Jodi, Erebus NEEDS to make a premium digital watch! Give the people the watch that Casio refuses to deliver without making it a giant gshock or a special anniversary model
💯I nominate a 100% brushed finish TV case to house a Casio Module 3495 (from the G-Shock GW-M5610U)! And an integrated bracelet styled after the Erebus Origin's.
A change between seconds and date could be handy, given that also the day is already on the screen. If you make a digital watch with Erebus, then please make it a watch that basically runs itself forever with solar and high accuracy quartz.
It’s not quite for me, at any price, but I respect the extremely late-1970s vibe: the uncomfortable combination of round case and rectangular LCD, the sharp little round pushers, but also the use of proper, durable materials…
I have the 35 mm and I love it. Steel case, bracelet with solid links, sapphire crystal, 100 meters of water resistance, a strong LED backlight and even a second time zone. Coming in that retro 70's (Casiotron) look.
I bought the exact same model at launch Jody. No regrets whatsoever. And yeah I get a few asking if it is actually vintage & no negative comments. It’s a good wear & very legible. You did well buying yours mate!👍🏼🤩
Tbh softlads here only insult and criticise behind their keyboards. They never ACTUALLY go up to strangers and say their watches are "shite", unless they're looking for a cheap teeth removal service.
Fun review Jodi! Okay, you've convinced me -- there now no PRX watches that I like. I think it may be because I grew up in the 70s and 80s that I can't find love either for digital or for the sharp-edged blocky cases of the PRX line. They seem to follow the same design ethos that brought us the Reliant K-car (and coincidentally, both have plastic parts in their engines). It may be that some things are best left un-resurrected.
This watch was made to be 35mm IMO. The proportions are amazing and I think that’s still something Tissot has over all the other affordable brands making integrated bracelet watches, proportions. Most of the other brands can’t seem to get that part right to me.
I agree about the proportions of the 35mm being better. Would be nice if Tissot would use the black "real estate" around the digital display to integrate solar cells. And, if they offered a version with black bracelet - I am not sure if the case should also be black or as it is.
6:05 - 4 hours of power from the battery.....yikes, Im going to need a bigger bag of batteries. 🤣 PS is they were £115 (rough look at exchange rate) I might be tempted by one, I love a digital watch #casio4life
It's nice to see such a genuine reaction to an in hand product. Not just going along with the meta, and we all know how different watches are in the flesh rather than press shots
I just discovered the watch world. I'm a women with small wrists. I'm very disappointed with the availability of smaller diameter sizes. Tissot provide a reasonable size for us small wristed people though, also Casio. Any other brands? Thanks.
Well that could be seen as a $800 discount on the Casio one, another nostalgia re-issue to which it bears a striking resemblance.....I really liked your mates cushion case version, wow.
Saw the gold one for sale in 35 for 299 Canadian. Can you tell me what the end of battery life does on a digital? What happens? What does it look like because there's no second hand to double tick if the battery is low
Hear me oit here folks... if casio brought out a watch similar to this with the same level of finishing at this price everyone would lap it up... take the recently re issued limited edition casiotron for instance... the mock up though is awesome! That would sell by the buckwt load. Great video as always 😊
Its evoking the digital watch trend of the 1970s. Everyone likes the Casiotron but they weirdly hate on this one, when quite frankly Brietling was putting out similarly designed watches during the 70s.
I don't understand why people complained about the round case and squared display. Back in the days pretty much everyone was doing exactly that. Casiotron' reissue is the proof, and nobody complained.
👍🏼Bulova rocks. Well, the vintage stuff and the reissues with Precisionist movements. With a few exceptions, modern and post-modern Bulovas are kinda clownish IMO.
I'm probably on my own here, had one (The all silver 40mm version) for about 3 months now and I kinda like it. It certainly gets people asking "What Casio is that?" LOL
I really like it! Even when it was introduced I liked it (the 35mm not so much the 40mm) And for the price you paid? A bargain! Isn’t there a silver dial available as an alternative to this black version?
Love the PRX, have one- but not the digital. Cannot remember if you have already, somewhat of a “competitor” to this style, but the all metal GShock Squares give you very similar styling but way more bang for buck and originality IMO.
