I’m waiting on my new pc to arrive before I play this myself, but I’ve watched a few video guides and these seem like some of the better ones. You seem knowledgeable about the game and your explanations are fairly clear and detailed.
Great video, Ian. I've been practicing in my reaver whenever I get the chance. I've definitely improved since beta, but these tip will help me a lot. Keep the great videos and streams coming!
Thanks! Glad it helped. I've heard this a few times and will be doing a video to explain the way I fly and such. I'm working on my graduation project for University atm so not been able to make any videos recently unfortunately. I'll be back to full stride soon though!
Also you can use the afterburner + sharp turns (with good timing) to dodge a lock-on missile if you're too high in the air to find cover. Just thought that was worth mentioning :s it is a pretty reliable way to 'counter'
Love the videos bro, very insightful.. any chance of making more in depth vids for more advancement in piloting skills? also you seem to have a fairly unique style which you use to amazing effect, i'd love to learn that.
Thanks for the video man. I was doing somethings right and others completely wrong. Once again, thanks for clearing up some of my own confusion on flying. Cheers!
These guides are extremely useful, thank you for posting. I noticed you have not released a new video in a very long time. Do you have any plans for future guides?
Everyone seems to agree that the Hover/Stability upgrade for the Reaver is the best option to increase its overall handling and speed. Would you say that this also holds true for the Scythe, or would the Racer frame be a more valid option for it since it starts out as a much more stable aircraft?
Very much looking forward to this video. I regard myself as a fairly good pilot, I can dominate any game in BF3 when it comes to flying, but in PS2 with the Skyguard, Bursters, G2A as well as the A2A missiles, Anti-Air is ridiculous in this game. I can't seem to find a way to dodge missiles reliably, or even at all. Rage ensues when I'm shot down by pilots using A2A, I can't take the fact they won't dogfight.
do you use afterburners while you basestrafe? I can't seem to get it down >< btw your vid has helped me alot :) I'd like to thank you for that. thumbs up for you bro :D
I get this question a lot and I really don't know how to help people on it since I can't replicate the problem. I think it could be that I have a gaming mouse (high DPI and such). I use the G700 Logitech so that could be the issue, if you are using a non-gaming mouse that is. I'll try to look into this more and make a video to help you guys out!
English never was my strong point, but I think "how many players aircraft can be targeted by" so as to say that there are many players that can target aircraft is still correct. If it was "how many players aircraft can target", I think that would be more what you think it means, but again I'm not sure lol. Yeah, it does just require a bit more situational awareness, of when it is and isn't appropriate to engage. My PC is also kind of sluggish, so that might do it as well :\ Thanks for the tip!
Lystephe Vayardi Ye ye I know now. That was 6 months ago. But it still feels cool as shit when you end the fight by shooting the sundy with rocket pods and then jumping out and C4'ing it.
I'm actually testing this right now with Mosquito and Scythe, I'll be making individual Scythe and Mosquito certification guides soon and let you know :)
i dont get it, if i use the mouse i cant turn and roll as fast as this video, my aircraft moves at 50% of the speed i see here...only by using the arrow keys can i roll fast but its hard to aim since the keys are too sensitive...how can you make mouse flight so sensitive? (i already have it maxed out in the options)
Once I get my internet fixed, I'm really really excited to train myself to be a good Galaxy Pilot :D With how beautiful this game is, and how intense and large scale, it should be awesome
ive tried turning my dpi way up and the sens in game way up to no avail to try and make these fast turns my mouse dpi is 6400 when i put it all the way up its like their is a slight delay only when im flying on rolls and turns
you're right, I feel like a tool for calling you out on that and being wrong, haha. sorry. if you don't already, use third person view when not trying to line up shots, it helps with the situational awareness a bit. but if you look at my channel's only planetside2 video, you'll see that I'm a failure at piloting XD just have a few pro friends. if you need some tips on improving your fps in planetside 2 without upgrading hardware give me a pm, i went from 15fps in large battles to 25-35
I'd rage a bit less if there were reliable ways to counter them. The recharge on flares is ridiculously long, and with how many players aircraft can be targeted by (other aircraft, skyguards, tanks with anti-air, stationary anti-air, Burster maxes), it's not really much fun to be flying in PS2
Will you be getting a PS4? My friends and I are forming a squad and joining the TR.We want to join a outfit, but I will command the squad. We would love to join you :)
It would be helpful if you would say the action that you are doing, and not what you are pressing on the keyboard. I've changed (reassigned) a lot of keys, and have no idea what control your space bar does, or any other key you speak of.

