I definitely think you're right to a degree. There should be a subtle power difference for weaponry, but not too much because when mouse sensitivity is maxed, maneuverability isn't a huge difference between the ESF's. Reavers also have the fastest cruise speed when you nurse the afterburners due to their slow rate of afterburner decay.
It's a good thing that they've added the VS training area so we can fully practise.

The future for you looks bright my friend. Your PS2 flying tutorials are literally the best ones out there atm. Continue to produce this quality content and, with this game shaping up to become huge, expect to become a self-sustaining TH-cam celebrity :-)
Much like what LevelCap gaming has become for the BF3 community.
The first part of his previous tutorial covers the mouse controls.
I thought the mouse controls are pretty good, though i prefer using a joystick.
Thats mostly because it has more "fighter pilot flair" though.
I think both control methods are pretty much on par in PS2.
Holy crap, I already was really enjoying flying due to the freedom of movement but this just completely takes it to the next level. You're the man, Ironfist!
in your banking turn video you said to press a or d in the opposite direction of the bank(banking right you press a). In this video, when doing the bank turn as part of the reverse menouver, you say to press a or d WITH your bank ( banking right, press d).
The Scythe, the "pancake fighter", is the easiest to shoot at depending on the angle.
Wrel mentions in his other video that there is a certain sound que that let's you know when you can start the reverse maneuver but it can only be heard from a 3rd person view, if I remember correctly he says it makes a different sound for all of the esfs that sound like the air is 'rumbling'. Well also mentions that when you tilt your esf he says wait for gravity to start pulling you down and then you can start to ascend or ascend and afterburner in the direction you want to go. Hope this helps for the people that are struggling.
You can also use the airbrake and upward thrust for the reverse maneuver. :)
"...just practice at home"
*buys a reaver off e-bay*
*gets scammed and goes broke*
:'(
In this vid you tell to press the key of the direction your banked in (a for left, d for right) in the other video about the banking turn you tell the opposite.
It's easier to do this maneuver in a Reaver because it has the greatest thrust and keeps the most of its inertia when turning.
I used a variant of this, but this is really nice when you get the hang of how to use the thrusters in the end.
Hey... just letting you know, I was JUST able to do this maneuver in game, and it was AWESOME! I could almost feel the surprise in my opponents flying as I very suddenly turned the tables on him.
if you are having trouble doing this, i found a much easier, if slightly less effective way of flying backwards. just simply holding S like normal for about 1-2 seconds will bring your thrusters down, then mouse so that your nose is pointing perfectly upwards, then hold shift and space and the same time and you rocket directly backwards. downsides is that you can't really see anything and it takes a second to set up during which you will be moving pretty slow.
Hello out there, fellow Auraxians!
I am trying to learn how to fly a Scythe. I have played this magnificent game for around 200 hours, and recently opened my eyes for the massive amount of fun there is to be had in an ESF. I do however suck quite a bit at flying, so if anyone out there would help me learning maneouvres, aiming etc., it would be greatly appriciated! I play VS on Miller EU server, you can add me with the tag "Abrigar".
I post this comment here in hopes of a friendly "Ace" pilot will learn me some tricks to enjoy this amazing game even more :)
See you on the battlefield!
everyone deserves to know man.. this is coming from one of the 'actually good pilots'
Yeah, if you know where the missile is coming from, fly in its general direction at full afterburner. Once the missile passes you (you're not supposed to fly directly at it obviously), it will lose lock and fly off. This takes practice because it's hard to figure out where the missile is coming from.
Thanks for this tip! You got a new sub! Just wondering though, are you going to make any liberator tutorials/tips/gameplay?
I am sort of getting it. Man this is going to take me a long time to learn, but I can see how useful it is.
now, I've chosen to be a sort of pilot in PS2 so i rarely use tanks or anything ground, its either the Mosquito, Libby, or Galaxy(i will go infanty if the time is right). And i thought i was a good pilot after watching this i was completely amazed at what i could do with the Mosquito i added the best gun, and rocket pods and practiced this maneuver a few times and now i can kill my enemies more efficiently and quicker without using all my time repairing or using all my pods on 1 enemy, Thanks!!
Eliminating runways are one of the hurdles facing the advancement of aircraft in most, or all, respects. VTOL is a big advantage and I could certainly see aircraft in a game set into a setting like Planetside 2 having an advanced take on VTOL abilities. Think of them as advanced helicopters and not jets.
Now, if you were forced into a first-person view in all vehicles, like on Hardcore in BF3, that would be an interesting equalizer/skill hurdle for vehicle combat.
He finally Fucking tells you at 4:45
lol i recognize your your voice. You are the guy that makes a lot of troll videos. But this one is actually good! Thumbs up!!!
I don't understand. In your banking tutorial video you say press a or d that's in the opposite direction in which you banked, but in this video you say press a or d in the same direction in which you banked? Which is it?
