternate from the Toyotas and Hondas they've been buying for the past 20 years.
still insane that subaru doesn't offer the manual in the GT. its like they're actively punishing people who want a manual for no reason. and the CVT isn't even more fuel efficient which is hard to wrap one's head around.

And it will hold a resale value that Hyundai’s and Kia’s can only dream of.
I've done over 40k on my Kumho all weather in the EN. Not being glued the to ground make the EN even more fun and PS4S become overkill for street use. Even without the dedicated winter, I'll still pull the worst snow filled hill Ontario has to offer.

I just got a'22 WRX this weekend and I love it
Eh I hated it. The looks and feel are a bit clunky compared to the N. AWD is literally the only thing I can say I liked

Glad you enjoyed, and we greatly appreciate the compliment. Thank you for watching!
Me too! Just contacted my local Hyundai dealer, told them to reach out to me once they get the 24 Elantra N available. Face-lift was sorely needed imo
My wife picked up a Orange pearl WRX GT, its a fun car. Interior is awesome, drives great!

It's the AWD for me.
umm no it wont
Stock VB on just an e85 tune makes around 340-360WHP.
Elantra fails the exhaust noise test basically in all of North America in N mode. It’s over 95dB.

Good review of both cars. The red scaffolding of the N is easily removed and reinstalled as you like

Wow... the same is true for CVT's apparently!
Exactly. It's still amazingly bizarre that people buy and mod CVT WRXs
Tires are much more important than drive wheels in the snow. Glad to have you with us. Thanks for watching!

Great thing about the EN is a lot of what can be much in regards to the eagerness can be customized.

@@BDA0531 the race was close though I never said I gapped him, I pulled ahead half a car length before I hit the brakes
Dealers are marking the Elantra Ns up by me had to pay 2k over sticker for it, but was worth it
I think the main thing you missed on the Elantra is people who buy it need to respect the car.
Test drive both for sure.
for me deal maker is u don't have to take out 15-16 screws on Subarus to change engine oil and filter.
"styling is only good in person".
Well said. It is a beautiful car in person.
*rally vibe
This gen wrx is awesome? 😂 So you had an M2 for less than a year? Must have lost your ass buying that at a high price and then selling it for way less.
Yea man, its a great chassis.just a shame they decided to not offer an STI for it. Definite mistake made too early. But yea About 11 months i had the M2. But i never pay high for a car. If a deal cant be had i just pick a different car. How i ended up in the WRX now instead of type R or GR corolla.
GLI, Yaris,Si is the answer to your opening question. And your requirements for the competition included a manual and then you review an automatic?
And that’s why there is an Elantra N sitting outside right now! Everything you guys said is true! It’s a budget, front wheel drive M car in my eyes!
Congrats on getting one! You have a great car. Thanks for watching!
@@EverydayDriver And for under MSRP! Markups and ADM’s be damned!!
Not a bmw guy, but that EN has fun factor and sportiness that can only come from passed down inheritance
Great music choices! This was a fun episode.
I just wish the Elantra N made an AWD version. I need an AWD to handle harsh, snowy Canadian winters
We are very interested to see the refreshed styling in person! Thanks for watching!
Where do you live? I'm in San Diego and every dealership wanted a 5k mark up or charged none but wanted a 2k unrefundable deposit...(I only found 1 dealership out of 6 that would do this)
@@EclipseShotz I’m in Vancouver. The manual cars are $40,000 CAD or converted $29,693 USD.
@@Loopsrainforest I’m in Canada also and markups are very rare where I am, except at Kia and Hyundai. The Hyundai dealers alone would make me avoid their cars.
@@gs98999 That's so funny to hear. I cringe at people who say a dealership experience alone makes them avoid a car. I've been to many dealerships, including hyundai and kia's and I've had no issues with any. How much of a snowflake does one need to be to be so severely affected by short infrequent encounters that might not be all perfect?
One unstated advantage that the Elantra N has in this comparo though is the warranty.
"hyundai warranty" changed meaning of warranty.
warranty mean nothing anymore.
@@tocreatee3585 I have a Kia Forte GT and I had to use the bumper-to-bumper warranty a couple of times with no real problems. Did I have to wait a week for parts sometimes? Yes. But a week isn’t that bad. Hyundai/Kia/Genesis are overall turning out great product, recalls notwithstanding.
The AWD capabilities of the WRX will allow it to take you places the elantra simply couldn't follow.
great review as always but no manuals and CVT is a deal breaker for me. With all the rain in Cali, i did however enjoy the scenery
They make both cars in manual.

Not even close. The EN takes the cake in practically every category.
It doesn’t take the cake in the appearance department lol but thank goodness they’re addressing that in 2024.
Editing was so fun on this one!

