Lowell George and Robert Palmer are jamming in the next life, and it's tight.
Indeed they are and what a jam that must be! 1st
Dang. That made me cry. Imagine those two... Heavenly, indeed
Saw Robert Palmer in 79. That medley is even better when you're sitting in the 15th row!!! The man had soul, funk and a sound like no other. Way ahead of his time. Missed greatly!
I agree! What a voice!
He really was ahead of his time ❤💔
Funk and soul, just like Eddie Kendricks had. A rare combo.
Dude was the TRUTH.
In my head, Robert Palmer is still alive!
His work and the love he put into it is still with us. I have such great love for this man and his music.
Is anybody dead when loved and remembered?
yes
My summer living at the1978. beach w so many fiends. This was SO big that summer.
Yes
Robert & his band were so funky & the music arrangements were built so tightly constructed
Our amazing robert...best music ever been listening since 1974 still seems lile yesterday...nothing can compete today r.i.p robert❤️
"Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley" -- one of my all-time favorite funk albums.
Absolutely fabulous!!💢👌🏾
a friend’s older sister had this record ive loved since then. also pressure drop❤
That cocaine tre looks fine
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Brewnoe , don’t forget this fact you can’t get it back !
I wish I was there. I am obsessed with this performance. Perfection from the beginning to the very end for over 9 minutes. Easy on ears and eyes, blue eyed soul - Robert Palmer.
Absolute mastery
💯❤️
One of few I didn’t get to see live that I really wanted to see live ! I was late to the game and still kick myself over it .
@@terryoquinn8199 I am still upset I had never seen RP live. It was something I had always planning but never had had happened. I am listening to his music daily now.
I hear ya Maria , I have a few others I missed seeing but all things considered , I did get to see a lot of the greats in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s . Nothing like it today for sure . I keep RP’s trilogy on my phone !
This man was an absolutely BRILLIANT musician. There are very few musicians who can sing LIVE like Robert Palmer could. He just had class......
Totally man! This video and his music is BRILLIANT!
Yorkshires finest.love this set.x
Up there with live at the Apollo Roxy music.x
🧡🧡🧡
no doubt, sang some hard tunes too, all 3 of these are hard, Trouble n Fine Time are 2 more, early stuff was incredible!
He was right on the money! Every freaking note in tune. Wow!! He sure made it look easy. Proof that it was legitimate soul singing from the heart.
Listen to every song in this man's collection. It is worth every minute.
Was my favorite album way back when. Funky meters NOLA Sprits live on!!!!!
Yes love the NOLA vibes
❤
Best medley ever
It truly is badass !
This is some Robert Palmer / Little Feet great stuff.
These have to be the three best put together songs to open any album. You can't go bad with NO Funk and Little Feat!
Yes! The flow from one song to the next is incredible.
Love dem Feats!
The phrasing on his Sneaking Sally really is an evolution of the song.
That solo is fiyah, too.
Should be on Addictions Vol 1.

In High School…. My girlfriends and I would say “Trying to talk double talk, get yourself in trouble talk” when someone was bullshiting with around about line of excuses.
And I used it a time or two !
I saw Robert Palmer live 6 times. Loved them all. This was in the Capitol Theatre New Jersey. I saw John Prime 8 times and Little Feat twice. I miss Robert Palmer and Lowell George both.😎
Wow! So impressed, wish I could say the same! 😍
I've always liked his albums, especially since he worked with Little Feat. But viewing this video shows that he was a great showman/frontman also.
Just finished working a 5k/10k road race in Asheville. The dj played an unrecognizable stream of autotune popstars singing uninspired drivel. Had to come home and fire up the time machine and journey back to when cars were identifiable and music truly moved you. I'll say it again---thank God for TH-cam. Not sure what I would do.
"...autotune popstars singing uninspired drivel..."...brilliant!
So true with few exceptions .
I was 22 then. Where did my life go ? One thing is great. I grew up with the best populair music possible. The list is just endless
Right there with you , 9-5-58 !
Same. Everything was so good back then. Being 22 was The Best- so much fun. I feel sorry for kids these days. They have to be so careful about everything. It's sad.
I am with you 9/22/59
@@hexabob57you are so right! I love the time I grew up!
Agree with all these replies ! Keep rockin dudes ! Jan. 1956
Man, I could listen to that bass player all night.
Mr. Pierre Brock. Tight backing vocals on Julia, especially.
the original recording had George Porter laying it down, an original Meters member!
Man I dig this so much. Sneaking Sally is bad ass! Also love his version of Little Feats Sailing Shoes. I could watch this over and over again. In fact I’m going to right now 💯❤️
“Up pops the queen.”
