Some quick comments for newer to PS2 players watching this video 1) There is no longer vehicle specific cooldowns, you don't need to spend certs to keep flying. 2) They have changed the night vision optics- it no longer illuminates enemies, only thermal does this, at shorter range, and at much more cost (like 200 certs)
The final commentary about having fun made it for me, liked + subscribed cuz you deserve it, guys have fun plz and don't break other ppl's fun with TK and bullshits :) enjoy
Hey I just saw your video from reddit, and you have some excellent tips on this video, but in terms of actual dogfighting, there are a few essential strategies that weren't covered, and I'd be glad to share em ;) I'm a fully certed BR 56 pilot on Waterson NC. Good luck out there!
funny thing is i dont fight in esf much but im practicing too and a br 112 offered me help to train... He asked me to go in vr and dodge his shots......I was extremely surprised that he couldnt keep up with me around the rock stacks XD
yeah might wanna update that where you recommend the night vision... it now makes it harder to see at night and basically makes enemies look identical to terraign
Funny that the tips still Apple after this amount of time has passed.. Like maybe they changed some stuff.. but nope. Just the cert stuff is a bit different. Thanks mr.skelly! I'll keep them in mind c:
Ive been horribly rusty in an esf due to my planetside not working on the pc and then it recently came out on ps4. It took me ALOT more getting used to than i thought. In an esf im fairly decent at taking out ground targets but im astoundingly bad at dog fighting but i learned some thimgs here that i should note and use on the battlefield.
73fishmonger You need to practice Reverse Maneuver techniques for dog fighting with the Hover mode, this will give you an equal edge who is good in dog fighting., and upper edge who doesn't know how to do it. Because when someone wants to turn around and doesn't know who to do reverse maneuver, they become easy target.
They recently changed the way it operates. At the moment I wouldn't suggest using nightvision and instead save up for thermal which is a clear upgrade.
I think the only thing that may be "outdated" is the night-vision upgrade took a big nerf and my not be as effective. Everything else is great, general advice.
I am always out-turned by a reaver while in a scythe, not so much while in a mossie, any tips on what airframe to use? I have both hover and dogfighting max'd out. Maybe I should go back to hover (but it has a so unbearably sluggish feel to it)
Whenever I used the Night Vision optics, I could only see about 20 feet in front of my vehicle. Could it be an issue with using very low graphic settings?
The flare has some bad side.....the cooldown....well most of the problems you have with ground are lock on rockets....when they reload and youre flare is still in cooldown....not good....just dodge them with terrain or just boost out with afterburner
depends, i find that the scythe is the easiest to fly, but the worst all around fighter, then the reaver is pretty balanced, then the mosquito is the best but the hardest to fly, but thats just my opinion.
2pumpedupforu yeah, but hovering isnt worlds answer. And to be honest: In dogfights These days, it Ends pretty clear. The winner still has half health. Ist never that Close, so the low Health of Mosquito would have any Influence. And Hoverpower is only important if you want to kill infantery. (my opinion) But the best choice is still Scythe.
Its not that easy at all to be honest, doing all these things, you cant avoide that one thing that will always happen to you, a lvl 120 pro mosquito destryoing u in the blink of an eye, best thing to do, the very best, is to stay at the maximum altitude height behind enemy lines, predict where alot might be going on right now, either avoid those areas or persue them if you want a fight. Also try to stick to friendly ESF, and try to be that guy, this little fuck, who out of nowhere appears from above you and - "destroys you in the blink of an eye" ;D , by being at max altitude scouting out the area
In my experience, if you press space and ctrl alternatively it greately reduces your speed. * "learn how to land" that's why I'm here. Just telling that you need to learn. You should say how to. That's where my dislike comes from.

thats kinda the problem nowadays in planetside almost everyone that you see being a pilot seem to be experienced as hell
i panicked like 50 times and used to be that guy who rams into u or commits suicides
Haha, I still panic and accidentally ram people some times.
when u graduate to killing them, u will know how fun it is
funny thing is i dont fight in esf much but im practicing too and a br 112 offered me help to train... He asked me to go in vr and dodge his shots......I was extremely surprised that he couldnt keep up with me around the rock stacks XD
side note if anyone is still watching this
for #21. it says get NV optics, don't... get thermal now. NV no longer lights up targets.
for #21. it says get NV optics, don't...
And then 4 years later dont get thermal now, it doesn't lights up infantry, only vehicles .___.
Great stuff man, as a new ps4 pilot this video is extremely useful.
Also if you push your middle mouse button you can look around from inside the cockpit.
Holy shit, i started flying a bit, theres always some AA on the ground, even in the smallest of fights, like 12vs12.
yeah might wanna update that where you recommend the night vision... it now makes it harder to see at night and basically makes enemies look identical to terraign

This video was very helpful. Thank you
Very good vid. thanks for the tips. If you don't mine me asking, what server do you play on?
No.28 the reaver is slow so use racer 3 on it. Use hover on the scythe and mossie.
I think the only thing that may be "outdated" is the night-vision upgrade took a big nerf and my not be as effective.

