    Thanks but I always watch TH-cam before I take next lessons.. I was riding in no time because of it.. and I really liked this video so I can progress going upwind but it’s heavy learning in the waves

    Just wanted to say a huge thank you. Your particular way of describing how to get your stance correct is unique and has totally transformed my riding (my left knee thanks you also) over the last 2 sessions you've raised my game several notches.
    thanks and I will be watching your other videos with attention to every precise detail ! Matt

    I watched this after my first lesson and it was interesting. I just watched it again after my first day able to get up and stay up and it meant so much more. Very clear and concise. Thanks.

    Great tips! thank you, I am brand new to this.. Like you took one lesson and started buying stuff, but now it's winter, water isn't froze over yet, so I wait to play, and watch video's until I can get out on some skies or a snowboard.

    This was great. I am 12 months in. Having a mental checklist when I am up and going is super helpful. Are my feet flat? Are my hands close? Do I have hip extension? - today was good ( crappy low winds.. but hey time on the water is time on the water ), and I just had those three questions in my head.
    Made a huge difference in focusing on the right things.

    Good pointers. What about body tension? I have a feeling that it is important during a waterstart and further in to go upwind.

  • @eliassmith8101
    @eliassmith8101 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    good video, but 2 years ago i learned that you can ride a steeper angle to the wind when both knees are flexed, very exhausting when you have never done this, but when jumping with long hangtime its very good to get back your height

    I was committed after two lessons and before I bought my first old kite online
    We're all afraid of the initial speed and losing control.
    Same for transitions. Let the kite pull you through the sliding transition
    Confidence, people, confidence....
    As for the 'hands closer together', I would suggest we remember that the kite pulls our torso, not the hands and arms.

    • @TheOKKiteboarder
      @TheOKKiteboarder  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comments. The hands closer together is to prevent oversteering and to be conducive to controlled steering.

    • @notwhatiwasraised2b
      @notwhatiwasraised2b 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheOKKiteboarder Yes, I'm aware. But I find it a useful tip to remember because I too often rely on my hands and arm strength with a wide grip instead of letting the kite pull my torso. A close grip forces me use less hand and arm strength.

  • @patrickmcintosh3173
    @patrickmcintosh3173 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great list and well done communicating the errors and corrective steps. 🤘🏼
    Random tip/thing I found that helps me ride more aggressively up wind. Consider using it as a tip or use as an error if it’s poor form: with my back foot in the foot strap I point my back foot slightly more in the direction of travel, so my heel is just a bit more towards the tail of the board. That way I can get a tad more leverage with heel pressure to direct the board upwind. For me, it makes my foot contact more solid which corrects any toe lift. I’ll pivot back to a more neutral stance if I’m carving to the toes or just riding more relaxed.

    For transitions I would recommend stopping before bringing the kite to 12 by pointing the board into the wind and slowly pushing out on the bar... then you can bring the kite to 12 and then around to the other side of the wind window.. but good tip on slowing things down :)

    Ok. I loved this video. Really good stuff. So I subscribed. Looked for videos on jumping. No videos on jumping. All I care about is jumping. I’ve been kiting for 7 years. I’m jumping and I’ve jumped pretty good at times, especially if it’s windy. But I’m still not jumping consistently. If I don’t learn how to jump-consistently and big-I’ll get bored and probably quit.
