Depends on your use, your tires have more responsibility for braking capabilities than most people know. Bigger brakes simply increase the amount of times you can get on the brakes and not get fade and even then, if you have crappy tires you'll lock the brakes up regardless of how big or small they are. As long as you're not repeatedly making pulls and slamming on the brake, most cars stock brake system works just fine. The skinnies he's running up front for tires will get him in an accident before brakes do. Contact patch is a huge factor in braking.
An Army buddy of mine back in 2008 had a Terminator Cobra. It's the only car that has ever scared me. 0-200 in seconds, and it was never fully underneath you. That car will test everything about you as a driver. I was absolutely petrified of that thing every time I drove it. It's an absolutely legendary car that few people seem to know about.
Not really one was over built from factory cobra mustang most leagues for that mean supra fan over hyping that pill of crap can over 1000hp with stock engine
Sean, I love the fact that you feature everyday guys that have garage-built hot rods. Sure, it’s nice to see Roadster Shop’s latest mega-budget build, but I personally enjoy seeing what ordinary “car guys” built with their buddies. Well-done, Sir!
I love the terminators. I was blown away when they came out when I was 20 yrs old and I think it's my favorite body style of all time. Still head turners today.
Well, here is the first Mustang like this I have ever seen......never saw anything like that tear up the road the way this one did .......what a Monster this car is......great shoot!
Ridiculous build, clean and the owner can drive! Respect! I used to have an 04 and with just a ported blower n smaller pulley. My friend had a 700hp 03 whipple with a solid rear. Still my fav Mustang ever.
My stepdad was a GM of a ford dealer in the late 90's-early 00's. It was such a cool time to be a kid kicking around the dealership. I remember when these were being sold new on the lot and I remember watching them roll in 3 brand new Ford GTs when they came out back in the mid 00's. The 2nd gen Lightnings, Cobras, and the Ford GT were something that was just normal to see there at the time and its wild to think about how lucky I was to have been a kid during that time.
Respectfully, The Terminator Cobra in stock form would stomp any stock '69 GM big block car into fine powder as far as performance. But not in the looks department of course.
These videos just make me happy. REAL CAR GUY doing what real car guys love to do. Many props to Shawn for being a true car enthusiast and giving normal car guys there moment in the sun. Awesome to see!
If I was ever going to buy a mustang it would have to be a terminator cobra. Car was way ahead of its time still looks insane. IMO the best mustang ever made.
Owner of a 2006 Mustang GT with Saleen supercharger here. Have seen many 03 & 04 Cobras at shows. Yours is unreal. Way to go 👏. That's what owning a beast is all about 😅
The owner has something very special, I love the 99-04 GT body but this Cobra is pure badass on steroids! The owner is cool as they come because he respects his whip and trusts others to drive it. One of the best vids in the series thus far. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love the channel. Your easy demeanor and conversation really lets the car owners open up and tell the story about their cars. The passion comes through. Thanks!
Wish they made the Terminator for a couple more years at least..but I guess that's part of what makes em special. One of the best sounding modern V8s out there..between the engine and the blower whine. So fucking good.
I have 3 performance cars, all have between 550-800hp, one is a procharged 04 GT. We're used to seeing power numbers like that. The Terminator Cobra was the first modern street car that people had making big power. This was before the modern Hemi existed, back when LS motors were all 300-350hp 5.7s and well before the 5.0. It was the first car that was making over 500hp with bolt ons and the first that could make 800-900hp on a stock short block, 20 years ahead and it's still competitive and still a top dog when they have a Whipple. It's also simple and easy to work on like the 99-04 GT. Basically one of the best cars ever made!
Man that’s so crazy, I literally live in Sun valley. I ALWAYS cruise through foothill. I’ve seen Jay Leno once cruising in his Ford GT. So many cool cars around there. Wish I could’ve seen that car. I have a Challenger hellcat, but that terminator is my dream car, the original hellcat lol. Ever since I had my 99 GT I’ve been wanting one. I love my kitty, but that terminator is jaw dropping.
This car is sick and rips. The look on the passengers face, I get it. When your not driving and in control, it's hard to keep your shit together. Great review.
Miss my 04 2.3L Whipple Cobra, had it decked out. Hooker long tube headers, high-flow H pipe and Magnaflow, Maximum Motorsports fully rear diff cooling kit, with IRS brace, Torsen T2R differential, Spec 3 clutch, lightened flywheel, upgraded heads and cooling mods. Had a bit of a reputation on the Los Angeles highways at night time. Took down Ferraris, Porsche Turbos, ZO6s, gutted big turbo Audi S4, modded Mitsubishi EVOs (big at the time) and much more. Met a lot of cool car people. The one car that smoked me on the freeway was a Mercedes Brabus twin turbo V12 S65. One cool LA night with a tank of race gas on 21lbs of boost I raced a street bike on the freeway and pulled him with witnesses. Ran two pulleys setups, one at 17lbs of boost on 91 and the other at 21lbs of boost on race gas. Road raced it at Willow Springs on 17lbs. The way that Torsen T2R put down the power out of a corner was awesome. I remember when I chose my tuner out in Downey, his hit 9s at Irwindale and was a monster on the dyno with similar mods, just a lot less weight. I ended up selling mine to a Military Officer in San Diego and a few guys on the base knew the car when he drove it on base. What an experience that car was, what a motor, one of the best Cobra Mustangs ever made. Nothing like it.
People mostly make fun of Mustang drivers, this guy is from Stockton too, reminds me of Nate and Nick Diaz. He is the exception for throwing the backend around and pedaling it just right without running into a crowd. He definitely knows how to drive.
I was almost prairie dogging watching this lol Car is nuts, owner has the common sense to know when to back out Real cool of the guy to let someone else take the wheel over for a bit. 151 in the 1/4 is flat moving!
I'm a Chevy guy so no Authority and of course 69s are awesome but this is my favorite Gen of Mustang and a big part of it is remembering when they were new and that exhaust note
Mine is a factory untouched longblock making 850hp and still a T56 as well. Gen5 3.0 Whipple on E85. I’ve been so far 9.52 and 153mph. These cars are simply amazing.
I had a 2003 gt modified my friend had the cobra I think this is the best body style not big like the new models its light and still has the elements of the fox body. Best body style
This is by far the best body style of the Mustang. It was the right size and with the independent rear end, it was able to be setup for track or drag. It's the supra of the American cars.
Proof that you dont need a big block for real power. Good old bulletproof 4.6. One of the fastest cars ive ever ridden in was an infinity Q45 with a Nissan 240ci V8 and could easily do 185MPH.
Some guys don't like this body style Mustang.....I love 'em. This is a primo build. Even stock they're sweet.
First time hearing that…. the New Edge is one of the most iconic body styles ever
All I know that I love cars and this channel ❤ l love it did you see your face my god😂❤
That's right, and it does the mfn snake swerve so well 😊
Own a 03 cobra and absolutely love it. One of the best mustangs ford made
Correction the body is fine. It’s the motor no one likes. You could even the interviewers surprise when he heard he still had the 4.6 still
I like that he kept the manual. Nothing beats the satisfaction of getting that perfect gear shift.
its been manual lol
In the video he says he swapped the oem transmission. Dave asked why he kept it manual for drag racing. He swapped in a better manual trans.
And knowing you’re in control of the beast your driving
Absolutely agree!!!
and if you live in the US having a manual car means most people are not actually capable of stealing it 🤣
Man the 4.6L V8 has a unique sound I've always thought they sounded great especially with exhaust, That's one badass Terminator.
True. Every 4.6 variant sounds amazing regardless of exhaust setup.
@@mathesar I ran American thunder flows on mine. With h pipe. Always hated x pipe to raspy. I like the low rumble

