This line-up of Rainbow features the legendary Ronnie James Dio on vocals - he went on to sing with Black Sabbath and have a highly successful solo career. He is considered by many to be the archetypal Metal singer and is without doubt one of the greatest ever. He also gave Metal its instantly recognisable hand gesture 🤘 RIP RJD 🤘🤘🤘
Awesome reaction. I don't think I've seen you two smile so much. Rainbow was one of the most talented bands ever. Blackmore's guitar and Dio's vocals are a powerhouse.
Welcome to Rainbow! One of my favorite bands with such great talent with Ritchie Blackmore (guitarist), Ronnie James Dio (Vocals), Cozy Powell (Drums), Jimmy Bain (Bass), & Tony Carey (Keyboard). Some considered them a super group because how legendary Blackmore, Dio and Cozy were. "Stargazer" is epic and some (like myself) see this as one of the best rock songs ever made. "Catch the Rainbow', "Gates of Babylon", "Temple of the King", "Man on the Silver Mountain", "Long Live Rock n Roll" and many other great song. They have live concert footage from the 1977 Munich concert which is exceptional. The songs "Mistreated", "Catch the Rainbow" & "16th Century Greensleeves" really shine.
The Great,..late RONNIE JAMES DIO, Lead singer, with no classical training, could ALWAYS KNOCK THE VOCALS OUT OF THE PARK!!! HEAVEN'S HEAD BANGING!!! GOOD REACTION!!!
In the seventies you had several great guitar players like Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Alvin Lee and some such. But one stood above all the rest and that was Ritchie Blackmore. Played with Deep Purple until 1975 and then formed his own band Rainbow in 1975. "Stargazer" is from 1976's "Rainbow Rising".
The legendary British guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was a founder member of Deep Purple. He had the equally legendary singer Ian Gillan (see Child in Time) and when he left got David Coverdale (you've seen him on Still of the Night). After he left Purple he formed Rainbow (Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow) and had another singing genius Ronnie Dio (you've seen Stargazer). Try any Blackmore, Coverdale, Gillan or Dio - you will get quality.
Man he's 5"3 and that voice is insane he's a legend love the middle eastern sound good band love the 70s style too the singer dio is a good keep rocking
The guitar player (Ritchie Blackmore) was in Deep Purple together with the singer of Whitesnake (David Coverdale), who you reacted to yesterday. I recommend to listen to Mistreated, that you can hear from both singers, Coverdale with Deep Purple (California Jam) and Ronnie James Dio with Rainbow (Munich 1977).
Probably the best composition in the hard rock genre - ever. And the musicians are superb! I listen to this song at least once a day, because it gives me power and will to go on, with whatever I do. Thanks for the reaction and comments. I'm glad You liked it! If You need a suggestion to another song, try "Mistreated", with Rainbow, live from Munchen, same concert. Absolutely amazing voice there! 😍
Dio rules ! The greatest rock singer ever lived. I lo-lo-love him ! I guess you will also love the softer side of his voice (Touch the rainbow). Ritchie Blackmore on guitar ! A legend, formerly guitarrist of Deep Purple. Cozy Powell on drums. What a line up !
the rainbow lead guitarist was (ritchie blackmore) who was the lead guitarist in a band called (Deep purple). the singer who has sadly moved on, RIP named Ronnie James Dio was in a band previously called (Elf). to me he had an absolutely amazing voice. i have listened to loads of great guitarists and (my) 2 favourites are (ritchie blackmore) above & Dave gilmore out of Pink floyd. The singer Ronnie james dio was half italian & half american
His vocals were not only legendary, his song writing skillset were leagues above anyone who came before or after him! BTW Richie typically plays his solos using that Arabic scale. NOTE: The 2nd part of this song is entitled "A Light in the Black", check it out (Richie's solo in that session is mind blowing & of course Ronnie shines as always)…Thanks for the decades of memories Ronnie, and for you both for show-casing and appreciating the music we grew up on. Great Reaction
One of my absolute favorite band. I can't count the times I listened to their albums in my life. "One Stage" is the one of best live album ever in my opinion...and I do not even want to start talking about "Catch the rainbow" which is a phenominal song. There is a version in YT of "Still I am sad" which lasts for almost 30 minutes...
Ronnie James Dio. Words cannot describe what an amazing influence he had around the world. It's such a great loss to the world that Ronnie is no longer here, but his amazing voice will forever be cherished and enjoyed. ❤
I COME FROM ENGLAND AND I FOLLOWED THIS BAND. AFTER THE LEAD GUITARIST (RITCHIE BLACKMORE) LEFT (DEEP PURPLE) WHO WERE ENGLISH. RAINBOW WERE A (PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND). RONNIE JAMES DIO WAS (ONE) OF THE BEST VOCALISTS IVE EVER HEARD
You need to listen to A Light in the Black now, it’s the follow up to the story in this song and it rocks twice as hard as Stargazer….together they are perfect.
I found you via your Nightwish reactions & greatly enjoy you discovering the music I grew up on. FYI: Rainbow were formed by legendary guitarist Richie Blackmore in 1975 after he left Deep Purple. The singer is another rock legend, Ronnie James Dio. He sang for a band called Elf who a supported band for Deep Purple on Tour. Ronnie went on to sing for Black Sabbath, following the departure of Ozzy Osbourne, before forming his own band, Dio. Another long term member of Rainbow was yet another rock legend, drummer Cozy Powell. Richie Blackmore was known to be a perfectionist & hard task master, infamously sacking many band members, particularly bass players & keyboard players, so Rainbow's lineup was seldom stable. Unfortunately, Ronnie & Cozy have both passed away. I was lucky enough to see Rainbow when they headlined the first Monsters of Rock one day festival at Donnington, here in The UK in 1980 (The Scorpions & a very young Bon Jovi also played). Rainbow's lineup then was: Richie Blackmore (guitar), Graham Bonnet (Vocals), Cozy Powell (Drums), Don Airy (Keys) & former Deep Purple band mate, Roger Glover (bass).
RIP Ronnie James Dio, an iconic singer died way to early ❤️ Nice ti see you guys reacting to an other on my favorite bands, the other is Nightwish. This band also feature an iconic giutar player Richie Blackmore.
A bit late to the party here, but in case anyone is interested, the solo was performed in the B Phrygian dominant scale, which gives it that almost hypnotic Byzantine feel. Also, the solo mimics the story, with the long ascending part depicting the wizard climbing the tower, and ending with him falling to his death. Unbelievable.
Still one of the best songs and best rock albums of all time. Deep Purple Guitarist Ritchie Black ore founded this band as a solo project. He discovered one of the greatest rock vocalists Ronnie James Dio who later made a great career in Black Sabbath and his solo band Dio. You have already reacted to D’iOS vocals on Black Sabbath Die young, Heaven and Hell…
When I first listened to the album and this song in particular, I was somewhat ashamed that it took me more than 30 years to discover it. Although I know many people will disagree with me, I consider this the first true heavy metal album. All examples prior to this sound like me more like classic hard rock. This however feels like it ties old style music to modern heavy metal.
The song was all about an (OVERLORD) who was using his ancient slaves to build a tower of stone. Like the (tower of babel). so that he could climb to the top and jump off to fly but he crashed to the ground. i think the song had an (egyptian theme) in the music
Crikey you are going way back, these were my first rock band when I was a, kid, I had all rainbows records, along with Deep purple Ritchie Blackmore the guitarist from Deep purple formed Rainbow. Stargazer actually follows on with a light in the black which picks up the story. The b side of the LP were just these two tracks, I am showing my age, a blast from the past, I've never outgrown rock or metal though. Iove your reactions you compliment each other perfectly, I've missed a few out lately because for some reason I just don't like Rammstein, my son used to play them loud in his bedroom and I used to have system of a down on in the living room, poor neighbours it was before we had a detached house as well. 🇬🇧
Please react to 1970th Deep Purple "Child in time" with another phenomenal singer, Ian Gillan. And Rainbows Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. I'm sure, that you will like it. Another masterpiece of worlds music history.
(Dominica), you must look for a band from the 70s called simply (FREE) and also a band called (Jethro Tull) another one,( Led Zeppelin). all english bands
Dio maybe small in stature but that’s were it ends. I would say probably the greatest lead singer in rock/metal history. Then you chuck in Ritchie Blackmore, no need to say anymore. Love them. ❤️🤘🎸🎻🇦🇺
Dio was just a fantastic singer, and apparently a really nice bloke too. My favourite is his work with Black Sabbath but you can't really go wrong with him if you like the mythic storytelling. Blackmore I am more conflicted about - he's a good guitarist, but not so good at interpersonal stuff (he upset a lot of his old Deep Purple bandmates and to a lesser extent Dio) and I can't really see him objectively, which is a shame. Still worth listening to, though!
This song has simply everything, pure epicness rock history... something to represent humanity to explain our species and their beautiful potential to aliens ❤
🤩👌💥💯🎼 From "Deep Purple" to "Rainbow" is a continuum what many bands/artists have had carried on, with dreamy story telling, like from Iron Maiden to Nightwish. With your own time I suggest to check out a freshly released documentary about the singer Ronnie James Dio : "Dio : Dreamers Never Die" (2022) who was a recording singer/artist a way before the Beatles since 1958. A legend who made things by his means. Such a freakin cool track of choice to react to. Keep on rockin with this magical band, as well you have done with Nightwish. 🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙 "Gates of Babylon" next by Rainbow (???) 🙄
guys, listen to Dio in black sabbath next, it is incredible, check out the songs "i" , "sign of the soutern cross", "over and over", "mob rules"...all epic and amazing pieces of music
Stargazer=astrologist=wizard etc.Sería una acepción antigua de lider espiritual.Sacerdote y todo lo relacionado a la religión y mitologías relacionadas con los astros.Amo además el mensaje filosófico de esta canción épica.❤

