@@jaycee30865 T75s are 3 dbs lower than V30s and both H speakers. "Although an increase of 3 dB represents a doubling of the sound pressure, an increase of about 10 dB is required before the sound subjectively appears to be twice as loud. The smallest change we can hear is about 3 dB." Pulled straight from google and I get what they mean. More dynamic speaker all around. People think they love British mids until they hear a more modern version of a British speaker that dials back the mids a bit and adds some punch to everything else. The G12H has a British foundation with some American sensibilities. Perfect.
Keep seeing the G12T-75 show up, and it keeps sounding good. My Rectoverb 25 is a bit mid-strong for me and I’d rather not add an EQ pedal to my already crowded pedal board. The Verb comes with a UK V30. The V-Types are actually pretty good speakers.
after having hours upon hours put in with my marshall DSL through an EVH 2x12 with the G12H30's and having become somewhat tired of what I percieve anyway as an overly fizzy character and unrefined low end, this is very much helping me make up my mind for the replacements and I am leaning towards either the V types or the creamback 75s
I think you'll dig the Creamback's the most if you want nice treble. Actually the best treble that I've experienced comes from the Celestion Cream, but unfortunately I don't have one anymore, so it didn't end up in the video. It's an alnico speaker so quite expensive, but has such a nice fizz to it without being harsh. I think this speaker is mostly used for cleans, but damn... it sounded super awesome with high gain too, especially in the room.
The DSLs are quite scooped. I recommend running mids on 10, treble no more than 4, preferably 3, presence wide open on 10, bass and resonance around 5. That will get it into useable territory, regardless of the speaker used.
I have a dsl40cr that came with the V-Type and it's really fizzy and lacks bottom end...it sounds thin and brittle...not so bad for blues and country...terrible for metal though. I use an extension cab loaded with a Vintage 30 8ohm for high gain and it fixes the fizz issue and has tons of bottom end...it thumps and has searing creamy leads...so much better than the v-type for that application.
Yes, the G12H is definitely a great alternative for V30's. I think its a bit overshadowed by todays success of the whole Creamback line (which are great speakers too ofcourse)

@@vicferrari89 I had some long talks with various V30 nerds about this and the consensus was that the initial differences are the most apparent. After years of burn in, apparently the V30s from China sound similar to the UK. As far as I know they moved all their manufacturing equipment to China to get them set up too, and after some setbacks early on, should be pretty close. That said, I think the original equipment is in the UK again with the Chinese stuff calibrated off of it. There is a whole thing about the cones too. Great comparison! I’m thinking of putting a new speaker in my Marshall DSL40CR and this was a big help. Many thanks. Creamback 75 I think! I like the V30 as well.
I think a pairing of 2 Creamback 75's with 2 V30's in a 4x12 would sound excellent, maybe switch one of the 4 speakers for a Creamback 65 for some extra low end
Man the thing with this is IMO - THEY ALL sound good in their own way. At some point you just gotta decide what tone and sound YOU want. Ask yourself musically/sonically what you're trying to achieve, and does that speaker or combination do it?
Yep. Good ears man. The V30 doesn't have any of that nasty ear killing 2k jingle bells from hell. Who cares about 'beefy'. It's those higher frequencies you want to get rid of. That's where the real warmth comes from !
@Chief Thundrecock - Well, actually it depends on what type of rig you're running into the speaker(s). Your signal chain is going to determine what's coming out of it more than anything else. That said, you must be using a lot of digital stuff.
@@TheAxe4Ever a speaker like the v30 slays in taming the woofiness of something like a dual rectifier and bringing out its mids amongst all the low end, where they can get harsh with somethings thats crunchier like a 5150 which is too much high end paired with v30s.
borutos dad I guess that’s why I hated them so much. I got my first Peavey 5150 head (Block letter) when they first came out. I was playing it through a Marshall cab with V30’s and hated it. I had been through a few cabinets through the years and they all came loaded with V30’s for some reason. Probably because they were a popular speaker and I really wanted to try to like them. Recently I went with the EVH 5150 III and the same thing. V30’s were awful with that too. Finally broke down and bought the matching cab with the EVH G12. They are actually the G12M Heritage speakers with the EVH badge on the back. MUCH better. So yeah, you are correct. Depends on the amp they’re paired with.
thanks for such a hi-fi, clear sounding video. also, you did a great job dialing in a killer distortion sound. it sounds good regardless of each speaker's own signature stamp. I'm still deciding on which speaker I liked best. although I can say that i myself own a 4x12 of GT12-75's, and in this video, they sound amongst the weakest of the other speakers here, to my ear. the other speakers have made me more aware of a high-mid fizz that is present in the character of the G12T-75, that I would rather not have present. here goes more GAS. lol
MrKingswebe Thanks! Well, I have a hate love relationship with the T75. I would suggest both of the creambacks and the lynchback as great alternatives for the T75 and V30.
that's the way to do a speaker test, thanks a lot. G12H30 Anniversary for me, also that V-type is growing on me, it has most of the G12H30/Greenback/Vintage 30 sounds without any of the bad peaks, a very classy rock sound really and dirt cheap too
Thanks! Yes, the G12H30 is actually a great speaker too. I actually like it even more on this newer comparison I've made: th-cam.com/video/JERNrggNNtI/w-d-xo.html It's the first speaker in the comparison clips.