Any chance we will get a review of a Armitron digital watch? They seem. Like a really good alternative to cheap Casios, but possibly offering better quality being made out of steel. Some fun designs too!
Utility is important for me. As a dyslexic I need to check day, date and even month frequently. There seems to be a lot of button pressing just to get there. That's a pity. Otherwise, I quite like it.
This is the only decent digital watch with thin nice case and bracelet and sapphire glass. And that is why I bought it. Same configuration. Black 35mm. If there is an alternative please let me know.
I bought the same 35mm watch a few days ago and definitely agree that the 35mm is the one to get. I wasn’t sure if I would regret the purchase since I understand all the negative comments. I have owned many watches both cheaper and much more expensive than the PRX, but this is now one of my favourite watches ever!
Well, when I visited an AD in the flagship store, hidden away in the WTC shopping centre. They didn't even have this watch on display. Price is horrendous even with the big discounts.
400 is too much, but 200 is a good deal keeping in mind that casio still cant bring full metal saphire watch. You can go to skx mod, but will end up with price around 200.
A digital quartz watch is a great sport and beater watch. Love my G-Shock. And I added a simple and cheap but well made Chinese big digit reverse LCD display watch with silicone strap. It's great for easy to read on the fly. And has all the extra features like stopwatch, day-date, countdown timer, alarm and dual time zone. And night illumination too. In an aluminum case and screwdown case back too. Under $20 USD.
Jodi I was a hater of this release but have warmed to the idea after seeing this video, I would really love a quality sapphire lensed digital watch but the only thing I just cant abide is a push on case back No way's.
You can't get a Casio with those specs but you can mod a Casio to those specs as you've previously pointed out Jodie (and which I've done twice now based on your review - love the result!).
You legend, I’ve been thinking about picking up this exact model, also on sale. There are some strap adapters around the make it take regular straps too (although harder to find for the small model than the 40mm).
I like it more than the regular PRX! It fixes the PRX's most major flaw for me, its boringness. It also scratches the itch of the hamilton PSR for less than half the price
I have the 40mm. And I love it. Looking through Tissot's history of digital watches - this one is very keeping in line with their styling. I like "high end" digital watches for that 70s/80s nostalgia. Not many (if any) digital watches have the refinement of the PRX Digital. Closest I've found are the G-Shock MR-G offerings at significantly higher cost, and the full metal squares at a more reasonable price point. The new Casiotron is also in the ballpark, but no saphire crystal alas.
The case is pretty nice. I'm not sure I'd want to drop that much dough on a pretty basic digital watch. I get the sense that'd you're paying for the name "Tissot" -a good name to be sure. But I have similar looking Armitrons for a fraction of the price.
@@xpusostomosOf course there are a few Casio's that are also overpriced and not great but generally speaking there are whole lists of Casio watches between $25 and $150 that are WAY better value. If you take every Casio under $200, it might be in the hundreds. The only thing absurd is the mental gymnastics required to take a single Casio out of the hundreds to justify a point that doesn't exist.
@@mattkinsella9856 Any Casio remotely close to $25 is a plastic watch with a plastic bracelet and a plastic crystal. And you want to compare it to a Swiss quality SS bracelet, sapphire crystal. I guess to you, every watch is same-same and you're now sporting a casio F91W
I couldn’t give SKXMOD my $150 fast enough to mod my A168. Especially if you can find this PRX for under $200, I personally don’t see a difference between my modded Casio and this. 🤷🏻♂️
I got the 40mm version. I love it! It’s in my weekly rotation along with way Hamilton and Seikos. It is the best digital I’ve ever owned and is WAY higher quality than a Casio gshock. Those are fun but they can’t hold a candle to that bracelet or case. It’s terrific.
I’m guessing you meant 4 *years* battery life. Which isn’t great given that the Casio Royale gets 10 years (mine is 12 years and counting) off the same battery. 6 pushes to display the date? They didn’t think that one through. Date should have been the 1st press, and revert back to time after 10 seconds. The Casio A1000 is probably the nearest match, should be roughly the same price at that discount. Full price almost gets you a TRN 50.
I agree that if this watch is around the same price as a g shock then I’d buy it too. It’s just like a metal g shock but with a sapphire crystal. So if it’s only around a hundred bucks it’s a really good deal.
