I am 56 and have been using Ordinary for 2 years. That being said, I started using the Argireline Solution 10% about a year ago & it has made a pretty significant difference in my #11's & the fine wrinkles around my eyes & mouth. The results are subtle. Its not going to blow your socks off. BUT if you use it for a month & then stop. You will notice the difference within days. It works yall. And for the price I'll gladly repurchase it forever.

    • @margieangel
      @margieangel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

I agree totally that the effects are subtle. I didn't think it was doing any good and then I stopped using it and noticed the lines coming back. I get the most effect using it around the side of my face and my chin. Try it for a few months and then stop using it and you'll see what I mean. I am 68.

I have never been able to use any Vit. C product either -- until I found Maelove's Glowmaker, which seems to be as close to a dupe for Skinceuticals as one can get without getting sued. My 66 yo skin (and my DH's 67 yo skin) love it. My favorite products from The Ordinary (and ones I will never be without) are: glycolic acid toner, caffeine serum, and niacinamide with zinc serum. Those last two serums I use every day, while I alternate the other two (Vit C in morning and gylcolic at night) with Paula's Choice BHA toner in morning and Rx tretinoin at night.

I don’t even use a cotton round to apply. I just put it in my hands and pat it on my face. That way my skin absorbs it and not the cotton pad. I feel I use a lot less product this way. Great video!

I have dry, 48 year old skin with some sun damage and use the Ordinary products pm only: Alpha Arbutin, Matrixyl, Marine Hyalauranics, and Azelic acid (then another brand's Tranexamic acid, rentinol and night time moisturizer). I don't care for any of the Ordinary's retinol or vitamin C product at all - the vitamin C upsets my skin too. Timeless vitamin C 20% is supposed to be a cheaper dupe for the Skinceuticals Vitamin C and i get along with both very well but buy the Timeless version and so my AM routine is simple: CereVe cleanser, Timeless 20% vitamin C and Vanicream daily moisturizer (is exactly like CereVe PM but with no Niacinimide which irritates my eyes) and of course, sunscreen. :)

I’ve tried a lot of the ordinary products but there are 3 stand outs for me.
Squalene cleanser, azaleic acid and NMF are firm favourites for me.
I’d been using skin + me to get my acne under control after 20 years of suffering, but have now dropped that and have found that double cleansing and azaleic acid at night are the winning formula at keeping my acne at bay.

My favorite vitamin C serum from the Ordinary is the Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% serum. I used an even higher percentage of Vitamin C Serum for years than Skinceuticals which has only 15%. I am a cosmetologist also, so I pay attention! But Trinny Londons new Vitamin C is 30% in a fantastic delivery system and leaves my skin so emollient, that I go straight to my SPF afterwards. My skin has improved just from this, seriously. Regarding Vitamin C, I haven't found a suitable one for Sensitive skin from THE ORDINARY. I use CeraVe Vitamin C w/ Ceramides, HA,and B5. It's 10% L-absorbic acid Vit C serum and it's never irritated my face or neck. I got a little bored with The Ordinary for a while, but it’s made a comeback. I love the squalane cleanser and use it every day, often as a one-and-done cleanser. I also love the moisturizer. It’s not rich enough for me on a daily basis (my skin is ridiculously dry right now), but it wears wonderfully under makeup, and even mixes well with makeup. And that anhydrous salicylic acid?? Sometimes at night, if I’m feeling really dry, I’ll apply a layer of Avene XeraCalmAD before I go to sleep. It’s really nice and occlusive, but it doesn’t feel too heavy. I had problems with pilling as well in the past but after watching the Dr. Bunting advises to use it after cleansing and toner I never had that problem anymore, no matter how much I apply. I use it after toner, essence and ampoule, so after the fluids in my routine. I let the azelaic acid sink in for 1min and then apply other cremy formulas as my moisturizer or spf in the morning. I usually use it in the evening but this way it also works under makeup. No pilling at all.

53 and very lucky have good skin without much care really except always wear sunblock. Started using the lactic acid 10% and it is amazing! My skin is so clear. Wasn't locking it in with ,moisturiser so will do that from now on. I am very confused about when to do what though and what order to do a routine in. Great video and new subscriber!

