    Top reasons to visit Almaty
    • Round trip from Delhi will cost you between ₹18,000 - ₹22,000
    • Kazakhstan is a visa-free country for Indians
    • Almaty is a Central Asian beauty
    This video will cover the last part of our 13-day Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan trip. We go to Kaindy Lake, Issyk Lake, Kolsay Lake, Black Canyon, Moon Canyon, Charyn Canyon, and Charyn River.
    If you want to know what to do in Almaty, check out our first video -
    If you want to travel to Uzbekistan from Kazakhstan, we have covered that here -
    When to visit Almaty
    • The best time is during June-July or September-October. Rest of the times it either too cold or too hot.
    • We went in the first week of October - and it was the prettiest
    Where to stay in Almaty
    Best place to stay is near the Zenkov's Cathedral / Panfilov Street / KokTobe. It will put you very close to most of the tourist attractions in the city. We stayed at the Wanderlust hostel.
    At Saty village, we stayed at Aisha Guest House.
    How to travel in Almaty
    • You can either walk or take cabs. You can install YandexGo Taxi app.
    • If you can figure out, public transport is is available everywhere in Almaty. Use 2GIS app to navigate in Almaty instead of Google Maps.
    Language Barrier
    Most people do not speak English. You can use Google Translate.
    Local SIM Card:
    You can buy a local SIM near the exit gate of airport. I have covered why you shouldn’t buy from city.
    Currency:
    Currency used in Kazakhstan is Tenge. Current exchange rate is 1 INR = 5.7 Tenge. It is suggested to bring USD from India and exchange for Tenge at the airport. You will get good rates. We used our Citibank cards.
    Trains:
    1. Kazakhstan - bilet.railways...
    2. Uzbekistan - eticket.railwa...
    Others:
    Taxi: Use YandexGo - play.google.co...
    Maps: 2GIS (available for an app store for Apple users) - apps.apple.com...
    Budget (5-6 Almaty - Saty) - mrsdaakustudio...

    We are planning to visit and Haider seems like a great guy ... Would appreciate it if you could share his contact or any agency from whom you got him from .. also is he comfortable in English?

      You can contact Aidar at +77477671990 - do tell him we say hi. No, he doesn't understand English - the best way is to have a translation app handy and do all your conversations from there. In general, most people in Kazakhstan wont understand English. You need to have translation app

    Very informative video. Did you explore staying in Yurts?
    Also can one swim in these natural water bodies?

    • @mrsdaakustudio
      @mrsdaakustudio  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, at the time we went, yurts weren’t really available because the weather was cold. You can however opt for it if you like.
      I don’t think you are allowed to swim in most lakes - at least not the ones we visited.

    Hi mam i am going on a trip of uzbekistan & kazakstan. I am planning to take the train from tashkent to kazakhstan can you tell me from your experience will it be better to get down at shymkent or almaty as shymkent is earlier stop & almaty is last. Or will it be btter to start our kazak tour from almaty

    • @mrsdaakustudio
      @mrsdaakustudio  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Trains are great in the country, very comfortable and safe. It depends on your itinerary and where you want fly back from. You can roam around in Uzbekistan, then take a train to shymkent or a shared cab (you take a cab to border from Tashkent, cross it, take another shared cab to shymkent). We had a flight back from Almaty, so we took a train directly from Tashkent to Almaty.

      @@two_wanderedsouls that sounds wonderful. So i would suggest from Tashkent, you can go to shymkent and turkestan, stay there for 2 nights, grab a train evening of the 3rd day for Almaty and directly go to Saty village - stay there 3 nights at least, get back to almaty and roam around until you have the flight back.
      For saty, you can watch our video and grab the number of the cab we took. I cannot recommend him enough.

    Hello Chavi- excellent and informative video. 1. I am going to Almaty in July Aug. Can you share contact number of Wanderlust hostel and how to book a private room there? 2. As i understand, you went to Saty village and from there you moved around to various lakes and canyons instead of doing trips from Almaty. This is interesting and a much better idea. Which place other than Aisha Hostel, you can suggest for Saty Village? 3. How to move around from Saty to various lakes? Are the cars easily available? Thanks and regards

    • @mrsdaakustudio
      @mrsdaakustudio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi suresh, 1. You can find wanderlust hostel on booking.com and book from there. That’s what I did 2. For other options, you probably have to find them on Instagram and reach out. Booking also has some options, you can check out. It’s a little interiors and I couldn’t find a lot of information on this. 3. We hired Aidar to explore. You have only 3 options: first, hire a car from Almaty and drive yourself. Second, hire aidar or any other cab guy to take you around 4. Pay the local transport but this can be expensive and sometimes you won’t even find anything in which case I have seen people hitchhiking. I would recommend hiring a cab or a self drive car

    Really very inconvenient and non researched trip you had in Almaty.. Either there wasn't any info available last year or you didn't research it well..
    1 day group tours are easily available for charyn canyon, kolsai and kaindy lake from Almaty for about 3.7K INR..

      That’s great, hope you have a great time doing that. Why not share the link for that as well so it can help others?
      Also - We researched as much we wanted to, and we have a very convenient trip to Almaty and the rest of the country. I wouldn’t change it for anything.
      Thank you for stopping by.

      Sure, people can search panda travels, Almaty on google. They have a lot of group tours available. The one I mentioned is for 20000 tenge per person.
      And regarding convenience, it sure doesn't look like it was a convenient trip. Cheers.

      @@yashtyson88thanks for the info. Did you travel with them? How was the experience? Are they legit?
      Like I said, I had the most amazing trip at Almaty. I met the most helpful people and locals. It couldn’t be more convenient than it was, and with Haider it was icing on the cake.
      You probably love to plan your travel to the T, I don’t. I like to leave out bits and pieces for the kind experiences that I had. Each to its own! 😊
