8:43 great video. I have been kiting for 2 years now. Could have really used this about a year and a half ago. There is very little out there on the importance of line tension. Nice job. Keep it up.

I am in the learning phases of kiteboarding these are really superb tutorials.
I live in Cape Town which is not that learner friendly the wind is strong and conditions feisty I spend most of my time trying to survive forget where my edge is. Lets say this 25 knots which here is like 30 because the wind is dense with 2m of swell has taught me a lot of poor techniques because the wind saves you from poor kite flying, I would benefit from visiting a light wind destination where I can focus on technique only and not all the rest.

its all about short rides. And please dont take the kite up to 12 to stop. This only takes you down wind. If you you leave the kite at 2 or 10 "riding Height" and just sheet out all the way. Youll go straight upwind. STop. Then take it up to 12. Don't leave it at 12. take it to 1 or 11 immediatly to sustain constant pressure = full control of the board.

I have trouble going upwind when traveling to the right. I am OK traveling to the left with your tips.

I have hard time to maintain the kite at 45 degree while controlling the speed.

most likely its because you are not riding with one hand(back Hand) and also shifting the hand to the middle part of the bar. Go out and practice one handed body drags upwind... l, fully sheeted in and maintaining 1:30 or 10:30. Like a board retrieval but powered up, Angling body into the breeze. If you cant do it while body dragging you cant do it while riding.

@@ewatersports Thanks for your quick reply. I meant that I had to keep signing the kite in order to maintain the speed. When I sheet in and out the bar, the kite will move down and up. I use Naish Kite which is hard to keep it steady.

We would have to say that possibly you are on too small of a kite. Or you are extremely good at edging and your kite is being pulled up closer to the edge of the wind window. Try flatting the board a bit and turning the nose of the board into the breeze utilizing the fins more than the edge or just equaling the two

Thanks for the tips. Would be perfect if you did not add the Okay? and Alright? in your speaking. Okay? Okay? Alright? Okay? ...Whew!

okay okay you got us. Sometime we need to reflect back as instructors and realize certain habits. The total amount of time in between successful takes racks up and as we project the info as an instructor on the water i engage in my student making sure the info is clear and absorbed. Speaking to a camera doesn't allow me to receive that acknowledgement there for I repeat. We soon have a very funny video coming out on just how I broke the habit on newer videos, Also how contagious it is with other instructor we have. Way tooo funny. If you have any feedback on the video and contributions to the community you should leave some comments so to help others better their riding. Thanks
