Why do TH-camRS say they're not getting paid for the review, well you have been GIFTED the item, which has a monetary value so you have technically been paid $130.00 At the end of the review you should send the item back if you want to officially say you haven't been paid. TO BE HONEST the best reviewers are the ones that REFUSE to accept gifts, goods, bribes, cash and PAY for the item out of their own pocket. There's a travel guy who travels the world of FIRST CLASS planes and luxury Cruises and Trains and HE PAYS FOR EVERYTHING HIMSELF and TURNS DOWN every freebie as it goes against his principles. NOW THAT'S "A NOT GETTING PAID" reviewer!! Your video is basically an ADVERT and should STATE it's an advert.
I appreciate your concern. For low-priced items such as wireless mics, the manufacturers typically do not want them back. It's not worth them paying for the return shipping. I often have to return larger items. I have probably ten wireless mic sets in my closet, some of which I didn't review because they were pretty bad. Giving me something free does not mean I'm going to give it a favorable review. Just look at my Deity D4 review or my Icon/Harrison mixer review...those reviews were balanced, mostly positive but exposed flaws. Those companies will barely speak to me now. Right now I make about $150 per month from TH-cam. If manufacturers didn't send me things, I wouldn't be able to afford to review anything. But free stuff is not in itself all that exciting. Certainly not exciting enough to get me to lie about my thoughts on it.
@@MatthewHaines Appreciated, but you should clearly state that it's a PROMOTED ITEM eg an advert. Whether you got it free or they paid you it's a PAID FOR PROMOTION as you got an ITEM in lieu of payment.
It comes with a step up ring 43 to 52 mm, but with a clear filter. Is there a way to remove the clear filter so that I can use a 52 mm variable ND filter? If not, do you know of a 43 to 52 step up ring that will work given the very bulbous lens? Thanks.
The clear filter will remove from the step-up ring, and the step-up ring will remove from the lens itself. You can always stack step-up rings to get your ND filter away from the lens surface, if the inside is too close to the lens.
Excellent review, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Its crazy heavy.
That it is!
Thank you, Sir. That was very helpful!
I’m glad to hear it! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the vid. Helped me decide on returning the DCM 3 for the DCM 6 instead since I have a weaker 48v phantom power mixer. I love it for the sound quality and "flatness" of the sound. If I´m asked to pick on anything with it -I noticed one possible smaller issue, sometimes parts of a word sound "digital" as if it's briefly a lower bitrate and gets digitally distorted, I noticed it in a few words when you talk now, I thought it was just because of youtube converting the sound of your video, but now that I have the DCM 6 myself I noticed the exact same thing in some of the words. It´s not very pronounced, but still, sometimes noticeable if you really listen for it.
Hmm, that has me very curious! Can you identify a particular part in the video where you hear it?
@@MatthewHaines Sure: 00:00 - on the "ai" sound of H(ai)nes. 00:16 - the word "one". 00:20 - there is a lingering digital typ sound at the end of the word "boost". 00:23 - "un" part in the word (un)powered, sounds digitized 00:29 - the word "advantages" sounds as if it was a bit compressed, if that makes sense. 00:39 - the word "that´s" sounds digitized. 00:54 - the words "on these" float into each other. 1:24 - the word "filter" sounds digitized. 1:37 - the letter "b" in "d(b)v" souds digitized. 1:43 - the letter "s" in "(s)m7b" sounds digitized. 2:36 - the word "voice" sounds digitized. 2:24 - the word "great" has an added digitized effect somewhat. 4:15 - the words "I´m gonna do" sounds a bit digitized. 4:17 - "boom" in "(boom)arm" sounds digitized. 4:40 - the word "lean" sounds digitized. 5:15 - the word "probably" sounds digitized. I´ve also noticed the same type of things in my own test recordings with the mic today. Now to me these are quite minor things and I still love this microphone and will be keeping it, as I feel it gives comparable sound to microphones two-three times the price.
