Thanks for the information. I have the TAKSTAR SGC-598 and I just have never been able to get good audio. It might be because I have tried it 1) mounted on the camera 3 or more ft away or 2) with a 6 ft audio cable. Your video gives me some things to try, but I am not sure the TAKSTAR is the best fit for my talking head type videos.
what cheap dead cat model is it the one you mentioned? I love the deity, but wind rejection is pretty poor, do you think the other dead cat makes it better?
I’m traveling right now so I can’t be sure, but I think it’s the Movo WS4. I don’t think I ever compared it with the stock deadcat on the D4. I just needed something to use on the MKE-600.
Nice to see that the Sennheiser can be externally powered with phantom power. Can the Deity D4 also get its power through USB-C when hooked up to a computer, or does it always need the battery? Considering getting the Deity as a multipurpose mobile + desktop mic but if it requires a battery while plugged into a computer then that makes the desktop use case much less practical.
Hmm, that's a good question! I haven't tried pulling the battery out. Since you can't charge the D4 via USB, I would assume not. I'll have to try it and report back. Watch this space...
Hi Chris. I am truly shocked but the Deity D4 WILL WORK WITHOUT A BATTERY! When it's plugged into a USB port, the led light lights up and I'm showing signal on my computer. I am very surprised. And that's good news for you!
@@MatthewHaines Thanks for the update! I was leaning towards the Rode VideoMic Go II largely because it doesn't need a battery at all, but I really liked that the Deity D4 includes all the cables and deadcat and has the hardware gain knob. Being able to operate without a battery while connected to a computer probably tips the scales in Deity's favor...
Thanks for the comparison.
glad you found it helpful, and thanks for watching!
What a fantastic comprehensive review. Thank you so much for your time to put this together.Liked and subscribed!!!
Thanks, Roman! I'm glad it was helpful!
This video is a prrof that the MKE600 is worth every penny. Good I have one.
Agreed!

I'm glad you found the other video!
I think I might go with the takstar it's really affordable and sounds pretty good
The takstar is certainly usable!

@@MatthewHaines thank you for your reply! If you'd remember in the future, let me know please 😃 bon voyage
@@hicetnunc_ It was the Move WS4. But it's too long for the D4 unfortunately.

Diety is so good but I'm always looking for something cheaper
Makes sense!
