The new Casio A1100D has standard 20mm lugs, so if you don't like the folded link bracelet (which is a pain to size) you can put about any bracelet or strap you want on it.
The g shock gmw b5000 is probably the best digital "dress" watch you can buy at that price. You get the class shape of a square, built quality like a solid dive watch and a reliable solar Bluetooth atomic module. For some reason, Tissot loves to put a press on case back on their quartz prx, including this digital one. You will definitely have a hard time removing and installing the case back after years... and your water resistance is basically ruined after opening a press on case back...😑
That G-Shock is definitely not at all a dress watch in any universe. It is, however, a compelling watch on its own, right., but for that price to have mineral glass? I’ll take the PRX any day the PRX can pass as a digital dressy sport watch, but not the G-Shock
Iv ordered a 35mm black one, it arrives tomorrow. I cant wait. A proper tool watch. Sapphire crystal 100m water resist, a light, a coundown timer, alarm, and a beautifully machined stainless steel case and THAT bracelet, so please don’t compare it to a casio. you can take it snorkelling and out to dinner, its the perfect holiday watch or GADA. As for the module, tissot doesn’t make shit watches, for them to put this module in it they wouldn’t have done it willy nilly. It will last, if it doesn’t i will eat my panama hat. In twenty years when it starts fading you can just put a new one in and u can remind your self that you haven’t spent a penny on it in 20 years other than a battery every four and the case will still be more than presentable and the crystal immaculate. If your still wearing the same watch in 20 years. I paid 300 pounds sterling for mine, direct from Switzerland. What more do u want from a swiss made 300 quid watch with all that heritage. Anyways, I hope it is a tremendous hit forcing other companies tojump into it and offer their own takes. Imagine Citizen or Seiko jumping into the LCD space again.
I love it for what it means more than what it is. More OEMs should be producing digital quartz watches with a high level of materials and finishing! Ditch LCD for MIP, though.

This was would be a top seller in the 1970s. Many watch companies made digital watches that looked like this including Texas instruments. So it’s not entirely a money grab as you would think. I just wish they created a whole new line instead of just slapping it into the PRX line.

Interesting, unexpected, but ultimately confusing- you said it well- who is this for??? I'll stick to my casios for my digital fix. I'd love to see a review on that a1100 when you get your hands on one :)
I am wearing my new Casio A1100. Better looking, more interesting and a third of the price. Great that Tissot tried something, but better luck next time.
I'm older than you (ahem) so I love the 70s look but £310??! I'll stick with the Casio A171. Congrats on 75k subscribers, you deserve every one of them.
It seems a quite interesting upgrade for some people from plastic Casios... On the other hand I've got A1100 in black and for me this is an absolute winner losing to prx only with legibility, glass and WR - but then neither of them is a field watch so those do not matter for me. I have a PRX (quartz im mint 'semi-tiffany') and I must say - it's a great watch with one huge issue for me - it's SOOO popular that I don't feel like a watch enthusiast wearing it, just a regular fashion consumer. It's a bit snobby perhaps but isn't this a bit snobby hobby? ;)
As.much as I hate digital watches, for someone that needs watches and actual accuracy, this is a winner. I would never buy one. Bc I bought a casio for 20 dollars, but as far as digital with style, yeah, I like it. I'll just buy kne used for 100 dollars down the line.
I am surprised Tissot doesn’t give the PRX a break after the 35 auto that was just released. How about a Gentleman GMT or a Gentleman at 35/37. I do like the Genta genre of watches. We don’t complain about the huge amount of dive watches or field watches.
Yeah, I've made this point. I don't get why it's this huge saturation. I don't hear "ugh, yet another submariner inspired watch" with nearly the frequency as I hear claims about it being another "royal oak" and there's a tiny fraction as many of the latter. My PRX tends to be the watch that gets viewed as the most unique by people when I wear it out actually. Because my dive watches all basically look like every other dive watch to anyone who's not an enthusiast. That said, I absolutely hate this digital version hahaha
Also gentlemen GMT sounds very cool. Though Tissot did just give the 1938 some love and came out with the sideral, so I don't think they're forgetting about the rest of their collection. It really seems like the gentleman is what's getting the shaft specifically, which is a shame, but I think since they both sit in roughly the same position, but the gentleman looks much more conventional, there's just more competition outside Tissot. So I'm sure the sale numbers kind of force that issue.