They forgot Solar, radio control, Bluetooth, phone finder, flight log, shock resistance, tank like build quality and water resistance. Yeah right, very similar.
Tissot has made some clever T-Touch quartz watches in the past. They should have done more for this model. But it's rarity and lack of love will mean it will be a collector's item in the future.
I actually really liked this release when it came out. I already have the 35mm analogue but had this been available at the time, the choice would have been all the more difficult
I would prefer if Tissot bring back & improve their 70s digital watch. I know they released at least 2 models & 1 of them was a rebadged Casiotron. I couldn't find their exact model name, but I know the other model's module called Module 4311 F
Great video. I'd definitely buy this at the price you found. I will say the 40mm mock up is horrible, while the actual production model is only bad lol
I actually don't hate the watch. It looks quite cool in 35mm. But I do think the official retail price is way too high. And for that price to make some sense, they should at least have put in a better looking, more advanced module AND make it solar powered.
Imho, they should make this with different colours not only black, and maybe put an unusual and unique function in the movement. Casio has done that before.
I still wouldn't say I like it, but it is more compelling at a discount. The smaller size really does help with the dial. I would have preferred they use modules that take advantage of the dial space and add function instead.
I just can’t get past the press on case back. Not so bad on this PRX model at a reduced price, but the automatics have a press on back too! I’ve got a £25 lorus field watch with a screw down case back. I’m not sure how much I’d trust that 100m WR after a couple of battery changes…
Got myself a SKMEI - ( Shir Kuh Mei - "Beautiful Moments in Time". 粤, 闽, 客). 1123 digital retro watch. I bought a nice NATO to go with, I have 9 inch wrists, Asian watches never fit. All in all I spend about €20,- on it. Great watch, runs on time, nice blue back light.
I love good quality digital watches. I think this watch has a deliciously awesome seventies vibe... I have the Hamilton PSR and still find myself some days choosing to wear it over my other watches. The bracelet is wonderful and it just wears so comfortably. High quality. Retro. Digital. What's not to love?
I never hated the PRX digital. I think it's a fine watch, and gives us a very well built digital watch for the price. Even with a 7.5" wrist I'd probably go for the 35mm model due to small digital Casio models being the norm. You can currently get these for £200 in big retailers in the UK - I reckon they might even take a few quid off to get rid of them. I think for that price, it's absolutely fine. People called it ugly, I think it's actually quite a looker (40mm model less-so). Only things I wish they'd added was using all the black space as a solar panel. I also think the Tissot PRX text is a bit "meh". Maybe adding the full coloured Tissot logo as per that mock up would have been nice for a tiny splash of colour - since that's what the quartz/auto version of the PRX says to me - colourful. PS - I feel validated in actually liking this watch now (not enough to buy, though lol)
I actually like the digital PRX 😂 I don't have one, I have a mother of pearl quartz PRX 35mm. But the digital is cool. Digital watches are cool! It's nice to see a nicely crafted digital watch again like we used to have back in the 70s and 80s. I might pick a PRX digital if they are going to be on sale like this 😊
Well argued points and I like digitals as well but the main counter to your conclusion is that few people will ever get one for the price you did. I don't get the hair pulling from cheap Casios (or the old Seiko 5s) for some reason so I'd much rather get a Casio or whatever for the money you paid. I still hope Tissot puts out a 37/38mm PRX. I bought an Ali clone of the PRX in that size & while it is nowhere near as nice as the real thing, it reinforced my opinion that the 35mm is too small & the 40mm is too big for many of us.
I don’t understand this watch. But not a big fan of digital watches. After seeing the analog versions, this just feels like a cheap cash grab. The mocked up version at least feels thought out.
If someone offer me a GShock or this with the condition that I would not be able to resell it. I would go with the Casio, Tissot can keep doing analog watches.
6:03 Four _hours_ of battery life? I sure hope the was supposed to be _years._ The biggest problem with the PRX digital has always been the untenable RRP. It doesn't make much sense to buy a non-G-Shock digital watch for much more than USD $150.
