Hi, you missed that the guitar also tells a whole story on the last solo. It tells how you are in the orient, how hard life is and then explains how tall the tower was by illustrating how long the climb was for the wizard with the ascending chords that kept going a lot longer than expected. Then it tells how wrong things went with the strident notes and the wizard falling to his death with the slides at the end of the solo. That's one thing people miss when listening to metal. A lot of the time, the guitar fills in part of the story not told by the lyrics.
Still my favorite song of all time. The best drum intro, the best singer which defined how metal vovalists should sound like and of course the ultimate guitar solo. 🔥

10 for me, one of my favorite songs of all time. Fantastic group, exceptional live shows. The 1977 Munich concert song "Mistreated" Is something you should checkout.
I’ve lived with the song since shortly after it’s release. It still moves me and gives me goosebumps. It’s definitely peak Rainbow but Ronnie was in to his groove which went on to new heights with both Black Sabbath and with his Solo band. There are not enough superlatives for this album. The stars really did align for this recording and it’s good to see people much younger than me appreciating it. I’d like to know what you think of it in another 40 years plus 👍
“Catch the Rainbow” ballad well written, rare Ronny singing falsetto. “Gates of Babylon” & “Kill the King” are my old favorites. “Children of the Sea” & “ Rainbow in the Dark” are the later favorites
Thank you for paying proper attention to the lyrics, something I felt many other reaction videos were lacking. To me the song is very visual, telling an epic story, which all the other instruments, particularly Ritchie's guitar solo, beautifully and greatly enhance and compliment, just as you noted.
"Stargazer" was the answer of Ricthie Blackmore (the guitarist and leader of Rainbow) to "Kashmir" the big hit by Led Zeppelin (led by the legendary guitarist Jimmy page) in 1975 . It includes the same harmonic minor scale (you can also find in another Rainbow song like Gates of Babylon or Perfect stranger by Deep Purple - after Rictchie Blackmore reintegrate this band) . Harmonic minor scale become then frequently played in the metal genre. If you want a song well crafted with the amazing voice of R.J Dio try "Children of the sea" by Black Sabbath .
It doesn't get much more epic than this!! Dio's vocals absolutely SOAR - the demonic elf himself has willed that wizard to plummet to his death. RIP Ronnie! Yes, that drum opening never gets old - Cozy Powell knew how to make an entrance. Blackmore's guitars, keys, strings...it's all there! 9/10 for me. Cheers.
Great reaction and analysis! Always glad to see someone new getting into hard rock and metal. If you are looking for suggestions I would recommend Reverie/Harlequin Forest by Opeth
Just found your site, very cool! Awesome song, and an excellent review! Now, how about another highly influential 70s classic, and the same year, 1976… Boston… either More Than A Feeling, or Foreplay/Long Time.
Love Dio, so glad I got to see him live on top of everything else he was an immense showman and incredible person. Would love to see you give the modern metal band Jinjer a go. Tight and complex musically with an incredible singer (my favorite modern metal singer) and powerful lyrics. I suggest Homeback. The band is Ukrainian and they made the song about losing their homes to the war in 2014. A powerful and current topic.

1976, in Europe this album was huge. In the UK people queued overnight to get it. It's a genre defining masterpiece The song is a morality tale inspired by the film "The Silver Chalice" starring Jack Palance Additional: your reaction says everything
@@InterestingStuff888 ok you watch the movie first before presuming and Ronnie said the song was partly inspired by a movie he loved as a teenager called.... oh look "The Silver Chalice". Were you even around in '76? As a starter: "The Silver Chalice". Here's the main scene, a wizard (Jack Palance) trying' to fly from the top of a tower built by slaves... and failing. th-cam.com/video/8dHzAn1vhl0/w-d-xo.html And Ronnie's signature style developed over time and wasn't limited to fantasy. Man you people with your blinkered views. Star Struck - a stalker The Shed(subtle) - Chelsea FC's infamous Shed and the fans Kill The King - Chess Heaven and Hell etc etc etc.