Nah, the quartz PRX is alright, but I'd choose a digital Casio over any other digital watch any day of the week. Casio is the king here. What's your opinion on the new stainless steel A1100, which one of the three do you prefer: the Alien, the Walkman or the A1100?
I tried it on and the band is.. I like a traditional band. Also, their clasp system is .. very bulky and he's right - never quite the right size. I found it would setting in difference places on my arm depending on the day. I sold it off and got a Tissot with a more traditional leather band. Less money, more dressy, fits better. Somehow Tissot just makes... odd metal bands. As for favorite, I have to go with the Alien one as it's very retro and fun looking.
9:55 LMAOO! It's no surprise that your wife said "it's okay" contrary to most of your other digital watches, I was in the meh to hate camp before until I've seen it in person, they look alright. Don't like the black crystal (yep, it's treated crystal not dial) one, looks cheap and still is in person which why I think lot of people online hating it, but I think it looks better or sporty if paired with the black rubber strap which is too bad all the rubber strap currently sold out. In the other hand, the mirror crystal equipped on both gold and steel are the one to go. Holy moly they're so stylish and feel like much more luxurious and fancy. Not more of a watch but as fashion statement though I would say. The 40mm would look banging on your girlfriend wrist as an oversized bangle stacked with bunch of other bracelet that she might have while 35mm does looks cool as a stand alone functional bracelet. The 40mm mirror crystal in the other hand looks like all metal bracelet which looks cool as a bold bracelet on a guy's wrist which could also be worn as either with summer or winter outfit for going out or to the formal events, GADA watch I would say. And both mirror crystal variants which are gold pvd and steel models would look awesome with most of the OEM strap variant. My non watch friends that was with me commented, aside the black color variant, they all looks fancy and stylish while the other prx (including the chrono) looks like it's for an old people (kinda offended me in a way as I'm not old and I do own two prx auto in green and ice blue).
I find this to be an intriguing and bold move from Tissot. Not sure how I feel about its looks, dont think it to be particularly pretty or anything but keep thinking there might be folks out there who like it. That being said, after seeing how unimpressed you were with the watch and how the comments section seem to unanimously agree with your assessment, I’m starting to think who is this watch for?
I am a PRX fan, only down to the benefits the powermatic brings. The case and bracelet are great. I just don't like this at all. It doesn't pull my nostalgia strings whatsoever and in particular the absolute ludicrous price point. They are in danger of damaging their PRX fanbase. Great review Russ
Hi MWC, could you tell us how much of the watch’s price is brand and how much is the cost of production and R&D? Same question goes for Rolex and the Swiss holy trinity.
I love my Powermatic PRX. My wife loves her quartz PRX… This digital version is just OK. I feel like they should have done something special with the module. Maybe use the dead space for a solar power? The 40 is way too big for how big the screen is. I would only ever consider the 35… And even then, I think they need to go back to the drawing board here. It’s like they either need to go full retro, or more modern. They can’t seem to make up their mind what this watch is. I’m not seeing the hole they are trying to fill with this watch. 🤷♂️
The elderly can often not be bothered with busy dials and complications. This is perfect for that demographic that wants something seemingly a bit more refined than a Casio.
Id throw $75 at it maybe. Hey Russ, you should get a Amazon store and post the other watches you sell. So many numbers in the casio name I just for them and a link to a store you own would be helpful to us and you. Just a thought, Cheers

This was would be a top seller in the 1970s. Many watch companies made digital watches that looked like this including Texas instruments. So it’s not entirely a money grab as you would think. I just wish they created a whole new line instead of just slapping it into the PRX line.
I just bought the Casio A171WEMB-1A and it's awesome.
Not to mention about $600 AUD cheaper than the Tissot..🤔👍
I actually own the PRX quartz and I have to say the bracelet is the most comfortable on my wrist ever…
Wow. What the heck is that? It reminds me of some 70s watches I saw when I was in the 70s. So...blah. Great review as always!
