I have my issues with Arlo as well but I have to jump in and say that he never said miyamoto hates story. He said it seems like he doesn't care of the paper mario story due to the fact he said that mario wasn't allowed to have new partners and that many of the monster designs weren't allowed to have unique designs. Which to be fair was a bad choice on Miyamoto's fault. And he definitely sees the issue on both sides, he's got good videos on them.
Yeah, I think it’s a bit unfair to pin the negativity on him. He’s had his complaints but he’s not a toxic channel nor does he encourage toxicity. He’s just raised points about what he does/don’t like. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Abit of lore on the box ghosts. Their actually the 4 legendary heros that defeated the shadow queen originally 1000 years ago and were cursed by the shadow queen after they gave up the crystal stars to seal away the shadow queen they turned into "malevolent spirits". However they get around that by giving "curses" that actually help whoever is going to defeat the shadow queen.
Be careful letting fandoms ruin things for you, because there are shitty people in all fandoms. Look at the FromSoft Frombies for example, they are some of the worst nerds out there but I don't think folks should stop playing Dark Souls because of it's toxic gatekeeping following.
In fact, even the modern Paper Mario games have toxic fans of their own. Not all of them mind you, but I've sure as hell seen my fair share of them, doing all kinds of stuff: lumping ALL fans of the classic games (particularly TTYD) as being this one giant toxic mob, defend Sticker Star and Color Splash acting like they're flawless masterpieces (which, let's face the facts, they're really not), and call anyone who criticizes the modern games a "NoStAlGiA bLiNd TtYd FaN wHo CaN't HaNdLe ChAnGe". I've even seen some literally threaten to dox people for criticizing Color Splash even when they were doing so in a more respectful manner. And that's not even getting into when TOK was announced and a TH-camr named SageModeJedi made a really good video where he was voicing his concerns about the game and doing so in a harmless and respectful way, and yet despite this, his video was HEAVILY dislike-bombed with so many people insulting him and calling him toxic for simply voicing his concerns (which, by the way, how is it that when you criticize something that's not out yet you're told "YoU cAn'T jUdGe It", but if you praise it, nobody says a word?). All that really goes to show that for every toxic classic Paper Mario fan, there's a toxic modern Paper Mario fan
@phictionofgrandeur2387 I only beat chapter 6, and the first run-through of the pit of 100 trials at the time of recording, by now I've beaten the game, and those fights were fun
Kid Danger: *wearing his mighty pup movie outfit* I love the Paper Mario from the game cube AND the Paper Mario on the Nintendo Switch. And i never played them!
I enjoyed your video! However, I noticed it’s missing key SEO elements like tags, keywords, and a strong description. These are vital for growing your channel. I can help you with this. Let’s discuss improving your channel performance!
As someone who has never played a single paper, Mario game every before this one I must say that i definitely get all the hype this game is seriously amazing and I’m not even a fan of rpgs aside from the ones made by Toby Fox this game though man is it good like really good also it has Vivian aka best girl and my beloved yes I am a simp bite me 😊💜 Also I find it very hilarious that every single woman that Mario meets automatically want to kiss him man’s got w rizz I’d argue more then normal Mario does
For me, my first paper mario game was color splash, my second one was origami king, my third one was sticker star and I got all those games in the year 2020, then in 2021 I got my fourth paper mario game super paper mario for the wii, my fifth one was paper mario ttyd and played it on my wii via backwards compatibility sense I don't own a gamecube, and played paper mario 64 on my wii u via virtual console before the eshop was closed, and it got to the point where I loved the first 3 games more than the last 3 games even though I did enjoy color splash and origami king and the fact that ttyd got remade on the switch makes me even more happy than I can ever imagine.
Honestly the chapter stories are fun and stuff but I really don’t care for the main plot. Imo Grodus, Beldam and the Shadow Queen are all boring as hell.