Robert Palmer is applauded, again again, again! Life is so stupendous living in this Tube!
RIP.... Best of the best LIVE performances
Leo Nocentelli playing his '76 Fender Starcaster. I got one (a reissue) because of him and his playing.
Bout to do a deep dive on him cuz his playing here is incredible, so clean and pro and just all over this medley. Excellent tone too dang
I took magic mushrooms and tried to sing Sneaking Sally Through The Alley the way Robert Palmer does. Scared the shit out of my cat.
Hahahaha love this I scare my cat dancing to it
@@sheriwilson5889 it was the "AAAARGH I've just been caught" but that really did it
Hahahaha🤣
I danced it out to “I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On” in front of my cats about three weeks ago. One of them got up and walked away.
scaredy cat
It's insane that Robert Palmer and Hughie Lewis and the News ARE NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
1000% agree!!
Unbelievable and of course add Little Feat !
And no Jethro Tull or Joe Cocker.
@@clafong9 But Dolly Parton is in? I love her, but really?
This album is criminally underrated except for the people who know it. I remember the first time I ever heard time. I listened to it over and over for like a week.I thought Sneaking Sally was a Phish song. Not to take anything away from mid-late 90s phish… But, this is waaaay funkier!
This brings back too many fond memories of a time long passed .
Absolutely..
You can't have to many fond memories. I know what mean tho.
In the wikipedia page, Robert Palmer and his early music was classified as "Blue Eyed Soul." Watching him here, you can see the soul comin' through. What a great singer! and what great band with him.
Criminally underrated. Just look at the view count! Thanks for posting. Loved every second of I t
Imagine being good enough as a singer that you can get the meters and Lowell to back you! They saw something!
Lol I bet I’ve watched it 100 times at LEAST!!
totally this is the nexus track
underrated is overratted
Awesome fella..rip.!?
Thank you, Allen Toussaint. RIP
R.l.P. Robert
What a truly amazing musician this man was. Thankful for what he left us and future generations. I pray this music never fades.
I saw him at a small venue when this album came out and he was FABULOUS!
You are truly fortunate and blessed. What I would give to have seen him!
I saw him at ... Wait for it ... 6 Flags Over Georgia . The Addicted to Love tour, second round.
Me too buddy. One of the best shows that I've ever seen. And I've been to a lot of shows. I'm from Philly. You know that ever great band and solo artist played the spectrum. And the Tower theater. And all the small clubs on south street and second Street
omg!
Love this, Robert Palmer, and especially w Lowell George!
Yes!! Love all RP’s work with Little Feat and LG! ❤️
My brother-in-law managed Little Feat. We saw them perform at the Troubador. We had VIP seats and Lowell came to say hello before the show. We gave him a list of all of our favorite songs and they played every single one of them for us. RIP Robert and Lowell.
@@garygruber1452 After Lowell passed and Little Feat got back together , nothing against Craig Fuller , Robert would have been a great replacement for Lowell .
@@bak-mariterry9143 you can’t replace Lowell George.
@@garygruber1452 I had a friend who introduced to Little Feats Time Loves a Hero in '78 when I was 17 and disco was the flavor of the day, I am eternally grateful for that introduction which opened up so many doors to non-am radio music for me.
His voice resonates in my heart ALWAYS!❤❤❤❤
i come back to this every few months. Absolutely one of the best live performances ever caught on film
Makes two of us. I am back to this medley at least once a month. My all time the best tune.
The absolute best use this Allen Toussaint song. A true production of New Orleans funk.
That's what I needed.
Leo Nocentelli on guitar from the Meters here.
I love Robert giving props to the backing musicians.
Thanks for sharing this, hadn't seen it before and love it.
1970s Robert Palmer is the best Robert Palmer.
DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn! dAmN
Robert Palmer is applauded, again, again, again, Life is so stupendous, living in this Tube.
Came here after Todd's video on the album Ringo the 4th. What a powerhouse of a performer! The entire band is fantastic and Sneakin Sally slaps. I just wish I had found it sooner
Me too! It's now in my monthly watch rotation!
I had just turned 21 when this happened ! WOW ! And again , WOW 🤩 ! What an absolute jam ! I listen to this all the time , never gets old .
Saw him way back in Towson State at general admission concert in Maryland and civic center same year. Wore a suit and had Little Feat back up members with him...smooth, cool, and talented.
I saw Robert Palmer at the then Civic Center back in 1977 or 78. I also saw Little Feat at Civic Center, when Lowell George was still alive. I believe Dan Seals opened for Little Feat. And you’re right Robert wore a suit and tie.
I am from Md ! My older sister was at these concerts!❤
Mr Plamer!