Remember as teenager listening to this song, and for me it was watching a movie! That iconic solo by Ritchie Blackmore was unmatched for almost 2 decades.
the continuation of this song on the same album, "a light in the black" was one of the first pre-metal songs and another epic Blackmore's solo after DP era
The world is full of kings and queens who blinds your eyes and steal your dreams , it's heaven and hell. According to Wendy, he was talking about Ritchie Blackmore in that paragraph. Also, the song rainbow 🌈 in the dark was also about Ritchie Blackmore. Ritchie really put Ronnie thru hell personally. Ritchie was the wizard his Idle, especially when he opened up for Deep Purple. He was in Elf opening up for the greatest band in the world at the time. It had to hurt when Ritchie wanted him out of the band.
I think it's a 10/10... But then again, I heard it when it first came out... You have to consider context at the time of release. No other band at the time, other than Rush with "2112", Could even come close. You really should listen to 2112 by Rush... Then I think you would understand😎
That, ladies and gentlemen, is creme de la creme of rock. And, again, it's so refreshing to hear experts explain without either looking down their noses or sucking up to the fans for their clicks. Please, stick to your guns, and that from a lifelong fan of Ritchie, Ronnie, Cozy and others. Most of us don't know keys or recognize time signatures, but with this, what you do, we can understand what we feel, the brilliance and the shortcomings. My impatient former-rocker-now-jazz-guitarist-son only had something like this to say: "Almost all rock is predictable... But it's great energy." You guys explain it far better, thank you!
It looked like You were too busy drinking that Coke, to truly realize what an amazing piece of art history this is. Turn off the camera, and the lights, next time. Close Your eyes, and just listen! This is easy a 10 point, if You absolutely must put a value on it. Dio, Cozy and Ritchie! No one will ever make anything better than this.
For more of the same level, react to “Gates of Babylon” which is an even better example of Phrygian Dominant. Ronnie James Dio’s outro is the most complete rock vocal performance ever. Note…the guitar solo IS the wizard ascending and then dramatically descending, played with a slide.
Here's a little tidbit to add to your historical possibilities. I've enjoyed this song for many years. Dio, Blackmore, and all the members of Rainbow are legends. A few years back I saw this documentary on the History channel and I immediately wondered if this was the basis for this song. Just food for thought. I have also included the Wiki link. In the 9th century engineer Abbas Ibn Firnas is considered to be the first human to fly with the help of a pair of wings built by silk, wood and real feathers. *Armen Firman is the Latinized name of Abbas Ibn Firnas. "According to some secondary sources, about 20 years before Ibn Firnas attempted to fly he may have witnessed Firman as he wrapped himself in a loose cloak stiffened with wooden struts and jumped from a tower in Córdoba, intending to use the garment as wings on which he could glide. The alleged attempt at flight was unsuccessful, but the garment slowed his fall enough that he only sustained minor injuries." Source: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbas_ibn_Firnas
In the next song (A Light in the Black), in the final verse, it’s revealed that the slave has become the next Stargazer/master, and the cycle begins again… Dio is brilliant.
I am new to this channel. I have watched a few things but only within that last few days. It would be silly to call myself a Dio or Rainbow fan. I didn't discover them, really, until I was in college. My metal roots start with Iron Maiden. However, I think this album is the greatest metal album of all time. I like rock music too and rather study it. Rainbow Rising is like the London Calling of metal music. There is this thru-way from it where you can tell how metal got there as well as where it went since, just like London Calling does with rock. Rainbow Rising is a revelation of an album and anyone who even remotely likes metal or hard rock music need to be familiar with it. It is as important a metal record as I have ever heard.
Artists in the 60's and 70's had unbelievable freedom to create what they wanted. The current era is a void of creativity by comparison because now artists have to chase the like, the views, the numbers and that means dumbing down their production to be more accessible. There is no way that an artist could force a record company to release something like Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" today.