nobody mentions that that is Richie Blackmore on guitar you know he formed the band Deep Purple... Ronnie James Dio went on to form his own fan and he also sang with Black Sabbath
Rising was in my opinion Rainbow's best Album that they released. Every Track on the LP is great, just a great Album! (Ok, the first Album is also great and the Live "On Stage" as well!) By the way: I see you don't have a Song from "Golden Earring" "Hawkwind" or "Ufo" on your Channel yet! But it's high Time you did! 😉 Album tip: Golden Earring Live 77 Hawkwind - Space Ritual Ufo - Flying PS: Camel is also a great Band
Andrei, in rock conteaza asa de mult instrumentistii....Daca nu ai o trupa beton in spate, poti sa ai cea mai buna voce ever, nu conteaza. Mister Blackmore a fost mult timp mastermindul Deep Purple, o alta legenda a rockului britanic.
Ihr seid ein Paar, welches gern nach einem bestimmen Tack den Kopf bewegt. Richtig bewegt. Denn Sinn noch den Text verstanden. Was soll jemand mit einem solchen Video?
Really it was impossible to find a performance with a live sound, and not this - from the studio album. Well, it’s clear that he couldn’t sing like that live. Personally, my attitude to such installation is purely negative. Because it's a scam. Making idiots out of people.
One of the best rock songs ever written.
Cosy Powell brilliant drummer died young too.
Ronnie James Dio was one of the best rock singer all time.R.I.P.
Rock singer?! He's one of the greatest singers of all time, period. All forms of singing.
The best

