      I used to love the facial fluid, but then started breaking out like there's no tomorrow. I will still use the invisible spray for my body, as well as use it on my kid. It's not sticky and not perfumed, so I quite enjoy it.

      Eucerin oil control sunscreen is comparable, easier to apply and between £5-10 cheaper depending where you get it. I used to love LRP but I really wanted a cheaper one and the eucerin one is amazing (only flaw is the chemical smell lingers a little longer than LRP)

    Thank you so so much for bringing up the cruelty free factor! I follow a lot of dermatologists here on TH-cam, and they all love The La Roche-Posay lipikar series, but NONE of them talk about the fact that the brand do test on animals. In fact many of the brands they recommend are not cruelty free. As you said, animal testing means unnecessary suffering. And if big brands like L'Oreal would pull their products from China as long as animal testing is required, it might push the chinese authorities towards a change in regulations.

    I have discovered this brand for myself quite recently. I used to use Loreal and other most popular brands for men. My skin was always dry, had a lot of breakouts and blackheads. LRP is an amazing brand, I started to see results in few days, even my colleagues started to compliment me. I am almost 40 years old man, and I am very grateful to people like you, who spread awareness and reviews brands which actually work.

    LRP is one of the best brands for me on the market. Their sunscreens are incredible and the invisible fluid rocked my whole world. I also like their products for dry and sensitive skin. I think the cons that you pointed out, actually apply to most of the brands on the market. Formulation is something that every individual should be mindful, because everyone has different issues and sensitivities/triggers. I agree with your opinion about the serums. They are ridiculously overpriced but I don’t have a problem with the price of their other products, because they get the job done and are easily accessible.

    Thanks for another good video. I love the Lipikar and cicaplast series from LRP. The cicaplast lip balm has played a major role in my skin care during the winter, and the Lipikar Balm AP+M has worked wonders on my dry legs. however, my cat loves it too, so I have to keep her out of the bathroom when I apply it, or else she just starts licking my shins... My holy grail sunscreen, and the one that really got me to wear sunscreen daily, is the Anthelios Anti Age SPF 50. It sinks in beautifully, it gives a natural glow, it doesn't pill, and it has shea butter that gives that silky moisturising effect.

I think it was that darn Niaminacide again. I also tried their Double Reapair AM and PM moisturizers but found them too heavy for my skin. It's hard to find skincare that works for sensitive combo/oil skin. I like Cetaphil cleanser, but hate the fragrance! When you are marketing to sensive skin I don't get adding irritating fragrance. I've used La Roche Posay sunscreen in the past, but I don't anymore because I'm trying to switch over to cruelty free versions of skincare, makeup etc. My exception to this is their cicaplast soothing repairing balm. I read reviews from people saying this was better than their prescription cream for eczema so I tried it and it actually is. The prescription cream it replaced probably wasn't cruelty free either. But if Roche Posay became cruelty free I'd definitely try more of their products.

    Unfortunately money stills rules over ethical choices. Basically,…..choosing to test on animals to still be able to gain profits is unforgivable (for me at least). As if L’Oréal isn’t making enough money already 😵‍💫 The Bettencourt family is one of the wealthiest of this world to date. Besides the animal testing I also can’t live with a company choosing benefits over “giving back” to the planet and their employees etc. etc. Making billions of money in profit while at the same time leaving the ones that make that possible (i.e. the employees) at the bottom of the food chain is mildly said not ethical by any means.
    Keep up the good work.

      @thescarletgraywitch8052 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@msk-qp6fn you need to do more research... for one thing they DO steal pets. Another there is not a single law in China concerning animal abuse. People horrifically abuse animals in the middle of the street, on video, etc and there is nothing done about it... on top of that, there is nothing culturally relevant or important about it. It is not needed, nor due to lack of resources and food, and is a massive issue all around.
      No problem with boiling and skinning animals alive, horrendous treatment, VERY ill animals that present huge health issues (just like the wet markets)... in the future perhaps don't make a comment like this without actually researching what is going on.

      @@doanphuong1325 I don't either. We just no longer need to test anything cosmetic on animals anymore. I understand Rob's stance about the brand just going along with no animal testing for financial reasons, but I must confess that at this point, I'm just so happy when a company halts all animal testing that I don't really care about their motives for now. Tbh, I just want them to stop!
      Geez, companies can harvest snail mucin without being cruel. We sure don't need Puppies and such being bred just to suffer through their entire, short lives. 😥 It is a bummer too since many of their established products seem really nice, like their adapalene formulations.

    In fact, what you are telling us is that La Roche Posay has been ruined by Loreal. It is hardly surprising.
    It used to be a good solid brand prescribed by dermatologists in France. They did not have serums and things like that in their range. It is probably the Loreal effect!
    Very disappointing that Loreal feel obliged to buy and destroy everyting. I use the sunscreen and if I buy another product it will only be a moisturising cream or something solid and basic.