Congratulations on a great review / reaction on a piece of music that is considered an all-time classic. If you like the fusion of rock/metal with orchestral music then I think you'd love dipping your toes into a sub-genre called Symphonic Metal. One of the prime movers in this is a band from Finland called Nightwish. They've been around for over 20 years now, and you'll see people reacting to their songs all over TH-cam (so no risk of copyright shenanigan, right?) Can I suggest you start where most people get their introduction to this band, with a live recording from the Wacken Open Air festival in 2013, and listen to "Ghost love Score". You can then try out other songs like "Poet and the Pendulum", (live at Wembley) "I Want My Tears Back" (live in Buenos Aires) "Phantom of the Opera" (live - End of an Era tour) and "The Greatest Show on Earth" (Live in Tampere, Finland) th-cam.com/video/47e_961OQWE/w-d-xo.html
Richie Blackmore the guitarist in rainbow was also in the band deep purple ,that being mentioned please check the song child in time you Seriously, won’t be disappointed. Excellent reaction guy.
Great reaction video! If you think that Heavy Metal was a later progression, listen to the song 'Black sabbath' from the band Black sabbath first album from 1970.
Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie Dio basically invented the sub genre of neo classical rock/metal. Ritchie was my hero and all time favorite guitarist. A legend in Black. Cozy Powell is maybe the greatest rock drummer in history. His snare drum work is legendary. Your brother is correct it is in E minor for the most part. To hear a more musical complex Rainbow song, check out "The Gates of Babylon" from the Rainbow record Long Live Rock and Roll.
Well, I reckon you both nailed it. Dio is legendary as one of the best metal vocalistscof all time. In fact, until I discovered Floor Jansen, he'd be equal number 1 with Bruce Dickinson
The “back and forth - back and forth” was intentional. Think of slaves hauling huge pieces of stone in step with each other. 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2 etc It’s symbolic
The absolute killer drum by Cozy Powell is rightly so considered one of the greatest drum intro in rock music. I'd say it's up there with Led Zepplin's song Rock n' Roll, Hot for teacher by Van Halen, Fireball by Deep Purple and Painkiller by Judas Priest.
As a new subscriber I LOVE your format. Other first time reaction videos stop the music 40 times, rewind it over & over, etc. Thats ok too but I like the way you stop the music very infrequently, & do the major analysis all at once afterwards. So. Just sayin, I like it, man!
Another band with a niche following and very similar in feel from the same time-frame was Trapeze. If you haven't heard them you may want to give them a try. Coast to Coast and Medusa are two of their best for completely different reasons.
If you liked this slice of '70's Epicness, then you have to try 'Kashmir,' by Led Zeppelin, which,in my opinion,is the only song of this type that surpasses 'Stargazer'! Led Zeppelin wrote many great songs, but nothing comes close to this nine minutes of Bombastic Greatness, complete with a Riff to die for!
Hello again and greetings from the Netherlands. About 2 weeks ago, I tried to draw your attention to a great band (in the comments of your 'Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name' video). I'm talking about Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. Any idea if and/or when you'll take a listen? I'd love to hear your opinion!
I second that. I love Ronnie James Dio and never thought there would be anyone like him in the future. Then i heard Floor and she did not disappoint. Very similar to RJD in the way she tells a story and holds you throughout the song and what a range. The band are amazing also
@@TheMusicKingdom Hi, lovely to hear from you. Some of my favourite songs? You know, that's almost impossible to answer as they have so many great songs. It's something you'll have to experience yourself, as every new song you hear from them could very well be your favourite. I recommended their epic and melodic song 'Ghost Love Score", live at Wacken 2013. A great piece with some masterful singing by their leadsinger Floor Jansen. th-cam.com/video/47e_961OQWE/w-d-xo.html However, this can be a bit much for first time listeners, as it has so many musical layers. If you prefer a more straightforward song, with a great melody and uplifting vibe, try 'Storytime' from that same show. th-cam.com/video/vUvEsX9D4eU/w-d-xo.html I think you'll love it. Take care and regards from the Netherlands.