+David Jackson PlanetSide 2 is a first person shooter at heart. Battlefield 4 is a first person shooter at heart. There are a plethora of first person shooters out there that allow you to drive vehicles, fly aircraft, or choose from a variety of soldier classes that suit your playing style. Some even offer the ability to level your soldier to acquire new loadouts as well. That's the juxtapose I was making, and that's where it ends. It seems as if you're only here to start an argument. Either that, or you yourself don't have a lot of experience playing first person shooters. I guess, simply by your replies so far, that you enjoy arguing, or trying to put others down to somehow make yourself feel like you have some sort of purpose. I tell you what, I promise to be hurt by your next reply. You won't have to worry about me replying back, because I won't. I do not intend to waste anymore time with you. An intelligent, mature discussion, I can tolerate. An argument with an adolescent (I would guess), no thank you.
you need a mouse with a high level of DPI and your vehicle mouse turn speed needs to be between 30 & 60 *the lower the number the higher accuracy with the AV turret but at cost of being able to turn your aircraft or magrider or base turrets... the higher the turn speed means better maneuverability but increased difficulty with twitch aiming and less accuracy with AV turret... but if your turn speed with mouse is between 30 to 60 you can adjust with practice in the VR Zone... --Reverse Fly-- Hover Stability Air Frame recommended for ASF... High G Air Frame for Lib or Gal. Push forward, then pickup your mouse and repeat quickly while holding space and lightly tapping a or d to stabilize your aim while in 3rd to reverse fly. --180 Change Step-- Any Air Frame for ASF Roll on your back then push forward and you will perform a 180 change step. *Dont hold space... it will make your turn slow and sluggish* --180 Dime Turn Spiral Reaver-- 180 Quarter Turn Spiral Mossy-- *that purple thing cant do it* to do a dime turn spiral spin out *remember all flying craft turn slowly horizontally and turn even slower at slow speeds but maneuver rapidly vertically no matter the speed. The Reaver especially, can almost do a 360 back flip while sitting still. To begin, perform a 90 degree roll left or right and then push forward hard with your mouse 180 degrees while holding the 90 degree angle (dont decelerate or it will take longer to recover from the drop)... you will notice your craft to be in a free fall state heading toward your downward wing at about 2 - 5 kph with minor acceleration in that direction. However if you didnt decelerate prior to the maneuver you will recover with only a 10 - 15 meter drop in altitude and if your turn was quick enough, the radius of your full turn can be as tight as only a couple meters *about 20ish* narrow enough to perform the maneuver within the tight canyons of Indar or tight enough to change direction into your target shortening the amount of time they have to fire at your full length profile. (hover stability air frame is most helpful with slowing your descent) If you decelerated prior to the maneuver then your ASF will stall and crash into what ever ground is below you... if your gear is down its a quick way to land on an air pad or between rocks, but if your craft isnt perfectly flat natural on contact (gear down top up) you will blow up. The 180 Dime Turn (180 Quarter Turn for Mossy) rapidly drops air speed and allows you to track a target without loosing visual of the ground. this is a better maneuver to pull when in tight spaces such as between narrow canyon walls or tight dogfights with many craft at low altitude. --360 Dime Turn Complete Spiral (Reaver)-- *No other craft can do it* If you can perform the 180 Dime Turn correctly then you can easily advance into the 360 Dime Turn Complete Spiral by catching a tailgater pursuer off guard allowing them to fly past you while you catch them in the rear. A Tailgater is a pursuer that is on your tail within 25 meters and traveling at top speed. to begin the maneuver you need a bit of luck by being in just the right place to trap your pursuer. The conditions for this maneuver are very specific and currently can only occur in the canyons of Indar. The enemy needs to engage you in what they think of as the perfect kill. You are traveling through a canyon flying low and at near top speed while the enemy engages you from above, often at the angle of the sun. he thinks you are trapped because your only option of escape is either along the path you are heading (which he is tracking) or up and into his fire (which he is