@Maatthew : Thank you for this valuable information . I have one question …while I was Live Streaming Our Church Sermons from OBS Studio with Focusrite Audio Interface and Allen & Heath Digital Mixer ,I always noticing some Audio Disconnection Issues ,could you please advise on it.
Without being there, I can't really say for sure. But it's more likely something to do with OBS and/or your internet and streaming connections than the Allen&Heath board. Unfortunately, I had to return the demo CQ-12 when I was done reviewing it. You might want to check with A&H tech support if you think it's the mixer that's causing the problem.
Great video! Quick question: On their website they say the HP out impedance is under 10Ohms, Id like to use my 32Ohm HP but if the impedance is more than 5Ohm thats out of the question?
@MatthewHaines "Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it! I’m considering the sE Electronics sE2200 as well and wondering if it’s a good choice for my setup. Have you tried it, or do you have any thoughts on it?"
I'm setting up a home studio and looking for recommendations for both an audio interface and a microphone. I’m aiming for high-quality recordings and want something suitable for a beginner. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I would choose the SRI-2 over the Focusrite for the metering. I really find the single multicolor LED system of the Focusrite annoying. Having proper meters allows more precision. Both units will sound very clean and have enough gain for your needs. As for mics, it depends on your price range. For
Does the same company have one with more inputs ? What interface has more inputs for recording electronic and acoustic drums ? Plus vocals and other instruments with good sound quality and ease of use. At a fair price. Up to maybe a thousand dollars or less.
So, compere to my 15 year old AudioBox. It has just second monitor output, even without separate monitor output control. And you telling about direct mix as a feature? It's not a feature, it just must be. It have no even midi. I so like when other company make just generic audio interface, without the idea. For what? Just to oversaturate market?
Most interfaces in this price range don't have a continuously variable direct mix control. Yes, the Audiobox does have it. The Scarlett doesn't, the Universal Audio Volt1 doesn't. Yes, all interfaces need to have direct monitoring as well as playback monitoring. I agree, that's a "must be" as you put it. That and the switching between two monitor pairs are two features that set this apart from other interfaces in this price range.
It has USB-B and Micro USB? Oh I see this is a 6 year old audio interface... and only 40db of mic gain, so most dynamic mics will be too quiet on it...
@@MatthewHaines Your mic looks like a Sontronics HALO... or is it a Corona? Anyhow, it kind of looks like you've had to talk really close to the mic to get useable signal from the mic with the Fluid Audio SRI-2... I would disagree that the preamp on this unit has "plenty of gain"... a -50db sensitivity dynamic mic you're using is one of the most sensitive dynamic mics available. Compare that to Shure SM58 at -54.5db, SM7B at -59db, RE20 at -56.5db... none of these would work to get useable signal with the SRI-2's preamp.
Great Video but you should work on your mic quality. It really doesn't sounbd pleasing to the ear (way too much low end which results in a muddy sound) Also you should use a popfilter. All the plosives in this video were kinda annoying to be honest.

I use a pair of 32 ohm headphones and they work just fine! Thanks for watching.

@@bigfoodkevi8986 Yes, SE2200 is an excellent mic as well! It's a definite upgrade from the X1A.
@@MatthewHaines Thank you🫡
So this interfaces is better then the scarlett 4gen? I need something that can give a great quality?

The Scarlet uses JRC2122 and NJM8088 op amps which are low ball to say the least.

They don’t have a model with more inputs. But check out the review I did of the Allen and heath CQ12T! It might be what you’re looking for.
What's the round trip latency with a 128 sample buffer@48k?
Excellent question!
This from Fluid Audio:
Measured with Oblique Audio RTL utility with latest drivers on Windows 11 x64:
32bit depth
44.1k 256 buffer: 17,12ms
44.1k 128 buffer: 10.2ms
44.1k 64 buffer : 6.87ms
44.1k 32 buffer : 6.2ms
48k 256 buffer: 16.52ms
48k 128 buffer: 9.88ms
48k 64 buffer : 6.62ms
48k 32 buffer : 6.0ms
I don't think you need to speak so close to that mic. It sounds too boomy from the proximity effect. Also, what is compressing so much
I was using a new mic (which I have subsequently reviewed) and it turns out to be a little tricky to use. Thanks for the feedback.

I used a dynamic mic on this review and had no level problems. I mentioned that in the review.