Dio is known as one of the foundational metal singers of all time (RIP Dio). He had the ability to garner command of the audience with his strong presence, and powerful open-throated vocal technique. The people in 80s bands used to call him Pop. He was well respected and a gentle soul. Richie Blackmore's legendary talent still inspires musicians to this day. I have to say that he was tough to work with (an a$$, to be gentle). Lmao!! Great review.
I think the composition not being too "rich" or "complex" is a good fit for a "storytelling song" like this. Blackmore had plenty of far more complex compositions but most of them don't "hit" like Stargazer (as the zoomers would put it). This kind of song also demands a "meditative" mind state to really get into. I would have given a slightly higher score for the composition by taking the storytelling aspect into consideration (the droning and the driving melody helps rather than hurts the whole thing). I do agree that some variety (especially lyrical variety) in certain parts probably would have made it better. I think the final score doesn't have to be a perfect arithmetic average of all the scores because of the Gestalt factor: sometimes the sum really can surpass the individual qualities when evaluating the work as a whole. On another note, I like to imagine "the Wizard" in the song as a "Saruman type" with a powerful "voice" that he can "cast" to (spell)bind people to his will but no other "powers" evident by the fact that he failed to "fly" (deludes even himself in the end about having "power" and "divine mandate"). This was obviously a metaphor for extremely charismatic leader figures who can reaaally "talk the talk" but end up disappointing their followers when it comes to "walk the walk". Kind of like Gaius Terentius Varro who was really good at somehow convincing BOTH the people and the Senate that he was the guy who could defeat Hannibal (despite being a "pleb" without much of a "resume"/pedigree to show for) but then ended up presenting Rome with the disaster of Cannae and then fled the battlefield like the cowardly charlatan that he was instead of dying fighting on the field like the other commanders. So not even a well-deserved "blood on the sand" in the end... Words alone are magic because they **command** the mind to see. A promise (from a leader) is another kind of magic; it forces the follower to imagine the future where such a thing is true. It seems like people lack the ability to tune out, or the people who do tune out lack the ability to influence those who don't.
I'm an amateur drummer myself, so... Yeah. Cozy Powell killed that shit. The only "better" drum intro to a heavy rock/metal/pop song is the opening to WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS by Led Zeppelin/John Bonham and that's more about the percussive groove than the technicality. FIREBALL by Deep Purple/Ian Paice and PAINKILLER by Judas Priest/Scott Travis are kinda nice, too. I also like EXCITER. Again by Judas Priest but with Les Binks on the skins back in the '70's.
You should look at Chop Suey! by System of a Down. It is one of the best metal songs of the 2000s, and it probably doesn't even fit in one genre with how unique it is. The lyrics are also fantastic.
This song and all the songs from rainbow, I feel shaped heavy metal for what was to come. This band was way ahead of its time Blackmore the guitarist was way ahead of his time he put this group together Ronnie James Dio, the vocalist, cozy, palindromes way ahead of his time. It’s still sounds good, even though it was in the 70s and I like that you said it has a 70 sound but at the same time it could still come out now excellent.
Back and forth, back and forth repetitions are the slaves dragging the stones for the tower of the wizard. That's nine years worth of breaking their backs. You don't represent this nine years with less repetitions. And that's the beauty of the music of Dio. He can make you feel the song, the story of the song like no one else. You should hear Rainbow Eyes from the next Rainbow album if you like more melodic music.