We're glad to have you watching, Thank you!
Only EverydayDriver can make me watch a video about two cars that I have zero interest in. Good job guys. I’m happy to hear Hyundai has announced plans to update the front end styling on the Elantra, because…😳
Lost interest after I heard there was a CVT in the WRX.
Great review you guys!
I went from a 6 speed 22 WRX to a 23 DCT Elantra N. There is no comparison the Elantra is better in every way
Guys, where was this shot? I recognize the road as the one Jay Leno used to drive his cars on. Thanks for the great video, as always!
I’ve really been looking forward to getting the N-Line but I’ve held off because I think the front end looks bad. Glad to see they’re finally making it look better
Don't get the N-Line. You might as well get the N if you're going to spend the extra money.
N Line and N are not the same.
I was surprised how good the refresh looked on the Elantra
Why not,Nline premium is still a great option as an everyday driver, you get the road assist unlike the N,and not everyone wants the sport fart aggressive sound
@@ikennneto6481 21 N-Line owner here. I feel like I cheated the system somehow by buying it in black(which hides the grill better) and getting it in manual. It still sounds fantastic, but doesn't have the pops/bangs that wake up the neighbors.
Initial reviews are fine, but what about down the road reliability?
Two different styles of vehicles.
AWD vs FWD, non equal comparison.
Personally, I like the looks of the wrx way more than the Elantra, and living in the mountains, I prefer awd. Wrx in premium or limited trim so that I can still get a manual. Interesting review of the SPT vs DCT.
My son just bought a 2023 wrx manual, and even I love my Stinger I would love to trade his car any time he lets me, that six speed tranny is so much fun!😊
Awesome review! Glad you reviewed the GT CVT version!!! The wrx looks really nice and will probably age well 🤷🏼♀️
Everything but the tablet interface. I'm not sure how any car with a huge screen like that will age well.
@@staylor0902 I'm sure in the future, they'll be either an updated screen to swap in, or an aftermarket one.
@@staylor0902 100%... if we look at the last 15-20 years we're *definitely* not moving towards more or larger screens.
Remember in 2008 when you had 15 TVs that were 75" and now you only have one and it's 15"?
Or how phones are (not) getting smaller.
Or how cars have *literally* gotten more and larger screens year-over-year since then?
Meh, it's probably just a fad like the Internet, the cellular telephone, and the car itself. We'll be back to horse and buggy any day now.
Any. Day. Now.
We hope you saw our CTR bs Elantra N film. Thanks for watching this one!
Every time I watch your videos at the end I'm always confused 😂😂😂
As much as I don't like the plastic cladding on the 22'+ WRX I would still pick the WRX over the Elantra N
Dare I say, this is a great comparison of 'Everyday Drivers' that Joe Public can actually afford and enjoy!?
Thank you for watching!
@everydaydriver if the bar is the Hyundai that’s under 30k has a transmission that’s isn’t quite as fast as a PDK?!?! I think Hyundai and all of us can call that a win know? Somewhere Albert is smiling 😊
Albert was amazing ! Let's just hope Hyundai doesn't mess it all up now that he's retired !
As a kid I always told myself I was going to get a WRX as soon as I could afford one. Fast forward to 25 years old, the Elantra N was the clear choice and I’m so happy with it.
Thoughts about Mazda3 Turbo in this comparison? Particularly the sedan, to keep the comparison even.
This is not a fun car.
The stock vb brakes are so bad ugh
There's already a few ECU tune options for the Elantra N....just a stage 1 tune gets you around 320WHP !
Ur insights as always are fantastic gentlemen. Keep up the good work
Glad you enjoy what we do. Thank you!
I’m waiting for 2024 new face-lifted Elantra N! Now what color should I get???😅
I wish you compared the sticks :( but loved the review!
First time here, subscribed straight away.
Thanks for subscribing! We'd had many requests to drive the DCT Elantra N (having driven and compared the stick shift on a few occasions). So when Subaru dropped this top model WRX, only in CVT, it seemed like the right pairing. Glad to have you watching!
I have the 23 N, absolutely love it. So fun.
It really is. I absoltely love mine too. Too many people still underrate it, they see "Hyundai" and immediately think it's trash, when they simply just don't understand

Get rid of the pops & bangs, then I'd consider one. Also the 2024 looks SOOOOOO much better. (sorry 😄)
Subaru has less to prove. They have people who will only ever buy subarus. Hyundai is slowly gaining that type of fan base, but to most people, they are the alternate from the Toyotas and Hondas they've been buying for the past 20 years.
I like the WRX GT, and I really appreciate you guys reviewing it, but at $45k with destination the price is a hard pill to swallow.
Don’t know if it helps, but I was able to get mine at 40k. It had been sitting on the lot for 4 months though.
@@dipastick Not really when you can get a lot of the extra Gt goodies and a much better transmission for 35k in the Elantra.
still insane that subaru doesn't offer the manual in the GT. its like they're actively punishing people who want a manual for no reason. and the CVT isn't even more fuel efficient which is hard to wrap one's head around.