also tracking) which he thinks are perfect conditions for leaving you smoking on the canyon floor. The best option at this point is to accelerate along the canyon path and hope your enemy watched a lot of vids saying for them to get close before opening fire, if the enemy had any skill at all he would have done just that. and this is the beauty of the manuver. At this point your acceleration with after burners or wat not would have put him on your tail. Now you have him set up for your counter attack. Begin the 360 Dime Turn by turning into the near wall and banking out into the opposite direction at 90 degrees *bear in mind the "mark" will be firing at you and at this point you need to make a judgment call on either to pull out at the 180 dime turn to escape or stick with it for a full 360 to return fire* if you have chosen to return fire then push forward on your mouse remembering to pick it up at the 180 quickly and then pushing it forward again to complete the 360... because your pursuer is so close he will drift past you and realizing this will activate his AB then turn to climb high... so at 360 you activate your AB and turn to climb high as well... he has no choice of left or right turn and can only climb high... you can then smote his ruin on the mountain.
I dont use the engineer class often for my aircrafts because the auto rep skill is good enough at some points not but I can jump anytime into the engineer class. I must say I hate it that you have a third person view. destroys the gameplay.
"how many players aircraft can be targeted by" is everyone - that is to say, everyone can be shot at (targeted by) an aircraft. You kinda used the wrong wording there. I hear you, but it's situational. It's way better to fly around various locations without too big of battles going on and just pick off 1-2 people, people rarely have AA going unless they are in a big battle near a supply terminal. It's just very situational. Air is still very powerful and I've seen a 65+ scythe killstreak
People who make tutorial videos always forget to say one thing: They're incredibly lucky. I mean, in every video I see it's like there are no AA weapons in the game. And there are so many people who say to shoot a tank from behind but it's almost impossible to get behind one because there are loads of AA behind them. Everyone seems to spawn an aircraft and just get out and get loads of kills. When I fly, I almost die instantly after 1 kill. How do you get a decent amount of kills while flying???
can you film your hands when doing the maneuvers so it is easier to understand. p.s if it is to much work then don't do it because you have a life as well.
This is the best PS2 flying video I've seen; hands down. I hope you'll keep posting stuff of the same quality. Good job !
I’m waiting on my new pc to arrive before I play this myself, but I’ve watched a few video guides and these seem like some of the better ones. You seem knowledgeable about the game and your explanations are fairly clear and detailed.
Thanks a lot, spent quite a long time on this one so I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This video didn't show any tips/guide on how to land. I have lots of trouble landing on any aircraft.
Easy to land with a VS scythe
pull up the nose and hold s
nose and back on the same level, if you are really high, hold S and Ctrl to leave and let go of 10m sec while holding Ctrl. Well done, you landed: D
control man. press control,.
Slowly hover over the landing pad, and when you are level, just let yourself float down onto where you're landing :)
You've got a knack for making effective voice-over guides. Nice one.
Also you can use the afterburner + sharp turns (with good timing) to dodge a lock-on missile if you're too high in the air to find cover. Just thought that was worth mentioning :s it is a pretty reliable way to 'counter'
You are a very talented pilot! I am new was looking for some tips. Thank you!
Cheers!
Thanks SgtHaho! Dont worry about it, I've been pretty busy myself so not much time to stream recently.
Yeah, I was worried it might be a little loud, thanks for the feedback!
There is yes, basically fast banking turns and bursts of speed can help you dodge it, my next flight guide will cover this :)
you're an awesome pilot, sadly you lack loyalty to the TR
NC!
What the breaker pods seriously can kill with some rockets a MBT in the past????!?!?!?!?
That was awesome and really helpful! ^^ I hope to get on one of your streams soon! :D
These guides are extremely useful, thank you for posting. I noticed you have not released a new video in a very long time. Do you have any plans for future guides?