I think Stargazer by Rainbow is about building the pyramids. If you buy in to the Ancient Aliens tv show, which sounds nuts but i give it SOME credence, all the pyramids around the earth were built by human labor, alien supervisors, and when they were all aligned geographically by latitudinal lines they created a type of energy- laser, magnetism, maybe a wormhole- by which the aliens would propel their ships into space. In the song, an accident causes the spaceship to crash, alien (the "wizard") dies, all go home, bummer. I believe the song is about this true folklore. Even if its not true, the folklore exists amongst native peoples who say their ancestors built pyramids and gods came down on flaming chariots, etc. A few clues in the song: the title, Stargazer. This wasnt a tower for a wizard to jump off & fly. Even the slaves built it thinking of the stars, even hoping they could go to- Dio sings, "When do we leave?" Again, not a tower for a one-off jump. He also sings, "Where is your star? Is it far?" Etc I could continue but you get the idea. If you watch the pyramid episodes of Ancient Aliens, you might believe this is a true story, like I kind of do. Kind of. Its possible. Anyway I think its an interesting angle to the whole thing, though I'm not sure you want to delve that deep into the lyrics of one song! But Dio's been a favorite of mine forever (i saw him many times in the 1970s & 80s) plus I'm a new subscriber so I wrote this looong comment. Will keep them shorter in the future. Thanks! Also, for some really cool guitar-vocal interplay, try out REO Speedwagon's live, You Get What You Play For album from the 70s(when they rocked like a you know what.) Its just good ol rock n roll, not metal, but the song "157 Riverside Avenue" has some of the best, cleanest, unbelievable guitar you'll ever hear. With the singer getting scatty, they have a back-and-forth "conversation" that is truly unique. Thats hard to do! Check it out for yourself, even if you don't do a first time listen reaction thing. Anyway. Thanks again, sorry for rambling on, Andy
i see it more as prog-rock than modern metal, i mean it's somewhat similar to Led Zeppelin, He has such a great voice. I think he sang in J.C. Superstar, unless that was the Deep Purple singer, yes, the DP singer sang Getsemane on the record but was not in the movie itself or something. Well another comment off topic. So while i'm at it i'll post the list of bands that played at the Rainbow Theatre, which is unrelated to the band Rainbow, : Focus, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Deep Purple, Queen, Elton John, The Bee Gees
Francis, You appreciated one of the all time classics, and that is commendable for a 'non-metal head'. It really has stood the test of time - nearly 50 years now. From a vocal point of view, could I politely recommend you watch this fantastic review by the legend / opera diva / vocal coach that is Elizabeth Zharoff - AKA The Charismatic Voice. th-cam.com/video/eR8hwLQIiFw/w-d-xo.html This explains his unbelievable vocal ability and I understood it so much better afterwards. Kudos to you. Perhaps try something from later in Dio's career - Falling Off The edge Of The World (with Black Sabbath) or perhaps The Last In Line (with his own band, Dio). Interested to see what your next choice will be. 🤓 (Oh - and subbed)
A band / song definitely worth checking out is LOVEBITES, song is A Frozen Serenade th-cam.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/w-d-xo.html. Would love to see your reaction / take on these ladies. They are an all female Japanese band who sing in English, and let me just say their technical expertise as musicians is off the F charts, SERIOUSLY. You'll get hundreds of comments to your reaction stating the same, trust me (we call ourselves the wolfpack). The hard rock / metal scene in Japan right now is so deep with talent...and these ladies are the pinnacle (IMHO). Two lead guitars who are the best duo in metal, a 4' 9" drummer who's a human metronome, a belter on vocals who can hit any range and many times compared to Bruce Dickinson (Maiden), and recently hired 20yr old phenom bassist Fami, who has her own YT channel with 700k+ subs! These ladies are heavily influenced by all the great bands of the 80s; Miyako (dark-haired guitarist) also cites Richie Blackmore and Gary Moore as major influences. They are the real deal and all of their music is top notch. A Frozen Serenade is very 80s-ish, but most of their music is akin to opening a can of napalm...fast AF. If you appreciate musicianship...look no further! 🤘🐺
You need to hear Mistreated live by Rainbow with Dio. That's incredable singing. And for a good round listen, you should next check out Rainbow Eyes by Rainbow with Dio. 👍🤘💜

th-cam.com/video/8dHzAn1vhl0/w-d-xo.html
And Ronnie's signature style developed over time and wasn't limited to fantasy. Man you people with your blinkered views.