@@swedishprepper775 Thank you for that detailed list! I've listened to both my original 4k video render and also the TH-cam version, and I'm not hearing it. perhaps it has something to do with your playback setup? (Or maybe you can hear subtitles that I can't! 🤷♂)
@@MatthewHaines Thank you so much for checking. If you can't hear it that is actually good, then I won't have to worry about people hearing it when I talk.
I need a mic for singing. I have a scarlet but I’m struggling to find the right mic to work🤕
What have you tried so far? What didn't you like about them?
In the Max and Mega the same thing? Don’t some models not have internal recording? Great video review. Thank you!
Both of this models have internal recording. The difference between Max and Mega is small: basically, the Mega has a charging case and magnetic clips, the Max doesn't.
Uhhhhmmm was II the only one who heard no difference?
It helps to be wearing headphones so you can hear the low end.
2 simple words - “Thank you!”
You're very welcome! And thanks for watching!
Fascinating! Does it have mix-minus for remote guests and zoom calls?
You can set up different mixes for each of your outputs, so yes, you can create a mix-minus setup. A&H asked for the unit to be returned after my review, so I can't test it. Do a search on TH-cam and there are several tutorials about how to set that up.
@@MatthewHaines thanks!
Appreciated your review. After 3 years, I've misplaced my Sennheiser MKE200 and will either replace it like for like or pick up the Deity D4 Mini. The Sennheiser, in real world use, is actually a really good little mic. The blimp design is clever, though I tended to leave the deadcat on all the time. The bigger MKE400 is better (I have 2 of those as my main powered on-camera mics), but I had good results with the MKE200. All of the ones that you reviewed have very short interference tubes, so their off-axis low frequency performance is inherently not great. This means having a real low roll off is a bit of a negative, actually. You want off axis lower frequencies like air movement, HVAC equipment, traffic rumble, etc. to not have any help and the directionality of a short shotgun doesn't exclude super well. You may have made a case for the Deity to me. Cheers.
I’m glad you found the review helpful. I totally agree about the off-axis performance. It’s a trade-off that comes with these mini shotguns. Thanks for your thoughtful reply, and for watching!
Dude, your channel will be huuuge one day. Very well!!!
Thank you! Comments like yours keep me going. :)
How can I play-back recorded audio? Without connecting it to any other device. It is stored onboard, right?
The audio files are stored inside the transmitter. You need to plug it in to a computer via usb and it shows up like a thumb drive. You copy them over to wherever you need them. It doesn’t play the audio through a speaker or output jack.
Thanks! Helped me out with picking out a microphone!
I'm glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching.
@ I ended up buying it today, and your video was my final decision. You are an amazing person, and your review was amazing!
Was the audio in this video raw? Just picked up the microphone and running through an Audient ID4 and this mic sounds very thin.
The only processing I did was add some limiting to make it suitable for TH-cam. No EQ whatsoever. Maybe it's defective?
@ plugged it into a usb 3.0 and that seemed to fix the issue so far! :)
Super review :)
Thank you 😃
Mine was $22.09 shipped, including tax via B&H flash sale. The design and build quality are fantastic!
That's a great deal! I think they're closing out the model because I've seen these flash sales happening over the last few months. It's well worth even the original price.
The only Benefit i see in these Props is like u said the color. So u can add some differnt colors in front and back for orientation. But did i saw a Prop Wobble in the Front right at 4:04 ? Thanks for this cool review👍
Yes you did see a prop wobble. :) When I was editing the video, I noticed it too and then re-seated the prop. It didn't change the sound at all. Thanks for watching!
Is this also good for casual music listening? Any chance you can compare it to other popular cans like the hd600?
Hi! Yes, these would be great for casual listening. I have not had a chance to compare them to the hd600 though.
They have a cat AND a magnetic pop filter at the site. The company is the same team behind the expensive Soyuz mics, so the technology is innovative and solid.
They sure do! But as I mentioned in the video, the dead cat they sell doesn’t do a good job. I didn’t get a magnetic pop filter so I have no opinion on that.
@@MatthewHaines I'm going to have to grab one, although my other pop filters work just fine. Thanks for your videos.