Thanks for the video. First time I take a good moment to look at it. This might sound dumb, but per my experience with digital watches I feel like if they added a back function when switching features that would be a competitive advantage as no other digital watch (to my knowledge) does that. Either way there's a marker for this somewhere and at $150USD I might be in that market. Edit: the mock up is much better btw
I agree with you on this. I find I wear my 35mm digital WAY more often than either my 35mm analogue quartz or the 40mm Powermatic 80. I find the digital just gives off better 70s retro vibe and the backlight beats the pants off the lume on the analogues! :)
It’s the correct size digital version to go for but the bracelet won’t fit a guy with an 8 inch wrist like mine. We’d have to add a link at least. So that means we’re stuck buying the 40 mil. The one that just looks wrong. And that’s why the model doesn’t sell very well. To fix this tissot needs to add about two more links to the bracelet and they will sell way more 35 mill versions. But then again this isn’t the first times this has happened. There have been a lot of watch models that didn’t do very well just cuz the bracelet was too short and didn’t come with a couple extra links.

I would prefer if Tissot bring back & improve their 70s digital watch. I know they released at least 2 models & 1 of them was a rebadged Casiotron. I couldn't find their exact model name, but I know the other model's module called Module 4311 F
6:06 did you say 4 hours of battery life 😂😂😂 I know you meant 4 years, awesome watch and another great video!
✌🏼😎👍🏼
Great video. I'd definitely buy this at the price you found. I will say the 40mm mock up is horrible, while the actual production model is only bad lol
I actually don't hate the watch. It looks quite cool in 35mm.
But I do think the official retail price is way too high.
And for that price to make some sense, they should at least have put in a better looking, more advanced module AND make it solar powered.
6:04 I get that batteries are cheap and plentiful, but a four hour battery life is just inexcusable. 🤭
It's not hours, obviously an error.

Should have put an LED display in it, with red digits. Hit the button and get the time, hit the other and get the date. That would be awesome!
It’s very elegant and 70ies cool, and the only PRX I’ve ever considered, and at that price, man it’s a steal 👍
Looks like the round Casio they introduced a year or so ago. Not as affordable, though.
Not my cup of tea…
… but Jody with your love for digital watches, may we see a digital Erebus in the future?!!??? 😇
I just can’t get past the press on case back.
Not so bad on this PRX model at a reduced price, but the automatics have a press on back too!
I’ve got a £25 lorus field watch with a screw down case back.
I’m not sure how much I’d trust that 100m WR after a couple of battery changes…
I’d take the titanium Casio Wave Ceptor 👍
I have one of those, ani/digi "Lineage" model, it's my highest specced watch. Incredible piece of kit.
40 hours power reserve?
I bought my wife an AliExpress rubber strap for her PRX and it integrates perfectly
I might pick a PRX digital if they are going to be on sale like this 😊
I like it and I have had a few Tissots currently the orange Seastar 1000, but then I am a watch addict so I obviously like it;)
I like that Tissot a lot. Reminds me of the late 1970's Omega LCD's.
Cheap casios with metal bands are big time hair pullers. I didn't notice hair pulling on the PRX.
Well, well, well... Looks like I am here first. Nice video. Horrible watch.
Ha! I am quite enjoying mine..... 😬
😂
😂😂
I don’t understand this watch. But not a big fan of digital watches. After seeing the analog versions, this just feels like a cheap cash grab. The mocked up version at least feels thought out.
Perfect 😂. I haven't seen it in the metal yet, so I will reserve my opinion until I see it in real life.
This, or a modded Casio? I would go with the Casio, if being honest.
If someone offer me a GShock or this with the condition that I would not be able to resell it. I would go with the Casio, Tissot can keep doing analog watches.
Can’t stand the watch but man Jody, this is one of your best vids and that is no low bar. Thanks
6:03 Four _hours_ of battery life? I sure hope the was supposed to be _years._ The biggest problem with the PRX digital has always been the untenable RRP. It doesn't make much sense to buy a non-G-Shock digital watch for much more than USD $150.
6:00 4 hours of battery life?
Not a chance. If going digital I am at all times sticking with the casioak
For 135€/220 Australian , this seems all right, as a kid from the 90's I always liked digital watch.
I got bored of my analogue PRX very quickly but honestly, I really like these.
You can buy links easily enough. I did. But I agree, come on Tissot, stop being cheap asses with the number of links.