Man, the Terminator was instantly destined to be a modern classic, can't believe they are over 20yrs old now.
Nothing fits the terminator stereotype better than 1000hp and stock brakes
On the face of it, it's pretty idiotic.
and pizza cutter fronts...
Priorities 😂
Remember, brakes just slow u down. Put that money for MORE POWWWWAAAAA!!!!
Skinnies on the street…

That's one vehicle that will never go out of style!
The 03-04 terminator, C6ZR1, and the Toyota supra MK4 are the golden age cars 🔥🔥🔥
Powerful, boosted, stickshift, IRS cars. They make the world go round lol
Agreed.. and IMHO the C6 ZO6 and Dodge Viper GTS should be added to that list ;)
@BoelieNL most definitely brother!!!

The camera does the engine no justice the heads are massive on cobra they sound so good best body style like I said I had 03
I’m not a mustang guy I have a 69 Chevelle but I respect the car and what love and effort the owners put into them.
Respectfully, The Terminator Cobra in stock form would stomp any stock '69 GM big block car into fine powder as far as performance. But not in the looks department of course.
@9ZERO6 i wouldn't say it would that a 454 chevelle it's much closer then you think a half second could be made up on the launch

the lady in the toyota suv at 12:53 sure got an earful 😂
It looks like when they slowed down for the pull the lady was gonna speed past them on the right but the mustang wasnt gonna let that slide
Hard to beat the sound of a terminator. Great car!
Love the channel. Your easy demeanor and conversation really lets the car owners open up and tell the story about their cars. The passion comes through. Thanks!
It was a time when I thought a cobra in this style was the baddest looking, sounding car. A silver one with the chrome wheels is timeless!
Oh yeah
This is BADASS!! Ive had mine for 19 years. Terminator FTW
The Termi is forever a legend. And Tony's Termi is just 🥵.
That's one of the best burnouts on this channel and that's saying something. This car is bad ass.
20 year old beast of a car! One of my favorites for sure. Sounds great
The legend. 2003 cobra. Thank you SVT and john coletti.