Stay low??!! I personally just love taking out silly pilots who fly low enough to be hit by anti-tank phalanx turrets!!!
as this is old I belive a better saying stau low, but not near enemy tanks or phalanx towers
Great vid, thanks for the effort!
You forgot to mention the most important newbie tip: Learn to fly in third person (vs occasionally switch to it)
i was about to say the same man the nightvision is poor now compared to how it was before so thermal is a definate thumbs up
great vid man ^^
You guys don't need to number them =P Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
Whenever I used the Night Vision optics, I could only see about 20 feet in front of my vehicle. Could it be an issue with using very low graphic settings?
How to you fly in third person? I fly just fine in first person but once I switch to third I quickly lose control. Are there any useful key setups?
A bit outdated, any recent chanches?
Except the removed cooldown and the nightvision?
The flare has some bad side.....the cooldown....well most of the problems you have with ground are lock on rockets....when they reload and youre flare is still in cooldown....not good....just dodge them with terrain or just boost out with afterburner
i dont know if mentioned the control that you used, so was it the keyboard or the mouse ?
No. 29: For the NC; Shotguns, shotguns, shotguns (aka rule of the Airhammer).
Omg this is so helpful
I dont have a tiki.
Glad someone else noticed.
It's "T"-key
IS there a way to DISABLE mouse roll?
Hooray! Thank you very much =D
I think Frank Herbert was the man you were thinking of. Dune
I can fly the valkyrie pretty well but as soon as I get in an ESF I crash it.
I can't stress playing safely enough.
Good vid!
*2:33** Did you mean "Safety is number 1 priority."*
*CrazyRussianHacker reference*
Great stuff =]
Skelly, can you show us which keys you have assigned?
Certainly! Video incoming!
what keybindings do you use?
It's not suicide if they ram its kamakazie if they know there going to die
If you are locked hug hills and rocks
I hate the sound of the reaver engines. Reminds me of beeing at the dentist. I love the mossie :D
What Camo is he using?
The Reaver(if I am using the correct name) looks like a buttplug. Just look at the health bar.
+Rockfilip What is the use of buttplug?
Yeah, I still cant believe how ugly the Reaver Looks :\Another reaon why Im flying Scythe.
+neotronextrem i think all the esfs look amazing.
2pumpedupforu REaver not :\
ist to clubby.
I dont want to fly an Pickaxe m8, i want to fly an Insect or an Farmers Weapon....
No.27 buy lolpods and practice using them for aa
Last so true :)
Might wanna make an annotation about NV being crap now.
if you fly low you will be an easier target to get hit from the top.
well.. the best tip is just dont fly unless your empire have a massive air support..
Nick Pereira Try telling BlueYellowMustang that. That guy will fly in, take out three people and fly right back out with 50 people looking for him.
Do you think that the Mosquito is easier or harder to fly than your Reaver?
depends, i find that the scythe is the easiest to fly, but the worst all around fighter, then the reaver is pretty balanced, then the mosquito is the best but the hardest to fly, but thats just my opinion.
Easier. Its faster, and has an less hit-space.
+neotronextrem less health and less hover power.
(my opinion)
But the best choice is still Scythe.
+neotronextrem all fighters have same health pool
Nightvision=Thermal-VisionUgly=Night-vision...
No.26 max out your ESF
what does ESF mean
+Notorious Top Empire Specific Fighter.
Here you go: wiki.planetside-universe.com/ps/Acronyms_and_Slang
Oh thanks :)
Lol this is so old. Now not even thermals mark infantry
ESFs should have way more health you get killed befor you even know it and the 5min youve been flying around earlier nothing happened :/
Description =).
I play ps2 on ps4

Check my channel. I have a video specifically about my controls.
i clicked the SEXY SEXY sub button!
Waterson FTW
P.S. lets kill Totalbiscuit.
Why are you talking like that
In my experience, if you press space and ctrl alternatively it greately reduces your speed.