Now, I know this game is made for children, but let's be honest; Grodus should've died. It kinda takes from the whole final battle, in my opinion. It would've been a stronger scene to see this game's major antagonist wiped out by the Shadow Queen, a much greater power. Like, Hooktail and Gloomtail were killed off for real, and it seemed likely that Grubba was, too, so how come Grodus getting the axe was too dark to make the cut? I also think that keeping TEC alive just ruins the weight of how well-built up he was going to be set as a tragic character. But in addition to the ridiculous Grodus reveal, what also didn't sit right with me about the epilogue was Beldam suddenly becoming a good person just because the Shadow Queen when reviving the Shadow Queen was Beldam's master plan from the beginning. Unless they were implying she was mind-controlled or influenced in some fashion, they should've done a better job at explaining it. Otherwise, it comes off a bizzare at best and mind-fumblingly dumb at worst because you have to remember: Beldam still verbally abused Vivian and gaslit AND summoned a demon to take over the world. Plus, neither Beldam, Marilyn, nor Doopliss ever get any comeuppance for their actions. And I really do NOT like the forced message of abuse victims going back to abusers just because they're *family* (in the original, at least). It is one of the most toxic messages you can tell to someone, especially victims of abuse, and it feels like a total character regression on Vivian's strong character arc in Chapter 4 when she specifically stated that she would not go back to her family. This wasn't even the first time that Nintendo pushed such a bad message to their players, as they did the same thing with Lillie, Gladion, and their abusive mother in Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. "Who cares if they verbally and physically abused you and gaslit you into feeling terrible! It's all water under the bridge as long as their *family,"* and to that I say, "You can fuck right off with that opinion."
@@Loner098 yeah I agree with all of that, I don’t dislike TTYD but it gets a lot of praise for being dark and kinda deep but does it really count when it undoes a lot of that so it can end with “everyone is happy and friends now, yay! :)”. Not just the main plot either: Hooktail lives, Koops’ dad lives, the drained wrestlers live, Prince Mush lives. None of that is wrong on its own but combined with the main plot, the game definitely has an issue on average of not committing to its dark moments/themes. The only stuff it really sticks to is backstory/lore stuff and the death of the Pure Evil™️ Shadow Queen.
@@jefferyandbob3137 Even Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling was able to focus its darker themes more than TTYD, but I guess that's not really saying much, is it?
Indeed. There are some good character moments like Bobbery grieving, but the main plot is bad. Worst part is the Deus Ex Machina with the Crystal Stars somehow being intelligent enough to go back to their respective places (except chapter 7's conveniently) and do the power of friendship. It was a poor man's Sonic Adventure moment.
"Full on remake" - TTYD on Switch is just a remaster. It is updated code from the original game. It's why some boss, enemies, and environment animations and glitches from the GC version are literal cut and paste the same, because people have already found out it is just updating the original code and engine. Please do research before making a video, cause "full on remake" is "full on ignorance."
@soulcalibrII Why would they change the Bosses or environments? Think for a second. This isn't a Final Fantasy "remake" where they basically made a different game. This is a normal, ground up, Re-Make.
You are the one who should do research before speaking ignorance. Paper Mario The Thousand-Year-Door on Switch actually uses the same Engine as The Origami King, and the game is remade from scratch. Just look at the scenarios, which have been completely reworked and are a huge visual improvement compared to the original game.
Literally every asset in the game is remade. Nothing is simply upscaled. You've had plenty of time to figure this out, though, but clearly you've made up your mind before the game even released and haven't actually bothered to play or look into it. Video games used to be remade like this all the time before things like FF7 and RE2 treated them as completely reimagined versions. Which there's nothing wrong with reimagined games, I love the RE2 remake, but sometimes you just want to play the original game with modern graphics, new music, and quality-of-life updates.
9:17 HOLY FUCK MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The curses are actually blessings in very thin disguise, as the chest demons are the four heroes of yore.

I won't stop comparing new paper mario games to this game. I get its a little toxic but lowering our standards is how we get more sticker star

Nobody will ruin something more than its own fanbase. Nobody else would care that much about a minor detail changing or even notice.
You didn't mention the new bosses, so I'm guessing you didn't fight them. They're the best addition to the remake.

Welp now Ms. Mowz is southern I guess, I can’t un hear it