Hangisi daha iyi sizce ? 30 un reddi daha iyi deniliyor
Frekans tepkisi açısından 40'ı daha çok seviyorum. İzlediğiniz için teşekkürler!
Good demo of each microphone. The E-40 did OK on the foam-cover plosive test - even though you shouted louder doing it than the other tests! Oops! :-) Parenthetically, plosives are no big deal if you employ good mic technique. That is why even high grade condenser mics have exposed capsules like the E-40. Why wonder if they each have the capsule? Open them up and look! By the way, you would gain greater credibility if you called it a capsule. The diaphragm is the membrane that vibrates inside the capsule. Just a friendly serving suggestion. I purchased my E-40 for $20 (including shipping) from B&H Photo in NY. Crazy cool, eh? Essentially the same capsule as all those cheapo BM-700/800s, but a WAY BETTER mic body, stand, shock mount system, and it looks cool (I think) - adding the high pass filter and attenuator pad - sounds way better than the BM-800 for same price. Did I mention, crazy? Thanks for the video - nice job - definitely demos them both fairly and your high pass filter demo is one of the rare ones in TH-cam that actually reveals a difference! Bonus points for that. Happy days old man. TT
I'm glad you found the video helpful. And good point about the plosives and the mic technique!
Your footage and editing looks excellent. Are you getting that bokeh with the ZV1? Brendan in Dublin Ireland
Thanks! Yes, that's the ZV-1 wide open. Looks pretty good for a small-format camera.
Doubtful, that I would describe those lines as "straight" ??
Straighter than the alternative!
I have the Lauten and love it on voice and up to 4 feet away from a guitar cab. I'd rather the box wasnt card, its a good card, but is unlikely to last as long as a hard case imvho. The shock doesnt let me in close enough to the speaker dustcap for my liking, but then many condensers are worse at that. Its got that u87 feel and weight in your hand, but without the price or the extra patterns.
I agree withe verything you said! I haven't miced a guitar cab with it but I could see that being an issue. Havina cutout on the shockmount is good, but it could be deeper. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great in depth review 👏
Thanks for watching!
which one is better for singing se2300 or la-220
Hi and thanks for your comment. Keep in mind this is the sE2200, not the 2300. Both mics are great for vocals. The 2200 is a bit more flat while the LA-220 is a little more 'scooped' (slight boost in lows and highs). I like how the LA-220 rejects plosives a little more, but that won't be a problem for either with pop filters and proper mic technique. If you're recording instruments as well, then the 2200 gives you pad options. The LA-220 gives you additional frequency sculpting. So...it depends! I'd be happy with either.
I feel like sim racing product review channels do pretty ok." Boosted Media" is a good example. It depends on the product, I guess,...A microphone is a microphone (I know it's a horrific simplification) , but it's not a "dream product", if you get what I mean. Most bikers for example will watch motorcycle reviews even though they already own a bike and are not in the market for a new one. They like looking at new bikes, learning about them and maybe dream of owning them some day. Same with sim racing. High end sim racing products are extremely expensive and desirable. People upgrade all the time, change their setup or just like to be informed about what's going on in the marked,...and if someone is a good reviewer (which many people are not) they can get successful even with a niche set of products.
You raise a good point, and it’s perhaps something I didn’t address enough in the video. Aspirational reviews are more a form of entertainment for many, rather than actually being used for buying decisions. Which could make them have bigger appeal. High-end and highly-customizable products would fit this category. And yes, there are people who dream of owning high-end microphones as well. 😉 Thank you for your insightful comment.
@@MatthewHaines Yeah, I'm sure there are people who dream of owning a high end microphone,...there are also people who dream of owning a 18th century wind mill. Have you seen any vastly successful windmill channels lately? You touched a good point. Entertainment is the key word here.
This is great! Do you have any tips for how I can do this with a significant physical distance between the mixer and the PC? Thanks
As far as I know, the only way to connect would be through usb cable. Check with their customer service though. Here very good and might have another answer.