Ronnie grew up in central New York, had the privilege to see him play before he was "famous" with Elf
Tout simplement le plus grand chanteur de hard rock de tous les temps 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The Great,..late RONNIE JAMES DIO, Lead singer, with no classical training, could ALWAYS KNOCK THE VOCALS OUT OF THE PARK!!! HEAVEN'S HEAD BANGING!!! GOOD REACTION!!!
Richie Blackmore went from Deep Purple to start Rainbow. At start called Richie Blackmores Rainbow.🤗
I bought this album in the 70s. I was in my 20s, I am 71 now. Remember it well.
Rainbow always told stories with their music. Ritchie Blackmore was the grandfather of lots of later guitarist's
been a fave song of mine since it first was released in 1976, i was 11 years old, blew me away then, and still does now i am 57

Ronnie James Dio. Words cannot describe what an amazing influence he had around the world.
It's such a great loss to the world that Ronnie is no longer here, but his amazing voice will forever be cherished and enjoyed. ❤
I met Dio 3 times. He told me that he loved singing for his fans , and it really showed when he was on stage.
Blackmore = over 200 excellent pieces full of incredible riffs
Ronnie!!! Next to Freddie the best singer of all time. And Blackmoore... one of the best guitarist of all time. This song is a masterpiece btw 😂
Dio the best! Dio is one!

the whole Rainbow - Rising LP is amazing all 6 songs are perfect
Most epic outro of all time...
Dios Best Rock Metal singer ALL TIMEEE!! and second vocal from Black Sabbath: "Die Young" and "Lonely is the word".
The Rainbow is a bar and grill they liked to visit and called the band Rainbow

Another epic one is "mistreated" which showcases Dios voice in another touching way (live in Munich)
A bit late to the party here, but in case anyone is interested, the solo was performed in the B Phrygian dominant scale, which gives it that almost hypnotic Byzantine feel.
Also, the solo mimics the story, with the long ascending part depicting the wizard climbing the tower, and ending with him falling to his death.

and Lana Lane do a awesome cover from this STARGAZER!
So does Avantasia...both very good songs but quite beneath this one

ohh Dio is on of the best vocalist by me
Rainbow + Deep Purple number One 🎸🎸🎸🎸👏👍👏👍

Rainbow were definitely more famous in the UK.
You should react to their Song Rainbow Eyes. You'll be surprised.
you should check out 'Light in the Black' from the same album. It's the sequel to the story he is telling
Dio is inside he Hall of the mountain King now.

Arabic music...and solo guitar
I miss Ronnie so much! It's too bad that Ritchie was such an egomaniac.
Really it was impossible to find a performance with a live sound, and not this - from the studio album. Well, it’s clear that he couldn’t sing like that live. Personally, my attitude to such installation is purely negative. Because it's a scam. Making idiots out of people.
