tail using the backwards flight successfully is with the use of cover to keep from getting shot in the moments it actually takes to turn around, and get situated. Even then there are some pilots who have the skill to keep up with me and completely stop the reversal from happening. Also It was intended to be in the game and not a bug at all. If you watch the intro videos for planetside 2 it even explains how to do it :]
True. It's better to learn to fly in first person though, as you'll always be ready to line up a shot at a split second's notice without switching cameras and re-aligning yourself (since the perspective changes). It also gives you a better spatial awareness (with practice), so you can "feel" where a mountain is behind you or beside you, without looking. Some people argue it gives you a higher FoV, but personally i use my ears, i hear where an enemy is, your ears have "360 fov" lol.
Oh sorry, so when you have a jet chasing you, you can flip back and get not their tail and shoot them. And against ground forces use it if u really have to get out of there instead of flying forward. I hope this helps
0:40 he's facing north, tilting east and giving a big burn of speed EAST. 0:42 he continues rotating west then south, carrying the momentum EAST and NORTH. It's not a bug nor is it stupid. His aircraft is simply following the momentum and thrust his engines generate.
You should make a video explaining/showing how to fire two breaker rockets at the same time. I haven't seen any videos on it, nor have I heard anyone discuss it. I was going to do it, but my voice doesn't sound good on youtube :P.
Someone who gets on your six does have an extremely huge advantage. If they know what they are doing it's next to impossible to do anything about it. You can't simply stop and then them turn backwards. It would give them a good amount of time to empty enough shots to kill you easily. If someone does manage to stop and turn around quick enough to stop you mid-air I would report them immediately, as there is some foul play happening. The only times I've successfully managed to ditch someone on my
It's not a bug nor is it stupid. It's physics. Real helicopters and vtols can't handle the airframe stress currently, but it's not really backwards thrust. What's happening is that you thrust in the direction you call "backwards" by tilting the engines, then you ROTATE to face the direction you are flying AWAY from, giving the IMPRESSION that you fly backwards. But you're not really flying backwards, you're coasting in the opposite direction your engines faced a second ago.
I have them on 1, 4, and my mouse wheel. The trouble I have with the mouse wheel though is that I tend to over scroll it giving me the wrong weapon lol. Getting better at not doing it though.
I'm having so much trouble with this... I have a mossy with the first cert for dog fighting. When I try to do this I end up facing the sky. I can't seem to actually keep the angle right at all, and I still am not sure what it is I'm actually trying to do with the key combination XD
superdahoho Hah, I've been out of the air game for a LONG time. If you're on PC whenever you get in hover mode you want to STAY in hover mode by pitching down. Just keep pitching down, and using vertical thrust and you will travel backwards in circles around your target. The moment you start pitching up though you will lose hover. Toy around with that.
What? Sorry but i dont understand much what u said.. Tho i managed it and now i know how do it! finally.. but dont get how use it in real fight... or when firing at ground forces
I've been looking thousands of "backwards flying" videos with the same content but I press all the same keys and just can't get it, not even close to the movement shown in the vid.. So I have to ask, is it still possible to do right now 2015 Oct 7th?
1. Press and hold S until thrusters are pointing down 2. Wait for Gravity to start pulling on you 3. Roll left (or right) while pitching up, while you are sideways press and hold Space 4. To use thruster going up, keep holding S and Space, then press Shift 5. When you want to do an inward sideways loop, pitch down while sideways
+Granz Yes, as Heiz said it's still possible. I actually just logged into the game last night for the big charity stream Scourgeoftheserver and kudochop did for a fallen friend. Everything flying wise felt the same. There are a lot of lock ons, but being an air to air pilot in the game comes with a lot of down time. You have to kind of work the map borders and only push forward when your faction is taking a base. While you do that stay HIGH to avoid the locks, and only dive when you're confident you can clip a plane pretty safely. If you want decent profit you want to shoot for downing around 30 ESF's in an hour. If you can get the kills along with the planes that's great! Do that consistently for awhile and you'll rake in xp like a boss. edit: The days of solo camping an enemies warpgate seem gone. The flight game is much more passive now. Was able to keep up the normal 30+ ESF kills an hour though. Just gotta be careful. If flying in the air for a good ten minutes doing nothing doesn't suit you then flying might be hard to enjoy.
err it for sure saves me more times than not. What's your name on waterson? I'm interested :p I really don't get shot down that much. I really don't think it's a glitch. I'll try to find the video for you?
+TheHeizMeister “Heiz” Dark Archon Killer Oh wait, ummm pitch up while holding S, then hold Space then press Shift while still looking at the sky, you will fly backwards
DONE! Ha ha truly I don't have the voice for youtube either, I'm sure most who watch these videos will be something like this "WTF I'm not taking advice on flying from a 12 year old!". When I'm actually 20...will be 21 in about 2 months :p
That's not fucking backwards. I've been in a dogfight where I was going straight with afterburner at a reaver and the bastard kept flying backwards and shooting me all the time WTF!
I find it to be gay and lead to the opposite of an exciting fight. Someone who legit gets on your six should have an advantage over you. It's something that can only be accomplished through a burden of knowledge control mechanic. Flying backward itself is a bug and was never intended to be there in the first place. It should get removed, patched out immediately in a hotfix style update.
Wizzturd, thank you so much, i got the hang of it after +-20 minutes :D still working on it in the new Virtual training room ^^ thx again

