A half-barrier crossing located just on the edge of Petersfield in the South Downs, one of two you'll find (along with the one in Sheet) within half a mile of each other on the Portsmouth Direct Line in this area, with Petersfield Station and its busy level crossing not too much further south either. A rather lengthy road closure was planned at this level crossing not too long before these videos were filmed, which was highly expected to be a full renewal here. However, the date of filming was around two weeks after the road was meant to re-open, and this level crossing lives to fight another however long in this half-barrier guise, most likely as it was deferred, or for something else entirely to happen. It's still quite a unique level crossing as it not only has the old and now rare Mk.1 twin-arm 'penguin' half barriers, but also has two different kinds of alarm at it - a Clifford & Snell 'Yodalarm' and an E2S 'Appello' alarm! As shown in this video, one barrier seems to lack hydraulic pressure and frequently has to be corrected to prevent it falling on a car or unsuspecting pedestrian / cyclist.
The line's entire off-peak service within the space of an hour is featured in this video, with additional appearances being made by one of numerous leaf-busting Rail Head Treatment Trains and an Empty Coaching Stock unit transfer from Woking to Southampton via Guildford and Havant. The former was operated by one of numerous Windhoff 'Multi Purpose Vehicle' trains and blasts the rails clean of slippery fallen leaves and their contamination with 1,500 bar (21,755psi) jets of water - strong enough to cut through the steel of the rails themselves if left operational for too long with the train stationary! Works here have cleared a lot of vegetation, meaning that the view towards Sheet Level Crossing (seen in the distance) from the down (Portsmouth-bound) side is better than ever here. I took advantage of this by zooming in on the first train and the MPV.
This level crossing is due for a full renewal and conversion to a full-barrier level crossing with Obstacle Detection later this year (2024).

Thank you very much! Same here. Very few have an E2S / Yodalarm combination.

Great video and crossing! Love how well you can see the nearby crossing there at the moment. Looks like at least one of the Keep Crossing Clear signs there is a bit newer?

Great video! Shame there is an e2s alarm there. When will it be upgraded?

I think it goes quite well with the Yodalarm which was installed to actually replace an Appello back in 2019 tbh. Thanks by the way!

It's only a mile or so up the road from that one pretty much. Literally just on the edge of Petersfield.