Star Struck - a stalker
The Shed(subtle) - Chelsea FC's infamous Shed and the fans
Kill The King - Chess
Heaven and Hell etc etc etc.
«Nice voice!» …understatement of the Year!😂❤
Ritchie Blackmore was and will always be refered to as the Speed King. Go back and listen to Deep Purple In Rock and you will be stunned.
Remember as teenager listening to this song, and for me it was watching a movie!
That iconic solo by Ritchie Blackmore was unmatched for almost 2 decades.
The day Ronnie James Dio and Richie Blackmore teamed up marked the birth of what would become the genre of Power Metal.
the continuation of this song on the same album, "a light in the black" was one of the first pre-metal songs and another epic Blackmore's solo after DP era
You’d probably love Heaven and Hell from Black Sabbath. Ronnie James Dio sings on that track too
The world is full of kings and queens who blinds your eyes and steal your dreams , it's heaven and hell.
But it's great energy."
You guys explain it far better, thank you!
And now, for the understatement of the decade…
Dio: *sings anything*
Francis: “Nice voice”
Strongly recommend listening to Opeth, they have amazing compositions, Bleak is a favourite of mine
Bleak is great! I recommended Reverie/Harlequin Forest myself.
Blackmore did write probably the most recognized guitar riff of all time! Smoke On The Water.
Thank you for a great reaction!! And listening!!!
Somewhere back in blighty there's a house with this album cover painted on one of the walls...
You’ve just discovered the peak of 1970th rock music !
This song, Fly on a Windsheild by Genesis and Powerslave by Iron Maiden are two other tunes that have an ancient Egypt theme.
If you want to see some GREAT vocals react to the song Mistreated by this band in 1977 Munich. Dio fricking kills it :)
I just got the Munich concert on CD for Christmas!!! Best live recording ever! Miss you RJD!
The alleged attempt at flight was unsuccessful, but the garment slowed his fall enough that he only sustained minor injuries."

In the next song (A Light in the Black), in the final verse, it’s revealed that the slave has become the next Stargazer/master, and the cycle begins again… Dio is brilliant.
yo have you reacted to king crimson? some songs like "Epitaph" could make an interesting video
It is as important a metal record as I have ever heard.
oh I love this whole album .... this was one of my first albums I bought and I love it
Artists in the 60's and 70's had unbelievable freedom to create what they wanted. The current era is a void of creativity by comparison because now artists have to chase the like, the views, the numbers and that means dumbing down their production to be more accessible. There is no way that an artist could force a record company to release something like Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" today.
Well said!
"Heaven & Hell" Dio era Black Sabbath is EPIC \m/
you are well spoken and expressive
9:10 Yes. It's Richie Blackmore.
The great Ronnie James Dio. The greatest vocalist EVAH!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
This song along with Gates of babylon have a very ethereal deserty bleakness I can get hypnotised by the lead work in gates of babylon,, trippy
I must SLIGHTLY disagree with your score of 9 out of 10 for Dio's singing. Personally I would score it about 736 out of 10
The “back and forth - back and forth” was intentional. Think of slaves hauling huge pieces of stone in step with each other.
1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2 etc
It’s symbolic
The absolute killer drum by Cozy Powell is rightly so considered one of the greatest drum intro in rock music.
I'd say it's up there with Led Zepplin's song Rock n' Roll, Hot for teacher by Van Halen, Fireball by Deep Purple and Painkiller by Judas Priest.
the best rock song ever
As a new subscriber I LOVE your format. Other first time reaction videos stop the music 40 times, rewind it over & over, etc. Thats ok too but I like the way you stop the music very infrequently, & do the major analysis all at once afterwards. So. Just sayin, I like it, man!
Another band with a niche following and very similar in feel from the same time-frame was Trapeze. If you haven't heard them you may want to give them a try. Coast to Coast and Medusa are two of their best for completely different reasons.