Tissot spamming PRX line is boring
but at least it's less scary tan Swatch trying to recreate a Blancpain, like wat they did with Omega
I'm with you. Really not a fan of Genta stuff. I love proper lugs and bracelets
. Just put an order in for the bond goldeneye 2541.80! Yay !! Will be my main watch and I can't wait
I'll save my money & buy a casio. Also why not make it solar powered?
It would definitely look better with a red digital display...
Yeah like one of those yema digital watches would be awesome
OMG I love how you put it. With the watching my hands using my eyes lol
I like it, just ordered one! 😊
Over here in India, the PRX autos are $800+ and the quartz is $470-ish. Kills the charm of these watched for me.
Thank you, but no thank you. Casio all the way, when it comes to digital watches. Very entertaining as usual.😊 Cheers.
Interesting, unexpected, but ultimately confusing- you said it well- who is this for??? I'll stick to my casios for my digital fix. I'd love to see a review on that a1100 when you get your hands on one :)
I'm holding out for the sundial PRX.
Maybe they'll do an egg timer one with Swiss-made Sand.
What a great review a price a bit to steep for most. Thanks for the Casio reference alternative for such a cheaper price
I don't know, maybe a full round digital display, that shows data more creatively, may work
I like it! Need to see other colors!
Should have been a White/black lcd to make a difference...
The black area could have been a visible solar panel
Yes in the 70s Tissot made the Tissot 03 which had the same module as the Casiotron.
The quartz was half decent, but this shocking for the price.. if it was £100 then maybe, but £300 is just 🤯🤯🤯
It needed and independent backlight button and a date in screen.
Where did u purchase your Casio display stand
Stellar show! I like the "0" before the digit when less than 10 o'clock, actually. But butterfly? And price?? Hard pass. Thanks, Russ! 👍
Really nice to see a reviewer mentioning A1100.
It's a bit snobby perhaps but isn't this a bit snobby hobby? ;)
I was over the whole 'Genta' thing very quickly, but this thing? ... Damn yeah!!!
They could have done so much with this watch yet they did so little. Still trying to work out why, and how did it get off the drawing board
Question... silly question: why Casio G shock does not come with sapphire crystal?
As.much as I hate digital watches, for someone that needs watches and actual accuracy, this is a winner. I would never buy one. Bc I bought a casio for 20 dollars, but as far as digital with style, yeah, I like it. I'll just buy kne used for 100 dollars down the line.
"Saturised" love it :)
I would buy a Casio A1000 if I wanted a digital steel watch or a PRX Classic Quartz if I wanted an analogue watch
1st person to look at the functions that I've seen so far 👍
Does it have auto light ? Or need to press for light ?
I just received the casio A1100 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great review. Thank you!
Always entertaining to watch 😅
Not a bad looking watch. Great review bro
My wife loves her quartz PRX…
This digital version is just OK. I feel like they should have done something special with the module. Maybe use the dead space for a solar power? The 40 is way too big for how big the screen is. I would only ever consider the 35…
And even then, I think they need to go back to the drawing board here. It’s like they either need to go full retro, or more modern. They can’t seem to make up their mind what this watch is.
I’m not seeing the hole they are trying to fill with this watch. 🤷♂️
Yeah, all that negative space... room enough for a solar powered feature at least... right?
And Casio's looks soo much better on the face/dail.
what a mad review again!!! quite nice, but frankly it's really too expensive, i won't take one for sure... 😂😂😂
Casio jointly watch?
The elderly can often not be bothered with busy dials and complications. This is perfect for that demographic that wants something seemingly a bit more refined than a Casio.
Ahhh so expansive for the quartz, thought it’d be cheaper. Would rather get a Casioak then 😂
It's OK but I much prefer the re-issue of the Bulova Jet Star 1973 with the sweeping Quartz movement
Id throw $75 at it maybe. Hey Russ, you should get a Amazon store and post the other watches you sell. So many numbers in the casio name I just for them and a link to a store you own would be helpful to us and you. Just a thought, Cheers
honestly i love it haha. so weird that you hate it. love everything about it!
Ok, it’s stainless steel, and looks very cool. And it’s Swiss.