Damn I would hate to think I got the jump on someone like you. *Dip behind the mountain*, 'Where the fuck did he go?' *emerges* 'Oh fuck...'

Very nice. Any Mossy tutorials real soon? Also, to your experience what ESF and ESF weapon do you think is best? ...P.S> lol at A2A use.
More of these videos please they are really helping me :) thank you
Holy shit man. You're an awesome pilot!
do you use afterburners while you basestrafe? I can't seem to get it down >< btw your vid has helped me alot :) I'd like to thank you for that. thumbs up for you bro :D
Ian can you please tell me when your usual streaming times are because i can never seem to catch it?
Binbag :)
I get this question a lot and I really don't know how to help people on it since I can't replicate the problem. I think it could be that I have a gaming mouse (high DPI and such). I use the G700 Logitech so that could be the issue, if you are using a non-gaming mouse that is.
I'll try to look into this more and make a video to help you guys out!
were you trying to do the skyrim stormcloak accent or something? It does sound pretty clear though.
English never was my strong point, but I think "how many players aircraft can be targeted by" so as to say that there are many players that can target aircraft is still correct. Yeah, it does just require a bit more situational awareness, of when it is and isn't appropriate to engage. My PC is also kind of sluggish, so that might do it as well :\ Thanks for the tip!
I prefer using light assault when flying any kind of air vehicle so I can eject and live.
Daniel W. Unfortunately, it's not even a matter of opinion that Engineer is the superior ESF class. No pro pilot ever goes light assault.
Lystephe Vayardi Ye ye I know now. That was 6 months ago. But it still feels cool as shit when you end the fight by shooting the sundy with rocket pods and then jumping out and C4'ing it.
is there any way to outmaneuver a lock when I've got no cover, eg. when I'm high up in the air?
is there any way to outmaneuver a locked on missile?
I'm actually testing this right now with Mosquito and Scythe, I'll be making individual Scythe and Mosquito certification guides soon and let you know :)
What controls do you use for aircrafts? Or do you use a controller/joystick? Great guide btw :)
Well made vid Thanks for uploading.
Nice bridge maneuver.
Rockmann
im amazed, you have the best piloting combat skills.
Excellent aircraft skills man.
What do you say at 3:20 because i hear keep off their flight trails, but if i hear that correctly then my question is why?
cheers
My problem when i aim and shoot i start doing kind of like half a barrel roll and crash any tip for balance?
Excellent video tutorial. Thank you for the upload!
i dont get it, if i use the mouse i cant turn and roll as fast as this video, my aircraft moves at 50% of the speed i see here...only by using the arrow keys can i roll fast but its hard to aim since the keys are too sensitive...how can you make mouse flight so sensitive? (i already have it maxed out in the options)
is this still the best weapon setup for the rocket on the infantry or has it been nerfed again in 2018?
Once I get my internet fixed, I'm really really excited to train myself to be a good Galaxy Pilot :D With how beautiful this game is, and how intense and large scale, it should be awesome
To fly like that on 1:20 u need to upgrade it to hovering right?
Great video once again Ian, maybe even I may learn to fly a bit now ;D
Are you flying with mouse or joystick? Which is easier?
awesome guide! Keep up the good work! :)
Shotgun Reavers. Oh, how I despise them.
What airframe you used in this video?
Holy shit man those skills.
ive tried turning my dpi way up and the sens in game way up to no avail to try and make these fast turns my mouse dpi is 6400 when i put it all the way up its like their is a slight delay only when im flying on rolls and turns
The Purples aircraft looks like cylon ships from Battlestar Galactica
that was brilliant ian it was a good vid and very useful
you're right, I feel like a tool for calling you out on that and being wrong, haha. sorry. if you don't already, use third person view when not trying to line up shots, it helps with the situational awareness a bit. but if you look at my channel's only planetside2 video, you'll see that I'm a failure at piloting XD just have a few pro friends.
if you need some tips on improving your fps in planetside 2 without upgrading hardware give me a pm, i went from 15fps in large battles to 25-35
Nice video, would like to see more...
I'd rage a bit less if there were reliable ways to counter them. The recharge on flares is ridiculously long, and with how many players aircraft can be targeted by (other aircraft, skyguards, tanks with anti-air, stationary anti-air, Burster maxes), it's not really much fun to be flying in PS2
that music in the background its the remixed NC theme? cool where can i get it.
It's not a remix. It's a original New Conglomerate Theme from PlanetSide 1 :)
Daimon The Frey cool
i know, haven't seen you in a while, and im really busy with school right now
Great vid Ian
helpful as always :)
Hey Bro, really good video, great stuff
Will you be getting a PS4? My friends and I are forming a squad and joining the TR.We want to join a outfit, but I will command the squad. We would love to join you :)
IT sounds like you should be doing nature documentaries or something.
Finally, something useful!
Great flying just great
It would be helpful if you would say the action that you are doing, and not what you are pressing on the keyboard. I've changed (reassigned) a lot of keys, and have no idea what control your space bar does, or any other key you speak of.
+ptick16 Do you even play this game? Even a newbie understands what he's saying....