    Great video. Thank you! I started using about 7 years ago. However I do not use the entire line. I started with sunscreen, then cicaplast, toleriane line, body & face washes as of late (lipkar & toleriane) I buy when on sale as they are expensive. I do not use anything with fragrance (including essential oils, some extracts or anything sensitizing), & then the drying alcohol, or witch hazel. I actually started with Avene sunscreen but switched to la Roche because of the ingredient list. The Avene cicaplast for example, has some questionable ingredients. Would love to see a talk on Avene!?! I have looked into a lot of the dupes both makeup & skincare. Unfortunately, when you look up each ingredient you'll find that many of the ingredients in cheaper products are deemed as average for the most part & only a few or less better ingredients. Thus I've stuck with la Roche and other more expensive products. For make up I might (minimal) try inexpensive dupes or such but not for skincare. But so far I can't help but notice the difference long term. I'm still not convinced that inexpensive vs more expensive are one & the same. Unlike food, it is hard to see the difference short term. I think that if you're under 25, start small (inexpensive) but don't sacrifice quality, & by the time you hit 30, don't take risks. The beauty industry is at its peak but who wants to spend their hard earned cash & time on reversing, fixing ... And as you can see prices are going up. I am not for splurging (as some call it), but I will spend depending on what I'm getting. Do I think la Roche is overpriced, maybe. But there is more to say about than just ingredients or price. Competition plays in the price too. Every business wants as much profit as possible. From ELF to la mer. I don't consider the brand more than ingredients. While I would prefer quality over looks (packaging) who isn't drawn to more beautiful things. In a perfect world I would love for everything to look lovely but at this point in time, I prefer quality. And don't want to pay for fancy packaging. But it sells. So that's a battle I'm not messing with. But I am certainly not in support of it & may buy as a gift to spoil someone but just to have a pretty package with not so pretty ingredients, I won't. I tried the ordinary for under a year & did not see the same results when I used more expensive brands. With these not only short term results, but lasting. It takes months before I see my skin reverting. but with many inexpensive, if any significant results, only while using, if that. With my current skincare my skin gets better & better even though I'm aging, as all of us are. Nonetheless I really enjoy MAD ABOUT SKIN. And this conversation is so important & light here. Sorry if my comment lays heavy. Not my intention. I really want to support this channel. Which is why I started writing! But once I started writing I realized once again how important it is to talk and discuss our past present & future in this way. Thank you MAD About SKIN. Well done. Looking forward to another. Xoxo

    I really do like their products but, they're substantially more expensive in the United States. When I order from Europe it's still cheaper than buying here, even with the cost of shipping. Also, I WISH we had the 100ML CicaPlast here! It's the opposite here, they discontinued the large size and kept the small size lol. I've found that Soonjung 2x Barrier Intense Cream is a good dupe.

    Sooooooo many great L. Posay products have been a staple in my skincare for over a decade. ♥️ However, always in for the new insights 🙌 Wow, do the prices vary from a country to a country in Europe, not to mention US. Agreed on the serums mentioned. The only one using is Hyalu B. Personally do not mind fragrance in skin care. This one is absolutely expert formulated. It's packed with benefetial ingredients, parfume being the last one. And yes! If you've proved and tested for decades a product that is definitely top notch, it is about time to stop testing it on animals. 🙌p.s. though, Eucerin has stepped up their 'game' I must say

    I have to say that I've had mostly negative experiences with LRP products, which is odd considering I do not have sensitive skin and very rarely get any sort of negative reaction to skincare. I find it questionable that, being a "pharmacy" brand, some of their products are so strongly fragranced you might as well be rubbing perfume on your face (I think the worst one I've tried is the B5 ampoule). The Anthelios sunscreen was another big disappointment as it BURNS my face like no other sunscreen I've ever tried - I do get a bit of a tingle with some chemical sunscreens but Anthelios is painful, it's like rubbing my face with sandpaper. However, I agree with your opinion on the Cicaplast Baume, I've been using it for years and the stuff is amazing!

    Hi Rob this brand has some excellent products for truly sensitive and atopic skin and a lot of staples in my routine are from French pharmacy brands, for that reason. Their baby cicaplast and lipikar balms are products I'm never without. I like some of the cleansers, but prefer the Avene cleansers for my own skin. As far as "cruelty free" all European brands do not themselves test on animals and I refuse to let China's practices dictate my buying decisions. China is completely disinterested in what the rest of the world thinks of them and have a very different cultural take on animal cruelty, which is far more than just the testing of cosmetics practices.
    French pharmacy brands often have ranges that are targeted at specific skin concerns eg acne, eczema, rosacea etc and for those of us affected by these conditions, are often some of the best products on the market for alleviating or minimising these concerns. They have many gentle and effective products with minimal INCI lists, that truly don't aggravate some of these concern also. They're readily accessible to many people in a variety of countries, without the hassle of online ordering from a different country too. There is a reason why I continue to buy from these brands - it's because many of the products work for me and there are so many products on the market that don't. I have both rosacea and eczema, as well as super dry menopausal skin - all of this makes it a nightmare to find products that just work on my skin. It really does limit the brands and products I can use without irritating my skin and no brand from cosmetic giants is going to be without faults. Best wishes.

