My personal favourite protagonist of all time. The character of John Marston is someone I became fascinated by every since 2010. I often forget these games aren’t real, and aren’t apart of history. That’s how well written & immersive these games are.
I'd say Arthur's is tied because Arthur's death helped to ensure John got the chance he did at a new life. Arthur's death becomes even more tragic when what happens to John happens because it means Arthur died for next to nothing.
@@randomlyentertaining8287 ye but I would say johns death is a lot more realistic then Arthur's, johns death is unfair, out of nowhere and I think that really adds to how tragic johns death was

I love Arthur, one of the best protagonists ever written in games, movies, plays or books But John Marston will always be my favourite, Legend of the West is a fitting title for a man that took on the gangs, the Mexican Army and eventually the American government by himself pretty much all to see his family again.
I would love a game about the early days of the gang where they're not constantly near civilisation just surviving on their own and the final mission would be the start of the boat Robbery

Almost everyone in the Vanderlind gang says something positive about Mac with the exception of Charles. Even Agent Milton brags about how he gave Mac a merciful death after giving a hard fight during the aftermath of the Black Water Massacre. Makes you wonder what kind of story he has to be always mentioned like that.
I would love a Red Dead Revolver re-make where Red Harlow tells the story as it actually happened, not the 'legend' that the first game was written off as.

part of me thinks that the reason why john kept bringing up his worries about jack potentially being "abused" when being held by bronte is the same reason he ran away from the orphanage
This has me thinking about how much traveling did Dutch made during the 1880s and early 1890s since he found John and Arthur when they are at least 12 years old
rockstar nailed the rdr universe so well, of course you might hate them for making micah and killing off the best, but that emotion and attachment to those characters really makes you see how well the game was put together
John is the only one of the main criminal charaters besides Arthur who tried for redemption, the other only left the life of the gang, I think it was his family that made him try to do better
I love Arthur to death, but John I could relate to more and I did love that character. His struggle in fatherhood made him a character hated but we see his first redemption in RDR2 when he becomes a Family man and does Abigail and Jack right. RDR1 was his Second Redemption story. I love Arthur, and I love John. But one character I need to see is Jack, and I mean Adult Jack. At the end of the day, RDR2 wasn't just Arthur's story, it wasn't just Johns past, but it was Jack's Origin story. RDR1 was apart of it as well, and then we seen what all of that created, and it created the angry gunslinger known as, Jack Marston. I'd love to see a movie based on the Gang's origins, or a series, and the next game to be about Jack and The New World.
I love these origin videos. Thank you so much for keeping up the Red Dead content. Cause I will forever be obsessed with this game and always on the hunt for new videos about it and your channel always delivers in spades.

Many people always jump to 2 idea for rdr3 for Jack that don’t match the theme of a western. him in ww1 the USA doesn’t get involved in that until April 1917- November 1918 even still not every last person old enough to go fight was drafted to do so we don’t need to put him in the war for the story. As for prime mafia Era that don’t start until 1920 but at that point it wouldn’t be a real red dead game anymore because red dead is about western adventures. We still have 1914-1919 to follow up on the storyline of Jack after killing Edgar which realistically is a really logical Choice to eventually explore. given one of the main themes of this franchise that being “actions have consequences” and technically considering the last decade acknowledged on western timelines is the 1910s it’s not like we’re stepping on the toes of any other major crime era.
I feel like John should have had his own notebook but it was already filled out it wouldn't show a lot of bad drawings like in Arthur's book when he gets it and it would show another bit of what happened on the ferry heist and what he did on his year away from the gang
