With practice and patience it's possible to learn any skill, including painting backgrounds! Copying photos of nice places is a really good practice for that for example
You are certainly not alone. Most of my ideas come when I am trying to sleep and its like... when one hits... its like a dam has broken. I have to write it down so I don't forget them all, because I will. However, I would rather be kept up with creativity than when it turns against me. However, I really enjoy the stories you tell through your artwork. I would love to do the same one day.

@@Ariabba The beauty of google docs.. :D Although I have to admit reading the notes the following day can be amusing lol! Oh, when I mean creativity turning against me. I mean more along the lines of the negative thoughts that can come with insomnia.. With an overactive mind and imagination it can be a beautifully creative place or a dark and hindering one.
Oh yes I completely understand what you mean, I've been there!! I've never found a solution to that and sometimes I'm just staying awake for hours. To this day the only thing I do is resign and crawl to the kitchen to eat a cookie 😅

I use Procreate on the iPad pro! Sometimes I use Krita on pc