I've tried all kinds of speaker brands and models. But I was always going back to the Cele V30. They're by far the best speaker for my style (stoner rock/hard rock).
It is definitely one of the best speakers out there. Did you try one of the creamback speakers yet? I honestly like the G12M-65 Creamback even more then V30's, so perhaps you will like them too.
V30 and G12M-65 makes a great pair despite the volume difference. We all know that V30's has that upper mid spike that many people either love or hate. M65 has a lot of mids as well but in different frequencies. Together they make a combination that has nice mid bump instead of mid spike. Thick but roaring and cutting but not piercing. M65's also add some "brown" character to the sound. Even that I haven't tried it yet I am positively sure that V30's and G12H-75's make equally good pair as well. With a little less brown sound though
A suggestion for all viewers of this kind of videos is using speakers or headphones to really appreciate the differences wich are very noticeable. To me the Vintage 30 takes the cake because it is the less coloured and more natural sound where you can hear a parfect balance between a deep bass, natural rich mids and sweet top end.
Can't decide???? Mix speaker types! I have a 2x12 with a V30 and a G12T-75. When I swapped out the other V30 for the 75 it made such an awesome improvement... and by itself the 75 is my least preferred speaker lol.
oh definitely. I actually tried using 4 different speakers in one cab... and the result? Actually just awesome sounding! IMO a 2x12 should always have two different speakers. It just gives you more options for recording and mixing speakers always sounds nice.
12H-creamback was my favorite. Just bought a 5150 iconic and have heard that the speaker in it is chinese made like the rest of it which is fine, chinas come a long way since the 90s crap they used to build, but if it doesnt appease what im looking for, im on the hunt for a speaker that will hold all the different tones it canthrow at it. Any suggestions?
By far and large, the differences are almost always negligible in light of the fact you can get fundamentally the exact same sound from one to the next by employing a graphic equalizer on your effects loop. I have some speakers that are very dark and rich throughout the bass and midrange, but the treble is virtually nil until action is taken outside the limits of the amp's EQ and just as obviously, the speaker itself. Now, how well they handle volume at the tail and head of the bandwidth curve is obviously something else. Some are going to distort terribly once you're at 50% volume be it in the bass, the treble or both. *Ultimately, how much volume must the speaker be relied on to produce in live settings.* I'm a deeply scooped mids shredder even with sweeping nonstop and thought I stress I can get whatever tone I desire out of virtually any speaker, I do tend to prefer a darker toned speaker that I have to bring in a lot of treble to achieve my tone over speakers seemingly more appropriate for a deeply scooped waveform. Ultimately, I can still get whatever sound I want out of virtually any speaker by modifying the tone stack or running a shelving EQ on the loop. *Strangely, I have some ratty ass 12's marked as an equivalent to the rocket 50, but I can get them dangerously loud with plenty of low end and more treble than is tolerable due to the nature of the speaker.*
"By far and large, the differences are almost always negligible in light of the fact you can get fundamentally the exact same sound from one to the next by employing a graphic equalizer on your effects loop". Nope, nope, nope.... I totally disagree. That's just impossible. You can scoop away frequencies, but you can't eq frequencies up that just aren't there (or not enough). That's just not how it works. You should look into the fundamentals of what an eq actually is. It's a bunch of filters. But like I said you can't CREATE what isn't in your signal. The question that should be asked is if every speaker generates the same output signal but with different amplitudes for different frequencies.... because that's what you're theoretically assuming... or does it also create different overtones?
@@ThevonMusic I'm a college educated electrical engineer, lmao. You can disagree all you want, but you're wrong. I outright design and invent technology, and understand these subjects at the quantum level. *You are so far out of your depth, I'm literally annoyed by how foolish your imaginary knowledge is.* You don't even have a basic understanding of a response curve and why there are no voids in a bandwidth like you're imagining. If a speaker is 93 dB at 800 Hz, it isn't suddenly 46 dB at 1000 Hz, let alone 0 dB. Everything you said is wrong and foolish. I'll just get annoyed trying to explain it to you because you will constantly insert gibberish rather than admit you don't have a clue what you're talking about lol. I'm not theoretically assuming anything. A response curve from 50 Hz to 5 Khz between 2 different speakers won't magically have 0 dB at a cornered frequency within that bandwidth. The slopes in magnitude that differ can be matched with an equalizer, and the fact that you don't understand that speaks 10 fold.

Great comparison! I’m thinking of putting a new speaker in my Marshall DSL40CR and this was a big help. Many thanks. Creamback 75 I think! I like the V30 as well.
Glad it was helpful and great choice!
