A question for anyone: I've got a Sonos Roam, and I love it. But the Sonos app is a real pain in the ass - very awkward. And I have TH-cam Music (because for one monthly sub fee, I can get no ads on TH-cam as well as YT Music. My question is this: is it at all possible to use AirPlay *directly* from the TH-cam Music iOS app (and bypass the Sonos app)? I don't think so, but maybe I missed something. I know that you can use Spotify Connect outside the Sonos app, which would be my first choice, but I can't afford to have two ongoing subscriptions (one for TH-cam, and one for Spotify). I hope I'm being clear. One more question. If I choose to get a Sonos Sub Mini in the future, will it work with Sonos Ones? I know it wouldn't work with a Roam, but I'm thinking it will work with Ones… thanks
Please can you show me how to stay with Sonos and not have to upgrade to Sonos 2? I cannot follow their instructions, as Sonos 2 will not to talk to my connect box and therefore my Cambridge stayed . Many thanks
Superb ? No way you need to try Bose or Harmon Kardon you will know the difference right away. One Onyx Harmon Kardon blows all those speakers you have out off he water the Bass alone pushes your hair back. You feel it these speakers sound like dollar store knock off at full blast
Personally, I would do another Move as it is bluetooth and the One's are not. One's can only find music via a networked machine (such as a NSD or pc) so unless you want your pc turned on (or laptop) whilst you play music, I would go for a Move. Move is more flexible.
Got 6 of them in my gym and they are pretty awful at high volume as far as I’m concerned, unless you only play music that doesn’t have a lot of bass. The low frequencies should not be drowning out the highs as much as they do, and I shouldn’t have to connect a Sonos subwoofer to fix the problem.
Sure, you can just group the speaker that you want to play together on the Airplay Control Panel/SONOS app. otherwise, you can hold the play button on the speaker for grouping / ungrouping. 👍
Since it uses wi-fi rather than bluetooth, theoretically my friends and I could all control it at once through multiple devices, right? Like multiple users could simultaneously add songs to the queue?
Hi Ash, yes that's correct. Anyone with access to your WiFi can add songs to the Sonos queue from their devices or you can do it directly through Spotify if you have an account with that. I hope that helps.
Hi, wonder if you could help (I'm a technophobe, sorry). My GF wants a Sonos One for Xmas - she wants to be able to add a speaker to her laptop to play spotify! The Sonos seems an expensive way of projecting sound from the internet? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks
Hi Robert, she doesn't need the laptop to play her Spotify on the Sonos speaker one. Once you set it up and added or sync the Spotify account, she can play it by either asking Alexa or Google to play her music, or just pressing play on the speaker. You can choose which voice assistant you want during set up. You do need to download the Sonos app on her cellphone and from there she can control it. Hope this helps. I just bought a pair last night, am enjoying them right now.
Hey man I bought a pair of these but I started getting problems controlling to the app since I upgraded my wifi to a mesh system, I understand these connect to the 2.4Ghz band but somehow 2 full days went by before my phone stopped connecting to them. They are still connected to wifi as I can still use the assistant and control through voice, but I can't control them through the app neither on pc nor android
Unfortunately not. The One is a WiFi only speaker as it is designed to be used at home. The Sonos Roam and Move both have Bluetooth as they are portable speakers where Bluetooth is more useful. Hope that helps!
Hi :) I am considering one of these, I currently have an Echo dot in my kitchen which sounds a little tinny. Can you or anyone on here compare the two? Is the Sonos one richer in sound compared to the Echo dot?
Armaan you are so right. Echo dot is listening to a radio, it's like comparing Apple to orange. First time I saw and heard Sonos at a Best Buy store, I immediately fell in love with the amazing sound quality. Played them back to back to a Bose speaker, all I can say was WOW. Finally got 2 speakers yesterday, enjoying it so much!
Hey Mark, thanks for watching. Apologies that this wasn't covered but to briefly explain, they did upgrade the processor and memory chip in the Gen 2 compared with the Gen 1, so it should be fully future-ready. Other than this, there are no acoustic differences between them and the drivers remain the same. I hope this helps!
Mark Lambert To be honest Mark it baffles me really, and I think that it is a bit of a money making scam. They will link up with your other Sonos speakers, and they will stream Music, and use smart assistants if you have one on your speaker! To me this is just a way that they will brick an older Gen a few years down the line, so that you feel you have to upgrade!! It stinks really.

Now, if you can get the device to hear your voice, do an accurate search, and deliver the exact results you are looking for, it does sound good - but the odds are against you. Lastly, no Bluetooth playback? What was the thinking here? The majority of bluetooth devices can do this, but not Sonos. I wouldn't be surprised if that's due to the deals that were made with the many music streaming partners (e.g - Tidal). Overall, it promises much, but does little well.