You don't have to equip hover stability to do it, you can do it without any airframe equipped and also you can do it without using the afterburner ...afterburning gives you more speed resulting in a wide angle that's all :)
I want more maneuvers like this :D
I have speed 2 and i just did reverse, it sure is doable with any airframe, simply practice a little with 3rd person view, and remember to keep turning when you hit afterburner key
You're like some sort of fucking saint. I've been using your videos for a guide on advanced flight maneuvers - haven't quite gotten the hang of banking turns and reverse maneuvers yet but with your videos at least I feel like I have some idea of what I'm shooting for, now. Thanks!
guys, experimenting, it turns out that is you turn anyway but down while preforming the maneuver, you end up using your thrusters like normal. so you must turn down
eh, it depends on the pilot. The reaver is slow both speedwise and to react, but for example the Mosq, has insane acceleration and will plow you into a mountain if youre not constantly aware of your surroundings.
Impressive flying, how long did you train those maneuvers?
you dont have to be in 3rd person to do the move and keep track of the enemy, get a good headset and you can hear where he is flying
pure legend, thanks for all the help
I've been flying since the Planetside 2 tech test in August so I've had a few months to practice ;)
Although I actually picked it up real quick because a lot of PS1 flying mechanics transferred over.
Thanks man
any tips for timing in scythe? Im having hard time knowing where the thrusters go down. I have max hover btw
Man, that Vortek rotary used to be silly OP.
That's pretty sweet! But could you have another person watching you do it like you did for the banking turn video? Having two perspectives helps see how it is supposed to look.
Great tutorial! I've tried doing the maneuver but cant seem to stop quick enough for the burners to point down in time for me to hit the up thrust.
i find that when i try to do the turn, my thrusters go horizontal after the 1st second of afterburner. How do you get yours to stay vertical and in a down-facing direction like in the video?
You should make it more visible to get to your other videos. I know you have the links but some thing in the video it shelf to show a link is available because youtube like to turn off my annous. I think this would help to grow your ch.
Keep up the good work
Been trying them out, I like dogfight for faster turns etc (generally better at tracking the target) but Hover is good for slowing faster and doing maneuvers easier
Don't forget to mention sensitivity.
Settings > Keybindings > Aircraft. Learn them all, and bind "get out" to backspace so you don't accidentally hit it when you're half a kilometre above the ground.
Could just be me being dumb but in the video on the banking turn the instruction was to press A or D in the opposite direction from the roll. In this video you say it should be the same direction. Guess i'll try both and see what works. Apologies if i've misunderstood.
air reverse maneuver game is lie propaganda to force players to kill nations.
What is nation?
Humans born without nationality, born without fascism, nationalization in childhood make them.
False value, false enemy, false nation definition make false enemy, destroy value of life.
Nationalist kleptocracy created fa.
Wikipedia false nation definition changed always.
They kill for nation, they not know what nation is.
Many program errors.
Slow computer, small fire frequency.
Support nationalist kleptocracy value system, that created fa.
Game economy based on killing nations, nationalalists kleptocracy economy false value false enemy.
Religious war worshippers hilrugendacademy free slavery reunite separate nationalists.
Great video. However I would suggest that in the future you show us how to do something first, then show us what it's used for (except for something like a 30 second montage of seeing it in action). If you don't do that, can you include a link that allows us to skip ahead to seeing its explanation? I've watched this video a couple of times now and it is annoying having to skip around to find where you start explaining how to do this. Thanks
Reaver: hard hitting, more armor, slower guns, speed, and manuverability, not to mention huge.
Mossie: Tiny, superfast, low damage and high gun speed
Scythe: Middle ground basically, maybe with faster bullet speeds.
Hi LMS, what would be the best performance upgrade for a2a combat in your opinion? (Dogfighting/Hover/Racer)? Thanks and your videos are great!
Is the reaver's hitbox bigger than the scythe's?
It doesn't feel that way
So after watching your videos I was like "alright im gonna be a good pilot now!"; found an enemy Reaver and ended up nosediving into an antenna. I think I may just be a bad pilot ='(
I had 2-3 hours of practice trying to do a reverse maneuver in a scythe with no luck. I mean I could turn around just fine, but the craft would either be going forward, or completely stalled.
I made a lvl 1 NC toon and went into VR, set my reaver up just like my scythe, and then proceeded to fly backwards all over the god damn map first try.
This i s Late reply.. You mind sparing me your moves on like how to reverrese in NC?