I love the sound of the H30-Anniversary, closely followed by the H75
Vintage 30 & Lynch backs did it for me. But my favorite are the classic lead 80s
I think a pairing of 2 Creamback 75's with 2 V30's in a 4x12 would sound excellent, maybe switch one of the 4 speakers for a Creamback 65 for some extra low end
I have the Peavey Invective cab 2x12 (creamback &v30) w/bias rack.......insane
Awesome video, man! Thanks for that!! \m/
If it obligó has included the 70 eigthy for comparison purposes, it is a stock speaker for lots if amps
Man the thing with this is IMO - THEY ALL sound good in their own way. At some point you just gotta decide what tone and sound YOU want. Ask yourself musically/sonically what you're trying to achieve, and does that speaker or combination do it?
Holy shit what a great comparison video
Excellent demo, excellent tones.
65/75 Creambacks sounded best to my ears, but they are all good. Now I know what to upgrade with, thank you.
Creambacks are definitely great speakers. Also the alnico Cream is excellent (but also more expensive)
Excellent video! V30 for sure.
I am always about Vintage 30's but I do like the G12H-75 Creamback as well. Would like to hear the Redback too.
I love the creamy sound of creamback
I love this demo! the riffs are great!
Oh yea, vintage 30's for the win!
Yep. Good ears man. The V30 doesn't have any of that nasty ear killing 2k jingle bells from hell. Who cares about 'beefy'. It's those higher frequencies you want to get rid of. That's where the real warmth comes from !
Chief Thundrecock Yep! The Vintage 30 is the worst speaker Celestion ever made. Even the Rocket 50 sounds better than the V30.
Finally, someone with real vintage Celestion speakers and not China-made garbage, Bravo my man!
thanks for such a hi-fi, clear sounding video.
also, you did a great job dialing in a killer distortion sound. it sounds good regardless of each speaker's own signature stamp.
Hey, you are really good at rhythms, nice precise playing)
I wonder how the Classic Lead, the Greenback and the K100 would fare in comparison with these... Great job man.
+Jaime Noro Thanks! Yes, that would be interesting but I simply don't own those speakers.
@@ThevonMusic the Greenback 25 is the best guitar speaker of all.
Excellent playing. I'm a v type fan (bassbreaker 30r rocks)
that's the way to do a speaker test, thanks a lot.
I actually like it even more on this newer comparison I've made: th-cam.com/video/JERNrggNNtI/w-d-xo.html
It's the first speaker in the comparison clips.
Awesome review. Well played and recorded. Thoughtful production. Easy to toggle between spkrs w/ the video thumbnail below. Thank you!
Does the M have a lots of mids?? Sounds like a moderate scoop to me??
Cool hot riffs ! Tone sounds like my Friedman rig
Get Creambacks people. My M65 loaded 4x12 was the backline for 4 bands from grunge to modern metal and they all sounded massive through it
Vtype and creamback 65 my favorites
A suggestion for all viewers of this kind of videos is using speakers or headphones to really appreciate the differences wich are very noticeable. To me the Vintage 30 takes the cake because it is the less coloured and more natural sound where you can hear a parfect balance between a deep bass, natural rich mids and sweet top end.
Vintage 30 win
Less colored? Oh god
@@joeambly6807 that was exactely my reaction
G12T-75s all day and all night!
A type and t75s me like the most
I was Surprised I liked the A type. I have never even looked at that speaker before. And the g12-75 Creamback
I think a 4x12 cab with two celestion v types on the top and two celestion lynch backs on the bottom would be the sickest ever.
Perfect comparison, much appreciated. Can't imagine the time and effort it took.
What are your favourites then?
I like both of the Creambacks (M65, H75), the Cream (alnico) is fantastic too (but not in this video). The G12H30 + Lynchback are great too.
This demo comparison is a little TOO good. They ALL sound great!
Thanks! That means a lot to me because I've spent a sh*tload of time on amp settings and mic placement for each recording.
Anyone know what the cabinet setup was for this test? Single 12", 2x12, 4x12?
It's in the description. A 1x12. I made this cab myself from birch plywood.
@@ThevonMusic Ah yes. Very cool. Thank you, thank you! :-)

excellent video, greetings from mexico
Thanks! greetings from Belgium
I thought they all sound pretty good, except for the A type maybe. I think it comes down to personal preference. I liked the V type and V30 best.
I want all of them xD
There are just so different, and sound can be great with each one :3
Those 65w Creambacks sound killer
what do you think about Creamback M65 and T75 combo? T75 has body and quick definition, M65 has that greenbacky midrange cut
G12H-75 Creamback is the winner :)
P.s when I wrote this, the speakers on a FedEx truck on the way to my house. Getting it tomorrow.
@@markstewart8171 The best all around speaker I used so far is the Celestion Cream, which is an alnico. Unfortunately, quite expensive.
The G12H-75 Creamback was the best for my ears.
Type-A is my favorite sound for metal. Thats coming from an audio engineer too!
*Ultimately, how much volume must the speaker be relied on to produce in live settings.*
I'm a deeply scooped mids shredder even with sweeping nonstop and thought I stress I can get whatever tone I desire out of virtually any speaker, I do tend to prefer a darker toned speaker that I have to bring in a lot of treble to achieve my tone over speakers seemingly more appropriate for a deeply scooped waveform.
*You are so far out of your depth, I'm literally annoyed by how foolish your imaginary knowledge is.*
You don't even have a basic understanding of a response curve and why there are no voids in a bandwidth like you're imagining.
