They say it was his suit I guess mistranslating it? But I think other loose material has noted that in reality Vader inside the helmet is speaking at a volume no louder than a whisper, so that means that when he did that, he was actually quiet af, due to the internal damage, vocal cords, lungs, even stomach, so how he's able to speak and whether the suit had to translate for him is up for debate as at the end of EP VI he speaks at an audible volume just fine, it could be because before the bacta treatments that Rogue one mentions about, he's not anywhere near the process of healed yet.
Which would explain he would probably need some form of translation active, an AI voice program to speak for him in the early stages, until his vocals at the least healed

It’s weird that palpatine didn’t even let anakin’s burn wounds heal, he just took him straight to the operating table and stuck his open wounds and freshly burnt torso into a suit of armor and told him to get back to work
Palpatine is twisted. He wants him to remain subservient. Weakening him and forcing him to adapt a different style, while also still making him feel tons of pain is a way of doing that.

And then we are shown in canon that he can use one, though only for minor healing. Vader actually prefers his MK1 ensemble because the pain and feeling of isolation binds him closer to the Dark Side.
I guess theres kind of a silver lining, that being that third degree burns are so severe that the pain is actually dulled due to nerve endings in the skin being destroyed. I mean he'd still be in terrible pain (to say the least), but not as bad as it could be technically speaking.

This makes it easier to hear his different breathing sounds for in/out breaths. The damaged Vader breath sounds awfully like scuba gear underwater. His suit is basically a mobile BIPAP machine. But I read somewhere that the Emporer purposely made it so that he’s in pain 24/7 to keep him off balance allowing him to be controlled easier. The Emperor knew Vader was more powerful than he was so he had to have an advantage.
Such a great explanation for a fictional character in a fictional world for a surgery that never happened. It’s almost like anyone could make up any explanation and it would still be valid.
I thought the most interesting part of his death is.. the fact his suit is purpose-built to keep Vader in a state of constant agony, because Annikyns evil powers only really activate when he's enraged, otherwise he was mostly good. So instead of manipulation they used constant torture.. Which is why he gets so angry when being awoken, because when he rests in his semi water machines, its literally the only time hes not in constant agonising pain. Such a gift from the Emporer, right?
Well, the near “fatal death” didn’t actually left him WITHOUT vocal cords or a so deep damage at his throat so that he truly couldn’t speak, you can see (or more precisely hear) him speaking and the mixture of his natural voice and the one from the mask at the final chapter of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
Darth Vader was nearly killed, so he was almost fatally injured. As a result, he virtually lost his life. It's safe to say he was barely alive. But luckily, he had a spark of life left, although he was close to dead. Just about he was dying, he was saved at the jaws of death.
If you wondering how they made it for the movies, it was accomplished by someone taking a microphone and putting it in a scuba regulator and having a man named Ben Burtt (a sound designer for Star Wars) breathe into it
Actually the droids used inferior materials to make the emergency suit and as a result when it was being placed upon his body it further tore into some of the remaining skin, over time his flesh actually became a part of the suit, being incredibly painful to even move.
Don't forget that the suit also makes him fatally vulnerable to any of Palpatine's force lightning. In The Jedi Returns he died because the life support system and likely multiple cybernetic organs broke from being tazed when lifting Palpatine.
I think Type 85-IIM was later developed into type 96 which served as a stop-gap solution for pla before the more advanced type-99 was finished, the tank itself though was designed for export only
Fun Fact: The Respirator is actually from the old republic, not like darth Malgius's, though it was more like a common inhaler at the time so it was so old it often failed

I thought the most interesting part of his death is.. the fact his suit is purpose-built to keep Vader in a state of constant agony, because Annikyns evil powers only really activate when he's enraged, otherwise he was mostly good.
So instead of manipulation they used constant torture..
Which is why he gets so angry when being awoken, because when he rests in his semi water machines, its literally the only time hes not in constant agonising pain.

Well, the near “fatal death” didn’t actually left him WITHOUT vocal cords or a so deep damage at his throat so that he truly couldn’t speak, you can see (or more precisely hear) him speaking and the mixture of his natural voice and the one from the mask at the final chapter of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
Darth Vader was nearly killed, so he was almost fatally injured. As a result, he virtually lost his life. It's safe to say he was barely alive. But luckily, he had a spark of life left, although he was close to dead. Just about he was dying, he was saved at the jaws of death.
And to think that iconic voice was of James Earl Jones!!

Actually the droids used inferior materials to make the emergency suit and as a result when it was being placed upon his body it further tore into some of the remaining skin, over time his flesh actually became a part of the suit, being incredibly painful to even move.
Don't forget that the suit also makes him fatally vulnerable to any of Palpatine's force lightning.
In The Jedi Returns he died because the life support system and likely multiple cybernetic organs broke from being tazed when lifting Palpatine.

Nothing about the suit was to make anything easier, or to help him do anything. Death would have been mercy, the suit purposefully prolongs his suffering to bring him closer to the dark side.