    • @lorainemcgillivray77
      @lorainemcgillivray77 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AllysonRiley-d4k they do not test on animals during the manufacture of their products. The controversy is about after market testing by China. In order to sell in China products not made there are subject to random testing including testing cosmetics on animals. LRP does not do testing themselves but they know China has this practice and continue to supply them with product. This is the current situation around being cruelty free. Animal testing has been banned in Europe for a long time so no product made here is tested on animals before you use it. The only issue is China continuing to test after manufacture. I hope that clarifies x

    LRP is a major staple for me. I use the Toleriane hydrating gentle cleanser, and the foaming version for workout/yard work/particularly grungy days. The foaming version has also proved great as a general body wash. The sunscreens work incredibly well for me. I order in the Anthelios UVmune 400 50+ hydrating cream from the UK/Europe. Dr. Dray mentioned it, and holy crap. It is perfect for my skin that tends dry. I don’t think it would work for more oily skin. When I want something lighter, I have the Toleriane SPF 30 moisturizer. For body, I have SPF 60 lotion. Once I go through what I have I’ll try to get body sunscreen from the UK/Europe for the better filters.
    I love the Avene Cicalfate balm, sorry to LRP but I won’t change that. 😂 I do agree on the serums- very meh. LRP, Vichy, Avene, ELF are the main brands in my skin care, with a couple other products from No 7, Ordinary, Paula’s Choice.

    Loreal has a good taste in the brands they eat up, I have to give them that. They bought LRP, Vichy, Garnier, CeraVe, Body Shop, SkinCeuticals, Khiels, Biotherm, Youth to the People, etc. Whether they do a good job in keeping said brands is a different matter, though (looking at what they did to Body Shop for example). I haven't got much against Loreal and their brands, but I have been trying to use less of Loreal's products. It's why I have been hoarding Avene Intense Protect whenever I see them, using Bepanthen instead of Cicaplast, and trying out Mustela and Uriage and other local brands and lesser known k-beauty brands.

    I've been aware of LRP in Boots for many years but with sooo many products on display, had never tried it. Recently I had the opportunity to try out the fluid shaka SPF 50 and it is a game-changer for me. I have very fair, freckly skin which is sun-sensitive and the shaka SPF 50 has enabled me to feel safe in the sunshine (still in shade lol). Not only that but the texture is lovely - it seems to adhere to face skin almost like a primer - and indeed I use it as a primer under makeup. It doesn't make my eyes sting and it doesn't change the "colour" of my skin under makeup - no oiling up etc. The newer formula is more yellowy tinged and I prefer the original shaka one. I've struggled to find a SPF that feels good on the face, doesn't cause breakouts, and doesn't go oily (& cast white in photos) - this one is IT.

    La Roche Posay is actually cruelty free because Loreal uses a technology called Episkin. You can look it up if you'd like but China uses it as of 2024. So as far as cruelty free goes Loreal sunscreens in China if tested would be used in this technology now.

    Interesting points with the increased price points and sizes in the U.K… I do however think the pricing and also the sizes available vary a quite a bit from country to country. In my country in Northern Europe you have to search hard to find the Cicaplast 100 ml in any pharmacy as they all mostly offer the 40 ml and the 100 ml only on occasion. Whereas in France you can readily get both pretty much always. In my country you also cannot find some of their products as the lineup offered here is somewhat decreased. Price wise La Roche Posay is always substantially cheaper to buy from France and French or Spanish online pharmacies, that luckily get more and more available these days. It is sometimes a price difference of almost 50% compared to the prices where I live which is pretty outrageous when you think about it. But to be fair this does not seem to have anything to do with La Roche Posay as a brand but as a whole when it comes to the French pharma brands like Avène, Bioderma and it’s likes as well as other typically French brands that are also often sold in French pharmacies like Vichy, Darphine and so on… So these days I only buy these brands from French or Spanish online retailers as that saves so much money despite the increase in all over environment impact as of course it would be better if the brands made sure prices were kept low in all markets to prevent people from buying too much overseas. But when push comes to shove, just like with the animal testing for the Chinese market the environment does not mean much for the market-consumerism driven people…😘

    Some of their products are good. But the Vitamin C serum dried up my skin, not a fan of this product. I have issue with some of their sunscreens- dry me up. Products for sensitive skin - those are quite good.

    I will never use LRP unless it is confirmed to be cruelty free! Why would I? Didn't know it was part of L'Oréal either! I don't want any animals to suffer because of how a cream feels/smells on my skin. Lots of good brands out there to chose from that are cruelty free or vegan even better and do the same job.

    The cicaplast balm made my skin feel awful and dry. It also gave me a huge zit.