Another GOAT starting in the 70s, Judas Priest and the song , changes and or the ripper.
If you liked this slice of '70's Epicness, then you have to try 'Kashmir,' by Led Zeppelin, which,in my opinion,is the only song of this type that surpasses 'Stargazer'!
Led Zeppelin wrote many great songs, but nothing comes close to this nine minutes of Bombastic Greatness, complete with a Riff to die for!
zep was over rated
Kill the King is a fav of mine and Gates of Babylon is another exotic epic.
Definatly their Best Song in their whole History.....and damn, there are soooo many Great Songs in their Discography !!!!
You have stumbled upon one of the greats in music, Ronnie James Dio aka Dio with his voice as his instrument.
The band are amazing also
Who else than our Martine on Nightwish suggestion 🤩👌Gotta love it.
But is this 'duud' on-line enough to take a note(?) Dääämmm...🙈
🤘 😎 🇫🇮 💙 💯 💥
@@jaskau2462 😅I'll stay on his case about it
Lots of comments, finally saw yours. I love the dedication. What’re some of your favorite songs by Nightwish?
The zoom on the dog 😆
Rainbow, had the best Vocalist, unsurpassed, the best guitarist, unsurpassed, the best drummer, unsurpassed.
Sorry, wrong, see Ian Gillan and Ian Paice's,
I'm an amateur drummer myself, so...
Yet Cozy P. managed to trash many songs in MSG as well... 😉👍
You should look at Chop Suey! by System of a Down. It is one of the best metal songs of the 2000s, and it probably doesn't even fit in one genre with how unique it is. The lyrics are also fantastic.
Rising is one of the albums that created the heavy metal sound.
Maybe "Gates Of Babylon" next?
This song and all the songs from rainbow, I feel shaped heavy metal for what was to come. This band was way ahead of its time Blackmore the guitarist was way ahead of his time he put this group together Ronnie James Dio, the vocalist, cozy, palindromes way ahead of his time. It’s still sounds good, even though it was in the 70s and I like that you said it has a 70 sound but at the same time it could still come out now excellent.
Stargazer is my favorite all-time song!
I suggest you check out Symphony X Iconoclast!
Suggesting Child In Time (Deep Purple off of "In Rock" album) and Mistreated (also Deep Purple, the version off Live in London is IMO the best one).
Check “sign of the southern cross” from sabbath
In the song, an accident causes the spaceship to crash, alien (the "wizard") dies, all go home,
bummer.
I appreciate your enthusiasm, but this is one of the greatest masterpieces in music history. including Beethoven. What do you consider 10 out of 10?
i see it more as prog-rock than modern metal, i mean it's somewhat similar to Led Zeppelin, He has such a great voice.
From a vocal point of view, could I politely recommend you watch this fantastic review by the legend / opera diva / vocal coach that is Elizabeth Zharoff - AKA The Charismatic Voice. th-cam.com/video/eR8hwLQIiFw/w-d-xo.html
This explains his unbelievable vocal ability and I understood it so much better afterwards.
Kudos to you. Perhaps try something from later in Dio's career - Falling Off The edge Of The World (with Black Sabbath) or perhaps The Last In Line (with his own band, Dio). Interested to see what your next choice will be. 🤓 (Oh - and subbed)
Much appreciated, Chris! 🤘🏼
I saw tham play this live in 1976 saw them s times altogther
Try the gates of babylon
Iconic song ❤
It was an instant thumbs up for the CORGI!!!! And then it only gets a 8.4? My belief is that the song should have gone on for another 5 minutes.
I’d be VERY happy if it did that.
You need to hear Mistreated live by Rainbow with Dio. That's incredable singing. And for a good round listen, you should next check out Rainbow Eyes by Rainbow with Dio. 👍🤘💜
I'd love to see you react to something by Disturbed. David's vocal range is incredible.
His cover of "if I Ever Lose My Faith in You" is epic.