It could be as simple as listing his key assignments for aircraft in the description area for the video.
The ironic part about this whole issue, is that I'm an aircraft mechanic by trade.
ptick16 This game isn't anywhere near other games, it's foolish to juxtapose them in the first place!

i cant for the life of me aim with esf`s the weird acceleration feel makes it so hard
Hey FSpirit, I do remember, you ain't been in my stream in forever! :P
Nice Pilot Skills , Nice Video :)
ahh these clips are awesome
Excellent video. Thanks. Miller MCY
Whats the name of that vehicle?
I don't get how to do the 180 turn.
you need a mouse with a high level of DPI and your vehicle mouse turn speed needs to be between 30 & 60 *the lower the number the higher accuracy with the AV turret but at cost of being able to turn your aircraft or magrider or base turrets... the higher the turn speed means better maneuverability but increased difficulty with twitch aiming and less accuracy with AV turret... but if your turn speed with mouse is between 30 to 60 you can adjust with practice in the VR Zone...
--180 Change Step-- Any Air Frame for ASF
Roll on your back then push forward and you will perform a 180 change step. *Dont hold space... it will make your turn slow and sluggish*
--180 Dime Turn Spiral Reaver-- 180 Quarter Turn Spiral Mossy-- *that purple thing cant do it*
to do a dime turn spiral spin out *remember all flying craft turn slowly horizontally and turn even slower at slow speeds but maneuver rapidly vertically no matter the speed. The Reaver especially, can almost do a 360 back flip while sitting still.

--360 Dime Turn Complete Spiral (Reaver)-- *No other craft can do it*

I'm actually from Liverpool, north west! Just want to use this comment to say more videos are coming soon guys!
I call 'base strafing' close air support.
Great Guide Ian!
Maybe I will not crash into my own team mates as much now! >.>

Why can't the Engineer pull out his nanite repair gun while in the "plane", and just point it at the cockpit
great video keep them coming ..
why is it everytime i take off i crash a few moments later lol

Very impressive
By the way I could really use a video on avoiding anti-air and increasing survivability
Extremly good video!
can you film your hands when doing the maneuvers so it is easier to understand.
p.s if it is to much work then don't do it
because you have a life as well.
Jesus Christ. Are we even playing the same game? Godlike air skills.
