0:49 "with my wife's own money" Well said. My wife bought me this for Christmas. The sound, especially in your studio, is solid, are you doing anything to the audio in the edit, if so can you share the details? Thanks and great video here. Overly impressed for someone with 834 subs, well, 835 now with me. Keep up the great work man!
Thanks so much for the kind words Tucker! I truly appreciate the sub. Because this was a review, I didn’t do anything to the audio in the edit. What you hear is exactly how it was recorded. My studio does have a good amount of sound treatment, so that probably helps a bit. Hope you enjoy the M2, they are GREAT mics!
@@mattliller thanks for the engagement. Odd question, when I have it set to green (mono) it comes through in stereo and when I have the blue lights on it only provides one channel (only hear it in one ear).
WOW! Fantastic review! I had already purchase it before I came across your review, but you totally confirmed my confidence that I purchased the right wireless mic for me--and I agree the combo is the way to go for flexibility in devices being used. Thank you and again, so well done!
I bought the Lark M2 for PC use since I was moving away from a traditional headset to IEMS and I didn't want a mic on a boom arm. They did pick up some peripheral noise, might not help that I have a noisy mechanical keyboard, but using software can solve this for you, I'm using NVIDIA Broadcast to solve this for me. All in all it was a great purchase.
Great review mate, I use the rode mic NTG and was considering this for an easier life and a bit of freedom, but after watching your review I've realised I'm likely best sticking with what I have! Keep up the good work 👌
Nice, clear, description and explanation of the stem and who it's best suited to. I've watched a number of videos related to this product and none of them address the question if two recordings can be made simultaneously eg. Record one mono channel on your DSLR and a second on your cell phone. Is it possible to record separate channels on different devices? Thanks for your time detailing the M2 and hopefully being able to answer my question. 📸🌞
Great review. Most of the reviewers say things that go way over my head. I want to know the basics. Tried to click on your link to buy but unfortunately, the link doesn't work in my Canadian Amazon account
Love the Video, I was very impressed with the long range and clarity of this mic, I will say the noise cancellation feature of this mic you can tell the filter cuts some of the clarify out. One question, I noticed that during your video at least once, your camera zoomed in a little, focus was good, was zoom done live with remote or just during editing, thanks again.
I’m not a big fan of the noise cancellation feature, but it would work in a pinch. The zooms were done in the edit - a nice touch to draw emphasis to that particular dialogue.
@@mattliller thank you once again, my new account just subbed you, I'm excited to make my first video. You deserve a lot more success, I know you will get there, last question, i noticed chapters and thumbnails for them, is chapters done during upload of video to youtube?
I absolutely loved the way they sound! However I had to return mine. The magnets on both receivers fell off on first use. I was so confused. Not sure if it’s happened to anyone else? Either way the few minutes I had them where amazing lol
Awesome video! I haven’t played with the volume settings yet but think they recorded on high and could hear it peak! Will try to set it to medium or even low! Which setting were you using??
I think it’s best to put the mic gain on high, and play with the in-camera gain setting. I think my in-camera gain (Sony FX30) was on level 10 or 12, so roughly half.
Hi Matt I thought I would comment on your latest video, after looking into lens, I thought 18mm-50mm was enough however I want the camera a little close but still wide , however without distortion or Fisheye feel, some like 10-12mm APS-C, is there ant Prime or variable lens you could recommend, thanks, p.s. cant wait for your video about lens. I realized sometimes you need a specific lens for your environment. In my case I do not have a Full sensor, so its more like 1.5x the size of the lens.
There are a number of lenses, both prime and zoom, exactly in the ranges you mentioned. Check out the channel Mark Bennett’s Camera Crisis. He has a ton of in-depth review videos about these lenses.
Wow you updated your profile logo and header, nice work!! I finished mine after 5 revisions, I have yet another question, some people use KEYWORDS with # in description area and some don't put anything there, what is your opinions about using keywords or not? thanks
Great video, thank you! Could you share your experience with the audio effects/plugins you used in editing to make it sound better? I got these and out of the box recording doesn't sound as good as it does in this video. I use FCPX, tried messing around with 'Channel EQ' and 'Adaptive Limiter' which have helped a bit (although the 'Compressor' effect made things worse). Any advice??
Thanks for the kind words. I actually didn’t use any audio processing or effects in this video, because I wanted to give a true representation of what the mics sound like. However, I also use FCPX and really love the voice isolation feature at 15-20 percent to enhance the audio.
@@mattliller hmm I see, that's good to know then. When recording my latest video I used the mics in noise cancelling mode, I wonder if that made any difference. To confirm, in this video you didn't use noise cancelling and just the 'out of the box' settings??
@@SahandHooshmand Yes, I used all default settings except for the outdoor portion where you see me turn noise cancelling on. Frankly, I wouldn’t use the noise cancellation feature on the mics very often, as you can see in real time it degrades the quality of my voice as soon as it’s turned on. Doing the work in post is way better.
I imagine it will be quite a while before the batteries have any problems, but to answer your question directly, it would not be cost effective to try to replace the batteries (to the extent replacement is even possible). The price has actually dropped in the last few months, and by the time (years down the road) if these batteries decline, I imagine they’ll be even better options at that time.
Great review, thank you. Question for you on the mic gain dial. I recently purchased the Lark M2 combo and noticed the dial on the receiver to turn the gain turns very easily. I find myself changing the gain unknowingly. Is your unit the same way? Mine still clicks as you turn, but there is substantial play between clicks. Curious if this is normal or if I need to exchange mine. I haven't seen anyone comment on this in other reviews.
Great point and question. Yes, I’ve had the same issue with the camera receiver, and I’ve unknowingly recorded at the lower levels. Double checking the gain dial is now on my list before pressing record.
If you’re truly happy with the C1, there’s certainly my nothing wrong with rolling with it. The M2 does have a longer transmission distance if that matters to you, but I think the (much) smaller round compact design is cream of the crop.
They’re really for different use cases. I suppose technically the Q2U sounds “better” for talking, but that’s if you want a podcast-type sound. The Lark M2 sounds more natural and is more convenient.
@@mattliller I want to get m2 but also want to sound like podcast. Like a bit heavy voice, I don’t know that we call it in technical word. But i like a bit heavy voice not a thin one. Can i achieve that heavy voice in m2 via some editing? Your samson q2u video voice sounds amazing. And when i checked reviews of other creators for samson they didn’t sound great. I guess you are also good at editing. It would be helpful If you can share how you achieved that sort of voice
@@ca.asthavijjan Actually, neither my Q2U video nor the M2 video have any audio processing or editing, as one of the points was to show what the mics sound like. However, how a particular mic sounds is very dependent on the speaker’s voice, and it’s very possible that my voice can sound good on one mic and bad on another. Good or bad, we just have to try different mics to see which works better for us.
A review done the right way!
Using the mic from the beginning
Abandoning useless unboxings
Thank you!!!
Thanks, that means a lot!
Keep up the grind bro I see huge potential
Truly appreciate that