I love love love the Ethylated Ascorbic Acid variant of the vitamin c serums. Note, I have only used NIOD's EAA serum. But, from what I can tell, the Ordinary's version is pretty much the same formulation, just at a lower percentage and without some additional antioxidants. But, those formulations are my vit c go-to's. I also used TO's Ascorbic Acid serum. Has the same base as the EAA serum and worked well, but was a little more irritating. I don't recall ever experiencing any irritation with the EAA.

Gemma, thank you for another great video. You are by far my fav beauty youtube. I found the video on the Ordinary very helpful. One small request though that I am wondering if some other people might make too. Would you do a follow up on the ordinary where you put together some basic skin care regimes based on the ordinary products that you mentioned? Per skin type ? It would be so helpful because one gets so overwhelmed with so many products and its hard to know what one really needs. They all sound amazing. Thank you and keep up your lovely work.

Try the “Ethylated L-Ascorbic Acid 30% Network” from NIOD, which is also an Ordinary Brand. Try it alone first and if your skin can take it, mix it with Vitamin E. It costs about $40 Canadian.

This helps me understand the different products they offer. To start off with could you please help me decided which products besides the cleanser and moisturizer I should get first. Also I desperately need a good affordable eye cream and or treatment. Love your content and TIA.

I'm only two months into building my skincare routine and what got me started was getting an RX for treninoin. Due to side effects such as dry red skin and peeling then began my journey of proper skincare.
My favorite two brands are CereVa and The Ordinary so obviously that makes me a value shopper. You mentioned a few products I use like the niacinamide serum and azelaic acid and they are both great. I have a few more on the way that were not available for sale at my local Ulta. Happy New Year!

Great video.. thanks 😊. I currently use the squalene oil and glycolic toner ( I love that stuff). In the past, I’ve used the azaelic acid and did not like the consistency either..glad to hear I’m not the only one. Alpha arbutin did nothing for me, but I may not have given it enough time. I currently use Mandelic acid from Inkey along with Ambi, and so far, noticing small changes.

Thanks for the informative video! I have been using the Ordinary products for sometime now and always seem to go back to them. I really like the Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% serum, very gentle and soaks in nicely. I also use the Resveratol serum every few days and mix it with moisturizer. It makes my skin glow and doesn't affect foundation application if you give it time to sink in. I read somewhere that it is a good antioxidant as well. I also enjoy the Ordinary Rosehip oil and find it is a good value at the price point. Tried the Alpha Arbutin on an old sun spot and didn't really work for me. I didn't care for the texture, too oily and not really effective. Otherwise, love the Ordinary products overall!

Hello 👋🏽, I am new to your channel. This is a great educational video. Thank you for this valuable resource. My skin also does not agree with vitamin C & vs versa. I can relate. New to my skin regimen is the Argireline & Matrixyl serums. I absolutely love the combination. I have noticed my skin is smoother & firmer including my neck. Thank you for letting me know that I can use these two products with Tretinoin. Your complexion is gorgeous. Thank you 😊. Cheers 😉🌷

I’m very overwhelmed. I’m wanting to update my skincare routine but really don’t know where to start. I’m 63 and have used tretinoin for many years. I currently am liking the Curology which is .05 tretinoin, Azelaic Acid 5% and Niacinimide 4% almost every night. I also like Curology cleanser and moisturizer. I have recently added their brand of SPF. I saw a TH-cam video recommending the Ordinary lash/brow boost which I am trying as well as their Niacinimide 10% + zinc. I’m using Timeless vitamin C with the Niacinimide in the mornings underneath my moisturizer and sunscreen. As I said before it’s kind of overwhelming! I live in Florida and love the beach and pool. I want the biggest bang for my buck and easiest routine. Can you give me advice on a routine? What routine does your beautiful mother follow? Would love to stick with the Ordinary if possible. Thank you Gemma!

If I buy & use the 2 Ordinary products you recommend, the Argireline & the EUK 134, how do you mix the to mimic your other product that is pricey? Do you just mix a couple of drops on your fingers like I’ve been doing with the Niacinamide & Matrixyl? Or do you pour equal amounts into another bottle & mix it? Please let me know. Also, should I then not use the Niacinamide/Matrixyl combo I have been using both day & night (except when I’m applying my Tretinoin)? I appreciate the instructions!

My favourite vitamin C (not from TO) is C-glow from Geek and Gorgeus - it is 15%, with Ferulic acid and vitamin E. Much more affordable than the Skinceuticals 🙂