Thanks for everything you did and all those you borrowed/acknowledged. Sure would like to handle what's between your ears. I began to try to explain, fact is, Just been caught.
Nobody touched you then or since.
Legend.
I agree
Terry Reid?
Robert Palmer. Terry Reid. Paul Rodgers. All had great soul to their voices obviously but I think the magic came from their rhythm. 👌
Got to see Robert Palmer once what a singer. Great album a Lowell George song with Little Feat backing. Damn that's Music.
So underrated and underplayed. Much missed.
What a performer ! And that album, Robert Palmer with el Feat .... what more could you ask? Outstanding.
The only time I saw Robert Palmer Live was on this tour at Bill Graham’s club Wolfgang’s in San Francisco... he was magical!❤️
Totally underrated
Got this superb album in 1977. Still fabulous.
I didn't hear this until about 1987. Have loved it ever since.
Greatest medley ever!!!
This is the 70’s for me in a tube, kick ass musicians playing kickass songs.
This is essential listening for anybody who wants to play Rock & Roll.
Robert Palmer was Smooth. That is all.
What a singer he was!!!
Palmer knew Lowell and co and was dang near able to nail that vibe...honorary memory of the Feat.
Love the capt. Kirk shirt
i don't think he was aiming to cop the Little Feat sound, he did a variety of cool covers.. that band tho, dang - 355
I think he most certainly was trying to grab their vibe...all members including Lowell George were on RP first albums doing Lowell's songs...um doesn't that make my point...plus his old band Vinegar Joe was very Little Feat like...much later RP was all over the place stylistically
Missed by soooo many....
He was the best. Everyone knew it.
Yes sir. Everyone!
How could anyone remain seated for this?
I saw him and Elkie Brooks in Vinegar Joe at Ally Pally in 74. Top Man.
Have the album. Love it!
Why did I play this before bed ? Im ready to boogie now 🕺🕺
I bought this album when it came out 50 years ago which seems like not such a long time ago. I still have it and love it. It's impossible to sit still while it's playing.
Robert Palmer doing Lowell George and Alan Toussaint songs - It gets gets no better-- Great Groove
Just a wonderful arrangement!
Always one of my favs! RIP Robert Palmer
No one else but Robert could pull this off!! 🌹
Love this!
Wow. What a great find this is. Thanks for posting. Long live Robert Palmer's music!!
Fabulous ❤❤❤❤❤
Love, love, love this… a genius with a voice!
Feb 2, 2025 rest in peace Robert If there’s a rock and roll heaven…better recording than on utube music.
I am simply blown away having not known about Robert Palmers OH SO SWEET 🎶 musical Past!
So bummed I never experienced him live... especially Right in this Setting 🎶🤌🏼🎶🙌🏼🎶💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
R.I.P. Rob 💫✨⚡️✨💫 The Heavens are Happy With You 🙏🏼
In 1977, Robert Palmer was opening act for Bob Welch, mick Fleetwood, et al at Auburn University. Palmer stole the show.Fantastic performance! Made me a fan for life. Gone way too early.
Saw him in Tucson Arizona Simply Irresistible opening for Robert Cray ! OMG ! Centennial Hall Tucson Arizona
Never heard this before, I'm used to hearing his '80s hits. Great stuff here.
His first album is absolutely amazing. A New Orleans funk masterpiece.
From his first solo album...which he recorded in New Orleans with members of the Meters and Little Feat. Allen Tousaint producing. Brilliant!!!
there is only one guy in the whole wide world that could look so cool in that 'garb'....i mean if anyone else had given that performance they would have pissed themselves with awesomeness and it would have showed on those slacks....robert palmer, one helluva guy and straight up cool to the end...magnifique r.i.p
How come all the good ones are taken before their time?
wow thanks for posting this, awesome!!!
Simply Wicked!
Still my favorite song. Sneaking Sally Through the Alley
Grooves so hard. Love this so much!!
Thought I had heard nearly everything out there, then stumbled across “Sneakin’ Sally…” and it blew my mind!
Superb performance, band and all. RIP Robert.
Fenomenaal!!!! I love it so !!!🕯
Absolute genius, in my opinion.
Why? Gets down to the soul, my friend.

L-O-V-E Robert Palmer❤️
2024 still jamming to this. I named my youngest after his Julia.
That's dedication
@williamhilinsky1327 I remember when he was in Nola recording some of the songs. I love the funk. I still haven't found a man that can handle what's between my ears 🤣
Soulful voice...just incredible!
What an incredible voice i love it so much!
Went to Wishbone Ash in the Kinetic Playground in ‘73…Barnstorm (Joe Walsh post James Gang)…and the opening band was Vinegar Joe… what a treat to see Robert Palmer in his early days !!!
that is some funky shit right there.