@@MatthewHaines Thanks, also, I'm not sure if you mentioned it in the video, but if I record to a daw via USB B (multi track) does that give me a post fader mix or is it also still based on the source point selected?
@@CinderB You can choose to send pre or post-fader to your DAW. 👍
Which Ones the better option the NEEWER CM28 or the ULANZI AM18? if anyone used it feel free to leave a review as well of either of these
I haven’t tried the Ulanzi but I really like the CM28. Still my top pick.
What is the boom stand/arm attachment you have?
I don't recommend the boom arm I used in this video. I much prefer the Mackie DB-200 boom arm, which I now use all the time.
nice review . tnx
Thanks for watching!
How did you get it to record internally? what buttons do you press to make it happen? This was very informative by the way, thank you!
You hold the yellow noise-cancellation button down for a couple of seconds on the transmitter. One of the lights will start blinking red. Thanks for watching!
Whoops, sorry, wrong wireless system. You press and hold the 'gain' button for 2 seconds to start recording.
This is why I went for Rode procaster. Thanks for the video, very informative.
Glad you found the video helpful!
Hey did you process the vocal? It sounds great when you're up close and I wondered if you had to EQ it.
No EQ! The only processing I do on videos is adding a limiter to level it out for YT. Perhaps you're hearing the proximity effect as I get closer to the mic.
I wouldn't dismiss that ADAT so quickly. you can pick up a Behringer ADAT x8 pre unit (midas preamps, the xenyx pres are trash, but the midas ones are actually really good) and you've got yourself anothe 8 channels to go for the keyboard rack or drumkit or whatever.
Yes, that's true. But it does require extra gear, so the unit is not inherently 10 or more tracks. Thanks for your comment.
I just purchased a Teerok T18S. I am happy however - Since it’s initial release (for $70!) the micro SD card has been removed and a different APP has been put in place. It’s still an incredible GPS drone for the price but like most things Chinese manufactured it’s always subject to change. Regardless of the revisions, I would still give it a pretty easy 5 out of 5 stars. It does everything advertised probably exceeding expectations the way it handles.
That's awesome! Sounds like you got a great deal for the features it offers. I haven't tried that model myself.
Perfect timing! Most of the reviews I find are from years ago, been looking on this used market and these go for a decent price.
Yeah they’ve been around awhile. Good mics!
Incredible and insightful video. Looking forward to more like this 💪 thanks for keeping music applications in mind
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
nice closing music
Music is by Heyson. One of my favorite artists on Epidemic Sound.
I think boya is better among all
I agree!
What would you say is fuller and warmer king bee 2 or cad? I put in headphones and thought the cad was a bit cruncher but neat warmer and the fullness I cant tell too much cause like you said they sound so different with one being a little brighter. Just wondering if my observations are accurate to another ear.
Thanks for your comment. I find the King Bee II to have a brighter high end. I think the CAD is a warmer, more rounded tone. But the King Bee is not missing any low end, that's for sure.
Its self oscillating right ?
I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise!
I have an SSL 12 which is great but it has no way of adding effects, comp or reverb etc, pre DAW. Maybe SSL will add VST slots to its software later. 🤔
That would make for an impressive upgrade!
I have the same ones you guys have the white ones want to upgrade
Is there something you don’t like about them?
The industry is sleeping, since these days people dont make music like real music, they copy or plqgiqrize, many use samples, loops, some just edit eveything with a mouse tying divers stuffs together, maybe that is why no company cares to make a machine like this with recording and editing multitrack, they we must use the traditional computer and DAW. i COULD MAKE MILLIONS Bringing back hardware studio in a box with pro level ins and out. But we still in a better stone age, where are the flying cars I thought would here by now, we still use cables and oh they are annoying, so, tech is very backward with music industry, mobile tech has gone far ahead. What a shame
Thank you for your comment. You’ve given me a lot to think about.
Has anyone been getting noise or phantom power issues when recording on the CQ?
I heavenly heard anything, but perhaps another user will chime in.
The ear pads come off and they sell 3rd party ear pads I use wicked cushion