Great tutorial man I learned a lot from you so far :-) As a pro pilot can you tell me what aircraft is the best? I know mosquito can be better for dogfight but you proved that any of them is a deadly weapon in right hands :-) Everyone is better in something than others. So maybe I will ask it another way, what aircraft do you enjoy the most? :-) Have a nice day :-)
*holds up the sarcasm sign* there you go, he was being sarcastic, people generally see reaver as the best esf for things like this, its harder to pull off in a scythe for example
I respect your skill as a pilot in PS2 200% more than any other because you do it in a Reaver, clearly the hardest plane to use!
Subscribed keep the tutorials!
I've inboxed you a fresh PS2 beta code ;)
Enjoy playing bro.
wait until they're fully in vertical position, not during the transistion. also they will stay vertical if your aircraft is pitching down
Thanks I will check that out.
you're missing pitch down - the 'banking turn' part
Pull multiple reverse maneuvers in a dogfight, feel like a badass, lose track of altitude, plow into the ground :(
I notice you don't seem to use anti lock-on flares, could you do a video on missile avoidance?
Scythe is kinda the hardest cuz you can't see the thrusters shift towards the ground as in Reaver and Mosi
Is your new Flight School series going to do an update on this? I started playing after the fact, but inertia got killed in the first patch or something, making this not as effective.
Its as easy to do in scythe as in any other aircraft, just timing is a bit different.
And once you try doing upwards manuver against good player you will be dead by the time you want to do U-turn.
This isn't too unlike the maneuvers you can pull with the helicopters in BF3; except this one doesn't immediately send you straight into the ground when you go upside down, lol.
This is actually very nice, but I'm proud because I discovered it by myself before watching your video :D
actually, the only downside of the reaver is the larger hitbox. but they have awesome nose guns and the afterburner ability... i find the scythe the harder plane to use :)
I can't wait to use this on soltech lol btw wouldn't this help in avoiding missiles?? I realized a few sharp turns get rid of missiles but since I can't see when the missiles are close its kinda hard but if u do or have good timing :) Loool I took out a lot of ppl like that
I just inboxed you a fresh Planetside 2 Beta Key.
Enjoy bro
Sorry, meant to say your forward thrust to 0, not your vertical thrust. You want vertical thrust, lol. Oops.
You got an extra beta code? Been wanting to play for ages!! :(
Good news is 10 more days! Can't wait
Oh my shit, thank you so much!!! Where did you get it from? :O
I'm having issues with getting the thrusters to point downwards, it feels like it takes me one or two seconds longer than any video I've ever seen, and it will only work if I'm upside down the entire time, which means I'm a sitting duck for vortek fire for 2-4 seconds.
Thans really great guides dude
Mosquito has faster cruising speed and turning, scythe has better hover and is a smaller aircraft to hit, reaver has slightly better DPS and faster afterburners.
I can't seem to do this my thrusters will always just snap forwards instead of facing downwards. I always just end up boosting forwards.
Great tutorial!
Check SpadarFaar's channel, his first tutorial is on key-binds, and it requires remapping your vertical thrust to zero key so that it doesn't do that. He describes it in his first vertical maneuvering video.
this game is AMAZING!
TIP! train in the VR training!
What control setup do u use for flying? mouse flying in this game is very bad IMO, any suggestions are welcome
a clip of vortek cannon can take out an ESF? why doesn't it work for me? I can only get the enemy's health down to half with a vortek cannon full clip. Did they nerf it recently?
It's powered by vertical thrust.
Love theese tutorials
How long can someone hold an ESF in reverse?
I have seen a pilot fly in reverse and stay that way for about 10 seconds in a circle.
how do you slow down so quick? holding S and waiting for my thrusters to change position just isnt practical
1 new sub 😃😃 but do u hold space bar
qft, no visual indicator to show you if you will burn vertical thrusters or not.
The reaver is fucking overpowered.
Air Hammer is ridiculously OP, and ontop of that , they have more base hp than the mosquito, yet they are FASTER than the mosquito without any airframes due to their afterburner and can handle just as well as the mosquito.
Ironfist, i challenge you to do the legendary reverse manouvre in the liberator with its afterburners. Do you accept the challenge?
More air maneuvers!
I can't really get that much momentum backwards, its more like getting upwards then backwards
Depends how u play mate, hover is pretty good but i prefer the dogfight one personally :D
you helped me alot
If your ONLY ability to beat an enemy ESF was pulling the air reverse, and them being on an even-footing with you means you are upset and unable to dominate, then you're NOT a good pilot.
You say there are multiple ways of doing this, and you just found this to be the easiest. Any chance of seeing other methods?
So what is your favorate aircraft and why?
I find it to be a piece of cake in the mossie, but almost impossible in the scythe. It just ends up going forward, which often results in me dying upon impact with the ground -_-
I can't seem to get the thrust from my afterburners to push me backwards. It's just creating speed forward.
yeh point vertically with ur nose its really hard dont be disheartened if u cant get it straight away im have trouble doing but keep trying!
Is this do-able with every airframe? I have speed 3, is that the wrong one for this?