lol thanks man. Quality is probably a bit better on youtube than twitch. Tried to up it a bit yesterday though!
You deserve more subs, so it subbed!

It actually leads to some exciting fights. Not to mention it's an excellent defense when someone is on your six :D

Lol wtf was that noise I wonder.
he farted

I want to watch you stream man when are you usually on?

Now I wish I was on your server!
The trick is to do the manoever real quick in 3rd person, then go back to first person
How do you fly in a strate line backwards
Oh, I see. That makes sense.
in non combat or acrobatic situations (eg evading)
what sensitivity do you use?
how do I fly in circles while keeping the target infront of me?

why would you not? it gives you a higher FOV, enabling you to see potential enemies or obstacles.
1600 DPI on my mouse, and .44 in game.
Why not practise in the VR Environment?
Me too. Maybe i need that glowing keyboard :)
What? Sorry but i dont understand much what u said.. Tho i managed it and now i know how do it! finally.. but dont get how use it in real fight... or when firing at ground forces
lmao, that is why post commentary was probably the better idea :p

And yes it still works nothing changed with the controls -_-
Ty I'll give it a last try. Btw, it's almost impossible to fly without having to sneak into the trees avoiding the LOCKs, so fucking annoying!

Wizzturd Yes I'm actually trying other game styles right now hehe, I'm sick of lock ons and super upgraded planes that have ALSO lock ons u_u
err it for sure saves me more times than not. What's your name on waterson? I'm interested :p I really don't get shot down that much.

How do you fly backwards what controls
Erm... You can't.
+TheHeizMeister “Heiz” Dark Archon Killer Oh wait, ummm pitch up while holding S, then hold Space then press Shift while still looking at the sky, you will fly backwards
I dont get how do the Backwards Flying..:( it dont work
Alright it helped when I upped the DPI on my rat7 to 1600 and reduce my in game sensitivity to 44 XD It was at 1500 before at 80% in game.
flying in 3rd person just completely fucks up my aiming and my flying
So in first person aim almost strait up slow down then walla
wich dpi has yout mouse???
atm 800 dpi. At the time of this video like 4200.
are you able to aim with 4200 dpi??
Das Taurin Back then not very well. The lower DPI is much nicer.
This video was made before it existed
I actually even use 1600 and 38 in game :p everyone is different. Find out what fits you best :D
Thanks!!!!
hm I don't know. I prefer to not crash my butt into a friendly liberator when doing the air reverse.
I wish I could do this
The outfit is still going?
Nope, I play with Future Crew on Connery Vanu now.
ok, thanks! But The problem is that I live and play in EU....
William Hagström that is a far off place!
Yes it is! :/
Practice, practice, practice
How to take down a fully loaded liberator
yea but even doing that i fail
nice vod you voice sounds completely different :D anyway see you at the sream
NC Waterson as Cheecho :p
U mad bro? Wizz is a flying maestro lol
i fly how a normal person would through the cockpit
I spend a lot of time in the cockpit as well, but you gotta learn the reverse eventually in this game.
Learn to do this in a lib, THEN get at me.
GET ON MY LEVEL
DONE! Ha ha truly I don't have the voice for youtube either, I'm sure most who watch these videos will be something like this "WTF I'm not taking advice on flying from a 12 year old!". When I'm actually 20...will be 21 in about 2 months :p

well i dont fly like this
most people
ram it :p
who the fuck flies in third person??????
troll harder bro you mad.

Backward flying should be removed from the game. Fucking shit's stupid to see.
